Hallstatt Half-Day Tour from Salzburg

Outstanding

This was the perfect half-day tour from Salzburg. We stayed right next to the Salzburg HBF train station. It was an easy walk to the meeting point which was about a 15min walk. When we got there it was an easy check in process. The guide was very informative and the whole ride there and back was very pleasant. He was very clear on the instructions/plan for the day. When we got to Hallstatt we had plenty of time to walk around and eat. Thank you so much for this great experience! I’m so glad I booked this tour to see Hallstatt.

Great trip

The tour was well organized with a good English speaking guide. The journey was comfortable and very picturesque. I would recommend spending a few days in the lake region to relax and enjoy nature. Highly recommended the trip when in Vienna or Salzburg.

The perfect village.

A beautiful trip. The town is amazing. Guide was clear and educational. The most gorgeous private homes that I can imagine in an absolutely perfect location.

very less time only 2 hours to see Hallstatt is not enough. Better to have a full day tour withatleast 4 hours of time

Hallstatt Half-Day Tour

This trip is well worth the money. The bus is modern with an upper deck which is great for viewing the scenery. Peter is an excellent guide who narrates the whole trip in English. The scenery is lovely and the view of the mountains and lakes memorable. Hallstatt is very picturesque but full of tourists - so much so that the locals have fled the area.

Excellent tour to the most picturesque village in Europe.

Great tour choice for Hallstatt, a very comfortable scenic ride and a well planned tour. 2.30 hours are sufficient to roam around all the picture perfect spots within Hallstatt village. Our experienced guide Peter was very informative during the bus ride (has a good sense of humour). The driver was fantastic, smooth maneuvering through some narrow steep lanes. Request you to check the weather forecast for the day you book the tour for. We had perfect weather since I had checked the forecast.

Hallstatt is amazing.

My wife and I had a great experience and the guide and driver were great. Hallstatt could not have been more beautiful as well. Going in morning the crowds were much better so recommend the 8:15 option

Picturesque lakeside town

Hallstatt is often regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in Austria, and a trip is a must. The bus leaves on time and our guide is knowledgeable and gives detailed explanation about the area. The village is surrounded by towering mountains, creating a stunning scenery for photography. We love this s half day tour.

Hallstatt is a wonderful place.

Beautiful location and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area. We got there early and was able to walk through the town and have a snack at the edge of the lake.

Highly enjoyable tour, very organised and professional, would highly recommend. Beautiful scenery, and plenty of interesting facts.

Disappointed

Spent more time travelling than at the actual location. We were told quite a lot about the don’ts than the do’s when we get there. Don’t be late or they leave you there. Long queues at Sky walk so it really cuts down your time to do much more. Local prices are ridiculous 2 bottles of water small tub of ice cream €10. Attitude of one cafe shop at the end of the village was insulting. The two girls serving did more talking than serving and as our time was short it didn’t help. The threat of being left to make your own way back to Salzburg if you’re late back to the bus spoils the trip. There really isn’t much more than the funicular to the sky walk and scenery. Very over priced tour with not much to offer a long way to go for a coffee to be ignored by staff. Disappointed

Good trip

Trip went smooth . The guide was funny. The town was beautiful with cute old houses. The view from the skywalk was breathtakingly beautiful.

Tour guide was great, but the town of Halstatt itself isn’t much to see

Our tour guide was very informative and well spoken. She gave lots of historical facts and little interesting details on the drive to and from Halstatt. The town and lake itself were not all that impressive in my opinion, and there are plenty of neat lakes and lake towns scattered across the region that you could visit. It was okay but certainly a place I would skip if planning a trip again.

Wow wow wow! Can't recommend this enough. Our bus guide (Sandra maybe?) was lovely. Gave a wonderful history of Austria and Hallstatt on the way there, and gave really nice succinct instructions and recommendations for when we arrived. Bus was clean and cool. We went during the beginning of tourist season in early May, so we lucked out with fewer crowds and the weather was gorgeous. We had enough time to do the overlook and walk around the town. Perfect amount of time to soak up the charming little town.

