The impeccable orchestration and delivery of the Great Maestro Mozart’s music. The opera singers and dancers were a delight as well! It was every bit worth bearing the chilling weather for this concerto! We are from USA California with mostly warm days and some cold nights during winters which dip into the 50 degree temperature status. We loved your beautiful city and above all the culture and significance of which the old world buildings & monuments represent!

Fabulous evening listening to Strauss and Mozart.

When visiting Vienna, finding time to enjoy the music of Strauss and Mozart is a must. My family had a wonderful time in the presence of masterful performers at this concert. Full of life, the players clearly enjoyed playing together, involving the audience and bringing the music to life. Set in one of the grander of Vienna’s great buildings, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this tour.

Enjoyable but serious flaws.

Accomplished musicians in a very íntimate and lavish setting. However, the venue was changed and I was not notified. Refreshments were very limited and the advert is misleading. Pictures show at least 12 orchestra members and there were five. There was no little difference between the top price seats and cheapest as there were only five or six rows!

Disappointed, concert cancelled 10 minutes before start.

This gets a 1 star rating because at 8.20pm, 10 minutes before the consert was due to start, an announcement was made that the concert was cancelled. We are currently arranging to get a refund. Still sound s like a good concert, but we will nevr know.

Enjoyable Evening

The critics need to chill. For what is, a good introduction to Vienna, music, opera, and dance, it was very, very good. The musicians and performers were talented and did not phone it in. Full disclosure, I was a Viking ship person but I didn't think we got special treatment to the detriment of others.

Just a perfect evening whilst visiting Vienna

Seriously?

well, we wanted to see something during our few days here in Vienna Could not get tickets for Barber of Seville. So, we went down the list of concerts we could into and got tickets for Vienna Residence Orchestra. Got tickets for the 6:30 pm show. It started at 6:35 pm. At 7:10 was an intermission and started again around 7:25 and at 7:52 it was over. it said on the website that there is a 10 minute intermission but they say it is 15 minutes and no one told us we could have a free drink. (I read that on another trip advisor's comment.) 1. the show is not 1.5 hours long 2. several musicians were phoning it in-- I don't want to call them out but they know who they are 3. one of the musicians did not know their place and had to ask the other person what music was being played next. and made faces like where are we? then switched places with the other person who evidently knew the music enough that they did not need to see their music on their stand. unprofessional. 4. ballet moves were so basic that is was embarrassing 5. one of the musicians had an old dirty handkerchief going all over the place 6. seats were awful. so close that you could not be comfortable 7. they call it a palace. really? 8. no program given out. why? you could buy one for 5 euros but why? 9. the people were totally preoccupied with other things like how much longer do they have to be there?

You must experience

Dont miss out on this amazing performance. I had alot of fun. It totally worth the money and the timing of the show is perfect

Last second cancelation without any notice

We arrived 15 minutes before the concert, and at the door they told us the concert was canceled. We were not informed by email or on the application… they offered us a concert on the next day, but we were already leaving Vienna. The only alternative was a concert elsewhere, where we had to take a taxi to make it on time ( and reimbursed upon presenting a receipt later), but in the new venue there were no places left and we had to stay standing. I paid 2 tickets for me and my 70 year old mother, category B, and we finished standing for the whole concert. Please avoid this reservation and go with a more solid one. I ask for a full refund, or I will legally pursue. I paid to be seated on one place, not to be standing in a completely poorer theatre.

Viennese Chamber Music at its best

For our final night in Vienna we went to this concert. The orchestra, the opera singers, and the dance in this session of chamber music was performed by the Resident Viennese Orchestra ( 10 members approx) and left us standing on our feet calling for more!

Great nights entertainment. Very enjoyable and so lovely to experience the concert in the beautiful city of Vienna.

Better options elsewhere

Bought my ticket from a seller by Hofburg. Choice of three prices 45, 55 or 65 Euro. In the hall the first four rows are the "VIPs", next four are the 55 Euro and the sides are 45 Euro. The hall is small and the seats are so close to each other that there is hardly room to sit down. The concert was supposed to be 1 hour 30 mins but it started late, there was a break for free drinks and the total time played was 1hr 10 minutes. 7 players, two dancers and two soloists. They had just performed the same concert immediately before the one that I attended as we had to wait whilst the first audience left. The performance was "tired". The usual hackneyed pieces. Was it worth the money - not really. There are better options elsewhere in Vienna. The brochure says "Enjoy an unforgetable evening in Vienna's most beautiful palaces" "One of the best orchastras of the Viennese music scene" Don't believe a word....

A Viennese experience not to be missed.

