Mount Batur Sunrise Hike and Hidden Waterfall

Amazing day

We had an amazing day. The view was spectacular despite it being cloudy. Our driver/guide Rapa was excellent, very polite and safely got us to every stop. He even led us watch the champions league final in his phone! Agum was a very good guide who took us to the top and back. He was very patient, made a great breakfast and told us about the local language, food and customs. Thanks a lot Rapa and Agum for a great day!

Great hike and amazing waterfalls!

The hike was hard but so worth it! Ari was our hiking guide up the mountain. She is a rockstar! The hike was pretty hard for me so she carried my backpack up around halfway! She made sure to lend a hand on the tricky parts, cooked us breakfast at the top and took some great pictures for us! She was so friendly and personable, we loved her!! Arnawe was our driver for the day and was great! He was helpful and a safe driver! Took us to the hike and to the waterfalls!!

Rapa and the mountain guide are the best

I did the turn with Rapa as a driver, he was nice, and he did the best to make my trip well and comfortable. The guide to go to the top of the mountain was also super nice, and did the best! Perfect

Difficult hike but worth the work!

We had a great time watching the sunrise on the mountain! The hike is strenuous but worth it. It was very hot hiking up and down but very cold and windy at the top as you wait for the sun. Our driver, Dekwan Selem, was punctual and gracious enough to drive into our villas driveway that wasn’t paved just to get us back sooner. He was understanding of the fact that my husband wasn’t feeling well and drove as carefully as possible to make the ride bearable. Our guide on the mountain was very experienced and patient as we had others in our group that couldn’t keep up his pace.

Mount Batur daily trip ,hiking,waterfall and hot springs!

Highly recommended! We booked the early morning hike/sunrise at the Mount Batur! Our driver was Pendi and he was very very helpful, kind and he always made sure that our needs were met since the pick up from our hotel until the drop off! He did his very best for us to have the most convenient and at the same time fun trip! If in Bali, definitely don't miss it!

Great experience!

My husband and I had a great day with this experience! Everything was smooth from the second our driver Kupit picked us up right at our villa until he dropped us back off. The sunrise was beautiful, our guide Maggie made sure we were comfortable the entire way up and down. Breakfast was an added bonus at the top! After the hike, Kupit took us to a coffee plantation where we tasted locally made coffees and teas followed by a beautiful waterfall. He was extremely informative, teaching us all about Balinese culture through the day. Kupit and Maggie were very pleasant and helpful and I would recommend them both for this trip!

Great little adventure

Had a great trip with our crew as we walked Mount Batur. It’s a tough getup at 1:30am but it was a great day. Our driver Begong was amazing, looked after us all day and navigated Bali traffic.

Amazing last day of 2023!

Hiking Mount Batur was a highlight of our time in Bali! It’s more strenuous than we expected (1,5hrs steep uphill and about an hour downhill) but the view at sunrise was spectacular! Even with lots of fog and some clouds it was magical! Pasek was our driver and he was great! After the hike he took us to a coffee plantation and to see the Manuaba waterfall. It was challenging to walk to see the waterfall after the volcano hike as my knees were hurting from the downhill but it was totally worth it!

Great trip

The trek itself was very well organised with experienced guides. We had Wayan who was very patient and considerate! It’s not an easy climb though Our driver Wayan Lestari was friendly and super helpful

Worth the hike

This was a very unique day. Although it’s a very early start, the sunrise at the top is well worth it. Fair warning, the hike is very physically challenging, however there is the option to dirt bike to the top (at own expense). Our driver Dekwan was very helpful and stayed with us the throughout the day. He guides us around the waterfalls and was a very good photographer. Would definitely recommend.

A wonderful hike with nice guide

Well organized hike with local guides and nice visit to waterfalls. For the hiking, there were small groups of 5 assigned to each guide to take care of you. Many stops/breaks to relax through the dedicated spaces. Water & light food provided. Time well managed to enjoy the sunrise in the summit. The driver was very kind and helpful.

