Great option for a day trip to Budapest

This trip is a great option if one wants to visit Budapest quickly from Vienna. It is a 2.5 hrs drive from Vienna each way, and Budapest has reasonable traffic, so there is enough time to see all the main landmarks that this great city has to offer. Renee was our driver and we were very happy with him. He speaks fluent English, he is an efficient but careful driver, and he knows a lot about the places we visited, which enabled us to pass on a guide which streamlined our visit (of course, a guide is included for whoever wants one). All in all, I would recommend this company and Renee for any private trip in Central Europe.

Vienna to Budapest Private Tour

Excellent private tour of Budapest, Hungary from Vienna, Austria! The driver was a great driver and we always felt safe. The car was comfortable and clean. The driver first brought us to a big public market in Budapest, and then to a wonderful local restaurant for lunch. After lunch the driver picked up a Budapest local tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain the history all of the sites we visited. She was very well prepared, and a pleasure to listen to. My wife and I both had an absolutely wonderful day with great memories and tons of pictures!

Very poor tour guide ... basically just a $850.00 roundtrip car ride from Vienna

Tour guide was grossly unqualified. ... continually apologizing for her lack of experience and limited knowledge. She only spoke when asked a question and then only short answers with no additional interesting commentary ... probably could have acquired same info simply by looking up questions on google. At several stops, her only comment was "This is the ....." No commentary about why it was important or its historical significance. We openly encouraged her to be more active and informative ... her response "Sorry, I am not very experienced." The driver was a little better, however, his English was limited. Finally, the car was a subcompact which was not comfortable on the long commute from Vienna, especially on bumpy roads. I was traveling with a friend who visited Budapest for a few days in the past. My friend basically became my tour guide, communicating a lot more pertinent information that she recalled from her past visit than the tour guide.

The driver and the tour...

The driver and the tour guide was great , but the car provided was too small , it was a BMW X1 model , at the beginning on the way to Budapest was fine for three of us , but when we got there , the tour guide had to get in and all three of us was crammed at back seats 、 lucky we r not overweight people , just imagine!!!! And we pay over $700 euro for that !!! It was not worth it ,And also the website said the tour will be about 12 hours but it ended in less than 10 hrs

Waste of time and money!

Driver Marko messaged in the morning that he will be late. And when he arrived, there was a need to stop at a petrol station to clean windows. Didn’t say that with all the delay it was going to affect our your timing in Budapest. We were just 3 people and paid extra to have better comfort of a van, but the van was such an uncomfortable one. It was not up to standard for the price paid. On our way, we asked the driver about Budapest and some point of interest and he said he didn’t know - he was merely a driver. When we arrived we commenced with a super brief tour with a tour guide and we didn’t stop at all those beautiful buildings you see in the photos. Tour with a guide was just for 2.5 hours. As soon as we finished the driver dropped us at a parking lot and told us we were free to walk around for 2 hours and then it will be time to return. No guide for this free and easy. He told us to meet him at the parking lot at 4.30 but he was not there and had to be called to come. Overall our tour commenced at 12 noon and returned at 4.30pm. And we had to bear roaming calls for calling the driver when he was not at the parking lot and for his messages to us when he was late. I do not recommend this tour company. It is a dodgy company and not worth it. I recommend for anyone to take the train, explore on your own and stay the night.

Quick trip

Our drive kept in contact about his arrival and did an amazing job getting us to our destination. I would recommend eating before departing and taking snacks. We went straight from Vienna to sight seeing in Budapest with only a bathroom break. We did get free time around 2:30pm and ate a late lunch before leaving Budapest for Vienna around 5pm. Our tour guide was very passionate about the city and had a lot of information. We did stop in three locations for pictures but you can’t see it all in one day.

Our driver was extremely nice. Our guide in Budapest was terrible and very pushy. We were not allowed to do anything we wanted to. She got us lost and spent hours in traffic because she had no clue where she was going. She rushed us because she wanted to get home. Extremely rude and not worth the money at all

when I booked this tour I...

when I booked this tour I emphazise that we´ll be a party of eight. The travel agency send a car for three passengers. After 1 1/2 hour waiting at the lobby, the tour operator arrive with a car fopr seven passenger despite we are a party of 8 for a tour from Viena to Budapest that have a roundtrip of six hours. When I request a bigger car, the travel company request me to ay the double neverthelles I request a tour for 8 persons and not for three. Once again Viator never fulfill their compromise. They just want to collect the money, after that they don´t care nothing about customers and service. Viator the worst travel company I ever see.

Great place to spend a day!

Great tour in late December 2019. While it was a chilly, rainy day this did not stop us from seeing all the highlights! Just enough history and our guide made the tour light hearted. Very interesting seeing the 2 sides of the river.

Great for so little time

You should stay at least two days in Budapest. Ideally more but this is a good option if you have little time. Gabriel(guide) took us to the highlights of the city at our own pace, yet he timed the agenda perfectly. You visit the ideal amount of time each spot. Gabriel would take us in and out of the main attractions while explaining what was interesting, the history behind this city (WOW!), and unknown trivia about whatever we were visiting. It was awesome because it was a tour for us two personally. We had Gabriel's attention 100% on us. We are quite thankful for Gabriel's time showing us around beautiful Budapest. Obviously we want to thank Peter, the best chauffeur (driver) one could ask for. Peter was exactly on-time to pick us up at our hotel, and he drove perfectly the entire trip back and forth. Car was spotlessly clean and in perfect mechanical condition. Quite thankful for Peter's professionalism.

Not Vienna

Our driver, Peter, was very nice and prompt. The guide in Budapest was pleasant and new the city history well. Both spoke very good English. The city itself is a disappointment. Only a few interesting buildings to see and many that are in disrepair. Certainly not the beautiful, clean, well maintained city that the Boucher shows. In retrospect, we should have skipped this long day and expense and saw more places in Vienna instead. James and James, Texas

Sadly disappointing

We have booked many trips with Viator and loved the experience. Our day trip to Budapest was a great car trip with a wonderful driver, Peter. However, the walking tour guide had been hired by the original tour guide and was inexperienced plus was only fair in his English. He was a very nice person just not what we expected as this was our most expensive tour of the 5 we booked. Very disappointing.

AMAZING! If you have a limited time...

<p>AMAZING! If you have a limited time in any city Viator is the way to go! I had one day to see Budapest and Peter driver and Kitty tour guide were nothing short of amazing! Peter dropped us in the best locations and then Kitty and I covered the streets via walking and made it to the top of one of the churches for the best 360 view of the city. What an amazing day that I won't forget soon, this is totally the way to travel if you are looking for a great day trip, Peter and Kitty will make you feel like family and make sure you see all the city has to offer!</p>
