Waste of money, it does tell you good things about Shakespeare, but the boat tour is cheaper with a meal on board, you can walk the bus route in 1 hour

Great tour and hop on hop off useful

A great way to see the sites and the information on the tour was very good. We went round the complete tour then used the hop on hop off, as required for the out of town Ann Hathaway cottage, and other sites. Brilliant.

Worth doing

Good location in centre of Stratford, tour loop takes and hour approx, good comentary by means of headphones supplied ( several languages available) bus clean and comfortable, staff very friendly. We did the full loop first then did a couple of hop on /off, definitely worth doing.

Perfect for our needs

Used the bus today, purchased our tickets in the friendly tourist information centre, and had a really lovely lady driver (so sorry we did not get her name). The tour was informative and peppered with some fun facts. It suited us perfectly as one of our party has mobility issues so we were able to get round to all of the sights, I would definitely recommend

Great way to access attractions around Stratford Upon Avon

Easy to purchase tickets and convenient locations to board bus. Great access and information in relation to various attractions around Stratford Upon Avon. Courteous and helpful drivers.

Overpriced and bit boring

Staff friendly but trip a bit boring. A lot of info given on thatched cottages but descriptions of buildings given before building in view and a little confusing. Especially when informed by driver right means look left !

Excellent tour

So enjoyed this tour. I had just four hours to see as much as I could and this bus tour did the trick. I learned so much about Stratford and Shakespeare. The tours take around an hour. Drivers were super friendly. I will be back to Stratford again.

Definitely a must!

This is a great value for money experience - we did the full loop twice over two days so well worth the money! The audio was clear and kept us interested with its facts! The second time we just enjoyed the view!

Beautiful views absolutely worth a trip

What can I say this is a beautiful way to see stratford-upon-avon in all its glory the weather was glorious so we sat at the back up stairs on the open top beauty and I'm so glad we did we had the best time we saw some beautiful spots there is a headphone audio guide and the bus did provide headphones we chose not to use them because we went more for the views than the history although I do love to learn about places history this day was more about us just having a lovely time and that we did. I'd imagine for a family it would be more on the expensive side because its not cheap but we had already decided what we were doing before we went so this was in our budget already. My advice if the weather is rubbish it would be just like catching a normal bus because you wouldn't see as much from inside but if the weather is nice top deck all the way you can see for miles and let's face it that's what you are paying for. It does get full so get the early for a seat upstairs!

No refund for cancelled tour

The bus didn't turn up at the 1st stop by the tourist information office due to the weather according to the tourist information office staff. There was no notice on the day of the cancellation although prior to the day I had received several marketing emails about my booking. When I requested a refund from the operator Viator I was advised this wouldn't be forthcoming. I would advise you to find something else fun to do in Stratford instead of wasting your money on this outfit.

Great bus tour

My bestie and I try and meet up every few months somewhere new and explore. In May we came to Stratford- upon-Avon and decided to do the open top bus tour. We had a great time on this bus tour. Our tour guide was a lovely man, who was really friendly and informative he was great fun. It got a little breezy when we left the main town and headed out onto the country side so I would reccomend wearing something warm, it was a hot day for us but it was super breezy out in the elements. It was great value for money, we loved it and would reccomend.

Shakespeare history tour

Great commentary and really informative. Would recommend for anyone wanting to bring Shakespeare’s history to life

Good history lesson

A great way to get some history and see the sights. The bus commentary was very good with a good mix of facts and humour. The only thing letting the tour down was only 1 of the 2 headphone sockets for the commentary worked at our seat. Well done to the drivers for getting down the narrow lanes and streets

Multi-language audio guide not available

I bought the tickets for my father who was visiting from Germany and doesn’t understand much English. However, both busses on the route only played the English and French language tracks. Even when I asked the driver, he wasn’t able to enable the German track. Didn’t get anything but “sorry” for having wasted £15 per person on this tour that my dad couldn’t understand anything of. Very disappointed.

The best...

The commentary on this hop-on hop-off bus tour of Stratford is fabulous. Its informative and funny. We learned some interesting facts about where certain phrases come from. And listened to the many amusing anecdotes. Not one boring moment! It's the best way to see the sights. Earphones are supplied free of charge.

One of the highlights!

Fantastic experience - would 100% recommend. Terry our guide was brilliant & we learnt so much about the area and the history behind it. Saw some incredible places and had perfect photo opportunities. Don’t hesitate to book!

Use another company

Can’t add any photos of my experience as the bus didn’t turn up to 2 separate collection points and waited over 2hrs!! Awful situation and so was dealing with customer service who still haven’t issued my refund!! Awful service.

Stratford-Upon-Avon sightseeing

Bought tickets to do the Hop on Hop off bus trip with my husband and our friends. First we stayed on the bus and done the whole journey taking in all the information and sights. Which I must add helped us to decide which places we wanted to visit. We then boarded the bus for a second time to visit the places we wanted to see most. Have to say every bus we boarded the staff were very helpful polite and informative.

