This was hands down the highlight of my trip to Costa Rica! The entire experience was thrilling and unforgettable, from rappelling down waterfalls to canyoning through stunning gorges and rafting in the rushing rivers. Each activity was incredibly well-organized, and the natural beauty of La Fortuna made it even more magical. To be honest, I was initially quite nervous because I’m afraid of heights, but the guides were so professional, patient, and reassuring that I felt completely safe the entire time. Their encouragement helped me overcome my fears, and by the end of the day, I felt a newfound sense of confidence and accomplishment. The service was top-notch, and the team went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a fantastic time. I would 100% recommend this activity to anyone visiting La Fortuna—it’s an absolute must-do! Without this adventure, my trip to Costa Rica wouldn’t have been nearly as memorable. This experience truly exceeded all my expectations!

Best finish of 2024

We had an amazing experience with Manual on a river. We were a big family group with 2 kids and everyone had an experience of the life time. We also enjoyed stories about local culture and delicious lunch! This is a must do your!!!

The guides were so awesome! All three of my boys from age 10-18 says this was their favorite activity!!!

Costa Rica has so many great activities to choose from! This one was so active from beginning to end it was hands down my kids' favorite. If you have teenage boys you know how hard it is to get that kind of compliment. The guides made us feel so at ease and were so kind to us, they made us feel like a part of their rappelling family!

Way Better than I’ve Expected

First time to do this activity and j must say, it is waaaayyy better than i’ve expected!!! it was fun and exciting but at the same time, you feel safe even if you’re in the middle of rampaging river or hanging 60 mtrs above the ground facing a waterfall!!! will definitely do it again!!!!

Excellent in every way! We were a party of 6 including 70 + yr old grandparents, adults in their 40’s and teen aged kids. We all had a blast! Guide Kenneth and his partner guide were very safety conscious as well as super fun, friendly and engaging. The experience is challenging! Lots of hiking through slippery riverbeds and water, plus 5 great repelling experiences and 2 zip lines. The backward repel landing in a cold plunge was exhilarating!… sheer fun! Ended with an easy zip line and lunch at a cute spot. All well organized and memorable!

If you are pressed for time to get in all of your Costa Rican experiences, this tour is the perfect choice. You zip line, canyon,forge through a river and feel safely taken care of by the guides the whole time. Even includes a typical Costa Rican meal after the tour. Just do it, you won’t regret.

Absolute must do! The best experience ever.

The best experience and best company ever! We did the canyoning/rafting combo a few days ago and it was one of the best experiences we have ever done. There were 4 of us (2 adults and a 14 and 12 year old). My wife was absolutely terrified and really annoyed with me for booking this 🙈 but the whole team there were absolutely fantastic with all of us. They are all really kind, funny, knowledgable and experienced. My wife shed a few tears before doing the first rappell but the team were inspirational in helping her and she was so happy, confident and loved the whole experience. We all absolutely loved it, it’s such a beautiful place as well and would recommend this experience and this company every time. Plus they send you photos and videos with no extra charge (some really funny ones too!!). Never Too Old, at least not yet.

When we booked this trip for our family, my husband and I thought that we would stand aroud and take pictures of the kids and grandchildren having fun. When we got to the Maquique Adventure, the guides told us that we would be fine, so we did it, and what a blast! My husband and I each got our own guide, I had Victor, and all the guides took such good care of us. We were able to do everything the kids did, and it was so exciting and fun. Victor never left my side, and when I had to do the jumps alone, he was waiting for me when I landed. I gained confidence and the last waterfall zipline I did with my 10 year old granddaughter. The walks through the water with wet, slippery rocks were challenging, but Victor made sure that I was safe. He allowed me to go at my own pace and I am very grateful to him and this whole company for their dedication to safety and family fun.

Amazing family adventure day in Costa Rica with Maquique Adventure.

