Exceptional tour with a terrific knowledgeable and fun guide. This was our second tour with this company. It's fair to say Patrick had a lot to live up to after being to Eagle's Nest and 'The Where Eagles Dare Castle' of Werfen the previous day. He did not disappoint. Patrick knew all of the best spots and found locations off the normal tourist paths to help explain the culture and also find some truly stunning views. Highly, highly recommend this company. True family business that makes you feel like part of the family for the day. Exceptional!

A Perfect & Personalized Day!

I have always wanted to go to Hallstatt so I found this private tour to pick up our family of 4 from the hotel, give us history of Salzburg, and take us to this lovely lake town. What I did not know was how outstanding and beautiful the day would be! Patrick was THE BEST tour guide - picking us up in his wonderful, roomy and clean car, showing us the back roads, with charming small villages along the way, and showing us places that only someone who grew up in the area would know. And Hallstatt was even prettier than I envisioned! We had an amazing meal where Patrick recommended and had enough time to stroll the area, see the beautiful churches and sit and look out at the gorgeous, peaceful lake and mountains. We hope to find Patrick again when we are back in the are for another perfect, personalized day!

Excellent trip and lovely guide

We had a fantastic time in Salzburg!! The trip to Hallstatt and Salzburg was extra scenic and will be cherished by us. We had taken a private tour. ManFred our guide was very knowledgeable. He went out of way to make us feel comfortable. Loved this trip!!

Guide was a driver, not a guide

The guide, while enthusiastic about the region, did not provide much description of the history nor details of the places visited. He brought us to some interesting sights and some personal places. In Hallstatt he left us for 2 hours with no more introduction than pointing out the church, a restaurant and the way into town. Not a guide, more of a driver. For $800 I expected more.

Tour and location were wonderful. The guide and driver were even better. Friendly, very bright and great senses of humor. They are knowledgeable, and they made us feel comfortable and welcome.

Manfred with MCM and his lake district and Hallstatt tour was amazing!

Manfred picked us up at our hotel promptly at 10 AM. Our family of four with two teenagers ages 16 and 18 had a great time getting to know Manfred. He is a wealth of knowledge and loves to travel. He took us to the tops of mountains and to several lakes and lakeside villages, and then finally to Lake Hallstatt. We explored Lake Hallstatt on our own for a little over three hours, and had a nice lunch by the lake. We stopped in another village to get some fresh spring water from the spring on the way home. I would highly recommend using MCM for your tour guide as Manfred runs a great tour guide service!

A geat day out - not to be missed!

Having had a very disappointing guide on a previous trip, we were delighted to meet Manfred as our guide on this tour - what a difference! He was chatty, interesting, informative and helpful. We set off from our hotel in Salzburg and he pointed out several points of interest as we left the city. As it had snowed a couple of days earlier, he drove us up the mountain Gaisberg so that we could see and photograph the considerable amount of snow and took us to a traditional and cosy cafe in the mountain where we stopped for coffee. En route to Halstatt we stopped at a beautiful little village called Ebenau and then a further stop at Fuschl am See to photograph the lake and castle. Then onto St Gilgen to an off the beaten track place above the lake and town to take photos. (We were going on the Sound of Music Tour the following day which also included views of St Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang but Manfred took us to different vantage points so that we didn't duplicate). Then a drive through Bad Ischl and on to Halstatt which is the most picturesque location with views of the lake and mountains and the pretty houses. We visited the Charnel House (which unfortunately was closed) and Manfred booked us in for lunch at a hotel with lakeside views and we had a lovely stroll around the village on our own before meeting up with him again later. On our drive back to Salzburg, Manfred continued to offer interesting insights into the area and life in Austria in general and answered our many questions. A great day out to a stunning location and we learned a lot too! Highly recommended.

One of the best day tours we've ever had!

Manfred was one of the best guides we've ever had - very knowledgeable, very entertaining, and he customized our tour on the fly as the weather changed. We did a day trip to Halstatt from Salzburg with various stops along the way. We had a lot of snow in the morning, but worked around it well, having a wonderful day and a grand finale of clear skies with fresh snow covering everything and views of Salzburg from a nearby mountain (which included a cozy cabin with warm alcoholic drinks) - one of the most memorable days of our many travels!

