A birthday present!

I bought these tickets for my niece's birthday present with her fiance. They said it was wonderful and a great birthday present.

If you pay by card the bond they don’t give it back

They still have to return my bond for the two bikes it’s a shame!! And i did the tour the 16th of February the 10 working days are passed already! I try to contact the operator through email, phone and another email and no one respond! For a company like this is not a good behavior! In the meantime they are still keeping my bond! Of 50$!!

Rottnest by bike

Very organised tour booking, Rottnest island is a must when visiting Perth.. make sure you take your swimmers, sunscreen plenty of water if riding around the island in the hotter months. Riding around the island is very achievable in a day with time for a swim, food and a drink when you get back.

Over rated

The ferry trip was fine / well organised going out but a bit of a mess quayside coming back. No organisation on return quayside for 4 ferries leaving within 1/2 hour of each other . One big queue of passengers and bikes with little instruction from any staff . A complete free for all . Why not have ropes showing lines for each like airports ? Anyway the weather was great and we cycled to the south for the ‘best’ snorkelling. What a let down , little salmon bay was crowded with school kids shouting and screaming . There was not much to see in the water , grey and silver fish but little of any colour . It was the same at all our stops. The beaches are good but very crowded. It was nice to cycle round , a little hilly for some so walking was the solution . The settlement provides shops and food plus plenty of Quokkas scurrying for food. It reminded us of a Center Parcs Village with huts around it to stay in ( not as nice though ) and this central area for all your needs. We were probably expecting too much from the snorkelling experience having been to the Great Barrier Reef, Maldives and Egypt but we enjoyed the day out .

Fabulous day out for everyone :)

This is the best day trip. It’s so organised. You book in advance for your ferry & bikes. Everything is waiting for you when u arrive at Hilary’s. The staff a super nice. The bikes are easy to ride, 7 gears & comfy seats. The ferry is clean and on time. You can do as little or as much as you like on the island. Don’t miss a visit to the pie shop :))). The staff on the island are really friendly and very knowledgeable. And last but not least the Quokkas are adorable. It’s our 4 visit and I look forward to doing it again next year.

Great Transport, Efficient polite+++. Make the bike snorkel combination better!

This was organised and pleasant regarding transport. Timely friendly no uglys. We overnighted on Rottnest island out and back with a just right fel to the Ferry abd bike service. The gripe we hve is that they combine bikes and snorkelling equipment with a $100 dollar bond. But the bike spring holders drop the good snorkelling gear, leading to distressing back tracks. We tried using our overnight back packs, but they are too small. My daughter and I loved the bike snorkel rest circle on Rottnest. First gear is too high even for fit people, on Rottnest hills. A basket, or fixing the holding springs and a Phone/GPS holder would help, not looking for fallen snorkel gear. This is handyman level stuff. For those overnighting on the island a great place. Wanting to to cycle snorkle resort. Fix up the bikes to hold the snorkelling gear and navigate. Consider bike up grades such as more gears for the fit or e bike for less fit or older. The service is nice effective friendly and timely. Make the bike snorkel combo work.

Disappointed

The voucher says bike included but it wasn’t. I had a hard time finding the desk in the beggining and then when I said I had a voucher the lady at the desk didn’t look at the voucher she just gave me the ticket and said to get on the boat. I had to ask where to go. I saw some bikes on the boat and didn’t realise you need to get the bike from the desk when you get your tickets. When I arrived they looked at my voucher and checked my ticket and said the bike wasn’t included but it said on the voucher that it was. Then they asked if I’d like to hire a bike but then I thought I’d have to pay even more for that so I declined. I was disappointed with the lack of communication or clear signage and the false advertising. I suggest to buy the ferry tickets and hire a bike when you get there. It’s a lot cheaper

The well organised tour operator, from purchase of tickets, redemption of same and loading and unloading bikes and passengers .No fuss great friendly staff.

Beautiful beaches, lots of people!

We rented bicycles from Hilary’s port and the bike I used had faulty gears and seat, making for a less pleasant time. Afterwards they better explained that they could have sent someone to me within minutes to replace the bike. So if this happens, call them! I made the assumption that they couldn’t simply replace the faulty bike given we were on an island!

An amazing day on Rottnest Island

Beautiful beaches, easy to get around the island on the bikes, great options for eating. Ferry transfer and bike hire was easy and efficient, a great day out 😊

Must-do Rottnest experience

Free to roam, ride or walk the island with plenty of food, culture and shopping options. Alternately, relaxing in open spaces and people watching. Everyone we encountered was happy and accommodating. Quokkas bringing people together! Who knew?!

