Sidetrip from Budapest to Prague

Our June 4 Sidetrip from Budapest to Prague exceeded our expectations.My wife and I were expecting to be traveling with 3 others, but one of the other passengers dropped out so it was only 2 couples. Our driver arrived on time, in a comfortable van and our trip began. We had a mid morning stop in Gyor where we did a walking tour and a comfort station stop, nice small Hungarian town. Next stop was Bratislava where we did a walking tour and enjoyed lunch with local cuisine. The next scheduled stop was Lednice Palace, but we elected to skip that stop and proceed on to Prague. The scenery along the was was beautiful and traffic was not stressful, and our guide was knowledgeable, courteous and informative. We highly recommend Sidetrip.

Fantastic experience and best way to travel to another city

This was absolute best way to spend travel day. We were able to stop at 3 great locations with a knowledgeable drive/tour guide It was fantastic- so happy we chose this way to get to our next city

Unexpected, better than anticipated, highly recommended

Levente was very personable, informative & funny at times. Highly recommended. We considered rail, then airplane, but found this and took a chance. Glad we did.

Exceeded our expectations

Four of us booked our tour from Australia. We travelled from Budapest to Prague. We chose "Sidetrips" over the time wasting alternatives of train and airline travel The idea of a "hotel pickup and drop off" with eight hours of driving through the country side of Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic with three city stops along the way sounded like a brilliant day and, it was. It far exceeded our expectations. Our driver Jirka (a Czech musican with his own band) was brilliant. Jirka was highly knowledgeable in the history and geography of the regions we travelled trough. We had three stops along the way at Gyor, Bratislava and Lednice Palace and when walking us around his passion and enthusiasm for what he does really came through to us. Jirka drove a relatively new van which was spotlessl clean and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to recommend Sidetrip as a transport option and, with driver/guide as like minded as Jirka it will be an experience that you wont forget.

Well travelled

Thanks to our driver/guide Levi, our trip from Budapest to Prague (the above drop down box wouldn't provide that option) was enjoyable and interesting. He was knowledgeable and friendly, with the scheduled stops at Gyor, Bratislava and Lednice Palace, being comfortably spaced and offering something different at each. While it is a long drive the combination of the stops and what is effectively, a personal service, works well. A good way to travel to see something outside the major cities.

Underwhelming ride from Prague to Budapest

First off it wasn't at all what we imagined when we booked. For the steep price we paid what we got was a slightly rundown 12 seater van (not a bus by any stretch of imagination). It was full so I got the back seat and had to negotiate a tight space to get in with an injured knee. Fell down and hurt it the day before. The stops are more just comfort stops not actual sightseeing halts. We only walked around the monuments and just had time for lunch in Bratislava. Only one church in Gyor was accessible to view inside. The driver/guide was a nice friendly lady but that's about all I can say.

Sidetrip is our new favorite way to travel

Prague to Budapest was amazing. Levi (our driver and guide) was super friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about the 3 sites. He also gave really valuable insights and recommendations for local restaurants and places to see. Having the flexibility to shift things around was great. I can’t say enough about this service - SideTrip will always be a new preference on our EU vacations.

Wonderful way to get from point A to B

Excellent experience in every way I would highly recommend Sidetrip. The driver was cautious and a great driver. The shuttle was clean and comfortable. Everything was smooth from booking to pick up drop off. The driver went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our tour and were comfortable.

Sidetrip Tours made our transfer day a fun and educational experience

Our transfer from Prague to Budapest was a pleasure! Our driver/guide Stepan was highly knowledgeable and entertained us with facts and anecdotes in our private van and at each stop. He shared his own enthusiasm for the highlights of each stop and guided us through efficient routes. He let us (4 senior women) set the pace and at our invitation, joined us for lunch at a restaurant that met all of our needs. I highly recommend Sidetrip Tours. We enjoyed the convenience of being picked up at our hotel in Prague and dropped off at our hotel in Budapest - no schlepping our bags or taking cabs! Best Way to Travel From Budapest to Prague

We thoroughly enjoyed our transfer from Budapest to Prague with Zuzana…she was a terrific guide and driver.We made three stops along the way and Zuzana explained details about the sites she took us to visit. She is a Prague native and knows the area well.We had time for a few snacks and a delicious lunch, too.It was a very pleasant experience and a nice change from traveling by train.

Nice way to transfer between European cities

Comfortable and enjoyable ride with a big van. Glad we took this trip so we can see the countryside and even try authentic Slovakian food for lunch which we would never experience if we took the plane or train.Alexandra is very accommodating and professional. Totally recommended tour.

Our guide, Levente, was great! Prompt, friendly, knowledgeable. A careful driver, very safe This was a great way to see some countryside when transferring from Prague to Budapest. We saw interesting things we wouldn't have known about otherwise. Just be prepared for a long day. 😊

Great experience

Alexandra and Levi were most friendly and knowledgeable. They pointed out several points of interest that we would have otherwise missed. We had a private tour so they focused on our wishes suggesting several points along the way. Stopped for potty breaks as needed. Lunch at the suggested restaurant was fantastic and offered authentic local cuisine. A quick stop at a local winery for a tasting and a few bottles to go. They are well versed and customer focused. We would recommend this highly if you’re up for a leisurely day trip from Prague to Budapest.