Great Tour With Top Service

My husband and I had a wonderful day visiting Hallstatt and Eagle’s Nest with the assistance of our guide Manfred and our driver Hubert. Both gentlemen were excellent and attended to our needs as well as being knowledgeable and enthusiastic about showing us these sights. Manfred arranged a perfect table for us for lunch right along the lake in Hallstatt which could not have been any better. He also made sure we were able to visit Eagle’s Nest most efficiently, avoiding delays and long waits for buses or elevators. He also made sure we saw the more obscure ruins of Hitler’s security zone located below Eagle’s Nest where history truly took place. Hubert was an excellent driver and made it all very easy. I will definitely use them again for any travel in this part of Europe.

Outstanding Day Trip!

Our family of four adults traveled from Salzburg to Hallstatt on a customized 8-hour tour with Parick as our guide. It was a wonderful adventure from start to finish! Patrick immediately catered to our interests and provided us with an outstanding day. We made several interesting stops on our way to Hallstatt and back. While at Hallstatt, we took the tour of the salt mine, enjoyed views from the sky walk, visited the Catholic Church and the charnel (bone) house. Time was allowed to take a pleasurable walk through the town while sampling some local refreshments. The beauty, charm and history of this region was fascinating! Our guide, Patrick, was also a treasure! We highly recommend this tour!

Amazing Day Trip

We booked the private tour as a group of four. We were meet by the engaging and friendly Patrick. He showed us some beautiful locations en route to Hallstatt. He was informative and interesting. His English was excellent. The tour surpassed our expectations and Compliments to Patrick for taking the day to the next level. Only advise is check what time the skywalk closes on your planned visitation day as we got side tracked in and around the beautiful town of Hallstatt. Highly recommend booking this trip.

A Fabulous Day

After taking a while to decide what to do with my 70 something mum while we visited Salzburg I decided to book the Private Lakes and Mountains tour. We had the best day, our guide Patrick was so informative, friendly and fun. We saw some amazing scenery and locations and thoroughly enjoyed our day. I’d highly recommend this tour.

Easier way to visit the lake district in one day

We were 6 person in the group booked a 8 person group van as there is no option available for 6. Patrick is a enthusiastic and cheerful guide cum driver who guided us to the best view points. First we visited Lake Fuschl see. This is the most beautiful lake we saw that day. The last stop was Hallstatt. This is the most popular lake. We roamed there for 3 hours before returning back to the Salzburg. One day is definitely not enough to see the lakes but if you have short stay and don't want to miss the lake district, this is the perfect plan.

Wonderful tour!

This was a wonderful tour. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and showed us beautiful places that we could not have seen on our own. The tour was a highlight of our visit to Austria.

Great Day!

Wow what a great day this was! Manfred our tour guide was terrific he knew all the great spots to stop for pictures on our way to Hallstatt and then gave us great tips for sightseeing in Hallstatt which helped us avoid the crowds and not feel too rushed. Also when he heard our tour with another company to The Eagles Nest was cancelled for the next day he rearranged his schedule to take us on a tour of The Rossfeld scenic road in Bavaria with awesome views of the Alps and The Eagles Nest. And if that wasn't enough he made arrangements for lunch in Berchtesgaden at a rooftop restaurant with beautiful views of the Alps and town. These two days with Manfred were the highlight of our vacation! Greg

Salzburg was charming and fun, but the tour of the lakes and mountains put the brief trip "Over the Top" in terms of memories, enjoyment, opinion. The lake district is on par with Lake Como

He even made our lunch reservation for us after asking us if we had lunch plans. He took us to some off-the-beaten path places that were some of the most beautiful I've ever seen! He also picked out a great, out of the way, restaurant for lunch. He worked hard at finding an excellent spot for me to take a picture of Hallstatt. It was definitely a pleasurable day and a fantastic tour.</p>
