Epic Mount Bromo Sunrise Tour from Surabaya & Malang

Going for "Sunrise trip" with no sunrise?

No time for anything, they hurry all the trip. They texted us the day before the trip that they will pick us up at midnight, so we went to sleep and set alarm for 23:45. When we woke up I had missed calls from our driver who texted me at 23:25 that he is waiting for us. After picking up other people (there were 6 of us in the Jeep) we went for a 3 hour journey to the volcano, but the jeep is so uncomfortable and packed that you simply can’t sleep. We arrived to King Kong Viewpoint at around 3AM, the driver just showed us the direction where to go and stayed at the car. He also told us to be back at the car at 5:30 even though the sunrise time is officially at 5:33. So you arrive at the viewpoint at complete darkness, ahead of other people, and exactly at the moment when it starts to be interesting, when the sky starts to be dark blue and you can see the wonder under you, you should pack and go back to the jeep as the walk to the jeep takes 15 minutes. The driver told us it is because long queues that are on the streets later, but if I woke up at midnight for a sunrise I don’t care about waiting in queue on the way back, I want to see the sunrise as it was precisely the reason for the entire trip… Next stop is a walk to a rim of a volcano, the driver gave us 45 minutes to go there and back. Only the way to the rim took us 35 minutes, how should we enjoy the amazing views if have to rush back? Of course the driver waited for us, but you simply don’t enjoy the time you paid for if you are being rushed all day. We saw a lot of other amazing viewpoints along the way back but we didn’t stop anywhere, not even just for a quick photo.

Bromo is amazing thankfully the IDN crew saves the day and makes our trip

We had to book last minute with IDN because another company cancelled on us just 24 hours out. Thankfully IDN came to the rescue. Nadal our guide created a wonderful experience. His English was top notch and he showed us all of the best spots on the tour. The drivers also rocked, and for someone with motion sickness this is a huge plus, they drove smoothly when everyone else looked like they were playing bumper cars. You get what you pay for and this was worth every penny!

Must do in East Java

I did the tour with Nadal, and I had a great experience. I was able to get all the pictures I wanted and the full Bromo experience. When visiting East Java, Bromo is a must do activity, and Nadal does a great job. He was able to answer all my questions about Java/Indonesia and gave me more recommendations on what to do in Malang. Both the drivers, to and from the hotel, as well as the 4x4 driver, were exceptionally amiable and accommodating, readily stopping for breaks whenever necessary. Additionally, the breakfast provided was in a nice place with amazing view. Overall, my experience was flawlessly executed, thanks to the professionalism and friendliness of Nadal and the entire tour team.

Simply the best

We are a family of 3, all mature adults. It was a very tiring journey to get there from Surabaya, but it was totally worth it. The private tour worked for us as we were seeking more comfort. The driver and a guide were very young pairs, but courteous. The climbing to the crater would have been a real challenge without a horse's help. I see the young and fit had no problem getting up there, but I was glad I got help. The view to the mountain and crater from sunrise was something I would never forget. So please find time to do the tour when you are in Indonesia. It's only a one hour flight from Bali to Surabaya, or you can travel closer to the town near the Bromo. Highly recommend it.

Epic Sunrise Experience

We did the sunrise Bromo Tour through our travel Agent, Happy Trails. The Bromo area is full of nicely restored, vintage Toyota Land Cruisers. Our driver, an owner of an excellent medium blue example, came to our hotel to meet us at 3:00 AM. Soon, we were in a convoy of Land Cruisers making their way up the winding roads through the darkness to the view point. From area where he parked, we had to walk about a mile up the concrete pass. We came across a guide that offered to take us up to a superior viewing area. It was worth it, as we had an unobstructed view on the edge of the rim overlooking the biggest crater that contains the Mt. Bromo caldera and other volcanic mounds. Thankfully, the clouds settled down into the valley, giving us a good view of the steaming volcano in the morning light. The driver's have your name taped to the rear window to aid finding your Land Cruiser among the many parked in the area. From there we drove back down into the big crater, driving across the dry lake-bed in the fog, to do the 3 mile hike to the caldera rim. There is the option to take a horse to the caldera, but we enjoyed the walk. It was very scenic and we got back after such an adventure, to a nice breakfast at the hotel by 9:00 AM. It was definitely worth it to get up at 2:30 AM

Great sunrise, but over-priced

The rise was clearly amazing! But…It kinda hurted when the others on the same jeep showed me that they paid 300K less for the same trip. Tip: inform yourself on travel groups where to find the cheapest deal. They are almost all the same anyway.