Best way to travel between Budapest and Prague

We were looking at ways to get from Budapest to Prague- trains are long and there are not a lot of flight options. Thankfully seeing Sidetrip offering a tour along with the transportation was an amazing option for our family. We traveled with our two kids ( 14 & 11 years old) and Stepan was a great guide. He showed us so many interesting locations and taught us things along the way. Even during the drive he felt like an old friend and we were able to learn more about his life in Prague and the differences between our countries. I would definitely recommend Sidetrip! They turned something that would have wasted a day on a train into a delightful experience.

Tour absolutely suggested. Is a good way to visit a new city for trip involving many destinations. Martin was really good, drove safely and show us some gems that are not in the common touristic path.

Great way to enjoy 2 countries all at once

Pleasant journey with Juraj (a.k.a George). Comfortable vehicle, great conversations along the way. Had local lunch menu, including local cola drink (Kofola) which I like ☺️Visiting and strolling Bratislava and Győr with perfect weather, not to mention relaxing under the afternoon sun while tasting gelato (Éden Kapu). Ended the tour by visiting the Catholic Basilica of Győr before heading to Budapest. Thank you George for bringing us to these beautiful places in Czech Republic and Hungary.

Stress-free ride from Prague to Budapest!

Sooo happy we found this Prague to Budapest Transfer Tour! Van was comfortable, we got to see places/sights we could not have seen taking the bus, we made new friends, and Martina was was an awesome guide and excellent driver. HIGHLY recommend this transfer tour!

Fun travel from Budapest to Prague

Filip made our travel unique and fun! We were able to visit Bratislava, and old Hungarian town, castle and had a very great local lunch. He was flexible to our interests and time schedule. It was much more fun and interesting than taking the train - especially since we had limited time in this area. Would highly recommend.

Excellent tour from Prague to Budapest

Took sidetrip tours from Prague to Budapest. Martin was our guide and was fantastic . He was friendly, on time and very accommodating. He was very knowledgeable and interesting. Went out of his way to accommodate us as my husband had trouble walking. I highly recommend him and sidetrip tours. It was an incredible day stopping at Lednice, Bratislava and Gyor.

Sidetrip became the Main Teip

Met with my group and immediately hit it off with the tour guide Aleksandra and the rest of the group. 3 countries in one day is a long drive but it felt so short because of how much fun we were having in the van. We chatted about everything and anything. The van is super comfy and spacious. The sites were phenomenal and in Gyor we visited The Cathedral of the Assumption of our Lady which was breath taking. We finally made it to Budapest and no one wanted to leave. A new tour led to a new family! This tour is a must!

Great Tour

We loved the tour. The van was comfortable and clean, and Sarka was great. We learned a lot, and the twelve-hour tour flew by.

Wonderful Transfer

We thoroughly enjoyed our transfer from Prague to Budapest with our guide, Juraj on 14 Feb'24. He was well informed and showed us the beautiful Lednice Castle and the old town of Bratislava on route. A wonderful road journey to Budapest. Would recommend this one way sight seeing transfer.

Wonderful experience and tour from Budapest to Prague

The tour from Budapest to Prague was very nice. Alexandra took us to so many great places along the way. She was so accommodating and friendly. We really appreciated how well thought the drive to Prague was. I’d definately book this again when I’m in Prague.

Wonderful tour with Alexandra!

Took a sidetrip tour with Alexandra as our local guide from Budapest to Prague, spending some time in Gyor, Bratislava and Lednice Castle along the way. The best part of this tour is the Alex - warm, caring, knowledgeable and just nice to be around. She is also a fantastic driver who takes safety very seriously, making us feel very safe travelling with her. We truly enjoyed our day with her. Some room for improvement for the company would be to maybe skip Lednice Castle in winter as it is closed and there is not much to look at. We thought time spent at Gyor and Bratisalva were enjoyable though it was short., perhaps because those were cities and hence more to explore. Also, we were a group of 8 adults travelling in a van and thought that was a bit of a squeeze even though none of us were overweight. Other than that, it was a wonderful day with Alex and we will choose to do a similar tour in a heartbeat when we are back in this part of Europe.

Stepan proved to be an exceptional guide during our journey from Budapest to Prague. Given that our family of four were the only passengers, he went above and beyond by kindly offering to pick us up and drop us off at our hotels, a gesture that we truly appreciated. When we requested a modification to the itinerary to avoid visiting the castle twice (we had booked a second Sidetrip Tour from Prague to Vienna), he graciously accommodated our request. Along with visiting the enchanting city of Gyor and the majestic Bratislava, Stepan took us to a charming little town called Pelhrimov, where we were able to immerse ourselves in the local way of life and indulge in some tasty treats. Throughout the entire trip, Stepan showcased his extensive knowledge, amiable personality, reliability, and adaptability. Spending the day with him was an absolute pleasure. Martin is a super star...