Hallstatt tour - great way to see the lakes and mountain region

This tour is well worth the money for the information , scenary and ease if you do not have a car available You go a lovely town in the mountains and have the opportunity to do the sky walk or a boat ride Both these are at your cost The tour guide Mitch was engaging and fun , he was actually our tour guide for the Sound of Music tour the previous day

Amazing place and a great tour guide!

The tour was fantastic. Salzburg is a breathtakingly beautiful place and we were able to enjoy it to the fullest while simultaneously learning everything thanks to our tour guide Leopold! He was very enthusiastic and informative. He made our tour super fun with his knowledge and humour!

Quaint hallstatt

Thoroughly enjoyed the quaint little town of Hallstatt. Loved the scenery, the shops, and the restaurants. Scheduled time in the town was perfect.

The Town of Hallstatt. Beautiful and picturesque. Lovely drive to the town. Plenty to see and do. You will not be disappointed.

Great experience. The guide gave interesting information on the region and good directions for visiting Hallstatt. Nice to take a different road on the way back. It gives a chance to see different scenery.

Great trip!

I was pleasantly surprised at how pretty the little town of Halstatt was. The setting was amazing nestled in the high Alps all around snowcapped and beautiful. The lake was peaceful. Fortunately, the crowds were not bad. Our tour bus was clean, comfortable, and prompt. The tour guide spoke and informed us of many things, but did not talk too much it was a very nice balance.

Fabulous day in Hallstatt

Loved the town of Hallstatt the gorgeous setting on the lake and the beautiful architecture. The highlight however was the view from the skywalk absolutely amazing and we even got a bit of snow falling.

Beautiful town

A good tour for what it is. The guide provides you some background on the bus ride there and back, but once you are in Hallstatt you are on your own to tour about. Would recommend paying for the lift up to the skywalk. Truly a beautiful place to visit.

Convenient way to visit Halstatt

If you don't have a lot of time, this is a convenient way to visit Halstatt. The bus was clean. It left and returned in time. We were a bit disappointed with the guide. He had interesting stories and anecdotes while travelling, but did not have a lot of helpful/clear instructions once we got to Halstatt about what to see, where to eat, restrooms, etc.

Hallstatt - Monday 15th April

Went on this trip after huge recommendations. Me & my mum just loved every second. Our guide was very personable and funny and Hallstatt itself is absolutely beautiful. Even the drive there is stunning and went by very quickly. Thoroughly enjoyed and wish I could go back.

A must when staying in Salzburg! 🏔️

A truly magical and worthwhile experience. The views were absolutely breathtaking and the village of Hallstatt is quaint and gorgeous. Big shout out to the lovely Leopold who was our tour guide. I was lucky enough to travel in his mini van rather than the big coach - purely out of chance! Leopold was informative, knowledgable and hilarious. His passion and love for his country shone through! 🇦🇹 he even took us out of the beaten track to the glacier in the Alps which was a beautiful surprise! If you’re thinking of booking….you will not regret!

Its a nice trip but runs little quick to enjoy , wish it is a bit longer to enjoy most of the places and enjoy it the right way

Excellent Tour

An absolutely excellent tour to a very beautiful location. Our driver was great and explained some of the historical aspects of the region. We had adequate time to explore on our own and take some great pictures. I highly recommend this tour!

Breathtaking scenery

A very worthwhile visit. Scenery amazing. Unfortunately the sky walk was closed due to high winds but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment of this wonderful location.

Hallstatt- wrong tour guide!!

The drive was good in a comfortable two decker bus. Hallstatt is beautiful and the panorama with the journey. However, the tour guide -Richard -was utterly poor. We heard about football and celebrities throughout the entire journey. Nothing cultural about Salzburg or Hallstatt (Mozart could have been mentored). It was the worst tour guide I have come across. What a shame!

Lovely trip - highlight of holiday

Pick up location was easy to find. Then we just had to cross the road and wait for the bus. A lovely drive out to Hallstatt with 1 x 5 min stop to take photos. Arrived into central of Hallstatt went with guide Max to get tickets up to the skywalk. Glad we spent extra to do this. 21 euros each. Afterwards walked around the town and had a lovely pastry.