Do it!!!

Totally worth the early wake up call! Our driver, Subrata, was on time and got us to our guide easily. Subrata also then took us to a hidden waterfall and we were the only ones there it was awesome. He was so friendly and the best driver! Our guide, Wayan boring, was the absolute best!!!! So nice and made sure our whole group got up safely. He also took us to a spot at the top that wasn’t crowded, and brought us banana sandwiches, hot chocolate, and hard boiled eggs! He took amazing pictures and videos, you could tell he cared about his hikers.

Amazing day at batur

Absolutely amazing tour, everything went very smoothly and our driver Subrata was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend.

BEWARE: Not for the weak-hearted or those with dust allergies or asthma!!

The only good thing about this trip was our driver-I Wayan Ariadi. He was kind and sweet, and a very good driver. Highly recommend him!! But we were not able to enjoy the trek because the climb was far too strenuous. If you have allergies or heart problems, beware. It is a very steep hike through sandy soil that is kicked up by the hundreds of hikers and motorbikes they have going up the trail. My asthma kicked in immediately due to the conditions, which caused my heart to start palpitating and I had to turn back. Then they refused to give me even a partial refund, even though it was medical concerns that made us leave. We did not get to go to the waterfalls. We did not get to see the sunrise. Overall, It was not a positive experience and I would not recommend.

Incredible experience - amazing hike, sunrise, and waterfall!

This was an incredible experience! Our driver, Pasek, was at our hotel at 2:15am ready to pick us up and take us on an amazing day trip. He was super friendly and awesome. The hike was definitely not easy, but the views at the top of Mt. Batur were simply incredible and so worth it. After the sunrise hike, Pasek took us to an incredible waterfall and we were the only ones there!! This is extremely rare for any waterfall in Bali as they typically attract tons of tourists and require you to wait to take pictures. 5/5 experience and highly recommend!

Amazing!

Our driver Kupit picked us up from our hotel right on time and took us safely to the mountain. There we found our tour guide Kam and shortly after we started the hike. Our group was consisting of 4 people which is very good as other groups had way more many. Kam was very helpful during the hike and when we reached the summit he made breakfast for us. Later, we were picked up by Kupit and he took us to the coffee plantation and later he gave us two options to choose between 2 waterfalls. The overall experience was very unique and Kupit and Kam made this tour very pleasant.

Mt Batur we made it!!!

Gede our guide up the mountain, was very helpful, let us rest when we needed but he was also fun and nice man. It was challenging but fun, we had a great time. And the view from the top was amazing.

Amazing Experience

Had a great experince with both Nova and Fasik! Nova was a fantastic guide on our sunrise hike up Mount Batur - super friendly and very supportive to everyone in the group. Fasik gave us a tour of some beautiful local waterfalls and made sure to find spots that werent the most popular with tourists. Definitely worth it!!

Difficult, but absolutely worth it!

Hike: Rapa picked us up from our Ubud airbnb on time (2:30am) and was a pleasure. Got in touch via WhatsApp the day prior to remind us what we needed for the trip (as listed), which was much appreciated. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits were available before the hike. Toilet also available. Our guides were Teki and Synthia. They were fun and encouraging as we struggled up a steep hike. We’ve hiked difficult routes before, but the steepness really got to us. Around 40 minutes in, we came to a rest stop where motors were available to take the rest of the way for ~350k IDR/person. Really glad it was an option because we knew we’d have to take many breaks and we didn’t want to miss the sunrise. We still had about a 15 minute hike after the motor drop-off. Views were amazing!!! Teki and Synthia made us very comfortable and conversation was great! Food and drinks available to buy - make sure to bring cash. Waterfall: We chose to go to Kanto Lampo… beautiful. There are people there that will take your photos and guide your poses haha. Great experience :) Rapa told us there was an option to go to a luwak coffee plantation post hike, but we passed on it as we went to one on another day. Highly recommend that too though. Everyone was wonderful. I hope you get a chance to meet Rapa, Teki, and Synthia on your trip! Btw, having WhatsApp is a great tool for booking things in Bali :)

Stunning

Stunning experience, however the hike is not for totally unsporting people :-) (some took a motorcycle after the first part). Well guided, perfectly in-time-pick-up by NESA along with his sympathetic personality! Absolute recommendation!