Your information needs updating. We travelled across the city arriving at 1.00 to exchange your documents for tickets and found everything locked up. We presented them at the ticket desk and they were accepted, no problem. Apparently the ticket desk only opens 2 hours before the show. The show was superb. We thoroughly enjoyed it

Vienna sounds

Nice concert but we had problems to receive tickets and even the location was not explicated. We got a confirm only going to the palace the day before.

The performance was Very entertaining and the music was exceptional. The venue was beautiful. The performers were very skilled.

Very limited concert. Viking attendees paid 129 euros. You can get a ticket for 45 euros on the street.

This is a 6 piece orchestra with a couple of ballet and opera songs. Via a Viking tour it will cost you $150. You can get a ticket for 45 /65 euros on the street. We got the 65 euro ticket, which was a mistake. There are only about 15-20 rows. Via Viking Cruise it is a giant rip off.

Absolutely incredible talent that is on the stage. Unmissable and unforgettable, the highlight of ohlur trip to Vienna.

Geriatric Disney Experience

I love classical music, and I'm a big Mozart fan. But this program was pop-classical to the point I felt sorry for the talented performers. Absolute tourist experience. 65 Euro VIP ticket with no program included and virtually no seating difference Left at intermission after a silly polka. Beautiful venue. What a shame Not worth the Uber ride except for the transit view of this beautiful city, and the driver's choice of Beatles music on the way back to the hotel. Do yourself a favor and book a chamber music experience at the Mozart Haus instead. What a complete disappointment!

Great Concert

There could have been more musicians on stage. Yet, the whole concert was very enjoyable and entertaining. Also, they should transfer the piano on stage so that everyone can see the pianist who was great!

Good performance , but more space between seats or use of masks (covid-19)

The orchestra , the dancers and the tenors were professional and well prepared The theater that took place was in a historical place but the audience place was not well arranged.

A wonderful evening of musical fun and high quality singing. The only trouble was booking and getting the voucher to the ticket which worried us needlessly please review the wording of the voucher email

Poor enough night

This was a somewhat disappointing night, if it wasn’t for the genuine talent of the musicians I would give it 2 stars. We read the reviews and saw it wasn’t going to be mind blowingly good, but we thought it would just give us a “taste” into opera in Vienna. It definitely doesn’t do even that so if you were like us and wanted to go cheap and cheerful but get a good ish experience, probably best to spend the extra €20-30 and go to something else. To clarify, it isn’t an orchestra. It’s an ensemble at most; 3 violins, a flautist, double bass and cello. I must say each were absolutely talented, that was clear but there was a robotic feel to it as if they do this day in day out. But it was enjoyable, my boyfriend wouldn’t be into classical music and I’m a musician myself so wanted something that would suit us both. They play all the well known classical “hits” which is good in that sense. However the dancers are appalling, so out of sync and SUCH a gimmick. Has an infuriatingly cheap feel to the night because of them, they made some of the dances comical by slapping each other and messing on stage which was felt so inappropriate for an operatic night. However there are LOADS of tourist groups so the American bus loads lapped it up. These groups continuously talked during the performance though and we got the impression this is one of those gigs that cater to groups a lot, so that seems to be the norm. Definitely not a feel of people wanting to come for beautiful music, it was more entertainment and chat and a touristy show. Music itself as I said was grand, great musicians but not at all what we were hoping for even with our low expectations.

Am I the only one who thought they were playing along to a recording?

I don't think such a small "orchestra" could play all the parts. I play the flute and recognize piccolo parts. There was no piccolo. Also, there was no conductor. How do they keep time? We were part of an Insight Vacations bus tour. The room was beautiful and the intermission on the patio was wonderful. Chairs were not comfortable. I'm sure you can do better in VIenna.

I went to several others including the one at the Schonborn palace which was great. NYer here and I would say that I know a little about concerts !

Fabulous Evening

A fabulous evening enjoying very talented musicians, a fantastic opera singer and beautiful dancers. The show was very entertaining and you felt involved which was brilliant. A 10/10 from us - Thank You

Not recommended!

Very crowded, and the hall is very small, I couldn’t see anything despite the fact that I had an A class ticket, but we were seated at the back of the room!

A good ecperience

A very pleasurable evening spent with Mozart & Straus at The Vienna Residence Orchestra. a decent enough seat, not the most comfy but bearable for 1.5 hours with intermission in the middle. Beautiful music, ballet and singing. a very nice experience. Thank you.

Enjoyable evening

Music of the highest rating . Musicians obviously of excellent ability. Choice of pieces good. Arias less known. Dancers of high standard and excellently danced and choreographed.

Enjoyable and good value

An excellent evening. Musicians dancers and singers very good. Had good view even at back of hall. Relaxed and casual dress for audience. Could have had clearer sign posting and arrangements for collecting tickets.