Maquique was absolutetly top notch from the pickup in the morning to the final dropoff. We did the all day Canyoning and Rafting trip as a family of 4 with 2 kids 13 and 10. This was our last adventure day in Costa Rica and beat out everything else we did. We started with the Canyoning with Kenneth, Kennth, Befferson and one other guide. There were multiple different types of rappels and 2 ziplines with the last being a long zipline across the canyon back to the starting point. We had never rappeled and the guides made us feel exceptionally safe throughout the trip. The pointed out different wildlife on our journey and were very knowledgable about the area. They also would take any pictures you wanted and sent them all at the end of the night. They videoed all of us doing several of the rappels and really did a great job. At the end of the Canyoning our 2 kiddos said this was hands down the best thing they had ever done. At the end of the Canyoning, we had some fruit and small snacks and loaded into one of the vans for about a 40minute trip to the Rafting dropin. Along the way the rafting guides talked to us about all the different type of farms we were passing and the local Costa Rican economy. We stopped at a little store part of the way to our destination for a bathroom break and to buy any drinks, snacks we wanted. One of our guides spooted a sloth in a tree and it just happened to have a little baby sloth in tow so that was an amazing thing to see. There were 8 total people on the trip the day we went so we split into 2 groups of 4 on the rafts with guides Carlos and Mario. Our family had never been whitewater rafting and Carlos was so patient and helpful with all of us. They also had 3 safety kayakers in the water for extra safety and to take pictures that they sent at the end of the night. The first half of the approximatetly 2 hours of the rafting trip was intense and awesome all at the same time. Our entire family really felt safe and like we were in the hands of a true river expert as Carlos took us down the river. When we finished our kids once again changed their mind to saying whitewater rafting was now the hands down best thing we did. All the pictures in this post were taken by our guides and sent to us at the end of the night free of charge. They also sent us videos of several of our rappels. They really were amazing.

We loved our canyoning and rafting experience! The guides were fun and professional, the equipment was well maintained and the natural beauty and adrenaline rush was unmatched. There are a lot of tour options but you really can’t go wrong with Maquique.

Bucket list experience! We have rafted and rappelled many times in different countries. The day we spent rafting, rappelling and zip lining with Maquique was by far the BEST experience we have ever had! From the guides to the people behind the scenes, there aren’t enough words to describe the day! Special shout out to Mariano, our whitewater guide, who joined us for his first time trying the waterfall rappelling. What a day!! Every person who works at Maquique is TOP NOTCH!! MUST DO!! TRUST ME

THIS IS A MUST DO ACTIVITY!!!! From start to finish one of the best excursions I've had and worth every penny. The guides (Kenneth and Kenneth) are very nice, experts on safety (both in the air and on the rocky terrain on the ground), and highly knowledgeable about the rainforest and costa rica in general. The bonus was that they took soooo many good pictures for us as a gift. No pressure to buy anything. This was challenging, thrilling, and safe all at the same time. You will have a great time.

The perfect introduction to canyoning and whitewater rafting!

Maquique did an absolutely amazing job making the canyoning and whitewater rafting tour safe, interesting, thrilling, and entertaining. All of the staff were some of the friendliest I’ve come across in Costa Rica. They were happy doing what they do, and that made the experience infinitely more enjoyable. Pictures were taken during both canyoning and rafting, and were sent to us free of charge. This was really appreciated, as most tours make you pay extra. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this tour and Maquique as a whole. I would gladly take the tour again whenever I come back to La Fortuna.

Great canyoning and white water rafting combined tour - good safety conscious guides, free photos

Canyoning course is amazing - through a beautiful jungle valley with some really amazing waterfalls to rappel down. Great guides who were very safely conscious - lots of checking of harnesses, safety lines and so on as you go round the course. Were great with everyone (our kids 8 and 10 loved it). Rappel drop into water about half way through is fun, as is the last 60 metre waterfall. We did the combined tour, so after end of canyoning some pineapple then a bus ride to the white water rafting on the Rio Balsa. Again great, and very safety conscious guides. Nice stop for fruit down the river (and can of beer at the end). Free photos / videos as well which is a nice bonus

Great experience and even better guides!