Had a lovely half day trip to Hallstatt. Max our tour guide was very professional and informative to enable us to make the most of our time in Hallstatt.

A well organized tour to a picture perfect town

The half day tour to the picture perfect town of Hallstat was well organized. Our guide also added a few stops along the way at picturesque places and provided interesting details about the history and culture of the region. Overall a nice experience.

Visually stunning. Definitely worth the cost.

I would highly recommend this trip. Initially I was a little put off by the price, but I’m so glad we did it. The excursion was well organised. Max was our guide and very approachable, knowledgeable and welcoming. The coach journeys each way are visually stunning and came with interesting and fun facts. Hallstatt itself is breathtaking, if a little busy with tourists, but it’s easy to see why people flock there for the natural beauty. We were very lucky with the weather. I would advise checking the forecast and choosing a day with good weather. We went up to the Skywalk (approx €21 per adult) and it was simply incredible. After that, there was time for a coffee and strudel, a walk along the front of the lake, and browsing some souvenir shops before heading back. Thank you Panorama tours!

Fantastic tour

It was a very well organised tour. We trevelled in a small group of 6. We had a fantastic tour guide Shiva who was a very knowledgeble and with great sense of humour. He gave us lots of historical and cultural information and was more than happy to answer all our questions. It was a fantastic tour!

Amazing and astonished half day bus excursion Salzburg - Hallstatt

The bus tour was excellent, with perfect driver and tour guide. We were very lucky with the weather and managed to have a short trip in the leak and took fantastic pictured. The views were like a fairytale place and the route also from Salzburg to Hallstatt.

Very good experience and guide. I suggest he should have the schedule of the boat trips in Hallstatt, so the passengers can make a better visit and save Time

Great tour

Great tour, gave useful information on the way, stopped for a nice photo op and had plenty of time to explore Hallstatt, which was amazing!

Good even in off season and in the rain

Even though it was March and a cloudy rainy day, we still enjoyed our drive and visit to Hallstatt. The driver and tour guide Max was cheerful and full of good information. You have approximately two hours in the small town which is just enough time to walk most of it and tour the two churches. Even though they were small, we enjoyed seeing and feeling the atmosphere of the town. We also took time to have some strudel in a sit down restaurant and bought a pretzel from a street vendor. Everyone on the tour was punctual and we left in time for the return trip. I would recommend this company and this tour.

Beautiful Tour

The stunning views, the calmness of the lake. It was just beautiful. Don't forget to take plenty of change for the toilets!!! Lol

The drive was beautiful...

The drive was beautiful and Hallstatt was the cutest town we’ve ever seen! However, we did not get our full 2.5 hours of exploration. Usually this is due to traffic, but there was no traffic on our trip. The tour was also 5 hours rather than 5 hours and 30 minutes which led me to believe we could’ve had more time to explore Hallstatt.

Great tour, worth paying for to avoid the hassle of public transport!

Our guide Alenka was wonderful! She gave really interesting commentary on the drive to Hallstatt about the towns / lakes we were passing by from history up until today. She also gave us great recommendations for what to do while in Hallstatt and on our return to Salzburg. Thank you Alenka! The tour was also much easier than getting public transport and 2.5h in Hallstatt was more than enough time.

Not worth it

The tour guide was fine, the tour logistics were fine, the destination was just okay. This is a perfect example of over-tourism with the town being overrun by tourists. I'm sure it was a charming small town years ago as it's surrounded by beautiful scenery, but the town has sadly lost its character. Absolutely not worth the time spent to make the trip, would much rather have spent that time in Salzburg

Best tour guide!

Our tour guide, Arnie was a delight! He gave in depth information about everything we drove past in a very fun and entertaining way! Driving was also very smooth and at a good pace. He was humorous and I was amazed by his knowledge of everything he mentioned! A very enthusiastic tour guide, one of the best I’ve ever encountered. I would highly recommend this tour to beautiful Hallstatt! The duration of the tour was sufficient to have a glimpse of the beautiful town, without having to spend too much time hanging around. Such an affordable price as well. Kudos to Arnie for such a pleasant experience!! 10/10!!