Eka was a lovely tour guide and all round person to hang out with! He was on time, well prepared, had a wealth of knowledge about the sites and culture of Bali. He gave us as much time as was needed at all of the places, and took us to a fantastic hidden waterfall. Would highly recommend as one of the tour guides! Thank you Eka.

Mount Batur hike was terrible

What they don't tell you in the sales pitch is, you will be hiking up the mountain as jeeps and motorbikes go flying past you, almost hitting you and blowing exhaust fumes in your face continually. There was also approximately 3000 people plus their tour guides who will hike the mountain at the same time as you so it won't be a peaceful hike, and there will always be someone within 30cm's off you or falling on you for the slippery parts of the track. The breakfast included is a chocolate bar, banana sandwich and boiled egg (that is not actually boiled). And when you finally get to the top, if your wanting to sit peacefully and watch the sunrise (like you paid for) forget it. We had 2 separate tour guides tell us we were not able to just sit on the mountain and watch the sunrise. Unless we were taking selfies or instagram photos, we needed to move. By the second we got up and moved and surprise, no one went there to take photos. The tour guides ran around saying 'photo' 'photo' and trying to get people to take photos. Most declined. They were very pushy and rude. The top of the mountain is also quiet vast, there was plenty of room for everyone to sit/stand and take their own photos but the morning was ruined by the tour guides running around being rude and pushy and trying to force you to buy bracelets, chocolate bars or soft drinks. When I told our tour guide that we were told to move and didn't even get to see the sunrise because of the other tour guides, he said sorry and that was all. The waterfall tour and coffee plantation afterwards was lovely and really enjoyable. The locals were friendly and the coffee was amazing. But I would not recommend the hike if you are going to Bali. If we had of known, we would of just done the waterfall and coffee tour.

Mount Batur & waterfall trip

It was a well organised trip to mount Batur. My driver JRo was amazing. He arrived at my hotel early and messaged to let me know he was already here. Super safe driver. The trek up the mountain was tough but was worth it! The sunrise was beautiful and the views were stunning. Our guide was good and really helped a couple of the girls who were struggling on the tour. There are a lot of your groups doing the exercise on so it can get busy but it’s worth it! JRo then took me a coffee plantation, which wasn’t my cup of tea! It was then followed by the Kanto lampo waterfall. He was very sweet and took photos and videos for me there as I was the only person on the tour. Overall, it was a great trip and would highly recommend. JRo - thanks for driving me around. You were great!

Amazing!

Rapi was our driver and he was amazing. He was very informative and helpful with any questions we had. I would definitely recommend him to everyone!

Summit

Tomblos was amazing as our guide this morning, took good care of us and got us to the summit in time for sunset, would recommend

Be prepared for a steep and sweaty hike!

This was one of the most physically demanding experience I’ve ever done! Sar our guide helped us so much along the way taking breaks whenever we needed it and helping us up the really steep and rocky parts. Bring good shoes, bring an extra jacket or jumper if you can because you will sweat and it’s really cold once you’re at the top. Bring a backpack but don’t bring water as they’ll provide a bottle for you and a walking stick. There are motorcycles to take you up and down (for a price). We took the motorcycle down but it’s probably better to take it up and then walk down and enjoy the view but again it is very steep!

Great adventure hiking with Tehnik. Early morning but worth the amazing views and freshly cooked breakfast on top of the mountain. Sapri was a great driver and had good knowledge of local culture.

A great experience with a fun atmosphere

A great experience for my partner and I. The hike was challenging but doable, and the atmosphere was fun and supportive. The waterfall and the coffee plantation afterwards were a nice bonus and not too strenuous for the sleep deprived. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a seamless experience.