Enjoyable for the price paid

Apologies, but first the downside. We arrived early as advised but still had to queue about 30 mins for the cloakroom (which was mandatory). Only €1 an item but the organization seemed chaotic. My wife left me to get some seats in the VIP section which brings me to my second point. The hall is small, I didn't mind that in so much as everyone was close to the performers which was nice but I was left wondering what the real value of a VIP ticket was (apart from extra revenue for the organizers of course). The concert itself was enjoyable and I didn't notice the time passing which is always a good sign. I am not a musician or classical music lover but from my point of view the singers and musicians were excellent. The fight for the bar at the interval was unexpected but to be fair, that isn't the organizers fault. The hall and building were beautiful and I appreciated the surroundings as much as the music. One final point was, as much as I enjoyed watching the dancing, the stage is too small and it felt like they didn't have the space they should. Overall, for what it was, I thought it enjoyable and worth the money.

Enjoyable Performance but Uncomfortably Warm in the Hall

Overall this was a nice evening excursion from our cruise ship. On our first visit to Vienna, we were able to enjoy the cultural experience of a Mozart and Strauss concert that also included some ballet and opera performers. The notable shortcoming was that the concert hall was completely filled so the temperature was uncomfortably warm during the performance. At least our guide advised us to leave our coats on the bus and avoid the hassle of using the crowded coat-check. That made arrival and departure of our group much easier since our bus came very close to the entrance.

The concert was good, but we missed almost half an hour....

The reason for arriving late was that the concert had been moved to another place that Nobody knew of at the place mentioned at the tickets. My daughter phoned somebody while time was running. Remember, we are Danish, and it was our first time in Vienna. We had to deal with telephone calls and metrolines unknown to us. When we finally found the place the “kind” man at the right theatre said: “The concert has already started. I cannot let you in”. But at that time we were almost some 30 persons waiting to get in screaming: “We do not care, Let us in”, and he finale did. I have a P.S.: The next morning in Vienna a salesman of tickets to the same concert asked me whether I wanted to go at a concert? I answered No and told him of my experience the day before, to which he just replied: “You should have bought your tickets from me.They are cheaper, and I know where the concert is going to take place.

Mediocre concert! Just for tourists groups !

Don’t go for a concert there! You can find better at 55€+ They have no respect for classical music,just for money from tourists! The place is great for visit!

Concert Wednesday evening 20.15hrs performance

I do not think that 3 violinists ,1cello player ,1 double bass player , a flautist and a pianist constitutes an orchestra.The programme only consisted of two thirty minute sessions and we felt rather let down by the musicians not introducing each piece ,especially as we were a multi cultural audience.Having attended a similar venue at another location, we were anticipating another very enjoyable evening however we left rather disappointed.

Classical music at its finest

The Mozart and Strauss concert was one of the shore excursions from our Viking ship. The Vienna Residence Orchestra was established to play pieces from Mozart and Strauss. The orchestra’s concertmaster is one of the world’s best violinists. We are not classical music lovers, however, besides the music there is dancing and comedy. They also interact with the audience. We did enjoy the show.

Amazing evening! Better than expected!

Had an amazing evening here on my birthday. The orchestra was really talented. No missed notes. Timing was excellent. And oh so very entertaining! There was everything. Beautiful music, dancing and singing! I cried, laughed, clapped and we gave 3 standing ovations! Really a must attend!

Wonderfully entertaining!

When you enter the chandeliered chamber, you hope you're in for an intimate treat and we were not disappointed! We had front row seats, close enough to touch the pianist and feel the passing of entertainers moving on and off the stage. The music was beautifully presented and just delightful, and the period costuming helped take you back in time. We also enjoyed the opera singers and ballet dancers performing both serious and comic pieces. What a multi-talented troupe and fabulous evening!

Really disappointing

Having read many trip advisor reviews before we booked we were not expecting opera house standard music. However even forewarned we all thought the music, dancing and singing were poor and the whole evening really bad value for money at €45 each. The whole thing felt somewhat charmless with the musicians belting out the music to a timetable. The superior and A class tickets are a rip off - if you do go, buy B class they are no different except for a small glass of fizzy wine. As for having to drop your coat off (for “security reasons”) at the cloakroom for a €1 charge, we all ignored this on the basis that we were cold and were going to keep our coats on.

Just one very fabulous evening's entertainment.

When you think, ok, a Mozart and Strauss Concert, you're probably expecting a pleasant 'little night music'. Well, with the VRO (Vienna Residence Orchestra), you get that for sure, but so much more. To say the VRO is multitalented is to minimize their repertoire. We did not expect to laugh as much as we did. The orchestra is talented not only musically (playing instruments), but in song as well (beautiful voices). And their comedic talent is outside the ballpark (ok, not the best analogy, but you get the picture). You really need to make this a 'must do/see' in Vienna; you will thank yourself repeatedly.
