How to Reach Abu Dhabi

To get to Abu Dhabi you have a couple of options-

By Air

Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) serves as the entrance to the city. Is known for its bustling activity. It caters to a range of airlines and destinations. Here's how you can reach Abu Dhabi by air.

  • International Flights - If you're coming from abroad you can easily book a flight to Abu Dhabi International Airport from cities across the globe. The airport is well connected. Operates both international flights.
  • Domestic Flights - For those in the UAE or the Gulf region finding domestic flights to Abu Dhabi is quite convenient. Various airlines offer flights connecting Abu Dhabi with cities, within the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

By Water

Although there aren't any passenger ferry services it's still possible to reach Abu Dhabi by sea through cruise ships and private yachts.

  • Cruise Ships - Many luxury cruise lines include Abu Dhabi as a port of call particularly during the winter season. The equipped Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal welcomes cruise ships allowing passengers to disembark and explore the city's captivating attractions.
  • Privately Owned Yacht - If you own a yacht you have the option to coordinate with the Abu Dhabi Maritime Authority to secure a docking spot at one of the marinas in the city.

By Land

You can reach Abu Dhabi by land from neighbouring cities and other parts of the UAE;

  • From Dubai to Abu Dhabi - The two cities are connected by a maintained highway. It usually takes around 90 minutes to drive between them. Alternatively you can also opt for a bus or ridesharing services.
  • From Al Ain, to Abu Dhabi - If you're travelling from Al Ain it typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours by car using the Abu Dhabi Dubai Highway.
  • Commuting In and Around Abu Dhabi - Getting around Abu Dhabi is quite convenient, due to its developed transportation infrastructure.

  • Taxis are easily accessible and widely used for transportation in Abu Dhabi. You can. Flag down a taxi on the street or book one through mobile apps.
  • The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport operates a network of buses that covers the entire city, including its suburbs. It's a mode of transportation. The buses are equipped with air conditioning.
  • The construction of the Abu Dhabi Metro is currently underway which will further enhance the city's public transportation system once completed.
  • Renting a car is a choice among tourists who prefer flexibility and convenience. Numerous international car rental agencies operate in Abu Dhabi providing options for visitors to explore at their pace.
  • In efforts to promote cycling Abu Dhabi has implemented bike lanes in areas. Short rides can be enjoyed by renting bicycles from locations.
  • Certain parts of Abu Dhabi, along the Corniche are pedestrian friendly making walking a way to discover the city.
