Nice tour that would have been nicer

We loved the tour, however the allocated time to visit the old Town in Melk was very short and we wanted to explore more. The guide "I cannt recall her name" had no good interactions with the tourists and whenever we stop at a place she keeps to herself, we felt she is just doing her job and not passionate about it. The Danube river boat ride was amazing but think it should be limited to one hour or 45 minutes instead of 1.5 hours, this would have given more time at the other stops.

Only real stop was Melk

Nice itinerary but not planned for anything but bathroom stops anywhere but Melk. Zero time allowed in Split or Krem. If consolidated we could have had even 20 minutes to see one of them. Left us waiting for ship (which was on time) for 25 min yea with no seats.

Boring and badly managed

This tour was really boring. The cruise is really slow and took 2 hours with the view not changing. The food onboard was crappy. Also, the tour guide didn’t manage the time well so we couldn’t get lunch. He recommended a tavern to grab a quiet bite to go. We were so rushed and I had severe stomach issues after eating the food at his recommended restaurant. Dont waste your time on this tour.

Because the water level...

Because the water level of Dunabe was too high to have a cruise, they replaced this activity with visiting a small village, which was understandable. But they canceled the visit of Durnstein which was originally included in the tour, and told us the cancellation until the bus closely approached to the town. Very disappointed.

Amazing tour to the Danube valley with great views and history

Tour is amazing with some breathtaking views of Melk and nice stop at durnstein. But it had few negatives 1. Time in durnstein is too less to even sit and enjoy a coffee at a good cafe. 2. Guide speaks everything in both English nd Spanish which just breaks the flow of stories and anecdotes. They should have separate tours for English and Spanish like most other tours are.

Tour guide was very good, Melk Abbey was very impressive and local guide very informative and interesting

Vienna Austria 3rd Honeymoon

The provider ancelled at last minute . Got an email at 649 am that said it was cancelled. No reason no alternative. We went around Vienna city on the bus and tram and it crowded. A refund was supposed to be processed but it has been over 48 hrs and no refund.

Danube tour and Melk

The guide was not very informative and helpful. Melk Town and Monastery was the highlight of the tour. I wish we had more time there. Monastery guide was excellent.

Cancelled because of high water in Danube

Tour was cancelled the day before, and refunded, because of high water in Danube. We had to substitute a train ride to/from Melk as we couldn't wait for the next available date. Disappointed.

Stress-free sights

Even without the boat tour due to flooding, we had a great time! Our family got to see a lot of Austria outside the city that we didn't even know about, got great photos, and all without the logistical stress of planning a day trip.

Great experience

I would highly recommend this tour. It is a way to experience the Danube and Melk while having an organized tour. The stop in Durnstein was quick but nice. The boat ride was enjoyable, and I enjoyed the option for dining and having inside seating that provided nice views. The stop in Melk was the right length of time, and the tour of the Abbey was well done.

Down the Danube

This was a very nice tour. Our tour guide Ava and driver Arthur were excellent. Durstein was a quaint town on the Danube, the drive was very scenic as we followed the Danube. The only con was the ferry boat to Melk was late and very slow which affected our time in Melk. We were only able to tour the abbey did not have time to see the town or gardens.

Disappointing tour

The tour was spoiled by being bilingual, spanish and english. This meant there was no flow or continuity to the stories. In the end, we just switched off. The morning started poorly when the tour guide did not even introduce himself, only to spanish talking people which there were more of. He mumbled something then starting walking off leaving us and a few others wondering who is he and are we supposed to follow him? Your girl in the yellow coloured jacket was helpful and directed us to the bus.

A lovely day outside of the Capital city

We had a really nice day today. We took a 9 hour tour into the country side and saw the towns of Durnstein, Spitz and Melk and the massive Melk Abbey. Photos aren’t allowed inside the Abbey, but we saw some of their ancient relics, and 2 of the nine libraries that hold about 120,000 books. The Abbey church is huge and very impressive. We also took a cruise along the Danube and saw vineyards and castles, and lovely little towns. It was relaxing and absolutely beautiful. Getting outside of Vienna was well worth the trip.

Perfect day trip to experience the Austrian countryside!

This trip was fantastic! Our guide, Sylvia spoke 4 languages fluently 😳 she pointed out landmarks and points of interest along the way. The boat ride was perfect! Relaxing and good food. The highlight was Melk. Cute town for shopping. The tour of the Abbey was amazing if you love historical sites. Perfect amount of time at each location. Strongly recommend for the price and a day trip to see the countryside.

Enjoyable day and tour.

Enjoyable day and tour! It was not a WOW but very pleasant day. Our guide spoke in English and Spanish and was very knowledgeable about various sites along the way. First stop was Durnstein, a lovely ancient village, with a beautiful church but we wish we had at least 30 minutes longer here. Next stop was the very enjoyable river boat ride to the Melk Abbey. Touring the abbey was a disappointment as the “tour” was primarily an exhibition of various artifacts of the abbey and did not include any guided information about the church. Lunch in the restaurant was delicious and quick. Wear comfortable walking shoes!

