Impressive historical sites to see

We loved our visits to Delphi and Meteora. Our guides gave us a lot of important and interesting information about the two historic sites. Meteora, in particular, was spectacular for the views. We highly recommend visiting these two sites with guides who can give important background information and answer your questions!

A trip filled with stunning vistas.

Amazing experience - Delphi and Meteora trip.

Both days at Delphi and Meteora were wonderful and both tour guides wile had were wonderful especially Stathi for the Meteora leg. If I were to nit-pick (and this would really nit-picking) it would be great to add a short stop at that beautiful village just before the Archaeological site in Delphi. I also appreciate it may not be possible because of how packed the day is. I would have been ok arriving in Meteora 30 minutes later if that meant we could do a photo stop in that village. But even with the trip as it was I would highly recommend it (sans the tyre problems of the bus on our way to Delphi😊)

Super enjoyable tour to Meteora

Super well-organised tour to Meteora, led by Layla and driver Asteris!! Layla was always on the ball ensuring we got away from the nasty crowds, being first at the destinations and told us so many stories on the bus. Loved it!

Magical

Views spectacular, the only complaint is that the time was too short. Accommodations were A+ as was the food and hosts. A must do when visiting Greece.

TERRIBLE FROM VIATOR

The tour itself was ok and delivered what it promised. the biggest issue we had was the accommodation. We booked for a group of 5 and were given 2 double rooms to figure out between 5 of us. When we informed that the booking was made for 5 people they told us we will have to pay additional 60EUR for the extra room. As we did not want to waste time there we decided to pay up and manage, but when bringing this up with Viator we have been ignored and not provided any compensation. Why were we charged the same price per person and given a room less? Why is it not mentioned that the room will be given on DBL or TPL sharing basis? Viator has failed to assist us and I write this review so that the rest of you can be aware before booking.

Great Tour

Both places were amazing. The guide Demitrios was funny, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend this trip for sure. Wear comfortable shoes and make sure you bring attire that abides by the monasteries' dress code.

Classic history tour to Delphi and Meteora

The guides were fabulous and well organised. Great drivers. Timings for breaks and tours were appropriate. No time was wasted at all.

Beautiful and memorable tour

This tour was more than I expected! Great ride through the city and countryside of Greece. Tour guide Demetri's was knowledgeable and kept us well informed. Delphi was amazing! Meteora topped Delphi! Walkable with lots of steps, but doable for most. Bus driver deserved an award for his driving skills. Lots of stops for our comfort. Restaurant stops served classic Greek food and we’re located in places with amazing views. Truly amazing tour with memorable stops throughout the 2 day journey!

Wonderful trip to Delphi and Meteora

Amazing

Meteors hills and amazing ability to construct monasteries hundreds of years ago. The weather also cooperated! Very comfortable bus and excellent guide and driver.

History Now

Our guide was very informative and made sure all of out needs were taken care of as well as providing anecdotes of where we were and Greek history. The hotel we stayed at was wonderful.

Meteora worth seeing

It is definitely well worth the extra travel. The best nature site in Greece. There are beautiful monasteries at the rock peaks. St Agios Stepanos is one of the kind. I highly recommend it.

Astounding views and friendly hosts!

I visited Greece with no car, so this was the best option for me to get to Delphi and Meteora - two must-see places I wanted to go. Jordan and Dimitris were excellent hosts. They were thoughtful and thorough. Jordan was very good at filling time with tidbits of information even when we were held up in traffic. He made the time fly by, and Dimitris always had his hand extended to us to help us down the steps of the bus - quite the gentleman. Both sites were incredibly busy, but that was to be expected given their popularity. Jordan did an excellent job of keeping the group together and on schedule. The hotel accommodations were lovely and I enjoyed all the provided food options, as well as the frequent opportunities to stop and stretch and see a few extras along the way, such as the monument to King Leonidas. That was an added bonus that I didn’t expect and Jordan told the story of the Battle at Thermopyles well. All together a wonderful trip. Thank you!

Great memories

The whole experience was excellent, from our tour guide, driver, comfortable coach and amazing country side. Excellent tour.

