Lovely day in Prague with a brilliant historian

I spent a lovely day in Prague with Gunther, a brilliant historian who brings a wealth of knowledge and insight into one of the most interesting and complex cities in all of Europe. I learned so much about the history, politics, architecture, culture of Prague and its inhabitants. Gunther knows the city backwards and forwards, and was able to craft a highly enjoyable walking experience that told the city's story in a coherent and accessible fashion. Most importantly, Gunther skillfully designed a route thay avoided the city's sizeable crowds - which is no easy feat. The tour focused on early history from 12 to 18th century whereas I am more interested in 1900’s onwards Gunther is a gentleman and we spent a lovely day together, it was just not quite tailored towards my interests.

Best Tour of Prague

Where to begin? Guenther is the most well-informed host you could wish to encounter. He's approachable, enthusiastic and is genuinely interested in his guests getting the most out of their visit. He knows just about everything you could want to learn about this fascinating city from architecture to street markets and social history to musical entertainment. What's more, Guenther leads guided walks based on different themes as noted in his guidebook, sent to AirBnb guests, 'Funtastic Prague'. We had him as a personal guide for a whole day and it was a delight - we asked him to choose a theme. We looked at things we didn't know were there, visit places we'd never heard of and dined at a place we may not have been brave enough to try without his guidance. We can't recommend one of these tours enough As a linguist Guenther covers German, French, Italian, a bit of Arabic and his English is better than mine...and I'm English.

Best Tours of Prague — Hand's Down, No Question.

After three days in Prague, checking off all the highlights, there didn't seem to be much to enjoy in Prague. Then I found Guenther-Karl! We actually do two day tours because I could have done 30 with him — he is that good. He took me to Groebe Park, the former garden and villa of a railway millionaire from the 19th century with its grotto, waterfall, and pond. We saw the Belle Epoque buildings of Prague 2 and Le Palais hotel, the former meat factory where they produced Prague Ham. We passed Europe's 1st maternity clinic that looks like an old English castle, and then headed to Vyšehrad, Prague's 2nd castle hill with its great views to all directions, and its cemetery with the graves of famous Czechs including Smetana and Dvořák. Ahen rode back to the city to see its oldest part, its city hall and the chapel where Jan Hus famously preached, the first reformer 100 years before Luther. But that's the itinerary — what it doesn't capture are all the questions I fired at him about everything from history to culture to customs to religion... and he untangled Prague's history for me in a way no book or tour or castle ever could. Prague can be a tough city for a toothy American because its history has meant generations of people are rightfully wary of outsiders — but Guenther helped me fall in love with the Grande Dame and I've missed her ever since.

Guenther has a deep, rich knowledge of the history of Prague (as well as Europe), and his enthusiasm added to the all-day experience. A very special experience - a city walk with deep historical background

We spent several days in Guenther's Guesthouse in Prague. Guenther provided us with many valuable informations for our own sight-seeing. But the best part of the visit was one day on a city walk with Guenther. He chose a special route weaving across the city, crossing the main sights, but also many special places apart from the crowd. He shared his deep historical knowledge with us. We were enriched with many precious informations about Prague's History in the context of european history and the contemporaray situation. Marvelous and personal tour of Prague

It's hard now to remember one favorite part of our tour, except having the chance to spend the day with Guenther and having the *best* tour of any city we've ever experienced! Really: Guenther knows so much and the perspective he invites you to experience is unique. When you pay for a tour, you want something other than the 'live' version of what you'd get if you guided yourself using a book. Guenther *is* that: you'll see a Prague you never would otherwise and in the *best* company. Do it! This was a while ago (early than the dates provided in the drop down below), but Guenther is a wonderful host and a wonderful guide!

