Concert at Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral

An epic performance of one of my favourite classical pieces!

Amazing performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Stunning venue and talented musicians. One of my favourite pieces of classical music and it didn’t disappoint! Spend an extra few $$$ for the better seats if you can and get to watch the detail. Would definitely go again!

Great Performance - Bad Venue

I would have given this a 5-star rating if it weren't for the venue. The High School students did a phenomenal job playing the classical songs. However, the venue was very unorganized for entering the church and the placement of the students performing was not optimal. They had the performance on the front right-hand side of the church, which made it difficult for 90% of the audience to hear and view. We thought the performance would have been in the center of the church, but apparently not.

Caged like cattle for a school recital

It's the busiest Church and arriving early, as suggested, by 40 minutes didn't really help. Lots of pushing and shoving and waves of people trying to get poll position. When you get in to church, you will be fenced off and not allowed to walk to your seating (which, by the way isn't numbered. It's banded in to categories A and B) Imagine... a few hundred people caged at the back of the church until you're allowed through the gates they've put up. We were squashed and pressing up against each other, holding on to the gate bars, akin to a prison stay. Finally seated after a competitive stampede to the front...chaotically, selfishly, unromantically and stressfully. Hopefully, when the quartet begins, the cortisol levels will begin to dissipate. Something different starts to happen that I haven't seen in any other recital I've attended. A band of smartly dressed young youths with brass instruments are filling the front pews. Wow, I'm thinking. A quartet with a surrounding orchestra. This is going to be special. They all look so young... I looked down at the paper subconsciously given to me before the charge to Category A, to read which pieces are being played by the fabulous foursome. And there it was. Top title "High School Orchestra". No professional quartet, like the other churches and no forewarning from TripAdvisor. The children played and presented well. Front rows seemed to be reserved for their proud parents. Sadly, not even close to the professional quartets we'd listened to in the days prior. We left after 3 pieces as we felt, from arrival until departure, the evening was a misleading shamble. I don't know if this a one off but it was a stressful, disappointing evening and 100% waste of money. Best recital, for us anyway, was St.Peter's. Less people, beautiful church, entertaining professional quartet.

Great concert mix of Christmas and classical music at St Stephan's Cathedral. Good seating, great musicians and singers.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

Really it is not what I expected. Overpriced for what I got. For the price of my ticket I can go to the NY philharmonic at Lincoln Center The camera orchestra it is sell as a big one. And it’s not. Only the second part of the performance save the night

Watch out buying your tickets through VIATOR

We bought our tickets to the concert in St Stephen Cathedral a few weeks prior to our arrival to Vienna through Viator. On the night before the concert we got an email from Viator that our tickets are cancelled. We first thought that the concert is cancelled so we asked the concierge at the hotel to find out. Well, not only the concert was not canceled, it was sold out!! We went all the way to Vienna and thanks to Viator we could not see the concert. This was totally unacceptable because we were there for only a few nights and if you don’t buy your tickets ahead of time all those concerts are sold out so you would not be able to attend any!

Serious music lovers

The musicians were talented, performing in a stunning setting, but our seats were very far back and it was hard to see much on the small projector sceen. It was also freezing in December! Top tip: Dress for outside temperatures! Would not recommend for everyone. More serious music lovers would probably enjoy.

Great pre-Christmas experience

Concert was excellent, but Cathedral very cold. Should have more information on web site as to how to find best seating and more information on facility and program.

Great concert but ticketing arrangements disappointing.

It was a lovely Christmas experience however the ticketing arrangements at the location were very disappointing. At one stage we were told that since we had no seat number our booking was invalid and we would not be admitted and to seek a refund. Eventually , my booking was located and we were admitted .

Mediocre. Look elsewhere for a better experience

The concert was okay, a cool experience but we were expecting to hear some classical works and organ music. The organ never played. So that was disappointing. The musicians were okay, one violin was the star of the show, others mediocre. Expected to be wowed but weren’t.

NICE but not extra

It was nice, but nothing special It woul be better if the performance was with most popular classical music playes of Betoven, Mozart...

Not enough

The Stephanskirche is very beautiful and suitable for a nice Christmas concert. However, the music was very difficult to hear and the repertoire was quite boring. Lots of short pieces. It made no impression at all. The price-quality ratio was more than insufficient. With the entrance fees and approximately 1000 visitors, the budget should be sufficient to make it a more than good performance with good and balanced sound amplification of the orchestra and singers. And a much better choice of repertoire.

Great Concert at St Stephen's Cathedral

Very good concert at St Stephen's Cathedral. Musicians and vocalists were excellent. Music was a mix of classical and Christmas music. The concerted lasted about an hour. Good seats.

Organ concert St Stephens

I loved the pieces where many of the pipes were utilized powerfully. Although I did not feel that our seats were the more expensive that I paid for since we were off to the side and Viator's customer service was disappointing when I simply wanted to add 2 more seats to my reservation. However, the concert itself was lovely.