Hands down was such a good experience! We did the canyoning and rafting combo! For the canyoning we had Rondito and Jairo! They were so personable and fun to hang out with!! We got snacks and lunch and even had pictures being take on us!! Then we went rafting with Mario, Gustavo and Francisco! Super Mario was a fantastic raft guide! They helped answer all of our questions and taught us so much! I highly recommend this company!!

Best Tour EVER!!!!

This was among the best adventures I've ever been on, anywhere in the world. The guides were awesome, the natural beauty of the area was like nothing I've ever seen before. The repelling part was my favorite, so exhilarating!

Fantastic guides who made it truly amazing

My wife and I were super impressed with all of the staff of Maquique Adventures. They were all super friendly and took everyone's safety extremely serious. We felt comfortable and at ease the entire time. We'd originally signed up for the combo white water rafting and canyoning but after a long day of travel the day before decided to split it into two days, which they easily changed for us. We went water water rafting the first day and Francisco was our guide and he was one of the best we've had in all of our travels and excursions. We had a blast with him and loved learning more about the wildlife and environment. After rafting, you've given an authentic Costa Rican lunch where you can choose either chicken or beef and both come with rice, beans, and fried plantain. The next day we did the canyoning and found that to be even more fun. It's a lot of hiking on some challenging trails so be prepared. I was grateful that my wife had purchased both of us Merrill water/hiking shoes and would definitely not wear tennis shoes and socks. We felt very safe on this, other than you have to be careful. You get the same lunch as for water water rafting. I recommend doing both of these adventures but if you only have time for one, I'd pick canyoning.

Highlight of our trip

My husband & I did the canyoning and whitewater rafting combo. It was the highlight of our trip. Both were amazing! Canyoning offered multiple waterfall repels and a couple zip lines. The most challenging part was the limited hiking between repels and up at the end. The water was much warmer than expected and it felt totally safe. Rafting was quite a rush. We had never rafted before but the instructions were easy. It was so fun. Again the water was warmer than I expected. The rapids were slightly challenging but never felt like more than we could handle. The guides were amazing! In the lazy part of the river we even saw a sloth. And the safety staff/guides shoot video/photos the entire time and give you the footage for FREE. They capture all of the memories to share with family or friends. Highly recommend!

Great guides, beautiful experience

Amazing!! The property where we did the canyoning is spectacular. The waterfalls are breathtaking. I could spend a day just hiking there. We are a family of four with kids aged 9 and 13 and everyone had a blast. The guides are fantastic. So careful about safety but also fun and knowledgeable about the ecology of Costa Rica. Really glad we found this tour company.

Exhilarating and beautiful!

This was by far the best tour of the trip! We spent the morning canyoning with a small group. The knowledgeable, attentive staff ensured we could all safely enjoy the adventure of waterfall rappelling, ziplining, and hiking along (and through) the river. The trails are beautiful and very well maintained. After canyoning, we headed to the rafting site. The Balsa river’s non-stop rapids were exhilarating, and Mario made sure we knew how to work as a team so we could make the most of our afternoon on the river. I can’t say enough about the Maquique staff. All were friendly and helpful, and they really seemed to enjoy their work and to respect and care for the environment.

The Best Yet!

Super Mario was the best guide! His training was clear, his directions were perfect, his knowledge of the area and animals he shared was great, he even saved my friend when she went flying off the raft! It was so much fun, I would highly recommend. Not only was everyone personable and nice, but the food offered was great and the experience was unforgettable. This was my favorite experience in Costa Rica so far.

Amazing tour and company!!

I HIGHLY recommend that you take this tour with Maquique! It was one of our favorite tours of the 3 weeks we spent in Costa Rica. We seriously cannot thank William and "super" Mario enough for the amazing memories they helped create. It was so much fun rappelling down waterfalls and then going straight into white water rafting. I also want to stress how safe we felt the whole time - every single one of the guides made sure we felt comfortable and always watched out for us. I spent a lot of time reviewing all the companies before booking this one and I am so glad that I did - best one by far!!

Highlight of our trip!

Spent ten days in Costa Rica, and the day with Maquique was the highlight of everyone’s trip. We did rappelling and zip lines in the morning, then drove to Sarapiqu river for white water rafting in the afternoon. Mario was an excellent river guide. We stopped for some of the best food before and after rafting. All the guides are very attentive, intelligent, and fun to be around. Highly highly recommend this company.

