Fantastic Day Out

Enjoyed the commentary, provided by the bus driver, pointing out historical sites enroute to the Murray River departure site. Food was great onboard, and the scenery was beautiful.

Up a lazy river

Unhurried and able to step away from the daily hustle and bustle of one’s usual daily life. Good way to see outlying areas.

Truth of our trip

The photo of the food-table (showing seafood, salad etc.) in the advertisement photos is not true at all. The only option they distributed was chicken. I shared a photo of my lunch when I asked VEG option. My wife was also unhappy why the driver never react or respond when we say Thank you. Other things were good.

It was a great day with great weather.

What a relaxing experience and no driving just sit back and enjoy 😊. Weather was good. Enjoyed the chocolate Melba Factory.

Disappointed

Having done a previous tour with this company and being impressed this tour was a disappointment. On the way we are advised the tour had changed. Replacement boat was run down, food was substandard, no time in Mannum as stated. Arrived at chocolate factory 10 mins before closing and cheese factory was closed. We were not advised of the changes prior to our tour.

Peaceful Murray River Cruise

Lovely cruise along the Murray River. Captain was very knowledgeable about history of the boats in the river

The cruise and fantastic lunch. Crew were most helpful and friendly especially to the elderly. Have already recommended to our friends.

Disappointed

Food was not main dish and Cruise was .... It was not worth the money. Bus trip ok and chauffeur was great.

Was a beautiful day spent with friends and relaxing and learning about the Murray River. The tour guide was very professional.

A peaceful Aussie experience

A lovely day out. Very peaceful. Trip down the Murray on a paddle steamer was really good, Shame it couldn't be just a bit longer. Food on the boat was 1st class. Super tasty. After the cruise we got free time in the town of Mannum but it was probably too long, very quiet town with not alpt to see (museum closed due to flooding earlier this year) On the way back we stopped at Melbas chocolate factory and there was a cheese place next door but it was closing. Our driver, Michael, was fantastic. We felt very safe, and he was full of local information. I would highly recommend this day trip.

Experience not to be missed

Seeing the height of the River and the bird life. Seeing how the boat people live on their houseboats. Great sight seeing opportunity and the views from the Lookout. Seeing the Barges at work and how busy they both are. Was an experience that I had wanted for a long while and wasn’t disappointed.

Very friendly environment

This was the best tour we had in our trip to Adelaide. The food was good and the staff were friendly. The cruise was excellent.

Bus driver was wonderful and full of local knowledge along the way . If we had a question he would answer if he knew. Told funny stories/jokes and you could understand him .

Day trip to the Murray River

Roger our driver gave a lot of information as we drove to Mannon and then onto the Proud Mary. Given morning tea and virtually straight into lunch. It was a nice meal but portions were't very big. Had a chance to see birds on the river. Didn't go far really as only a 2 hr trip while the longer cruise people were ashore at Mannon. It was a very cold wind. We had time to walk around Mannon but found anything interesting was closed. It was quite dead really. Area had suffered from the earlier floods. Stopped at Chocolate and Cheese factories . No demonstrations or tastings - just buying . An interesting drive through the countryside but not an exciting day.

Excellent trip

Comfortable bus trip. Excellent driver with great information. Enjoyed the stops especially the chocolate factory! Lunch cruise was superb. Great food and we were very lucky it was such a beautiful day 😊

Great day out.

Excellent, knowledgeable bus driver, well timed tour with plenty of free time to explore Mennam. The food on the Proud Mary was second to none. The trip was well priced & good value for money.

The river was amazing. Coach driver Phil was excellent so much knowledge about the area and very friendly. Food and team on board were good and I’d recommend this trip as a great experience

Good bus trip to Manum ,comfortable coach.Excited for the cruise.Little disappointed in itinerary said buffet lunch but was given meal 10min after departure with no choice.Meals were rushed to cater for next tour left feeling unimportant by staff rushing around.Good stop at Melbas chocolate

The Murray River Day trip was great. The commentary from the bus driver was very good & the river cruise & lunch was worth doing. I recommend doing this day trip.

Cruising down the Murray

Cruising was very nice not long enough though all the trees on the banks and a light drizzle was great lunch was delicious

Too rushed - one hour and a quarter in Mannum with nothing interesting to do.

Not a lot! Cruise on Proud Mary only 1and a half hours. We’re served morning tea which was lovely but ten minutes they called us for lunch- way too rushed.

Sailing down the river

The coach driver/ guide was excellent very informative. The boat itself was a big disappointment. If your going to sell this trip at least put the right boat in the picture. Was nothing like the one in the picture which I'm sure everyone was expecting. The lunch it self was ok but the staff were excellent that served it.

Great day tour organised by Roger Brock ,Ambler Touring. Went beyond the norm to create a great experience. Highly recommended personal touch. Informative drive through the Adelaide hills before arriving on the Murray. Good cruise and lunch with informative commentary. Good drive back through the Adelaide hills .

Interesting “main course” but disappointing “side dishes”.

