Our guide Demitri was awesome, very knowledgeable, fun and helpful. George our driver was excellent! The whole experience was amazing, they took care of all the details and it was worry free! The hotels we stayed in were very nice. I would definitely book this again!

Greece

Our tour guide Nancy was great and driver Nicolas. The government closed down the Olympia sites, so disappointed we couldn’t go in them. But enjoyed rest of trip.

Excellent tour!

We had an excellent experience on this tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the various archaeological sites, and Ancient Greek history. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a tour of ancient archaeological site in Greece.

Amazing tour with Yiota and George

We had an incredible time with a very experienced guide and driver. Yiota and George were a great pair! Yiota provided plenty of historical information, mythology, Greek stories, and humor. The bus was comfortable, the tours at historical sites were superb, and the whole group learned a lot in a fun way. We were all family for the three days, and it was hard to say goodbye.

A Greek Odyssey!

I had a wonderful time on this trip and would highly recommend it! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. I learned so much about Greek history which I loved! The driver was also great and gave us a very smooth trip. The whole tour was very well organised and the hotels were very good. Highly recommened!

Good trip overall

Similar experience with past reviews that first day was slightly packed with little time to explore the sites. It didn’t help that our guide was slightly young and inexperienced. While she was helpful and did her job to tell the facts but we had more fun tagging along other guides who were better at storytelling when visiting the sites. She was also slightly confused about the logistics especially on the last day as our groups had visitor of 3and 4 days tour and had to be split. Good pick up and drop off service

Great tour. Excellent guide and driver. Views along the north Ageian coast were spectacular. I’m not gonna say anymore.

Great Tour Package, but

This was a great tour package from Athens to several beautiful and interesting historical old Greek sires. Our tour guide, Dominic, was a great guide who looked over us like a mother hen and was a wealth of knowledge. The hotels were fairly good along with great breakfast and excellent dinner meals included. Everything was well planned and taken care of and all we had to do was go along. There were only twelve of us in a small party type bus, which was great. Our only but was the driving. We have to say that we did not feel completely comfortable as we felt the driver was driving way too fast for many of the roads. This, as we found out later, might be typical of most drivers in Greece and not just our bus driver. We were sitting up front and could see the speedometer and many times the driver was going 90-100 kph in areas posted 50-60 kph. Even through narrow city streets where it was posted 30-50 kph he continued at those high speeds. He appeared to be a good driver, knowing the roads, but seeing him drive at those high speeds through narrow streets in many small villages just left us unable to relax, and much of the travel was on windy, steep, and narrow roads. We questioned the tour guide if we were in a hurry and I was told the speed limit in the country is 100 kph, but that was obviously not the case on much of the roads we traveled. Again, maybe this is typical of drivers in all of Greece, but if the driver had driven slower this would definitely have been a five star tour. Again, if not for the driving, the guide Dominic was excellent, the sites were wonderful, the lodging and food were great, and everything is well planned, effortless, and well taken care of for you.

3-Day Tour

Great trip. Very knowledgeable guide and good driver. The other members of the tour group were friendly. Overall awesome experience and I would definitely book again.

Temples of Apollo and...

Temples of Apollo and Athena. My husband, who used a cane, was keeping up pretty well. While we expected no special considerations, it would have been nice for our guide to at least inquire how he was doing.

Guide hard to understand.

Unfortunately the guide was hard to understand with her thick accent. I had been on the exact same tour before with an excellent guide, but both my wife and I were disappointed with this experience. Also, time at archeological sites was sometimes cut short to allow the guide to shepherd us to stops for unnecessary shopping that did little to enhance the overall experience. Some important historical information was skipped over during some presentations. The electronic sound devices did not work well when the guide was walking and talking. Sound quality was better when the guide stopped and faced the tour group. The guide treated the group like small school children by constantly questioning what the group remembered from the past museum visit. Between the thick accent and scattershot details my wife felt very disappointed in the experience and presentation. Since I knew some Greek history, I was not as frustrated, but still disappointed. We later met a guide with another group that spoke clearly. We wished we had encountered her on our tour. The archeological sites are wonders in themselves, but could use a better guide to bring forth their history.

Great tour and guide.

the sites we saw were spectacular. Our guide was fabulous. the only critique is that all the rooms are in the same chain of hotels, so although I paid extra for first class accommodation, the room was seemed to be their standard room. The bus going back was delayed because of rain and thunder.