Christmas Concert in the Beautiful St. Stephen's Church

We loved the concert. We are not generally classical music people, but the experience was beautiful and a nice time to reflect and appreciate talented musicians.

Absolutely fabulous & what a stunning venue! The acoustics were phenomenal. It certainly was a highlight of our trip & would highly recommend.

Charged twice for same event….

I was charged twice for the same event and it’s impossible to find a way to contact anyone to address the issue. The website froze so I had to re enter all my contact/ credit details a second time to book the event and then received two email confirmations and realized I was charged twice. Frustrating that this company doesn’t allow for an easier communication process when something goes wrong. The concert was lovely though.

Memorable organ concert

The concert was wondeful. The organ was in the center of the church so the organist was visible to those of us who sat behind him. The sound was magnificent. The organist played 3 set pieces and one was an improvisation. He explained each in english then german. He graciously played an encore.

It was a great concert...

It was a great concert but we paid for tickets that said they have a view and we could not see. That was disappointing.

Beautiful Vienna activity

Experiencing a concert by very talented musicians in a beautiful venue was a very special occasion for our family. Check-in was simple and seating in rows with view of orchestra was a great experience.

A unique experience in Vienna

A lovely and unique experience, for those who appreciate listening to music in a very different setting. Sitting in the cathedral and listening to the concert was simply inspiring.

I would do it again

Excellent soloists, excellent value for money. The atmosphere in this particular church is unique. Awe is the proper word. Also your organisation was/is commendable.

Dramatic and Sometimes Disturbing Organ Music.

The pipe organ concert was very dramatic. It was at times deeply disturbing due to the nature of the music. The program that was passed out was in German only. An English language version would have helped many English attendees understand the significance of the message behind the music.

Superb experience

The church was so beautiful! The acoustics were warm and welcoming, too. We heard Vivaldi’s Four Seasons played by virtuosi with such expression. It was fabulous’

Beautiful Venue and Performance

As the venue of the concert, St Stephen's Cathedral was breath-taking. The Quintet that played Vivaldi's Four Seasons was fantastic in their music and their obvious absolute joy in performing for us. This was a wonderful, memorable evening.

Organ experience fantastic

Wow! What an experience hearing the organs. Brilliant! Well organised, fabulous acoustics, about an hour long.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons

A truly superb venue for Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, the 5 musicians gave us a real treat. I was so glad I had booked a few days in advance, I was seated only 7 rows from the front.

Lovely Venue

Beautiful experience. The venue is magnificent. The pews are quite hard for sitting for 1 hour and 30 minutes. We were a bit uncomfortable but the venue was lovely.

A lovely way to spend an evening in Vienna

A beautiful church, right in the heart of Vienna old town. This is a perfect backdrop for some wonderful music.

Incredible surroundings, wonderful musicians, acoustically limited

The musicians were top notch, though I bought what I though was the most expensive ticket I could not see them. Obviously the venue of St Stephen”s was incredibly beautiful, the acoustics were borderline. It was not the experience I was hoping for.

Cat 1 seats made a big difference. Building is amazing and the sound good. Could do with more sound I think but I'm no expert

Concert was well organized and lovely. The church was very hot. Almost too uncomfortable but the organist was so talented it was worth it.

Vivaldi's Four Seasons concert

Beautiful music by outstanding violinists. It was transforming. I had no internet so could not show tickets. Person at gate was not that nice. Had to run to McDonalds for internet and photograph QR code. Seating is torturous although it's understood that is the venue. It would stop me from going back a second time.

Excellent concert

The overall setting and acoustics in the cathedral were spectacular! The musicians were enchanting and very very talented! thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening.

The worst concert ever

My daughter and I went to listen to the four seasons of Vivaldi at the saint Stephen's cathedral of Vienna. I have been going to many classical music concerts all over the word. That one was definitely the worst one.The "musicians" were totally out of key most of the time, there no harmony at all between them, it sounded like each one of them was playing his/her part independently. The whole event looked and sounded like an early rehearsal of 12 years' olds for the end of the year concert. It was absolutely pathetic. A shame.

Wonderful experience.

The music was superb and the musicians clearly look like they enjoyed playing the four seasons. Saint Stephen’s is an amazing venue.

A total disgrace !!! One of the most respected organ players in Europe held an organ concert in the church. Next door a rock concert was on. The organ concert was totally ruined. I have a history of over 10 000 live music acts, and I've never witnessed anything this horrible. I will not blame on either of the performers, but the organizers wre totally lost. A cacophony like this should not be possible in a city filled with this amount of cultural experience. Vienna is not entitled to the name of a cultural capital. As mentioned: a total disgrace.

Great depending on circumstances

The concert was great, but it was too hot and stuffy for my friend to stay inside. Not a shared experience in this case, otherwise the Cathedral is stunning.
