About Airport: Partially used for public transfers, Kanpur Airport is also known as Chakeri Air Force Station. The airport was initially chosen for the Indian Air Force. In the 1970s, flights operated from this airport regularly to various Indian cities that stopped after sometime. The Civil Air Terminal of Kanpur Airport was re-opened in December 2004 and since then regular flights are flying from this airport. Due to seeing the increasing passenger traffic, AAI is planning to expand the terminal.