Fabulous Tour

Our tour guide, Averkios, was fantastic! He really knows his history and archeology and was a great teacher throughout the entire tour. It was easy to see his passion for the subject. The hotels were very nice and the food was very good. The schedule was a perfect balance of organized education and then some time on our own to explore. Highly recommend this tour.

A fun adventure with a lot of travel and learning

Having an excellent tour guide makes all the difference in the world, especially when there is so much travel involved in three days. We were treated to stories as we traveled through small villages on our way between sites, and it made the time go by quickly. Yes we had an excellent tour guide and she made this excursion even more memorable.

Wonderful learning experience

It was a wonderful and educational trip. Our tour guide layered in the information during the drive, as we arrived and then visited sites. I personally learned so much! I traveled with my teenage grandson who also stayed interested. Our guide provided great lunch recommendations on the first two days. The hotels were very clean. We were able to enjoy some swim/ pool time each day before dinner. Dinner was buffet style and a lot of options to choose from. I was unaware that they combined the 3 day group with 4 day. The only unexpected informations was that we finished around 1:30 and we were taken back to hotel to meet another bus that returned to Athens leaving at 3. We did stop at a lovely picture site and one restroom break. My only wish would have been to allow us time to purchase water before we boarded the bus, either at the museum or if hotel had readily available. The bus drive home was quiet and relaxing and we were taken to our hotel. This is a definite trip to consider.

3 day tour

I would not recommend changing people of one bus to another. Our trip was brilliant until we changed buses. The guide on the second bus which was a day trip bus was so obnoxious it wasn’t funny but she was very good with the elderly……you make up your own mind

Wonderful sites, beautiful drive, too much talking

The archeological sites we experienced were incredible. Our guide Joy was very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English, French and of course Greek. The bus was very comfortable and the air conditioner worked a treat. (Thank goodness as we were here during the heatwave). The meals provided were below average. Buffett dinners and breakfast. And although you could buy your own lunch they stopped were you didn’t have any options other than their option, which was always overpriced. We stopped to do wine and olive oil tasting on day 2, a tourist trap. We were there 15 minutes. The tour I went on was both in English and French. Never again!!! We spent half the time at sites waiting for our guide to explain in both languages. On a day when it was 42 degrees in the shade, this was not ideal. There was little quiet time on the bus as again everything had to be explained in both languages. I did the 3 day tour and had to wait 2.5 hours for the bus to take me back to Athens after my group had left. Poorly organised. A whole afternoon wasted waiting around. Our driver George was excellent, lovely personality and safe driver. We stayed only at Amalia Hotels, which were nice and mostly friendly staff except in Nafplion the dinner staff were rude with little care for their patrons.

Our tour guide Dimitra...

Our tour guide Dimitra was excellent, very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. She was able to convey the key points of history spanning thousands of years through stories. Delphi was spectacular. The only downside was that it was a lot of hours travelling on the bus to make all the destinations. And it was really hot. The hotels were nice (pools but no fitness rooms) and lunch had to be at the restaurant we were taken to ( no choices). I’m not sure what first class got me.

Enjoyable Tour

Our tour guide was amazing! She had so much knowledge to share and made all of the history interesting for all ages. We wish there were more choices for dinner for children in Delphi. We did not get to choose the dinner. It was predetermined and there was only one option. Our tour continued for a 4th day so we returned from Delphi on a day trip bus. So we had to wait at the hotel for that tour to end to join the. This delayed our return by several hours Better communication regarding the drop-off would be better.

Great Bus to Tour Delphi and Olympia.

Excellent tour; our guide (Dimitra) was very organized, knowledgeable and very professional, as was the bus driver (Yorgos). The sites especially Olympia and Delphi were really impressive. We did do a lot of driving but we had a lot of ground to cover. Hotels (Amalia group) were also quite good.

Perfect Athens tour to cover surrounding cities

We were able to see a lot of archeological sites and museums. Nice hotel accommodations, delicious food, and comfort bus.

Excellent tour with an excellent guide

Sites were fantastic. Our guide Dmitra was very knowledgeable and fluent in French and English. The hotels and meals were nice. There was a diverse group of people on the tour - Americans, Canadians, Australians. There were singles, couples and families, and young and old. Highly recommend! History and Greek mythology became alive!

Fantastic Tour!

We really enjoyed our tour guide, you could tell she loved what she did and had tons of good information to share. We loved meeting and talking with the other guests on the trip and had a great time! All of the hotels that we stayed at we're very good and well above our expectations with fantastic views. The dinner and breakfast being included was nice and the quality of the food was good but nothing to brag about.