Martin is a super star driver and guide - we started off with a pick up at the hotel in Prague and headed off to Lednice Palace before having a traditional Czech lunch in Bratislava and walking around the old town. Left Bratislava with fog setting in and arrived in Budapest in the evening, in time for dinner! Martin is knowledgeable, well spoken and extremely accommodating who made our trip interesting and comfortable.

Great alternative to train or solo driving.

Excellent tour guide and worthwhile alternative to train or solo driving. Gyor not the best city to visit in late fall or winter. Overall a great day trip.

Great way to travel from Budapest and Prague, minivan shared comfortably with 7 others. Stefan was a great tour guide, showing us Gyor, Bratislava and Lednice castle, and it snowed.... also had some free time to self explore.. We had spent 3 days in Budapest before the drive to Prague, where we were stayinh for another 3 days. The drive from Budapest to Prague with driver, Martina, was very enjoyable and Martina is an excellent guide and driver. We stopped in Bratislava and the small village of Mikulov where we had a lovely lunch. Highly recommend - much more interesting than a long ride on the train.

Martin, our guide, was personable, knowledgeable, and overall very helpful. It was a total pleasure to travel with him, as we saw places that we would’ve never seen without our sightseeing transfer. Amazing experience!

I am glad to stumble upon Sidetrip when looking at a way to get from Budapest to Prague during our travels. Not only was it easy to book, the whole process was great, communication was clear and stress free. We loaded our luggages at the pick up point and off we went! Marianna, our tour guide was amazing, very understanding, insightful and cheerful. Prior to the trip, I was experiencing bad morning sickness from early pregnancy and she was super, above and beyond attentive to my needs to ensure I have a comfortable time. Don't take the train from Budapest to Prague! This is a wonderful alternative!

I was looking for an affordable alternative to taking an 8 hour train ride from Budapest to Prague and discovered this SideTrip transfer option. Stepan was a wonderful driver and tour guide and this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! He is knowledgable, entertaining, and made our exploration of 3 UNESCO sites educational and memorable. The other two couples were lovely and our experience was top notch! Sign up! Best way to get from Budapest to Prague!

If you're looking for an easy and interesting way to go from Budapest to Prague, this is it! Although we flew from Prague to Budapest, we decided to return to Prague with the Sightseeing Transfer in order to explore more of Hungary and the Czech Republic. The tour also enabled us to discover Bratislava (Slovakia). It was absolutely the right decision! Stepan, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, interesting, and spoke perfect English. Jan, who helped Stepan, was very nice, and had interesting things to add thanks to his personal knowledge of some of the places we visited. The trip was by mini-van, with only a very small group of people, which made our visits to Györ, Bratislava, and Lednice very special, since we could all hear everything that Stepan and Jan were saying as they showed us around. The trip was divided into very manageable "legs" so it never felt as if we were in the van for a very long time. The Sightseeing Transfer allowed us to discover some hidden gems that we would not have discovered otherwise, which we greatly appreciate. We highly recommend traveling this way, and you will not be disappointed if Stepan is your guide!

Great way to get from one country to another. Tour guide Gabriela and her team are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, communicative, on time and even gave us an alternate option stop at a winery that was a highlight for our group. Definitely recommend this transfer tour and would do again for other cities they offer it for.

Great experience

I had an amazing trip with Gabriela. Fantastic communication, and pick up was fast and easy. She was very open to accommodating my preferences, and helped me with a special stop to mail postcards along the way. She knew all of the areas we stopped in, and was a great tour guide in Bratislava in particular. She happily answered all of my random questions about the areas we were in, and shared stories about her life and her family's history as well that made it a fantastic adventure. This trip allowed me to see and enjoy additional parts of the world on my way from Budapest to Prague; I would highly recommend.

Fantastic way to travel from one City to another

Small tour group from Prague to Budapest, had a great trip. Locations stopped at were very pretty and tour guide was really nice and had lots of information. Best travel day ever!

10/10 recommend traveling with Sidetrip Tours. Filip was our guide for a personal transfer day from Prague to Budapest. He tailored our trip exactly to meet our interests, including a stop at a biofarm in Slovakia for lunch with traditional foods and spending extra time in Bratislava to tour some specific sites we requested. He was very knowledgeable and fun. The whole day was definitely a highlight of our Europe trip!

A great way to travel

Our driver Stepan was a very knowledgeable guide for the stops we made along the way.. he also was a great facilitator in that he got the van load of people talking about their travel plans and experiences. This service is not only a fun way to travel and see more stuff, but also a great way to meet fellow travelers.

Great Way to Transfer!

Stepan was a great tour guide from start to finish. We ended up being the only family, so the transfer was private. We travelled with our 3yo and having multiple stops helped break up a long travel day and allowed us to really enjoy the ride. Stepan was kind and interesting to talk to. He was super patient with us having a stroller and gave us great recommendations for coffee/snacks/lunch. He was great with our son and we felt like we had made a friend by the end of the day. Awesome Europe