Love Rotto

Such an amazing Day to be back over on Rotto! Great ride over, which included seeing a whale, and even bumping into an old friend as our Captain on board :). Great bike riding, swimming and taking in the amazing views. Fabulous family day out.

Wow after wow!!!

It was stunning! The whole experience was breathtaking. We chose to cycle the whole island so got in some great exercise too!

The best thing to do in Perth!

Don’t miss the island. A wonderful experience. Make sure you pack a picnic for one of the gorgeous beaches! The Quokka don’t disappoint, they are amazingly tame and sweet!

Had the Most Amazing Day out on Rottnest Island cycling around the island without any issues with the bikes we hired viewing the spectacular beaches and sights finished the day with a Coffee and endless Quokka selfies. But will say this Cycling the whole island isn’t for the faint hearted it’s hilly and a bit mean

Ticket was not clear at all. we were suppose to leave rotto at 8:30 on the ticket however the ferry left at 7:45 there was no message or anything about what time we had to be there we arrived at 8 to get ready to board there was no ferry at all. The ticket was confusing to read. Me and my friends were left stuck at rotto due to this incorrect info.

Rottnest day trip

Lovely day trip to Rottnest. Simple process of getting our bikes at Hillarys and loading them onto the ferry. Comfortable seats and easy disembarking process. Very much enjoyed our trip to Rottnest and would happily go back with Fast Ferries

Nice cruise, nice bike ride, cute quokkas!

We took the Fast Ferry from Hillarys and hired bikes near the end of November. We had a lovely day, which was beautiful. We booked on line, paying $120 each, two days in advance. For some reason, despite booking on line, we still needed to queue up to check in and get our actual tickets when we arrived. It’s unclear why the tickets can’t simply be issued electronically as part of the on-line booking process. When we arrived, we were directed toward the bike section, where one of the staff identified our bikes, which had been tagged with our name. We then walked the bikes to the ferry, and handed them over to the staff who loaded the bikes on to the ferry. The loading process was very efficient. Again, it was unclear why we needed to pick up the bikes, only to hand them over for loading and why they couldn’t already have been loaded. Not that it was much hassle. It just seems like a lot of moving the bikes back and forth that could have been avoided with a slightly different logistical set up. The sailing over to the island was lovely. After arriving, we circled the island on our bikes in a somewhat counter clockwise route. It was somewhat windy and the island is a bit hilly. The bikes’ gearing is okay, but not the same as a typical 10- or 15-speed bike, especially at the low gear end. We saw numerous people walking their bikes up steep hills because there wasn’t a low enough gear for them to ride. Overall, the bikes were in good condition and we had no mechanical problems. Also, it would have been a great option for the bike hire company to offer eBikes. That would allow groups of people of different fitness/cycling ability to all enjoy the island equally, without having to worry about the slowest person keeping up. We enjoyed stopping by at the various beaches, the two lighthouses, and the far west end of the island (Cape Vlamingh). And, of course, we loved seeing the Quokkas. We had lunch at a restaurant in the Settlement and then boarded the ferry back. Disembarkation and returning our bikes was quick and easy, and we had no problem with the credit card security for the bikes.

Great experience

Rottnest is beautiful and bike hire cats ferry is the best way to see it and get there. No issues with check in, bikes etc.

Quokka spotting all day long!

Absolutely loved our day on Rottnest-went on a lovely Spring day and saw so many quokkas! Rottnest Fast Ferries were friendly, efficient and made the whole experience incredibly straightforward and enjoyable.

Fantastic experience

We had a great day on Rottnest Island. The volunteers at the lighthouse were great, very friendly and had so much information about the island. The maps provided at the information centre were great and very easy to follow. It was the perfect amount of time to see the island and stop off at the sights along the way we even made it back in time to have dinner in Frankies and a treat in the bakery..was a brilliant day all round.

Amazing experience

One of the best day trips I've ever done. Good workout with the bikes and the water was Cristal clear for snorkling!

Great fun day

Easy to get the bikes and head over. Great fun riding around the island. So many spots to stop and swim. Finish at the Quokka Arms for a relaxing drink overlooking the ocean. Wonderful day

Honeymoon

The experience was fantastic. Great crew. There was how ever members of the public who were not wearing masks which are mandatory on the vessel! It should be managed better!

Very disappointed

Normally very good however we travelled back from Rotto on Saturday and a very calm crossing xxxx thanks to the Capt and weather however during the crossing 6 whales where on the bow there were 11 passengers on board and I missed the whales it would have been nice to have an announcement that the whales were there.