Beautiful sunrise

We really enjoyed this tour with Patrik and Tomblos! The views were stunning and they were both extremely helpful! It was all worth the effort!

Once in a lifetime experience

wayan bagonk was our driver and he was very kind and drove us all over. He never rushed us and offered to show us all the way down to the waterfall and took nice photos of us. We spent the whole day with him and he continually offered to show us to new places. The hike was beautiful and amazing, very worth it! It is steep in some parts and was tiring but a once in a lifetime experience.

Great experience

Sunrise was breath taking once you got to the top! Pickup from our hotel in Nusa Dua....early morning wake up but worth it. Our tour guide was good. He asked an appropriate number of times if we needed to stop on the way up (btw AllTrails categorizes this as a hard hike which I would completely agree with). I would recommend this hike to anyone who is down for a good trip and a wild class view!

Great experience

Me and my partner had an amazing day with an amazing tour guide Eri, the hike was definitely hard and the tour guide was very patient with the pace we wanted to go, the sky was clear and the sunrise was surreal, after the sunrise Eri took us to the perfect instagramable spot which was a beautiful view, the coffee plantation stop was a great experience and very friendly people, was great learning about the coffee and trying it as well and trying the chocolate. The last stop was the waterfall where we were able to take a swim and Eri got amazing photographs while we were in front of the waterfall, overall unforgettable day.

Rapi was a great driver and our guide for the hike was amazing and super helpful. The tour also includes a coffee plantation stop which isn’t mentioned. The waterfall is gorgeous and the views at the hike are worth it (it’s a steep and slippery hike so be prepared).

Challenging but worth it hike - views were unreal but so was the temperature! Make sure you rug up and enjoy this tour

The sunrise was lovely however very cold - definitely rug up. The walk back was also nice, much easier than the walk up. The tour guides we had, Ari and Sapri were fantastic! Good to chat to and were very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.

Lucky on the weather

We got so lucky with our hike the weather was terrible the days before and our hike was amazing sunrise and great views! It really gave our vacation trip a nice extra touch. Our guide Ketut was great too ! As a young and small group Ketut brought us up there in 1h15min, thanks to that we got the best seats in my opinion for the show. Mt. Batur was the biggest highlight, the coffee plantation and the waterfall were very cool but we were quite tired since we were up since 2am. Our driver Dekwan brought us to all our destinations and picked us up on time. Overall great experience.

AN ABSOLUTE MUST-DO!

I MADE IT TO THE SUMMIT!!!!! The day began at 1.30am, when Sapri, our driver, arrived punctually at the villa. Along the drive to Mount Batur, Sapri filled us in on all the details of the hike and what to expect when we made it back down. We arrived at a gorgeous rest stop or starting point. I guess you could call it “base camp”, but it was really nice, with washroom facilities, coffee and tea. They handed out torchlights and bamboo walking sticks for those who didn’t have any. It was also possible to borrow (rent?) jackets. At base camp, we met Nova, the guide assigned to my group. This man was heaven sent!!! I’m not the best hiker (Not ashamed to admit that I was the weakest link in my group), and my poor eyesight made this trek even harder. But he was reassuring, sure footed, lightning fast, encouraging, and offered a steady, solid hand whenever I needed extra help. With his help and cheerful demeanour, we all made it to the top!!! He secured excellent benches for us and went off to make us a breakfast of egg sandwiches, fruits and chocolates. (After 1.5hrs of hiking up the mountain in the dark, that was the most delicious breakfast in the universe) We were really lucky because the weather was good and we witnessed a pretty perfect sunrise! (Extra special shout-out for his photography skills!!!) (At the last rest stop before heading back to basecamp, you can buy cold Bintang beer to celebrate!) Back at basecamp, we had more coffee and a nice rest before Sapri whisked us off to a coffee plantation where we had a quick tour of the farm and saw cacao pods, coffee fruits, vanilla and the animals that “produce” kopi luwak. The coffee tasting was fabulous because we all needed even more caffeine to keep us going. (Our favourites were the Bali spice tea and ginseng coffee. Don’t knock it till you try it! Haha!) The waterfall was the perfect cool and relaxing end to our day (with plenty of pretty photos) Sapri is an excellent and alert driver and we were so comfortable in his vehicle that many of us had very good naps on the drive. Highly recommended!!! Final notes: Wear layers! You work up a sweat, but it does get chilly at the top. Wear hiking or trekking boots / shoes. They will save you from injuries. Don’t be shy to ask for quick breaks in between. It will help you reach the top!