Had an incredible experience on our mount bromo sunrise tour. Our guide was so attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and also ensured we found great spots to view the sunrise even with the crowds (and took great photos of us!). The jeep experience was really fun and there were plenty of opportunities to order hot tea or coffee and small snacks to warm up while waiting for the sunrise once we got to the top. the car was very comfortable so we could sleep on the way there and back. We were even able to arrange a pickup in malang and drop off in surabaya so we could catch our flight out later that day.

Amazing sunrise in Bromo!

Best sunrise I’ve ever seen

Started at midnight from our hotel in Malang, we stopped quickly for a coffee just before entering Bromo mountain. Then after another couple hours drive we finally parked and had the chance to take some coffee or eat some local snacks or just stand by the fire with local people. After that (around 4 am) we started walking towards the sunrise spot (you will find a steep way on your right, not easy to do but from up there the view is the best). Temperature is really cold and there’s a strong wind but starting from some minutes before 5 am you will see the best sunrise of your entire life, really breathtaking. Big shoutout to our driver Willy who is the best photographer, when we later visited the volcano he took some amazing shots. P.s. the walk on the volcano Rim is also really memorable and terrific

Good tour for solo trip

The guide is very flexible and responsive. Very good experience. Trustful. No hidden fees. The tour route is also well organised. There are sufficient time to enjoy the view: stars night, sunrise, trekking.

Met all my hopes and exceeded expectations

I had a wonderful experience on this tour. I joined four others which was a great time to meet new people and hear about their experiences in Indonesia. Our driver, Patrick, was fantastic on the rough terrain, and I had fun even in the car. Patrick would give us a time frame of when to be back at the vehicle, but ultimately was flexible and left it up to us how long we wanted to spend at each destination. The sunrise point was AMAZING, 10/10, and I enjoyed being able to buy hot coffee, noodles, a hat, and gloves before standing out waiting for sunrise. The crater was another great experience - it was nice to go early before it got too hot because the walk made me warm but a nice opportunity to stretch our legs. The crater was interesting and I loved that we were able to walk around the top a bit if we desired. Overall 10/10 experience, I highly recommend this tour, it met all my hopes and exceeded my expectations.

Terrible service for the price ! Don’t recommend

While the tour company organised a guide and car to come and pick me more or less on time from the location communicated ahead in time. The so called tour guide was an extremely inexperienced and no knowledge at all. She took me to sunrise spot accompanied me. When we went to the crater walk she didn’t want to walk so gave some lame excuse and left me by myself - I went alone all the way to the crater and came back by myself. No cellular network left me wandering to find them. I wish there was a star below 1 . After paying over my nose - i didn’t expect this.

Bromo sunrise

We took this trip directly from Surabaya airport. Our guide Afifal and the driver came to pick us up so that we went straight to bromo volcano. Afifal was a great guide, friendly and very professional. He was keen to support in every situation and thought us about local traditions. We recommend this excursion and if you are lucky enough you may get him as a tour guide for the day

Best experiences!!

The sunrise tour was a bit chilly, but as soon as the first rays of light hit the landscape, it was pure magic. The volcanic crater was both eerie and fascinating, with plumes of smoke rising from its depths. The jeep ride through the lunar-like surroundings was exhilarating. Fahru as guide were knowledgeable and ensured everyone had a memorable experience. A definite highlight of my trip!

Breathtaking experience

Breathtaking experience. I’ve got to see the volcano from 3am till sunrise and then climbed up to see it up close. The driver was so nice as well.

My favorite part of Tour was hearing the Volcano, it is One of the moments I will remeber for very very long time. Just a comment, quite a lotTime you are in jeeep driving, and then many places to stop for photo. Well organised and executed tour

Well organised and executed tour. The tour guide Vincent spoke English well and he and the drivers took good care of me and my uncle throughout the trip. I have many great photos from this tour. For anyone thinking of livestreaming I couldn't get a cellular connection during the sunrise phase but was able to stream once we got to the sand sea and Mount Bromo itself. Bring warm clothing that you can delayer later, you'll need it.

Great trip and beautiful sunrise !

Was a great trip and the sunrise was beautiful ! It gets very chilly at the top so wrap up warm or you can rent a coat from the locals in the area for between 20 - 50 K (Indonesian rupiah). But remember that as the sun rises when your trekking to the top of the crater it becomes very warm! I think layers is the best option so you can remove as you wish. Our guide was called Fahru and he was all round lovey. He explained the different names of the mountains and was a really nice guy to chat to while watching the sunrise. Would highly recommend the trip!

Breathtaking

To watch the sunrise from mount bromo so near to me it’s a lifetime experience. The guide Sugiarto is so knowledgeable & friendly. The driver from Surabaya Hassan is a very careful driver as well as the jeep driver (can’t remember his name). A memory that we will never forget!