Beautiful day on the Danube

The day was beautiful. Our guide was informative and provided great information. The monastery was also a beautiful tour. The day was well priced, considering the boat ride, transportation, and monastery fees. All walking was on flat surfaces. Really worth the fee.

Bad guide

The guide, Claudia, did not provide much guidance . She basically shuffled us from one destination to the next, and disappeared when we reached the destination. We were left on our own to explore. What is the point of a guide then? She was unfriendly and a bit rude just insisting that we at the bus on time. Not a good experience.

The tour guide makes all the difference

Weather needs to be considered due to being on the water but with appropriate clothing the ride on the boat is very nice. We had an excellent tour guide that was extremely informative and helpful. He spoke in both English and Spanish so everyone stayed informed. He had the trip as good as it was

A Good Tour to Melk Abbey

We had a lovely bus trip for the first part of the trip. Stopped in one small village. Then drove a bit further and transferred to the boat for the boat cruise part of the day. It was a bit under whelming as the scenery was very repetitive and the river is definitely not blue. When we arrived at Melk Abbey we were scheduled for lunch in the restaurant. I can honestly say that the Benedictine walnut cake was the best dessert I had in 5 weeks of travelling. Highly recommend it. The tour of the Abbey was informative and ok, but no photos allowed inside. Bus trip back was ok. Unfortunately for me I fell on the footpath at the meeting point just before the tour started (not the tour company's fault) and so had to limp through the day with a sore foot. Charles our guide gave a great commentary.

Great day in the Danube Valley.

Beautiful sights on the Danube cruise, excellent tour of Melk Abbey, a wonderful experience! Tour director was extremely knowledgeable and made the trip an unforgettable experience.

A worthwhile day!

The monastery is magnificent in its history and antiques. The bus guide provided excellent information about Austria as we travelled along.

Somehow not satisfactory. One ful day for a small village in Wahae and a Monestry....

It is a petty we visited only one small village and instead we visited the Monstry in Melk. I e,pected.ore small villages and wine tasting

Lovely day in the country

It was great to be on the Danube and see the mountains and castles. Martin was a very good guide. Loved the little town and the gardens at Melk . Overwhelmed by the church at the Melk Abbey

Fabulous Danube Valley tours

Fabulous outing. Loved the boat cruise ion the Danube. Stunning gardens and tour of Melk Abbey with very informative guide. The whole day was most enjoyable with exceptional guides and bus driver.

Danube Delights!

A delightful day trip from Vienna. The tour was well organised, and the guide spoke in two languages—English and Spanish—simultaneously throughout the tour. The boat trip took just over an hour from Dürnstein to Melk. There are options to have lunch on the boat or in the town of Melk. The guided tour of Melk Abbey was okay, although I felt it was too brief. Overall, my tour experience was positive, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to spend a day outside Vienna.

Great way to visit and enjoy the Danube Valley and Melk Abbey with Danube boat ride.

A wonderful experience. Excellent guide, Comfortable bus ride, outstanding sightseeing from outside deck of boat ride from Split to Melk. There was suffient time to enjoy both Durstein and an the village of Melk. The Melk Abbey tour was excellent and informative. I highly recommend this tour.

Nice exposure to Austria outside of Vienna

Relaxing day. Bus part was comfortable. On boat for about 1 hours and 20 minutes. After reading other reviews, we found a table and enjoyed lunch while we watched the scenery. With free time at the Abbey, we were able to walk into town briefly and visit the gardens.

Good Tour

The guide was knowledgable, interesting and easy to understand. We enjoyed the Danube River cruise, Durstein and the Abbey.

Fantastic experience

Eva and Gary were both great. Had a lovely experience and a very smoothly conducted trip. If you are looking to explore wachau valley I would definitely recommend this trip, the boat ride from Spitz to melk was the highlight of the trip for me.

Outstanding experience at Melk Abbey and the Danube Valley.

We very much enjoyed the experience. The bus was plush and the tour guide was outstanding. He was so interesting and informative and imparted so much information throughout the day. Melk Abbey was magnificent. We were somewhat disappointed that the shops in the towns closed at Noon or never opened but that’s the way things are in Austria. I highly recommend this trip.

Visit medieval town in addition to the phenomenal Melk Abbey

The bus trip first to the quaint towns of Krem and Durnstein are wonderful. Our linguistic tour guide was able to explain the history of what we would see in several languages. We had adequate free time to stroll the medieval stone streets to shop and take lovely pictures. We travelled along the beautiful Danube River passing vineyards and beautiful countryside. Arriving at Melk and the Abbey was breathtaking. The restaurant on the premises is wonderful and offers true Austrian food that satisfies. The preserved Abbey and treasures are incredible. The final visit to the church is unbelievable. I have not seen an altar as decorated in gold and grandiosity as this. The view from the terrace over the town and river at sunset was a spectacular ending to a wonderful day.