Must-Do Tour in La Fortuna with the Best Tour Guides!!

An absolute must-do tour in La Fortuna with the best tour guides! My friends and I did the canyoning and rafting tour, and it was the highlight of our trip!! Our tour guides (Super Mario, Dario, and Jiaro) were phenomenal! First and foremost, I felt safe 100% of the time with their knowledge and equipment used. Next, I loved the little facts about the surrounding nature that was provided. Lastly, they enhanced our experienced to have an absolutely AMAZING adventure! The canyoning through the water fall was so much fun with great views. The rafting was exhilarating, but very safe. The location had spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano as well. The fruit in between each tour was very refreshing, but their restaurant food takes the cake. This was the best authentic Costa Rican food I had the entire trip and very delicious. Probably my favorite aspect was all the pictures the tour guides took and allowed for us to have for FREE, very uncommon as far as yours go. I cannot recommend this tour enough!! If I ever have the opportunity again, I will be booking another tour with them!!!

Absolutely amazing! Everything you could ever want from a tour company! What a wonderful adventure filled with spectacular views of waterfalls, Arenal Volcano, and river. Our tour guides (Super Mario, Dario, & Jiahato) were phenomenal! First, I always felt 100% safe and trusted the knowledge of my tour guides and the equipment used during canyoning, zip lining, and rafting. I loved the random facts about the area and nature that Dario and Mario gave during each tour. Beyond that, they went above and beyond to make the tours very fun! The fruit in between and during the tours was delicious but the meal afterwards was perfection. The food at their restaurant was som elf the best traditional Costa Rican food I’ve had in Costa Rica. Overall, in my opinion, this is the the must-do tour when in La Fortuna!!

Best Tour Ever 🌿

Best tour we’ve ever been on!!!! The guides were amazing! We felt safe. My mom, who is 67, came with us and they were very accommodating and took great care of her. The guides were knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in area and took the time to teach us about them. We never felt rushed. The guides were happy and excited to be there with us. We did the combo tour (rafting at Sarapiqui, ziplining, and canyoning). Gorgeous scenery. We had two lunches (before and after rafting) and fruit (during rafting). The best food we’ve had during our whole trip. Not sure if that is normal but they made us feel really special. Free photos are an awesome plus too! Thank you to all the guides. I was in La Fortuna Costa Rica alone with my 2 youngest daughters 7 and 9 yo. We did a combo Rappelling/ Rafting tour with Maquique. These guys are amazing. What an amazing experience! Our group of 4 did the canyoning and rafting combo and we had more fun than we could’ve even expected. Highlight of our trip to Costa Rica! Our guides are extremely knowledgable and welcoming. William picked us up in the morning. We did canyoning with a small group of 4 visitors, with 3 guides Kenneth, Dario and David. They took pictures and videos for us, pointed out insects and animals, and took good care of us. It was really fun! After breakfast, which was extremely delicious, We went rafting with Carlo And Mario. We were the only two ppl and so William’s son also joined us to keep the raft balanced. I did rafting couple times before but nothing compares to this! It was exciting with the speed of the water, but also super easy for us with Carlo’s instruction. Carlo also found us sloths! And Mario took. Great videos for us along the way. We had fruits and traditional dishes after rafting. Loved it! 100% recommend this trip!!

Must-do adventure in Costa Rica!

The combo white water rafting and canyoning with Maquique Adventure was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica! The canyoning was absolutely incredible - we ziplined out from the platforms and rappelled down waterfalls (prepare to get wet!) with stunning views. There were about 5 rappels and 2 ziplines of increasing height. The guides (including Jairo) were so helpful and knowledgeable - they adjusted all the zipline/rappelling equipment for us and always had one guide at the bottom and one on the top of the platform to help guide you down and control your speed. The last zipline was super fun, you can race at the same time as someone else over a field full of cows and do tricks (like hanging upside down). After the canyoning in the morning, we had a short break at the restaurant with a snack and then continued on to the white water rafting. The white water rafting led by our guide Mario (Super Mario!) was so much fun. We were in the boat with 4 others (7 people total with the guide) and saw sloths and other wildlife along the river and stopped for a break of fresh pineapple and watermelon. The rapids were fun and challenging but not too difficult to manage, especially with Mario's steering. After the rafting, we returned to the restaurant around 3pm for lunch which was delicious and included. Overall I would highly recommend this experience to everyone visiting Costa Rica! We'll never forget this amazing adventure.