A1 excursion!!

Eri ( the driver) was very kind, and can adjust trip for our taste. Communication was perfect. Nova (the trekking guide) was fabulous! He was super helpfull with my boy ( 12 yo) and give me some good help too! He took great photos of us on top!! Dont hesitate to chose them!

Good adventure

Very nice experience ! I went on a solo trip and met some nice girls at the mount. My very nice driver Sapir picked me up in Canggu at 1:30 am and drove me to the mount. At 4 am we started to climb for 1,5 hours (be ready to sweat haha 😅 ). Our guide Wayan was really helpful and nice, always asking if we’re good. The breakfast he prepared after the hiking was very nice as we were starving when we arrived all the way up haha (you can also bring some snacks). The sunset and the way down were really worth if, very beautiful view. I also brought my tripod for pics. After we went to a small coffee plantation next Ubud, it was ok but not very impressive. And the last step was the Kanto Lampo Waterfall. I really enjoyed my time there and took good pics, I was lucky to go when there were not a lot of people. Pretty good adventure over all☺️

Sunrise Mt. Batur trek, Coffee & Waterfall

Excellent experience from start to finish. 🤩Arrived early, comfy car, safe driving and good conversation. The trek was well guided, safe, and had wonderful sights. Customisable Itinerary

Booked thus tour for a custom itinerary (tegalalang for lunch, ubud art market afterwards). Driver Garis was very punctual and accommodating. Trek leader too. This company also have their private space and building for their own trekkers to disembark for the hike . Highly recommended!

Amazing exercise in combination with really nice guides

We have done the Mount Batur Sunrise Hike and Hidden Waterfall and without any doubt we can recommend this excursion to anyone! We got picked-up early in the morning from our hotel in Uluwatu by our very friendly and enthusiastic guide Kaka and his driver Kedak. After bringing us to Mount Batur, we started our climb with the experienced local called Nana who was really nice and explained a lot about the hiking. He got us in the group pace in time at the top to see the beautiful sunrise where after he prepared our breakfast (which was really needed after the exercise). After giving us the time on the top, Nana brought us back to the starting point where Kaka and Kedak were ready for us again to show us the waterfall. They were so nice to us that they even brought us to a second waterfall and they were giving us more time to have a taste of the local area. All with all we had an amazing day with all our guides Kaka, Kedak and Nana whom have made it very special for us.

Once in a lifetime trip

My 2 friends and I had the best time on this hike. Our guide Nova was terrific. Would recommend to all. The hike was supposed to take an 1 and half hours and we made it up in under an hour. Best views from my whole month long trip throughout Asia.

Definitely worth waking up early!

Amazing experience climbing an active volcano that gives you not only a beautiful sunrise with breakfast moment but also a gorgeous view of Bali's mountain lake and it s surroundings! My driver Yogi was also really nice and helpful and he made what could have been a long drive a fun and positive tour of central Bali! Definitely recommend!

Adi is the best on Mt Batur

The mountain was a challenge but I would not have made it with Adi. If you want an experienced guide that is warm friendly and knowledgeable ask for Adi. You won’t be disappointed !

Wonderful experience

This is an experience that you do not want to miss. We had a wonderful time. The hike isnt for the faint of heart, but itll e well worth it once you reach the top. The guides are patient and helpful, Our tour guies were Putu and Buana. We all recommend this company.