Really great day seeing the countryside of Austria

Great guide and driver... Saw so many beautiful villages and towns drove through The Valley. Got to see the Melk monastery just a wonderful trip all the way around.. Would highly suggest

Good tour, less so for the winter.

The tour is good but suffers in the winter. The wording on the website makes it sound like you get lunch included in place of the boat trip, but you don’t. Some of Melk Abbey is also closed in the winter. Charging the same in the winter for a lesser product is frustrating despite everything else being enjoyable.

Lovely day visiting Melk, Krems & Wachau valley

Enjoyed the tour but felt our guide lacked enthusiasm. Have done a few tours whilst in Europe and our tour guides have kept us amused along with historical side.

Last minute trip to Wachau

Last minute booking that didn't disappoint. Wachau Region is beautiful. Visited 3 towns in the area all very different. Plenty of time in each place to see everything.

Do not miss out, it's worth it.

Loved exploring Danube Valley and walking through the streets of historical towns. Never seen anything like Melk Abby. Our guide was very knowledgable and fluent in English and German.

Melk Abbey is a must visit!

The visit to the Melk Abbey was awesome! Truly one of Austria's most precious gems. The church in all its Baroque splendor was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Situated in the Danube Valley, the view was breathtaking!

Good Tour

This was a good tour. Our tour leader was knowledgeable and friendly, and spoke excellent English. I would have preferred a different type of boat -- this was exclusively a restaurant, which limited the seating near the windows. It was nice to have a snack and hot drink, but I was wishing I could sit closer to the side of the boat. This is a small complaint though -- the whole excursion was very nice.

Disappointing Day Trip

The trip was not as expected because of water levels. We felt that this info should have been given to us in order to decide if we wanted to proceed with day trip. The guide was not well informed and often gave wrong information about meeting places and tour details. We would not recommend this guide or this day trip. Way to much time on a bus !! We could have rented a car and driven to Melk for far less money and far less disappointment. We took 7 Viator on our 2 week trip and this one was such a disappointment. This day trip was far too expensive for the experIence. Very disappointing !!

Beautiful and scenic. An absolute pleasure!

Wachau valley was beautiful, scenic and almost from a fairytale. The guide was wonderful and very helpful. Melk town and the Benedict Abbey is not be missed. Very highly recommended!

Great intro to the Wachau region

The whole trip was very enjoyable. Very well organised, excellent guide and a great mix of activities. A comfortable coach, scenic cruise on a stylish boat, great choice of restaurant for lunch before tackling the immense Melk Abbey. Great day out and back by six.

Great day trip from Vienna for a countryside experience

We only had a few days in Vienna. We selected this tour so that we could see some of the Austrian countryside - not just the city. We were not disappointed. The scenery was beautiful. The river cruise was very relaxing. Our tour guide was very nice. The tour of the abbey was a little brief. At the end, the guide said that we could go back and revisit any of the rooms that we wanted to explore further. I wish that she would have mentioned that at the beginning.

Nice tour of Austrian countryside

Was a good overall bus tour. Easy check in at meeting point. Was a large bus and ours was nearly full. First stop at a small town which was classic Austrian and they happened to have a traditional band playing in the town square for some type of local celebration; that was pretty cool. Next we boarded a boat for about an hour cruise on the Danube to get near Melk. The cruise itself was very nice and you could sit inside with full food and beverage service or on the outside upper deck. Along the cruise there were a few old castle remains to view and hilly countryside. Very relaxing cruise. Finally, we got back on the bus for the short ride to Melk Abbey. Had opportunity for lunch before heading in and nice local restaurant, reasonably priced, was just outside the entrance. After lunch we received a guided tour of the Abbey, which was quite informative. Beautiful Abbey building with interesting history. Afterwards the long ride back to Vienna. From start to finish was right at 9 hours. Overall very nice tour and worth the money.

Trip to Melk Abbey by the boat

Amazing experience, recommend to everyone who has a free whole day in Vienna, as it takes up to 8-9 hours: including bus trip to Mid-ages old town and Danube cruise for 1-2 hours with audio guide. Melk Abbey is a jewel of this trip. Breathtaking views, cute gardens and guest houses. Church and library, architecture and interior design are also beautiful 🤩 and rich. It worth your time, as you learn the history and culture of Austria.

Very nice way to see small Austrian towns and Melk Abby.

Very well organized - started at 9, stopped at dunnstein, got on a boat, cruised to Melk, got a tour of the Abby after about 1.5 hours of free time to check out the town and garden. The burata salad on the boat was surprising good even if the service was very slow. Apricot ice cream in Melk was yummy. We got back just before 6. They delivered what they promised and it was a good experience. Thank you team!

Awe-inspiring Abbeys

Both the Abbey at Duerrnstein and the Melk Abbey are extraordinary. It would have been nice to have a little more time in Duerrnstein. It is such a quaint little town.