Beautiful drive along the Greek coast

My wife and I really enjoyed the three day trip to the Peloponnese. Although the mornings were a little cool (mid Feb) the sun warmed up the air each day and it was a very, very pleasant experience. The ancient ruins at Olympia and Delphi were impressive, and the drive from Olympia to Delphi, along the Greek coast was beautiful. The mountains, the coastline, the jagged shoreline jetting out into the bay... just really pretty. Frankly, I think it is the best "shoreline" drive we have every taken.

This was a great trip for anyone wanting to experience classical Greece outside of Athens. An excellent three day tour with an exceptional guide.

Nice but long journeys and little time to see the places

The tour was globally really nice but it's a pity that we had to rush through some places (especially on the 1st day, which was the busiest). Also, I wasn't expecting to spend so much time on the bus (3h at the end of the first day, about 4h on the 2nd day, and about 3h on our way back to Athens). The hotels and meals were very good (even though we hadn't selected the "premium" option) and our guide, Kostos, was really nice and helpful. I'd still recommend the tour, but I'd advise people to take a pillow/book/something to do in order not to get bored during the long journeys. Also: no outlet to charge your phone on the bus so make sure your phone is fully charged/you have a power bank with you ;-)

More than worth the price of admission

Overall great trip and well worth the money. I took this trip 6 years ago and wanted to come back and bring my kids. It is a much better route now than it was 6 years ago and I am glad I did it again.

Really great experience!

The tour was really fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Greek culture and history in a short period of time. The absolutely best part of our trip was our tour guide, Effie. What an incredible person! Educated as an archeologist, very well-spoken, a true thinker, with a good sense of humor, and most of all, with a trove of information in her head! We have learned SO much in these three days. The tour was worth every penny. Accommodations were superb, organization perfect, our transportation was in a Mercedes Sprinter mini-bus, and the food was fantastic as well. The tour was so nice with experienced guide, historical sites beautifully explained, hotels at beautiful locations with good food and beautiful landscapes on the way from place to place. Hallen was the guide deserves 5 star rating with excellent driver.

Good general overview of Greece.

Great tour guide. She was very knowledgeable. Hotels were ok, even though we requested the upgraded hotel. Was surprised how the return was because we were transfer to another tour going back to Athens. Glad we had a small and cordial group. Might be tough with a big group.

Solid 3 days of mainland Greek ancient site highlights

Joy was a wonderful guide, keeping everything moving, telling us what we were seeing and giving some great background information while dealing with difficult heat conditions and restrictions along the way. The tour never stopped going and it was so nice to sit back and not have to worry about any of the details. The hotels were lovely and the itinerary was well thought out and interesting.

Beauty and camaraderie in challenging times

This tour proved to be exactly what I hoped for my son (age 12) and me. We traveled to more areas of Greece than I could have done alone and our tour guide, Joy, told us story after story to make the history come alive. We also had sufficient free time to wander at the different sites on our own. We traveled during the week of increasing news and closures due to Covid-19. The travel company made alternate arrangements for us when one site (Olympia) closed ahead of our visit. We enjoyed our stays at both Amalia hotels (Nafplio and Delfi) and felt well cared for throughout the experience. I was impressed with how they coordinated our 3-day tour in conjunction with a 4-day tour, a 2-day tour, and a 1-day tour. I'd happily use Chat Tours again.

Amazing tour!

The tour was amazing. Chat tours was super accommodating when I wanted to add the 4th day and when the highway was closed they rearranged the entire schedule and kept us all informed. Guide was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of stories and history of all the places we visited. Amazing hotels with great food, often a buffet of food, and super friendly staff. An all around amazing tour! Will be booking again!

Fabulous tour, to be recommended

This was an excellent tour with a very good guide. She was very interesting and made everything easy for us. Worth getting a little bit fitter especially for Delphi as there is quite a climb to the theatre and gymnasium. Well worth the effort.

Great trip.

We took this trip from Athens to see as much as we could of the country, while here for a week. On the morning we were leaving, one of my group had an issue with something she ate and was feeling pretty crappy. The tour guide was so nice and extremely accommodating. I was afraid we would have to cancel! After that somewhat rocky start, the tour went off without a hitch. There was plenty of time at each stop, the bus is very comfy and the guide was a wealth of info. We stayed at two great hotels, both Amelia Hotels and each was a treat. I enjoyed this tour immensely and I would highly recommend it. I have great memories and equally great pictures...