Nice cost effective tour

Big group tour with good quality for the price. Delphi tour was good but the guide was explaining too much and kept the group under the sun until the last minute before the 30min free time. I was getting concerned that some elderly people might get a heat stroke in that weather. I don’t remember her name. She was wearing pink sunglasses. The hotel was pretty nice. Dinner was not good and breakfast was okay but can’t complain with this price. Monasteries tour was very good and relaxing. The guide and the driver were nice. The guide was explaining well and kept the balance of getting people involved and giving them rest. She was very patient with the big group. Forgot her name but she was very good. The driver George was very kind and very good at driving.

Meteora in winter

The landscape in Meteora and Delphi stunning. Could have done without some of the restaurant choices. Guide I had from Delphi to Meteora informational but did not engage otherwise.

So much driving

Delphi was amazing and we wish we had spent more time there. Meteora is a beautiful photo but was not as interesting. Both tour guides were well informed and interesting. Bus drivers were amazing. When we booked this, we saw the other reviews that commented on the drive time and said “meh we can handle it”. In retrospect, it was just too much time on a bus winding through mountains. Lovely but gave me motion sickness. We wish we had done the Delphi one day tour instead. If you are looking for a more complete agenda of the trip, here you go: Day 1 830 - leave Athens; stop about 1 hour from Delphi for restrooms 12 - 115 - view archeological site of Delphi (about 50 minutes with guide and 20 minutes on your own); museum is NOT included 115-145 - transfer to Amalia Delphi to join bus with tour group doing 4-day tour 2-3 - lunch in Delphi - tour services place but not bad 3-7 - drive to Kalabaka with 2 rest stops Stay overnight at Amalia Kalabaka - food here was bland and buffet style Day 2 815 - leave for Meteora 845- 1130 - Touring two monasteries with a couple picture stops; about 20-30 minutes on your own at each monastery 12 - 1 - lunch stop; this place was pretty bad but catered to large tour groups 1-7 - drive to Athens with 2 rest stops

Great experience Bus tour of Delphi and Meteora 2023

It was a great experience for both my Wife and me. The narrator and great driver (like a chauffeur) made the bus ride very comfortable and effective, with multiple rest stops, and stories. The Delphi and Meteora were must sees. Hotel and dinner stop for the overnight trip, were more than adequate, and wide distribution of food choices and desserts. Cost was appropriate. I have always been adverse to considering a bus tour. This changed my mind. An overnight bag was definitely a great idea, instead of our giant bags for our total 15 day trip.

LONG Bus Ride

This was a LONG two days of bus riding. The monasteries at Meteora are amazing and very worth visiting but after seeing the ancient monuments in Athens, Delphi didn’t seem as interesting (depends on your interest in seeing more ancient sites). Our tour guide from CHAT Tours, Dominique, was an excellent, knowledgeable guide.

Long couple days but definitely worth it....

Overall the trip was worthwhile, and very well organised This is a coach trip with over 400 miles round trip (from Athens and back to Athens) but you see a very different side of Greece which is beautiful On Day 1, we met a small group and travelled by mini bus to Delphi - the time here could have been longer and would have been nice to visit the museum however the tour guide was great and you got loads of information about the place that you couldn't get if you just tried to go on your own. The lunch place (Scala in Itea) on the first day had beautiful setting (across the sea) but was food was simple/tasteless and very expensive - I'd recommend just getting a sandwhich from the local shop! You then travelled up to Meteora to stay the night at a very simple clean place Note: 4* and 3* denotes the type of room you get. We did 4* and had a lovely sized room with balcony and king size bed! Day 2 you travel to 2 monasteries. The bus winds up the hill and stops to let you take photos from both above and below so you get some great photos. The monasteries are amazingly beautiful Note. Knee and shoulders have to be covered and women to wear skirts. I wrapped a large shawl over my trousers and that was acceptable (they do sell shawls for this as well!) Again the tour guide talks you through a lot you wouldn't get on your own and the views and architecture are just amazing The lunch on the second day was alot better, and more reasonable priced! The tour guide was great, even as you were driving she was going through stories of the area and information about where you were travelling through There was regular toilet breaks on any of the longer drives, at places you could get a drink and snack as well Its a long couple days, but I'd definitely recommend it!

