3-hour Canoe Hire over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

Poor timing

We did the afternoon canoe hire, told to arrive 10 minutes early which we did but then the person turned up half an hour late, therefore stood around waiting for 40 minutes, had to call the company ourselves to find out what was going on, would have liked some communication. They did say we could have extra time at the end but this did not work for us as had a tight schedule and couldn't do the extra time due to other commitments. The canoeing itself was fun.

Great trip, excellent staff

We had a lovely self-guided canoe trip along the canal. Relaxed atmosphere and great value. All the TNR staff we spoke to were extremely friendly and helpful, even helping get us to/from where we were supposed to be when we turned up at the wrong place.

Fun paddling afternoon

A fun paddling experience despite the rainy weather. We were given clear safety and etiquette instructions. Nice scenery along the river and views from the aqueduct were really cool!

Amazing experience, many thanks to Grizzly for keeping us all safe. Not a challenging paddle by any means, but what a location!!

Exciting, exhilarating and fabulous

Canoeing over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is something myself and family will remember forever! So much fun, beautiful surroundings and a friendly and helpful staff to meet and greet us. Amazing experience and great value for money

An afternoon to remember!

Wonderful experience for the whole family! It was our first time on the canoe, we picked up the sport whilst at it, and in the process learnt a lot more!

Great experience (especially for those winter thrill seekers)

We went canoeing on a particularly windy and rainy day - great for those thrill seekers who literally enjoy living life on the edge. I reckon during calmer weather it’s a lot calmer and peaceful. However, I organised this for my partners birthday and he really enjoyed this activity. Tom Robinson was confident and looked after us very well. Showed us a great time on the aqueduct and we would definitely recommend!

Aqueduct tour

Awesome experience, the tour guide was amazing she made the experience even better, making it fun with activities and information about the history of the aqueduct. We will be back, and hopefully have the same lady. Thankyou for a great experience. I would definitely recommend this excursion to anybody.

A great day in the sunshine

The experience itself was fantastic, going over the aqueduct and further along the canal, but the support was excellent too. I was ill when the first date came up and they happily re-arranged the day for me. Then on that day there was a storm forecast and again they re-arranged and we ended up with a beautiful Autumn day. Helpful instruction and not too intrusive life vests. Five stars well earned!

Fab to hire and do on your own.

My husband and I decided to do this activity last minute and it was the most fun!! Booking was easy and clear. We hired a canoe and canoed! We met a man at the meeting point and he explained what to do and off we went. Much better than in a guided group, you could go at your own pace and have free reign. The view is beautiful and a great thing ticked off the to do list lol! Some people are not friendly on the water which we thought was weird but the walkers were great. Would recommend this activity and it didn’t take us 3 hours. :)

Awesome Experience

Great views and really relaxing trip.. No need to stress going over the aqueduct, take your time and get plenty of pics, the larger boats will wait for you to cross… TNR were great, the guide arrived there well before us, great explanation and instructions given - Cant recommend enough!

Stunning experience

I have crossed the Pontcysyllte aqueduct on my bike and on foot, but this is another level! With a busy stretch of canal even in September, Tom our guide was super. He was clear and helpful, with some coaching and kayaking tips, easy to talk to and clearly enjoys taking people. Really calm and reassuring, if anyone can get me in and out of a kayak with little fuss, this guy can!! We covered 3 miles in the kayaks, however we were only on the water for 2 hours, there is quite a lot of things to do before launch.

Canoe experience

Thankyou Tom for a great trip . Beautiful scenery . He was informative , chilled and safe . Really good venture for all abilities . If you want to enjoy the canoe experience more sit at the front 😀.

Fabulous trip from start to finish, everything was explained clearly to ensure our safety. Views were amazing over the aqueduct and beyond. Look forward to our next trip.

Kayak hire from a first-rate company.

We booked 3 kayaks for a self guided afternoon canal tour. Everything ran like clockwork. The guys who brought the kayaks to the start point were friendly and very professional. A safety briefing was provided, along with suggestions for where we might go. They helped launch us in at the beginning and helped us back out on our return. The area itself is very picturesque; views from the aqueduct were stunning. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon on the water with the comfort of knowing that we were in safe hands.

Nice

The trip was nice I was happy that we got left to ourselves to explore. The only thing I was really not happy about is that the organiser turned up 5 mins past the start time and when we finished gave an excuse that he had a bad back and couldn’t put the boats away. He stood and watched while women and children struggled as they are not light. I’m pretty sure if it your job the least you could do is turn up before to set up and pack away afterwards? He was also moaning he’s had a long day but it’s his job so just hard to get my head around. This was tnr. We found him quite rude especially when there was an instructor doin it all by himself next to us.

Canoe fun with amazing views!

Fabulous experience. Stunning views. Definitely recommend. We did the trip without the guide as we are experienced at canoeing. Great value for money. Will be doing again at some point.

Would do it again!

Fantastic time in general, with the views, ducks, everything along the canal! Only downside was the instructor being late. On the confirmation email they ask you to arrive 10 minutes before. We arrived 15 minutes before.. instructor arrived 10 minutes late.

We slowly made our way through the quiet canal, and Tom's navigation system made the experience even more extraordinary. It was a good workout.