Not what we thought it would be

We upgraded to first class on this trip, assuming that it really meant better lodging and service. Instead, we found that EVERYONE had the same lodging and benefits regardless of whether or not they paid extra for first class. This is apparently just a scam to get more money for the same service (verified by other people on the trip. LODGING - Had we known that we would have been stuck in 2 or 3 star hotels that were affiliated with the tour company, and, that were located in remote areas, we would not have booked this tour. The hotel on the first night was in a very remote location with nothing around the hotel so we were captive to the one location. We expected more. For the second night, the hotel was a bare bones room overlooking a weeded and dirty area between two wings of the hotel. The room and the decor in the hotel hallways were reminiscent of a prison. THE TOUR- The tour guide often droned on and on about trivial history or artifacts. In one case, he actually spoke in a museum for more than 30 minutes about a piece of concrete with a few stones in the concrete. In addition, making "rest" stops at places that sell certain products like olive oil, or, stopping at places for lunch that offer limited options is not what we signed up or paid for. We would never recommend this tour company to anyone. We will post this comment on line if you don't hear from the tour company.

Sites great, accommodations terrible

Enjoyed visiting the sites. Olympia was my favorite! Accommodations were terrible, especially in Delphi (see photos). I found alternative accommodations in Delphi and was thankful to be able to shower rather than sit in a mini tub in order to bathe.

Fantastic Tour With Great Guide

My wife and I took this wonderful 3 day tour of the amazing Ancient Greek historic sites . If you are a history buff like me or even if you are not ( like my wife ) it is truly a fun learning experience . We usually do not take organized tours as we prefer to go at our own pace . However , we decided that we could not see the ancient sites on our own given the transportation options in Greece . We were not disappointed . The Amalia hotels chosen by Chat Tours in Olympia and Delphi were in most ways first class ; in fact , the dinner and breakfast buffets were very good . The bus was comfortable and efficient . Best of all — our guide Zenia . Not only is she a lovely person but she is extremely knowledgeable about Ancient Greek history , Greek Mythology , and the culture of her country . She was also very well organized and helpful . Despite some occasions when people were late for a scheduled departure , she handled them with grace and humor . Chat Tours is lucky to have her ! We recommend this tour for everyone .

Great tour with a WONDERFUL guide!

My family really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide was THE BEST!! So knowledgeable!!!! Learned so much! It was well worth the price. Highly recommended!

Comfortable way to see amazing things.

The time at Olympia was a little too short, taking into account it was 35 degrees and you have to slow down in the heat. The other destinations the time was sufficient. The Mercedes bus was very comfortable and there were spare seats to spread out. A/c worked well. The Amalie Hotels were comfortable , food very good except for Delphi were there wasn't tea & coffee facilities in the room.The Guide was very excellent in her history. The only negative thing was no bottled water was provided in the mini van which we thought was unusual for 3 day tour as we have done many similar tours world wide.

Generally excellent. Hotel at Delphi was odd - large but sparse facilities and mediocre food. Guide was knowledgeable but spoke a bit too much and didn’t wait for slower members of the group,

Comprehensive tour

This was an excellent tour, taking in four UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Amalia Hotels were very comfortable and the tour included entry to all sites. Our guide Joy was, well, a joy. She was energetic, personable, a good organiser and shared a wealth of information about all the sites as well as more general information about Greece. I could not possibly have done this trip independently for the price offered by CHAT tours.

Tour boring, tour guide rude

This tour may have been better if the tour guide hadn’t been so rude to other visitors and tours at every site we visited. Delphi was probably the only site worth visiting.

Amazing Tour!!! Wonderful Guide!!!

For years, I had been wanting to visit Greece, especially to see the ancient ruins. On this tour, I was able to do so. My mind was blown away by the amazing archaeological sites we visited!!! Having an outstanding tour guide like Joy, amplified my experience in every way. She conducted the tour so smoothly with lots of details about our daily activities and passionately shared her knowledge of greek history, culture, and mythology with the group. Great for a solo traveler!

I booked this trip as a solo traveler. I am a 24 year old female. My group consisted of families and retired couples but I didn't have any trouble fitting it. It was a great way to see as much as possible in a short period of time. The buses, hotels, and tour guides were all very nice. The tour ran flawlessly. The food served in the hotels was adequate - nothing special. It was a great value for the price! I would definitely recommend.