Great value, excellent team!

This was a picturesque and relaxing way to visit a few key spots away from Athens, with no headaches. Two wonderful guides (Stefania and Dimitra) and two very skilled and smooth drivers (Nikos and Babys) made the trip fun, informative and stress-free. The included meals were buffet-style and at the Amalia hotel, quite good for this type of meal. Lunch stops were fine. The hotel was also fine for large group travel, we appreciated the huge pool! Overall, the guides, drivers and hotel were very organized and communicated with each other to make everything smooth for us. We would recommend this trip to others!

Beautiful scenery great guide not great food options

Delphi and Meteora are must see . The tour guide was very knowledgeable . I paid more for a 4 star hotel and so did some of the other passengers . We left wondering what we paid for . Don’t do the upgrade . Also I’ve never been on a tour where you couldn’t bring food and your own drink on the bus . I think part of the reason is so they can gouge you when you make your restroom stop . A bottle of soda was $4 euro . The second day we stopped for lunch at a place called palazzo. Long wait in line to get cold food $29 for not even warm food . Was told by other passengers that there got a great gyro from a different restaurant nearby for $5 So if you can avoid chat tour company I would

A lot of time in a mini van

It is a lot of time to spend in a minivan. There was very little leg room and we asked people seated in front of us not to recline their seats as the seats were rubbing on our knees. We enjoyed Delphi, however we were disappointed in our guide, Joy. Not a very interesting approach and voice was easy to tune out.We skipped ahead of the tour so we could get to the top of the sight to see the arena. Our next guide, Dimitra, was good, giving us enough information without overloading us. She handled a difficult situation well when roads were closed due to Storm Daniel. We were disappointed not to see the monasteries, but that was beyond tour control . From what we did see I would recommend going there. My recommendation would be to do a two night trip and would like to see a larger van

Spectacular views

Meteora monasteries are astounding. This tour enabled us to visit a couple and enjoy magnificent views of these rocky crags and barely believable constructions. The accompanying tour of Delphi was a great acheologcal/tourist experience. Well organised and informative trip

Good experience, would recommend

Guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Accommodations were a bit out dated, but clean. Food for dinner and breakfast at the hotel were ok There is an adequate amount of time at each site to explore and get some pictures, but if you are someone who like To take their time and explore you may feel rushed

Mystical Mountain Temples

My wife surprised me with this tour for our honeymoon - I had seen pictures of Meteora's monasteries but didn't know where they were until she showed me that she'd found and planned a trip to see them. Delphi was beautiful - we arrived during a lull in the rain and the sun hit the wet open floor tiles of Apollo's Temple to shimmering effect for great pictures. The long bus ride to (and from) Meteora - extended in our case due to avoiding areas of flooding from the unprecedented rainfall - was lightened by our knowledgeable, upbeat, and humorous tour guides. After an overnight stay and buffet at the glorious Amalia Hotel, we were graced at last with the once in a lifetime views and tours of the pillar-top monasteries. Words can't do them justice, nor can a 1000 pictures. You simply must go yourself!

Breathtaking views

The guide was very attentive, and the views were spectacular. I would have liked a little more time in Delphi, we were a little rushed.

Not bad but not so good tour

We felt we were rush to visit the ruins we didn’t even able togo visit the museum in Delphi because we have to leave snd transfer to another ride togo to the hotel in kalambaka the guide is nice but not that much knowledgeable about the places in meteora not like the guide in Delphi she is great i think not worth the money we paid

Delphi and Meteora incredible destinations

Due to flooding we experienced 10 hours extra bus time to get to the locations and subsequently missed out on time in the village and events the next night in Athens. Not arriving for dinner until 8:30 PM. There were many complaints about the lunch destination selected by the tour operator as a tourist trap, poor food, and expensive. It may have been better to take the train from Athens to Meteora. Aphrodite section of Delphi was unavailable to tour? Because we were moving to Meteora there was no time for us to go to the museum. For some reason the other tour companies had arrived hours ahead of our tour operator - CHAT from the same destinations?

