Note: Effective from the May 7, 2007, the visa application needs to be submitted online by login-in at //www.immigration.gov.ng . A printout of the receipt obtained after completing the online application procedure must accompany the visa documents.

With the introduction of new visa regulations by the Nigeria Immigrations Services, a few changes have also been introduced in the visa-processing of the New Delhi Mission. The new guidelines for the issuance of visa are published for general information and compliance in the below mentioned lines.

Applications which are rejected for any reason would be returned back to the Applicant with the reason for denial. If necessary, the visa officer can ask for the physical appearance of an Applicant for personal interview.

The Visa clerk need to collect applications from the Applicant or his/ her representative and shall inform him/ her of the time of delivery of the passport at the Mission and the time for their collection.

The grant of visa is at the discretion of the High Commission. In the case of rejection, the Applicant will not get any refund of the fee.

Tourist Visa

  • The Applicant’s passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application for the visa. Photocopy of the first, second and last pages of the passport should also be submitted along with it.
  • Two duly filled-in visitor visa forms (photocopy is allowed).
  • Two latest passport-size photographs.
  • Confirmed return air ticket (along with a photocopy).
  • A request Letter from the Applicant mentioning the purpose of the visit.
  • A Covering Letter from the Company (only if the applicant is employed).
  • Application forms should be enclosed with invitation letter from Nigeria along with the copy of the Identity proof of the Authorizing Signatory who signs the invitation. The authorizing signatory, if Nigerian has to provide his / her passport copy else if Foreign National, then along with the passport copy he/she is also need to provide his / her Work / Residence Permit copy.
  • Bank statements for the past 3 months.
  • If Applicant is a student, evidence to this end is required. This needs to be accompanied with a Letter of Guarantee from the Educational Institute stating the purpose of visit and recommending the travel (the letter should be signed by a person other than the Applicant).
  • Application should be enclosed with original Yellow Fever Certificate.
  • Evidence of enough funds in the form of foreign exchange (minimum USD 500) supporting on the passport (along with its photocopy).
  • Once issues, Visa remains valid for 90 days and is issued for a maximum stay of 30 days.
  • The Visa Processing time can take up to 4-5 working days.

Family Visit Visa

  • Four STR (Short Temporary Stay) visa forms (photocopy is permitted). Children with age under 16 years need to complete only two forms.
  • Four passport-size photographs.
  • A Request Letter written by the Applicant.
  • A Request Letter from the Relative residing in Nigeria.
  • In case of a wife visiting her husband, a No-Objection Letter addressed to the High Commission [signed by an official (other than the Spouse)] from the Employer in Nigeria is required in original.
  • A copy of the valid Residence Permit of the Spouse in Nigeria is also needed.
  • Children with age above 16 years should indicate whether and what work they will be engaging in after arrival.

Business Visa

  • The Applicant’s passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application for the visa. Photocopy of the first, second and last pages of the passport should also be submitted along with it.
  • The application form should be submitted along with an original Covering Letter from the Indian Company recommending the tour and details of the purpose of trip. The letter should also include a personal request from the Applicant as well.
  • A Letter of Invitation from Associate/s in Nigeria (in original). Identity proof of the Authorizing Signatory who signs the invitation. The authorizing signatory, if Nigerian has to provide his/her passport copy else if Foreign National, then along with the passport copy he/she is also required to provide his/her Work/Residence Permit copy.
  • Documentary proof of correspondence between the two Companies.
  • A copy of Incorporation Certificate of the Nigerian Company should to be faxed directly to the Embassy and another copy should be submitted along with the visa documents.
  • Two duly filled-in visitor visa forms (photocopy is allowed).
  • Two passport-size photographs.
  • Confirmed air ticket or e-ticket with IATA stamp should be attached with the application form.
  • Application should be attached with bank statement for the past 3 months.
  • Application should be submitted with Yellow Fever Certificate (in Original).
  • Evidence of enough funds, in the form of foreign exchange (minimum USD 500) endorsement on the passport (along with its photocopy).
  • After issuance, visa remains valid for 90 days and is issued for a maximum stay of 30 days.