Being a proper tourist

Decided to be a proper tourist on my break in Stratford-Upon-Avon and the bus tour does exactly what it says on the website. If you sit outside on the top deck at this time of year, prepare to duck from overhead branches but the driver and audio does warn you. The only point that you really need to get off is Anne Hathaway's cottage and what a delight it is. make sure you take advantage of the multi booking of the three main sights by getting a ticket to all three that lasts a year (a decent discount from paying for each). Well worth the money.

Our day out

We were two elderly ladies not able to do a lot of walking but by using the bus we were able to see many things we wouldn't have seen. We alighted at Ann Hathaway's cottage and had a lovely time looking round. This is something we wouldn't have been able to do if we hadn't used the bus. There was a commentary to listen to on the bus so we could hear some of the history & about places in Stratford on Avon. We also saw some of the lovely countryside even though it was raining. That was another bonus we saw places without getting wet. The drivers were very helpful & pleasant. " My glass shall no persuade me I am old"

Very interesting

Very good value for money . Ticket lasts 24hrs so plenty of time to hop on and off . Tour guide was very knowledgeable and it was very interesting . I was really surprised how far the tour bus went in and around Stratford. Well worth doing

Appalled, waste of time

Appalling, the ports didn’t work, so we spent an hour going around Stratford learning nothing about the history, I complained, I paid £30 I was given £3 refund!!!! I wouldn’t recommend these trips to anyone.

Captivating!

Thoroughly recommend this tour. Got on and off at Anne Hathaway's Cottage. which took slightly less than an hour to complete. Would have liked a second circuit but time was against us. The information provided (ear phones) was enlightening and the scenery wonderful. Weather was fresh but dry and sitting on the top deck was returning to my youth. Great value for money!

Good Bus Tour

The Hop-On-Hop-Off tour bus was interesting and informative. it included the key places associated with Shakespeare and was a good basis for walking and visiting the sites later in the day. Well worth the time and effort. !

A fab way to see the sights (especially if you have limited mobility)😁

My Mum and I decided to take a girly trip to Stratford. As we both have some mobility issues, we were advised (by a friend) to do the Hop On, Hop Off bus as a means of seeing the sights. It was brilliant! The drivers were friendly and helpful. They advised us to sit up stairs and, as they knew we struggled with walking, waited patiently whilst we slowly plodded up the stairs. The stairs were steep, but had handrails on both sides so were manageable for us. On the bus, we were given free headphones which plugged into a port beside our seat. This allowed us to listen to an audible tour guide whilst on the trip. As we weren't sure where we wanted to go, we initially stayed on the bus for a full circuit of the route, which took us about an hour. The views were great and the tour guide feature was excellent, informative and humorous. On our second lap of the route, we got off at Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage. Again the driver was friendly, patient and helpful (he even directed us to Tesco Express when we made our final departure🤣). Overall, the buses are clean and very regular, and the staff brilliant. It's definitely a perfect way to see the sights😁x

Wonderful experience.

Visit to historical buildings were the highlight of our stay in Stratford. The bus drivers were very friendly and helpful making our trips informative and enjoyable.

Recommend tour

If there’s a City Sightseeing tour available in a place where I’m visiting I always try to book a tour with them. Great bus tour taking you around the key sites in Stratford upon Avon. We used it to get to Anne Hathaway’s house as well which is a bit of a distance outside the city centre.

Fun, useful and exhilarating

Never bothered with these before but this was worth it. Only there for a day. Tour gave us the lay of the land, useful info and was fun. Two of the attractions were a fsir way from town so this was a fun way to get there too. Top deck is a must for seeing it all.

Bus trip around Stratford upon Avon

On a day trip to Stratford upon Avon i went on the open top bus but only did the round trip of one hour and also sat downstairs but pleased with the tour

Poor Experience

Dreadful experience! After heavy rain only the downstairs of the bus was available. The roof leaked dirty water onto our clothes. Less than half the audio points were working. The bus itself dirty inside. The few stops in the town would have been better reached on foot. The 2 stops out of town, were such a long way, only 1 was open. Very uncomfortable journey out of town and back. Very poor audio commentary not quite in sync with where we were and great lengths of music. Absolutely not worth the money!

Very bad experience!

We started the trip with an extremely rude driver — his behavior toward us was so bad that other passengers complained as well . Our crime? Not first showing him the booking number/code—-confused it with the first number sent. Told us to get off the bus and worse from there. Then when we got out at the farthest stop, we were never picked up. Stranded until nice people offered us a ride to the town center. Never again!!!

Exactly as Advertised

What’s to say? It was exactly as advertised. However, if you are centrally located in Stratford-upon-Avon, most of the local sights and activities are easily within walking distance (aside from Anne Hathaway’s Cottage). We have done several hop-on, hop-off tours in bigger cities, but I’m not sure it’s necessary in a small town like Stratford.