Adventure Seekers

The entire staff was very knowledgeable and made the experience exciting and most importantly safe for our family of four. We have 2 boys (9 and 12 years) that has been rafting once before. They loved the rapids at the beginning of the trip and got to even float down the river outside the raft towards the end of the trip. Our guide “Super Mario” was great. Ask for him and he won’t disappoint. The canyoning (repelling) was the highlight of the trip. 5 repels and 2 zip lines with an additional surprise zip was truly amazing. Again the guides were great. Our boys are adventurous and this was right up their alley. Pictures and videos were provided for no extra charge and turned out great but nothing like being there in person and seeing it for yourself. Highly recommend this trip for adventure seekers.

Best Adventure Package in Costa Rica

This package has it all! We chose the Zipline/Rappelling/Rapids combo and could not have been happier. Our group consisted of experienced adventurers and novices and the Maquique team catered to all of our needs. The adventure begins with breakfast at a traditional Costa Rican restaurant and continues with a jeep ride up to the tour's base camp in the rain forest. Once there, thorough instruction on rappelling alleviates most anxiety (you still are jumping down waterfalls!) - and the adventure begins. Every part of the experience is breathtaking. The hike, ziplining and rappelling are equally thrilling and there are a few surprises along the way. Our guides William and Jairo made sure the novices were ready and by the time we reached the last drop, all of us were ready for more. After another satisfying meal we were ready for the Level 2/3 rapids which somehow managed to equal the thrills of the morning activities. Super Mario was a tremendous guide/captain who somehow kept us all in the boat and maximized the excitement.

Pura Vida…..Maquique!!! A must experience!!!

Such a great experience and decision! The Maquique team is top notched!! Real experts in canyoning and whitewater rafting! Kenneth and David were our canyoning guides and they walked us through the process step by step and gradually increased our comfort, and competence in rappelling and increased the level of difficulty each time. An exhilarating and empowering experience! Once we were done, we had overcome our fears and proven to ourselves the ability to traverse the mountainous landscape. We experienced howler monkeys, sloths and other indigenous wildlife during the trip in both settings. We transitioned from the canyoning first to whitewater rafting. Our rafting guide was Super Mario! We have rafted in the Blue Ridge mountains before, and this was even more intense…and definitely a more lengthy experience! Tons of fun, and excitement. Looking forward to leveling up next time to class 3/4! William was our driver and shared great insights about Costa Rica that aided us in understanding the landscape and culture even better! To top it off, great meals, snacks and pictures (over 150 pics) were included in the package! I would extend my highest recommendation to choose Maquique!!! Pura Vida!!!!!

Fantastic activity

We visited as part for a combo package with Arenal rafting. The three guides on our tour were friendly, fun and enthusiastic. They really made the activity as fun as it was. They also took photos which they shared with us at the end for free which was a lovely touch We felt safe at all times and really enjoyed the ziplining and rappelling activities. Nothing was rushed but the time went so quickly we were having so much fun. You get lunch at a local restaurant afterwards which was also delicious

Best adventure day of our trip!

The folks at Maquique Adventure really know what they're doing and structure their packages for maximum fun. My husband and I did the the combo waterfall rappelling and whitewater rafting trip (led by La Fortuna Rafting company) and it was the perfect amount thrills interspersed with hiking in a beautiful forest, seeing cool wildlife along the flat stretches of the river, and eating delicious fruit and traditional Costa Rican food for lunch! Since we were just 2 people, we were paired with another family of 4 for the whole day, and that was nice too to have small group sizes and be able to go through the whole experience together.