It was amazing!

Had an amazing experience with IDN! Our tour guide, Fakhrudin was really friendly and explain everything about the sites. He even took breathtaking pictures of the view and us! And the driver, Rifqi was really polite and made sure that my boyfriend and I were comfortable during the car trip. Would certainly use their service again if we ever spend holiday in surabaya! :)

Wonderful Service!

We found this company from TripAdvisor since we saw that they have good reviews on it. First of all, we did not expect too much about our Bromo trip. Budy as the trip planner replied to our email so detail about the itinerary. We picked up by Budy and Ato in our hotel at Malang around midnight using a private car, then we went to the last village before Bromo entrance. We changed the car with 4WD, the jeep driver very professional even it was around 3 AM to drive in so early morning. At the sunrise point, Ato the guide served us with hot coffee that makes our condition better since it was around 4-7 degrees. And what makes this trip was amazing, is the guide and photographer, Ato, who always capture our moment in Bromo, a very skilled photographer. Amazing Family Trip

I went to visit Mt. Bromo with my family, 2 adults and 1 my little sister. First I lil' bit afraid to my sister since she's 7 years old, and couldn't fit since we have to depart at Midnight and dealt with 4-6 degrees temperature in Bromo sunrise point. But, our tour guide knew our condition very well, before watched the sunrise, He told us to have some warm tea or coffee before. To be honest, It makes our body keep warm. And He also provide masks in case to prevent more cold air get in our body through nose. When sunrise happened, it was so amazing, the tour guide took us to his best spot to watch the sunrise. Good Job Budy! When climbed the volcano, He recommend to took a horse to shorten the time because we had a flight to catch. Overall, I truly recommend this company, so professional and know how to respond the costumers condition very well. It was a memorable trip!

The trip was enjoyable. They picked us up on time. The guides were friendly and made sure we were comfortable during the ride. To be honest, when I went here year ago by myself, I had no memorable photos. But with these guys, I got really nice photos, even my friends asked me whether I hired professional photographer. Wonderful Bromo Tour

It was really hard for us choosing tour operator for Bromo in Surabaya, and I found this company in TripAdvisor since I read good reviews on it. I thought this trip would be the same as other Bromo trip, but surprisingly it won't. First, Budy and Ato were picked up us exactly on time at our hotel. Second, the best things we had in this trip, we got such a amazing photos taken by the guide Ato. At the last time we are know that, they are professional photographer. I little disappointing because we could't climb the crater since it was closed for security reason, but overall this trip amazing. they took us to their hidden spot which were not so many tourist, really appreciate it! I very recommend this company to the others who would like to visit Mt. Bromo, very professional and friendly crew. Good job guys!

An Unforgettable Experience

I don’t even know where to begin with how amazing this trip was. From the moment we were picked up (which was exactly on time), to the end of the trip, we had the best experience of our whole time in Indonesia. The sunrise itself was beautiful, and we got very lucky with there being no clouds. Even before the sunrise, the stars in the sky were the brightest we’d ever seen before, and it was magical. Everything was timed perfectly. The anticipation everyone had waiting for the sunrise was incredible, and made the big event unforgettable. But the real shoutout goes to the guides and driver, who we can’t thank enough. Friendly, professional, and went out of their way to make everything wonderful. We even got some fantastic photographs taken for us, and we were touched by how much time and effort was put into making this trip special. Exceptional value for money, wonderful views, and even better company- could not have asked for anything more. Just make sure to bring something to keep you warm at the top, and a mask for when you climb to the crater after sunrise. It was truly the best way to end our travels. If we are ever back in Surabaya we’ll make sure to book with them again. Thank you again for such a brilliant experience!

Great trip to Mount Bromo

The tour with Willy, our driver, was a great experience. We were picked up at the hotel at midnight on the dot. Willi is a very entertaining and friendly guide, so the trip was entertaining. The scenery there is unique anyway. Of course, you have to be aware that you won't be alone. But that has nothing to do with the agency. I would book with idn again at any time, especially since the price was very fair and the communication beforehand went smoothly. Thank you very much and all the best

Agreements were neatly fulfilled. Picked up at hotel in Surabaya and after about 2 hours of driving transferred to 2 (old) 4x4 Toyota Landcruisers to drive to King Kong hill for the sunrise. Then to the volcano crater of Bromo. Everything neatly arranged, good guide. The only downside was that we had the 2 oldest Landcruisers of the approximately 800 that transport tourists. The guide also took photos himself and they were shared with participants afterwards. Already perfectly arranged! Please note: the day of pick-up is the date you must book! Booking pick up on Friday June 11th is sunrise on Saturday. For those select Friday as the date!