Waste of money! Avoid

Not worth the money paid! It was raining and we sat upstairs undercover at the front but it was leaking from the roof onto the seats and passengers. Both sides of the bus on the front seats, the top headphone sockets weren’t working. This meant having to share one set of headphones missing most of the audio! We did move downstairs but the roof was also leaking there too!! The audio is mainly music and there’s not much to it anyway. We got off at Anne Hathaways House and we we told by the driver the bus comes in intervals of half an hour… we waited for 50 minutes, no apology from the driver when asked just the other bus had broken down? I don’t believe there was another bus! I have tried to call the company on the number provided and it isn’t working. I also tried to call the main office and no answer or ability to leave a message. I wouldn’t recommend this tour.

Great tour of the Town/City.

Very much enjoyed our bus tour around the town, very good on-board audio commentary and we hopped off at Anne Hathaways cottage and took some lovely photos. Would recommend this tour to everyone .

Hop on and off tour

Best way to get out to Anne Hathaway’s cottage which is 3 miles out of town. Lovely drive back through the countryside past the homes/farms of Shakespeare’s parents.

Definitely Do

Good price compared to some of the other cities these buses run to. Buses are regular and have a good set of information onboard. Well worth the experience.

Very handy for the outlying Shakespeare sites . .

We used the bus to get around both the town center & outlying areas to immerse ourselves in Shakespeare's world. And it saved us a lot of steps . . . because this is 'horse country'. The driver was very nice, the simple route matched the audio tape well, & we got to stay out of the famous English rain, so it was well worth the $$. There's confusion about where to pick up the bus to start the tour (Google!) but really it's literally between the Visitor Center building and the Pen & Parchment Pub NEAR the Bridge Foot. BTW, the folks in the Visitor Center were nice as well, while we waited for the bus and looked over all those brochures. We used the hop-on hop-off feature several times over the 24 clock hrs that our tickets allowed. An easy recommendation.

Stratford on Avon bus tour

We took this tour to see as much of Stratford on Avon as we could in the short time we were here and was not disappointed, the commentary via plug in headphones was not only very interesting, but was also informative and amusing at times. Our driver was excellent, she navigated the small roads of Stratford with ease and warned us passengers upstairs of low branches and when she was going to speed up for those wearing hats as it did get quite windy at times and to keep hold of our tickets. The hop on hop off element meant you could stop off at attractions on route and return at a later time with announcements as to which attractions were available at each stop. This tour is disabled friendly, my husband uses a rollator which could be stored easily on board, there is also room for a wheelchair or pram. This is a great family attraction and I would definitely recommend it.

Disappointed!

A little disappointed with this tour. It's only beneficial to you if you want to visit the sites out of the town of which there were two and one of those is closed for 2023. All the other points of interest are within a short walk of the town/river. Over-priced for what it is!

Great Hop On Hop off

This was a very informative hop on hop off tour. The bus driver was kind and helpful. The narrative was so much better than the one we did in London recently.

Nice ride, but shame about the driver

This would have been a nicer review had it not been for the extremely rude bus driver representing the sightseeing company. Our tickets had been pre-booked for our multi-generational family. When we got to the bus, the doors were open and there was no driver to be seen, but people were already seated on the bus so we decided to take our seats upstairs and wait. We later discovered that the bus driver was upstairs talking to someone. The children (age range 6-14) ran ahead from the rest of the family (age range 40-70). When I caught up with them, I discovered them being reprimanded by a hostile woman, telling them they “hadn’t got a ticket”, that “you can’t just get on a bus” and to “get back downstairs”. I calmly explained that the children were with us, and that we had indeed got tickets. She then proceeded to repeat the same words to me, and insisted again that we go downstairs to get tickets. When I repeated we had got tickets, she said obnoxiously that we had to go downstairs to get earphones. She seemed to take umbrage when my husband said he didn’t want earphones as he wanted to just relax and enjoy the ride. So, rather than apologise for being rude to my children and then calm herself down, she continued to tell us all, including my elderly parents, to “get back downstairs”. I asked her who she was and that I didn’t like her attitude, to which she replied that she was the driver and if I didn’t like it, then we could get on another bus! Hardly first-class customer service. What annoyed me the most was how she spoke to my children, especially my older girls. Why couldn’t she have asked if we already had tickets, rather than presuming otherwise? Also, if she didn’t want people to get on the bus, then I would suggest that she closes the doors and maybe pop a little sign in the window that says “Please wait to be seated”. That would have saved a lot of trouble. Well, that an a complete alteration of her attitude.

Fantastic open top bus tour

Had the pleasure of taking one of the tour buses around Stratford upon Avon today and it was wonderful, with the beautiful weather the open top bus was a fantastic bonus the views around the tour route are beautiful. Our tour guide Glynda was fantastic she was lovely and friendly from the start and her wealth of knowledge about the area and its history was nothing short of great. Our driver was very friendly and polite and provided a very smooth ride. If you get the chance I highly recommend you take one of these tours. No matter your age it’s an enjoyable day out for family and friends.

Excellent round trip with commentary.

We did not have the time to “hop on - hop off”, but for the price, and the recorded commentary (with anecdotes) the round tour represented good value for money - and way to spend a relaxing hour.