Exzellente Stadführung - Geschichte, Kunst, Kultur und Spass

Unsere Tour mit Günther Krumpak begann mit dem Weg nach Vysehrad, Prags 2. Burgberg. Vorbei am Hotel Le Palais, der ehemaligen Fabrik des berühmten Schinken, einer Geburtsklinik - die aussieht wie ein altes englisches Schloss bis wir an unser erstes Etappenziel in Vysehrad angekommen sind. Zu all diesen Gebäuden und Stätten gab us Günther umfangreiche historische Daten und Fakten wie auch Geschichten aus dem damaligen Alltag. Beeindruckend! Wir kamen aus dem ersten Staunen gar nicht raus, da es bereits weiterging. Am Vysehrad haben wir uns den stattfindenden Mittelalterlichen Markt angesehen, sind in das mittelalterliche Flair eingetaucht und dazu noch eine wunderbaren Ostepok, den slowakischen Grillkäse, genossen. Günther hat meiner Frau somit eine wunderschöne Kindheitserinnerung und Erinnerung an ihren Grossvater beschert. Nach diesem schönen Erlebnis sind wir dann weiter zum dortigen Friedhof, wo die berühmten Tschechen, wie Smetana, Dvorak etc, begraben sind. Es ist nicht seltsam de Friedhof zu besuchen, es ist teil unserer Kultur und auch dazu wußte Günther sehr viel zu erzählen. Günthers Wissen zur Geschichte Prags, Kultur und Lebensweisen von anno dazumal und jetzt ist sehr beeindruckend. Nicht nur das Wissen auch die Art zu erzählen, mit Witz und Humor sowie mit entsprechendem Feingefühl zu diverse Themen. Günther ist ein wahres lebendes Lexikon! Neben dem vielen Informativem habe wir auch viel gelacht, Spass gehabt und über unterschiedlichsten Themen geplaudert. Es war ein wunderschöner Tag mit einer exzellenten Führung. Wir haben bereits viele Stadtführungen - Themenspezifische - gemacht doch diese mit Günther Krumpak war eindeutig die Beste. Mehr als professionell, mit Witz, Spass und Humor eingepackt und eine Unmenge an Wissen und Informationen, wohldosiert weitergegeben. Wir können Günther Krumpak nur wärmstens erzählen, wenn man ein unvergessliches Prag Erlebnis haben möchte - fernab vom normalen Tourismus zum Exquisitem. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis hinkt, denn die Leistung ist bei weitem mehr wert als der Preis, der zu zahlen ist. Höchste Qualität zum geringe Preis, gepaart mit viel Charme. Fundiete und lebhafte Stadtführung in Prag

Wir unternahmen mit Herrn Krumpak eine spezielle Stadtführung in Prag, die durch die Vereinigung der Österreicher in Tschechien (VÖT) organisiert wurde. Es war ein tolles Erlebnis und für uns ein Vergnügen, die fundierte und lebhafte historische Erzählung über die tschechische Geschichte und auch über Einzelheiten, die das Stadtvierteil in Prag betreffen, zu erleben.

Die besonderen Stadtführungen

Wir hatten eine Stadtführung durch Prag für 7 Stunden gebucht. Die Altstadt, die Burg, ..... alles, was so dazu gehört und was wir uns gewünscht haben. Herr Krumpack hat eine sehr informative nicht zu ausführliche Einführung in das Prag von früher und heute gegeben. So haben wir viel Gesehenes und Gehörtes im Verlauf des Tages immer wieder einordnen können. Wir konnten Fragen stellen wozu auch immer. Herr Krumpack wusste Bescheid. Gesehen haben wir viele wunderbare Orte, die wir wahrscheinlich alleine nicht gefunden hätten. Mit den 7 Stunden haben wir das geplante Programm nicht geschafft. Hatten wir zu viel gefragt? Oder sind wir zu langsam gegangen? Auf jeden Fall haben wir zwei Tage später die restlichen Ziele nachgeholt und direkt neue dazu gebucht. So haben wir noch dörfliche und altindustrielle Strukturen kennengelernt. Es gibt noch so viel zu sehen und zu hören. Somit wissen wir schon jetzt, dass wir wiederkommen.

Prager Orte die man so nie finden würde

Wir haben im Juli 2020 eine Halbtagestour mit Günther Krumpak durch Prag gemacht. Günther hat uns einige Vorschläge gemacht, und da wir die Stadt (oberflächlich :-) ) gut kennen, haben wir uns für eine Tour durch historische Dorfkerne im Stadtgefüge entschieden, Es war unglaublich, sehr nahe der alten City immer wieder von einer Hauptverkehrsachse durch einen verwilderten Pfad zu gehen und mitten in einem bewohnten Dorfkern zu stehen, um wenige Meter weiter die nächste Verkehrsachse zu erreichen. Die Tour wurde begleitet von einem sehr kompetenten und lebendig vorgetragenen historischen Abriss, der die Entwicklung von der Römerzeit bis zum heutigen Tschechien skizzierte und viel Verständnis für die Geschichte der Stadt Prag und das tschechische Selbstbewusstsein bei uns entwickelte. Die besuchten Orte sind wirklich Geheimtipps, die man in keinem Reiseführer findet und die auch kein anderer Veranstalter so anbieten wird. Wir freuen uns, beim nächsten Besuch eine andere Führung mit Günther zu machen.

Wir haben mit der geführten Tour einen sehr spannenden Tag in Prag verbracht. Viele Einblicke in große und kleine historische Ereignisse, in Kultur und Alltagsleben. Alle Altersgruppen (Kind über Teenager zu Erwachsene) waren sehr zufrieden.