I know the weather was not in your control but the arrangements were in your control.

The tour guides was excellent, knowledgeable and informative. The low rating was for the management team of the tour. It should have been cancelled due to the dangerous conditions of the weather. We were not being kept informed about the long delays, or alternative arrangements for hotel. The bus was extremely uncomfortable!! Very tight and temperature was difficult to control. For so many hours could not move. I can fly to Canada in mor comfortable conditions. We should be compensated in some way.

Bucket list tick

We had a fantastic time with the family beautiful hotel accomodation comfortable coach the drivers where fantastic and the guides where very knowledgeable. And the views my god the views where amazing big tick from a bucket list.

The time spent at Delphi...

The time spent at Delphi was rushed. We had to choose between seeing the ruins fully and the museum. That was disappointing after the long bus rides. The hotel for lunch the second day was average.

Excellent trip, great value

Excellent trip and excellent value. We loved our tour guide, and the driver did an expert job driving on the mountainous curvy roads. The bus was comfortable, the pace good, the hotel exceptional, and the meals very good. Overall, a great experience at a reasonable price. Highly recommend.

Exceptional

Tour guides & driver were great. Delphi - If you want to reach the top and a quick visit to the museum then you must leave the tour guide and head up. Worth the effort. The visit to the Monasteries were exceptional. Accommodation and meals were terrific. Value for money.

Good guides, nice places to visit. Would recommend to everyone. Very picturesque route. Good hotel with dinner and breakfast.

2 separate trips may be better

Meteora was incredible; we were not given hardly enough time in Delphi - we were rushed through and moved on so quickly. I cannot review Delphi for this reason. Our initial guide to Delphi appeared stressed and on edge - our guide to meteora was thorough and very helpful - the Amalia hotel was very nice and the food was incredible.

Depends what you want.

I was disappointed with the first day. We started combined with a 1 day tour, and there was confusion over what each tour was doing and when to get on a separate bus. We only got a short time at Delphi and no free time to explore ourselves, it was all at the direction of our guide. Her English was difficult to understand and her description of what would happen that day kept changing. It was frustrating and I was anxious I'd miss the changeover bus. The 2 day tour DOES NOT get to see the Delphi museum, which is next to the site and contains important artefacts that were referred to by the guide as she directed us around the site. It felt like we only had half the experience. This was all made up on the second day. The second guide for Meteroa could not have been more perfect. Friendly, informative, and she carefully explained each meeting point and activity. The trip to the monasteries was incredible, and made it all worthwhile. I didn't find the walk into each site difficult. The hotel is very nice. The bus rides had regular bathroom breaks at places food and drinks can be bought. I recommend the tour, but if you are mainly interested in Delphi, just do the 1 day tour.

Strange setup, better second half.

This was a very disjointed tour. We started the first day with one tour guide at Delphi, I would rate lower. I couldn’t hear half of what she said on the bus on the way. I wish we had more time at Delphi (although the heat maybe changes that). Then we were sent to a different tour guide (a group that had been together for a couple of days on a longer group tour). This tour guide was much better and the group was much smaller. I wish I had been with them from the beginning. The second half of this trip was significantly better than the first half (even including having our bus break down and being stranded on the highway for 1 1/2 hours in extreme heat). The would rate my second half 5/5 but the first 3/5 at the highest…. I didn’t like switching groups part way through. I felt awkward joining a group that had been together for a while already.

Delphi and Meteroea tour time is not balanced at all for 2 days trip.

Delphi tour was essentially provided for an hour before the bus transfer to Metroea. That is not enough to cover 30% of the ruins. Not to mention about the time to visit stadium and Museum.

Great trip. Bus journeys flew by thanks to great guides who constantly had information, history and mythology to share with us along the journey. Delphi was fantastic to see but Meteora was truly worth the trip. It was almost surreal seeing it real life. Again, our guides made the experience by giving us a deep understanding of these monuments.

Explore Delphi and Meteora

We have to combine with other tour group after visiting Delphi but everything was well organised and easy. Worry free of the luggages transfer as they were all taken care and managed. Our guide George is funny and knowledgeable. Overall a pleasant trip.