Dont trust rottnest fast ferries

The worst experience. My luggage was not taken to Perth from Rottnest. Next day they said it arrived and asked $20 for delivery to my place as i was working. They refused to take responsibility for the lost luggage, though i paid additional fee at their office at the time of check in for luggage tags. Rude and zero customer service

First trip to Rottnest Island

Although I grew up in W.A. this was the very first time my kids and I had visited Rottnest Island and with the faultless booking process, collection of hire bikes and efficient Ferry ride organised by Rottnest Fast Ferries made our inaugural trip to Rottnest Island all that more memorable. Thank you Rottnest Fast Ferries for your professional and highly enthusiastic staff.

Do not waste your £ on bike hire

I bought this package thinking it would be easier. The minibus picked us all up around our accommodations in Perth and took us to Hilary's harbour. It did all this far too early meaning we arrived almost an hour too early and had to waste time hanging around in the drizzle before anything was open, until we were allowed to collect the bikes and start boarding the boat. This was a crap start to the day. I collected my bike and was told I had a brand new one, and they were interested to see how I found it. However, it weighed a ton and as it turned out was completely pointless and unnecessary as there is a free bus service all around Rottnest Island and there's no need to bother taking a bike over there. I paid an additional refundable deposit that I was told would be back in my card in one week at the most. The ferry left late but we did move at speed to Rottnest. Disembarkation was chaos and everyone needed to collect their bikes from the same place at the same time. I quickly realised my bike was far too heavy (I cycle a lot and was convinced the tyres were flat so got them checked out, no - just a crap heavy bike!) Cycled a little way before ditching the bike and finding out about the hop on/hop off bus service instead. Used the bus to travel all around the island at ease. The ferry ride back to Hilary's harbour was fine until someone pulled an emergency lever and the ferry had to slow down to find out what was wrong, there was nothing wrong and this delayed us all by about 30 mins. Returned the bike when we got back and found my minibus and was dropped off near my apartment. A week later no sign of the refund, I got back to the UK at the end of Jan and still no refund. I emailed and was told there must be a mistake and my credit card company must be delaying it. Waited and waited and in the end decided I must have missed it. No - 30 days after the transaction they refunded the deposit, after sitting on it all that time. Don't bother with the ferry and bike hire package, there's no need to travel from Hillary's harbour unless you're staying there, and don't waste your time and energy on a bike - it's totally unnecessary and I really wish someone had told me this!

Excellent customer service

Fantastic Service - emailed reception staff several times due to itinerary changes and not only were they extremely efficient they wished me a happy day every time even though I was being very needy. I have used Fast Ferries on numerous occasions and they have always been excellent. Nothing better than good customer service - thank you Ashley and Grace.

A great day and a very efficient service form Hillarys

This service from Hillary's Boat Yard is excellent. It was very convenient, as we were staying in Sorrento Beach. We left on the 7.30am service so as to maximise our time on Rottnest Island. We were unable to use the bikes as my wife had a knee injury, but made use of the excellent round island HO/HO 'Explorer' bus service instead, going right around the island on the first bus and then returning to some of the delightful bays/beaches using the bus again. It's a very frequent and punctual service. From what we saw, the bike hire service from Hillary's is very efficient and very popular and although we had a great day, we were a little disappointed we were unable to make use of it.

Did not return bike hire deposit

We visited Rottnest on 13th January and were asked to pay $50 for bike hire. As we didn’t have cash it was taken from our credit card. When we returned the bikes we were informed it would be automatically returned but it wasn’t. We have called and emailed multiple times however they have still failed to return the deposit or respond when promised.

Absolutely shocking service - Do not ever use them

I had the displeasure of using Rottnest Fast Ferries this past weekend. I phoned to ask a few questions before I booked and was on hold for over 40 minutes so I hung up and drive to their office in Hillary’s. I asked if they did the hire equipment such as seat and cargo trailers for children. I was told no I would have to get them on the island. I could hire the bikes from them and have the rest attached on the island at pedal and flipper. I proceeded to book my three bikes and ferry online. On arrival at pedal and flipper on the island I was informed that they were not able to attach their equipment to Rottnest Fast Ferry bikes. The manager at Pedal and Flipper, who was lovely, got them on the phone to see if there was anything they could do as we were now on the island with a baby and three bikes. Obviously we could not carry the baby on our arms while cycling around!!!! The manager said that the staff member at Rottnest Fast Ferry that she spoke to was incredibly rude to her but that they would speak to their supervisor and get back to me. When they called my phone the woman said that clearly I had misheard what I was told and the supervisor would never had said that their bikes could be used to attach the baby trailer or seat. After much discussion, a screaming baby and three very cranky adults they finally said that they would refund all three of the bikes as the day was ruined but that we would have by to pay for a new bike and trailer on the island costing $50. Now I have just had to call them again as I was only refunded for one bike. The woman on the phone said that no the supervisor would never have said that they would refund three bikes and I was clearly wrong again. So either I’m completely deaf and stupid or they are absolutely useless! I know what I heard. They were not pleasant to deal with in person or on the phone. Not only was our day ruined but I’m out of pocket for the day. Do not use them or expect any help from them if you do make the mistake of using them.

