Fascination historical site

The palace shows the contrasts between the old city and the new being the oldest structure in Abu Dhabi. The palace has been restored and you can now wonder through the halls and courtyards to see how people lived at that time. Surprisingly the palace is similar to the idea of how the wealthy must of lived at that time. It does look like what most Americans would think life would be like here today instead of the modern ideals that the country now embraces an in a way has surpassed us. Just to see the modern city in the background is worth the trip.

Buy ticket in office not here

The ticket pickup was horrible. Got the email with Voucher and it still requires to pick up the ticket in Qasr Al Hosn office. And NO one in ticket office is redeeming the voucher. The ticket officer has to call in his supervisor and check the system booking to issue tickets for us. 40 mins for pick the ticket. And there is no fast track cuz there were basically no lines to anything. I suggest anyone who wants to visit Qasr Al Hosn to buy ticket directly from their ticket office.

Amazing experience. 100% worth a visit. Great to learn the history of Abu Dhabi and see the museum pieces.

Unexpected Delight

Really interesting place, great history of Abu Dhabi. It didn't seem like it was typically filled with tourists, which is a shame but also good as you have space to walk around and enjoy it. The old building in amongst all the new was quite something and the Artisan House was also worth the stop, especially the coffee ceremony. Be aware though that only part of the visit is in air conditioning. There is a good bit outside so it will be hot. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Abu Dhabi!

Qasr Al Hosn Fort is the oldest stone building in Abu Dhabi.

The 250-year-old fort, Qasr Al Hosn, also known as the White Fort or Old Fort, is a historic building known to be the oldest stone building in Abu Dhabi and a symbol of the UAE's ruling family. It was designed by Mohammed Al Bastaki and built in 1761. The Qasr al-Hosn is currently a museum displaying artifacts and pictures representing the history of the country. You should definitely visit it if you want to know about the history of the country you are in!

Stunning architecture and interior

This is definitely worth a visit! The palace is amazing, absolutely beautiful and the exhibits and information inside were interesting, a good way to learn some of the history of Abu Dhabi. At night, there was a sound and light show on the front of the palace which was worth waiting for. (In February, it was at 7.30 but presumably, the time changes at different times of year.)

Fantastic

If you are going to visit anywhere in AD go here. A must for its history - its prominence cannot be understated. It was there before anything else. The photos and history are amazing. Great value - it cost more for a coffee outside the grounds...! Dont miss it - give the malls a miss!

Historic fort

It is the place where the regent family used to be, today there are 2 forts. An external one with the highest and safest walls and a smaller internal one. All around there is a very nice new area recently created where the locals go for a walk and eat something.In an hour you finish the visit. The fort was reopened after construction work and is now open to visitors and is worth it if you are in the area.

Special View of the History of Abu Dhabi

A special look into the history of Abu Dhabi. You can casually walk around the fort and palace and take in the history of the city while seeing the modern city just outside the gates. There is even the oldest known structure in Abu Dhabi within the fort. It is quite well done. There was even a falcon and dancers out side the fort performing and my children really enjoyed.

A reflective place to learn more about the history of the city

As the oldest building in Abu Dhabi this restored fort is a reminder of just how fast this city has grown. There is a picture in one of the upstairs rooms of the fort when it was built - it is the only substantial building surrounded by desert. Today, it is surrounded by skyscrapers and shopping malls. We visited on a quiet evening and really appreciated the chance to take our time. The exhibits and displays are all quite personal and relate to the ruling family. Anecdotes and stories brought the city’s development to life for me.

Historical highlight

A rare historic building of significance in the UAE, Qasr Al Hosn has been carefully renovated and contains fascinating displays about its changing uses over the years, from fort to centre of administration and government. It’s highly educational and at the same time conveys the pace and scale of change in Abu Dhabi. There are some great exhibits and wonderful photographs. It’s advisable to explore all the site as there are fresh insights and displays in different areas (maybe a little more signposting or a brief guide book would be helpful?). The adjacent House of Artisans has also got a good exhibition about the historic role of handcrafting in earlier times. The location of Qasr Al Hosn amongst present-day skyscrapers is real food for thought. Great that it has been so well preserved and presented, and if you want to know more about Abu Dhabi’s history, well worth a visit.

Learning about Abu Dhabi’s history

This is the most ancient building in Abu Dhabi. It’s fantastic to walk through it discovering about how Abu Dhabi was before the discovery of petrol. Definitely recommended!

White Fort

In 2018 Qasr Al Hosn was turned into a museum. It’s taken more than eleven years to restore it. Now it’s open to the public. To enter you must purchase a ticket. Qasr Al Hosn was originally the home of the ruling family Al Nahyan. A historical place in Abu Dhabi, worth visiting to see the local Arab culture. Built in 1790 it’s the oldest building in Abu Dhabi. The fort was named White Fort because it used to shine so bright. The fort inside was built in 1795. Most stunning when viewed at night with all the lights and tall buildings behind.

Fantastic Cultural Outing!

What a wonderful surprise! The space to display art is remarkable. The staff at the art installations, Artisan Center and fort were all amazing! It is the perfect half day out with family or friends. Well worth the visit.

Understanding Abu Dhabi

A short, fairly quick visit to the completely restored fort (too much...?) and discover, with documents and objects, the evolution of Abu Dhabi.

Nice place but Terribly arranged by TripAdvisor.

The experience in it was genuinely fun and the history was very interesting to see. But getting in was a hassle. We did not receive a QR Code from TripAdvisor and at the counter they kept asking for it and said that our booked tickets were not valid. We contacted TripAdvisor, but we received little response. Which was anything but helpful. If we had any sympathy with us, we were allowed to take 1 spot. We didn't get in everywhere because we didn't have a code from TripAdvisor. Really poorly organised. It was hot +-40° and we had to wait and wait in the full sun and no response from TripAdvisor. Never do that again, at least I will never book through TripAdvisor again. There was no communication between TripAdvisor and the employee at the desk. I was also advised to call a crazy American (TripAdvisor) number which of course would cost extra money.

Le plus vieux bâtiment d'Abu Dhabi. Superbement restauré. Vous pourrez y découvrir de nombreux documents sur Cheik Zayed, fondateurs des EAU, ainsi que sur sa famille. Lieu représentant le passé entouré de hauts buildings modernes. Assez surprenant.

Bellissimo

Tra le mura del Qasr illuminato nella sera, incastonato tra i grattacieli di Abu Dhabi, proprio dietro la Corniche, si scopre la storia di questo luogo tra il deserto ed il mare prima che diventasse la città dalle mille luci che è oggi.

Parenthèse dans la ville

Le Qasr AL Hosn est le plus vieux batiment d'Abu Dhabi; le contraste entre le fort et la ville moderne est saisissant. Le bâtiment est très bien entretenu et se situe en plein coeur de la ville.

Un contraste surprenant entre vieille et nouvelle ville

Le contraste du vieux bâtiment (entièrement reconstruit) avec les tours de Abu Dhabi est surprenant. Le musée en lui même, selon moi, n’est pas incontournable mais à partir de 17h il y a des échoppes qui ouvrent dans le parc où l’on peut manger: très sympa !

Un très joli bâtiment au coeur d'Abu Dhabi. L'une des tours marque l'origine de l'émirat. Le reste a été construit assez récemment et le tout forme un bel ensemble surprenant en pleine ville moderne. A ne pas rater!

Y a la salida, frente al palacio, la casa de los artesanos dond disfrutamos de una interesante ceremonia de café estilo árabe. En resumen, un viaje a las raíces del país y su cultura.