Transit Visa

  • The Applicant’s passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application for the visa. Photocopy of the first, second and last pages of the passport should also be submitted along with it.
  • Two duly filled-in visitor visa forms (photocopy is allowed).
  • Two passport-size photographs.
  • Confirmed return air ticket (along with a photocopy).
  • A Request Letter should be attached with the application form explaining the purpose of the visit.
  • A Covering Letter from the Company (if employed).
  • Applicant’s bank statements for the last 3 months.
  • If Applicant is a student, evidence to this end is needed.
  • If Applicant is a student, evidence to this end is required. This needs to be accompanied with a Letter of Guarantee from the Educational Institute stating the purpose of visit and recommending the travel (the letter should be signed by a person other than the Applicant).
  • Applicant’s Yellow Fever Certificate (in original) should be enclosed with the application form.
  • Evidence of enough funds, in the form of foreign exchange (minimum USD 500) endorsement on the passport (along with its photocopy).
  • Once issued, the visa remains valid for 90 days and is issued for a stay from 2 to 6 days only.
  • The Visa processing time is from 4 to 5 working days.

Seamen Visa

  • The Applicant’s passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application for the visa. Photocopy of the first, second and last pages of the passport should also be submitted along with it
  • Documentary proof of correspondence between the two Companies.
  • A copy of Registration of the Nigerian Company should be faxed directly to the Embassy and another copy is to be submitted along with the visa documents.
  • Two duly filled-in visitor visa forms (photocopy is allowed).
  • Two passport-size photographs.
  • Confirmed return air ticket (along with a photocopy).
  • Confirmed air ticket or e-ticket with IATA stamp.
  • Bank statement for the last 3 months.
  • Income Tax Returns for the past 3 years.
  • A covering Letter from the Indian Shipping Company mentioning the purpose of the visit.
  • Indian Seamen traveling on duty must carry a Letter of Guarantee from the Shipping Company with Seamen book.
  • A Letter from the Shipping Agent in Nigeria need be faxed directly to the Embassy giving the particulars of the Seamen, and the date and port of their joining the Ship.
  • Application form should be attached with Yellow Fever Certificate (in Original).
  • Once issued, Visa in Nigeria remains valid for 90 days and is issued for a maximum stay of 2 days.

Work Permit Visa

  • The Applicant’s passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application for the visa.
  • Four STR (Short Temporary Stay) visa forms (photocopy allowed). On the other hand, children under 16 years need to complete only two forms.
  • Four latest passport-size photographs.
  • A Request Letter from the Applicant should be submitted along with the application form.
  • A Request Letter from the Relative residing in Nigeria should be submitted with the application form.
  • In case of a wife visiting her husband, a No-Objection Letter addressed to the High Commission (signed by an official other than the Spouse) from the Employer in Nigeria is required in original.
  • An approval from Nigeria for Temporary Work Permit (original copy) from the Comptroller General Immigration (C.G.I) should also be attached with the application form.
  • The official letter of Appointment from the Nigerian Company and a formal Request Letter addressed to the High Commission in New Delhi should also be attached with the application form.
  • Copy of the acceptance of the job by the Applicant.
  • Original Quota Approval Letter, issued by the Ministry in Nigeria is an essential document which should be attached with the application form.
  • All Educational Certificates should first be attested by the Ministry of Education and then by the Ministry of External Affairs (in original) in India.
  • Original Work Experience Certificate with the above attestations.
  • All of the above documentations should be submitted in sets of 4 copies each.
  • It should be noted that charges for attestation of Highest Qualification Certificate (in triplicate) is INR 6000.
  • Application should be attached with a copy of the valid Residence Permit of the Spouse in Nigeria.
  • Children more than the age of 16 years must indicate whether and what kind of work they will be doing in post arrival.

Temporary Work Permit Visa

  • The Applicant’s passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application for the visa.
  • Copy of Passport.
  • Two duly filled-in visa forms.
  • Two latest passport-size photographs.
  • A covering letter from the Applicant mentioning the reason of visit.
  • An original cable copy from Nigeria.
  • An original Letter of Invitation from Associate(s) in Nigeria. The identity proof of the Authorizing Signatory who signs the invitation should also be attached. The authorizing signatory, if Nigerian has to provide his / her ID proof copy else if Foreign National, then along with the passport copy he/she is also required to provide his / her Work / Residence Permit copy.
  • Nigerian company certificate in corporation should be attached.
  • Personal Bank Statement for last 3 months of the applicant.