Bad service, broken bikes

Booked the ferry + bike rental, was given a bike that was unrideable and unfixably broken. No staff available on the island to help and nobody picking up the phone at the head office. Was told the employees at the office could help but they offered nothing and refused to refund the cost of the rental for the broken bike I could not use. Rottnest island was beautiful but stay away from Rottnest Fast Ferry they will waste your time and money.

Broken bike - Terrible customer service

Buckle up, this is a a long review . Family of 5 booked ferry + bike rentals. 5 minutes into riding bike along smooth paved path at a walking speed , one of the brake lines came loose and wrapped around front wheel and the wheel would no longer turn. Luckily we were close to the settlement when this occurred and not on an isolated stretch of trail. We took it to the island bike repair centre and were told they could not fix it, we spoke to the volunteer centre and they could not assist . We called the Fast ferry office and were on hold for over 20 minutes before giving up and deciding to get on with the day. Our group member with the broken bike ended up purchasing a hop-on hop -off bus ticket at additional cost and met the rest of us at various points on the island rather than spending the day as a family. We called the office again shortly after 1pm at which time we were told there is no staff member on the island to assist , that we should speak to the office staff when we get off the return ferry and that if we left the bike behind we could not get our bond reimbursed. The boat staff who assisted to load the broken bicycle on to the ferry assured us that the office staff would help us out. This was not the case. The woman at the ticket counter a) insinuated that we were lying and had not contacted the office b) refused to reimburse the cost of the bike rental (let alone the cost of the unforeseen bus fare) and c) assured us she was the most senior staff member present and there was no one to whom we could escalate the matter. All in all a very disappointing lack of resolution but I suppose we should be thankful no one was seriously injured.

One day Rottnest Fast Ferry and bike hire.

Paid for ferry & bike hire day before. Organised bike sizes for grandchildren & myself. Bike locks provided on the day free of charge. Bikes have gears. A refundable deposit for 3 bikes was AU$70. Total cost for One Pensioner and 2 chn with bike hire was $220. That was with discount as I am an RAC member. No problems there. Staff are very friendly and helpful . Everything runs like clockwork boarding and disembarking. The ferry itself is big, modern and clean with a snacks drinks coffee available. An information video of safety and an overview of the island. Being a catamaran it is very stable even in rough seas . We didn't ride too far from the main area as I know it can be VERY hilly further along the island. Plenty to do close to main area. Snorkeling paradise, there is always calm water somewhere no matter which way wind blows. We took lour own snorkeling gear but you can hire that at the island if you wish. The Basin was the favourite. Visited the old church and Museum. Rode down to salt lakes and up to the lookout past the old cemetery. Had lunch at Subway in main area with Quokkas hopping around under table hoping some crumbs may drop. Must not feed Quokkas as human food will make them sick. Plenty of their natural food around. They are nocturnal but you will always find some of them out and about during the day. Noticed there were hardly any seagulls stealing food out of your hands this visit, which was very pleasing indeed. That has been a BIG problem in the past spoiling everybody's lunch. Didn't have time to catch the Bayseeker hop on hop off bus this time but that is a great cheap way to see all of the island. Make sure you take water as there is NO WATER at most of the beaches past the main area and at the extreme end of the island. . There are dugite snakes on the island, not that I have ever seen one, but you do have to be aware and watch where you walk. You should know first aid and what to do if you should be unlucky enough to be bitten. Don't let this put you off a Rottnest experience,. Most people never see them and the snakes don't want to see you either. You can come back on an earlier ferry if you wish and there is enough room, which usually isn't a problem. A really great experience in WA. I know, I'm a local.