The guide was knowledgeable and we appreciated the information he gave all along the way. The lunch on the Proud Mary was good and the “ride” pleasant. BUT Mannum is an unattractive and uninteresting town. What are we supposed to do for the hour we are left there when ambling down both sides of the streets takes 15 minutes? There are no shops to speak of and we’ve just had lunch so there is no desire to stop at a pub or bakery. There certainly is a more interesting town to stop at along the way. The stop at Melba’s chocolate factory was equally appalling.They do not offer any tastings. Must blind faith lead us to believe that this chocolate is above par and worth buying? All in all the secondary stops should be better chosen.

Mary not so proud of the floods

Seeing the flooded river banks brought home the reality of climate change. Very sad. Impressed by welcome of a Cornish Cream Tea with the cream correctly on top of the jam. Disappointed by lack of vegetarian option for lunch. Coach from Adelaide was comfortable with pickup and drop off on time. Interesting scenery en route to boat.

A worthwhile trip

Our bus driver Mark whose knowledgeable commentary and sense of humour just made our day. Lovely lunch and great crew.

Nice relaxing day, no need for driving so could enjoy a bevy with lunch. Friendly guide/driver Shame the cheese place was closed but a good day out overall

Great day on the Murray. Les our driver very informative and friendly. The proud mary was fabulous. Visits to Mannum and the chocolate and cheese factory was great

A pleasant day trip from...

A pleasant day trip from Adelaide. Les our driver was very good. Weather on the day was perfect. Morning tea & lunch on the boat was good while cruising the river. Sadly the boat wasn't a paddle wheeler.

Disappointing

Getting back home off the bus The trip was horrible nothing to see but water, over crowded boat, very small meal like an appetiser for lunch.

Not worth the money

Very disappointing I went on this trip on my birthday and it was a disappointment from the start. We couldn’t hear the bus driver Les so we had no idea what was going on. We left Adelaide bus terminal at 9.15 am on a full bus load. We travelled to Mannum for an hour and half with little information coming from driver. We arrived at Mannum about 10.30 and was ushered on board the Proud Mary which didn’t even have its paddle on the back anymore. We were seated with bottled water and glasses on table and then handed our morning tea without any knowledge of when or where we could get a cup of tea or coffee. Finally found out after most had eaten morning tea we had to help ourselves. The inside was very crowded and one lady didn’t even have a seat. We were squashed in with little room. The lunch served was extremely small one piece of half a chicken wing with 2 chips 6 peas and some mashed pumpkin. Not enough for a child even. There was little commentary as there wasn’t much to see. After disembarking we spent an hour in Mannum where at least we could get something to eat. Half an hour at chocolate factory, and cheese place, no tastings just sales. I would have preferred to go to the giant rocking horse. We were so glad to get back to Adelaide and get off the bus. When we arrived at bus terminal the arm gate wouldn’t open to let us in and we had to wait for driver to phone someone to open it. Not a good day all round. Definitely not worth the money we paid.

Murray River Day Trip from Adelaide with lunch

Loved cruising the Murray - it was magic! The cruise was very short (2 hour total). Would have loved a longer time on board. Lunch was tasty but chicken serving was so tiny! Spent too much time in Mannum and at chocolate shop - would have preferred a longer cruise on the Murray instead or an earlier Adelaide return.

Disappointing and no spectacular scenery

Disappointing. Basically a long coach trip through the hills, followed by lunch on a boat. Not much commentary on the trip. The boat and lunch was fine but there was little to see on the “cruise”, just an expanse of river water and no “magnificent landscapes and spectacular cliffs” as it had been advertised.

Murray River trip

A lovely trip on the Murray River. Thoroughly enjoyed that part. The lunch however was mediocre as the chicken thighs were pink in the middle. Everyone on our table left much of it. Others did too. I am not sure the cheese and chocolate visit added much to the days trip.

Relaxing and beautiful

A great group on the bus and a great tour guide. The lunch was great nice relaxing time. A bit foggy in the morning but it turned out to be a beautiful day great company and tour guide.

Lovely boat trip & nice lunch

Nice relaxing 3 hours with good, simple, food & a fully stocked bar. I had a great time. My mum, who I was travelling with, got a bit bored towards the end. But I could travel on water for weeks. So I was in my rlement

Great day out enjoying the views on the Captain Proud. Social interaction was enjoyable whilst eating and cruising along the Murray. Stopover at Chocolate Factory and nearby Cheese Factory was useful too. The driver/guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Thank you.

Excellent service

The fine dining. It was amazing. The crew was very friendly, so was the Captain. It was a very relaxing and time went by too quickly. Hope yo be back for a longer cruise.

Trip was a bit long but commentary and meal good. Handy to have a taste of the ship before considering a longer trip.

Trip was memorable in all...

Trip was memorable in all aspects but meal was poor. It was only a main course with two small bits of chicken, two other courses were ice-cream and biscuits with whipped cream, quality of dishes quite well but amount is very poor as I consider Thai ice-cream and biscuits are not a sufficient meal.

Great trip

Great day spent on the Murray River on the Proud Mary. Delicious lunch. We had beautiful weather. John, the bus driver was very friendly and informative.