Fantastic day out

What a brilliant day out. Departed Perth harbour at 8.45 an . Complimentary refreshments and great commentary about riverside on route. Seating comfortable. Lots of shade. Journey took about 1.5 hours. On disembarking given bike and snorkelling equipment from ship and set off for a brilliant day of beach and island exploration,snorkelling . Breathtaking views both on top and beneath the sea. Beautiful coral and fish to see when snorkelling. Favourite snorkelling area for us was left side of Salmon bay. Lots of Quokka seen although no quokka selfie I’m afraid! Highly recommend

Fabulous day trip

The bikes were ready for us on arrival which was great. The ferry trip to Rottnest was rough - I think because largely we were sitting on the bottom level & could feel every rise & fall. It was great to be able to start riding as soon as we got to the island - instead of having to wait & hire bikes there. We had perfect weather conditions & circumnavigated the coastal track all around the island. Enroute we came across various places with the resident Quokkas happy to let us come close. Exhausted at the end - but happy. Good variety of eateries at the Settlement & the General Store well stocked with great variety of everything. Made a point of travelling back on the upper deck which was enjoyable.

Great day out

From start to finish everything went like clockwork. Ferry ride, staff were fantastic. Bike collect at Hillarys - very efficient. Only comment would be 2 out of 4 bikes - the gears were almost completely gone (no low gears at all) which made any inclines challenging. Highly recommend Rottnest Fast ferries!

Bike hire

The main issue we had with the day was that the bikes were in very poor condition. On an island which is very hilly the gears all need to be working properly which unfortunately they were absolutely terrible as 1st and 2nd gears were non existent. selecting them sometimes worked and sometimes gears would come and go as they pleased. The gear selector indicator was broken on one of the handles so you never knew what gear you was in. On most occasions when encountering a hill and changing down gear we ended up getting off the bike and walking it up the hill which kind of defeats the point of having a bike. We have our own bikes in the UK and know that it is the gearing that make hill climbs possible so this was ridiculous. One of our bikes steering was to the left at an 11 oclock position. All of this in 30+ degree's of heat was not welcoming at all! Rottnest island was an amazing place, with incredible beaches and views. If you are planning a visit there don't rent these bikes!

We went as a small group of 5 friends. The management of Rottnest Island Fastferries was excellent. We had great time cycling around the island. It was a great experience for us with tremendous view of the island.

Best way to experience Rottnest

Well organised local operation. We were picked up at our city accommodation 9.30 and driven to Hillarys Boat Harbour to collect our bikes which were waiting for us with our names on the handlebars, a good idea as there are many of the same bikes on the island! Also given a lock. Then we had the day at our leisure cruising around the beautiful island to return on the ferry at 4.30. Thomson’s and Hotel Rottnest are perfect spots for drinks and lunch,and you can see your ferry coming in. The is a resident peacock at the Hotel Rottnest as well as lots of inquisitive quokkas! The ferry commute is 45 mins and there are refreshments for sale on board including decent coffee and alcoholic beverages. A must do when in Perth.

Amazing beaches – cute Quokkas

It was really an amazing day, and it was one of the cheapest options to go on the island and discover the island on my own. The ferry was really big and a lot of people do the trip with a rent bicycle. On the island are a lot of hills, so you need a little endurance to drive throw the hole island, but you can see a lot of really beautiful beaches and places. Also, all around the island you can find the cute Quokkas and make selfies with them. A really bad thing about my rent bicycle was, that the gears did not work anymore, and on the island, you really need it. All in all, it was an amazing daytrip, I saw a lot of amazing beaches and take also a selfie with a Quokka.

Awesome boat and new bikes

Love the experience so much. Comfy ferry and new bikes. The price is cheaper than other companies. Its my 4th time visiting rotto and Rottnest Fast Ferry is my favorite.

Family holiday

Best holiday we've had in years.. Bus driver very professional and friendly. Excellent job arranging bikes for our 11/8 year olds.

Awesome Day!

All staff went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable trip over. Would do it again in a heart beat! Weather was perfect and island was exactly like the photos. Took my kids and my mother and all fell inlove with the place. Thankyou for making it a pleasent and memorable journey.

On my bucket list

I came to Australia to see the Quokkas and get a selfie. Mission accomplished. It is no fault of the company that the weather turned misreable so we could only use our bikes for 5 -10 minutes and speant most of the day indoors at cafes drinking coffee to stay warm and dry. The lighthouse is amazing, though other than going on the bus, I did not see as much as the Island as I wanted. I wish there had been an earlier boat to return on, since it was cold and rainy, but we made the best of it and got lots of pictures.

Rewarding Day at Rottnest

I booked a ferry and bike through Rottnest Island Fast Ferries and I can highly recommend them. Staff are exceptionally helpful, ferry was well maintained and bike easy to ride. Rottnest is a very picturesque island with various cycling tracks to explore, pristine beaches and several cafes and waterfront eateries. Relaxed Quokkas can be spotted near the cafe hub where they potter about chewing leaves. Ferries drop off at the island around 11 and collect around 4.30. Take your time to enjoy the slower pace and wonderful views. If weather is warm- bring bathers- the ocean’s amazing.
