Pinnacle Desert Sunset and Night-time Stargazing Tour from Perth

Fantastic trip

From the moment we were picked up at the very convenient pick up point we started to enjoy ourselves. The commentary about the surrounding area and beyond was second to none. We arrived in Yanchep National park in no time and managed to see a very sleepy Koala and several lazy kangaroos! After an Aussie style afternoon tea with yummy cake we travelled on to the Pinnacles passing terrific sandunes on the way. The Pinnacles were out of this world, stretching out into the desert but one of the highlights for us was watching the sunset over the ocean. After that, we enjoyed an trip exclusive meal in Cervantes then back to the Pinnacles to star gaze. Grant, our stargazing guide was excellent, pointing out many stars and constellations and we were very lucky, not only to see a shooting star but a quite rare fireball with a trail. Absolutely fantastic! After a safe trip back, with a detour through the suburbs due to extensive motorway roadworks, we arrived safely back, outside our accommodation. The trip was excellent and many thanks to everyone (Apologies - names are not our strong point)

Compliant and Big Disappoinment

I will never recommend my friends and other people to join. I departed from Pan Pacific Perth hotel and logically, and as promised, I should have been returned to same hotel on time. However the guide forgot my existence and by passed the hotel, sending all other participants back to their hotels one by one except me. When I realized I was not brought back, it was already 12 .30am midnight. I needed to wake up early next morning and I was very disappointed and angry about such poor serices and big mistakes made. I was even not being apologized for that! What a services to a tourist!!

Great experience! Our guide Jonathan made this even better - our own personal astronomer 💫🪐⭐️🌠 Go on a clear day if possible to get full sunset and star gazing experience.

A Pinnacles trip, In Which You Spend Virtually No Time There.

Please don't waste your money on this trip. I can honestly say the worst organised trip ever, I have never seen so many people upset and angry. It all stems from not having the regular driver, spent double the time at the wildlife centre, the result is less than 30 minutes spent at the Pinnacles, it should have been an hour. Majority of this trip is spent getting there and back, if you have a hire car go yourself, it's dead easy to get there from Perth and you will have a lot more time at the Pinnacles. The Stargazing is done in the Pinnacles car park. This trip is all smoke and mirrors, and leave a big hole in your pocket.

Well Worth It

We really enjoyed this trip out to the hinterlands. Even though it was a long weekend locally, we had the best staff escorting us out-and-about; very knowledgeable and friendly, making this a fabulous outing. More surprising was the cross-section of peoples who found this attraction worthwhile, and we were very happy to be a part of it ... Thx Again !

Don't miss this fabulous experience

A long tour but well worth it. Everywhere is far in WA and, when you have a personable and informative guide like Zac, the miles go by quickly enough. Super comfy coach and good food at dinner time, two refreshments stops . The mysterious pinnacles were fascinating, sunset beautiful over the Indian ocean and and star gazing was gobsmackingly wondrous. I'll never forget seeing distant galaxies. Worth every cent.

The Pinnacles are worth the trip

Wonderful experience, the Pinnacles are truly spectacular. We could have spent much longer wandering around admiring them. The timing was great, we got there just before sunset. Special compliments to our driver, Vic, for his expert driving and interesting commentary.

46 degrees and no stars

We did what we could on an awfully hot but cloudy day… Obviously no one can control the weather and who could’ve known that it turns out to be one of the hottest days. Chris and Zaki did everything they could to keep us cool, keep us hydrated and make sure we still got as much as we could out of the tour. It was a shame though that after the drive we didn’t get to see the sun set in the Pinnacle desert, and star gazing was a bit of a hit and miss as well because it was a very cloudy day/night. Chris provided great insights as we drove out to our stops and still explained a lot about the stars we could see and those we unfortunately couldn’t. In those temperatures and those weather conditions I just wonder if the tour operator couldn’t make a decision to cancel the tour because while I understand that weather conditions are out of everyone’s control, I didn’t really get what I paid for despite everyone’s best effort.

日本人女性ガイドの態度に非常に不愉快な思いをしました。

Tour Driver was great,but Japanese Tour Guide made us so pissed off. パース到着後、ピナクルツアーデスクで直接申込を行いました。申込時に、ピックアップは近くの大型ホテル、ツアー終了時刻が午後11時頃であり、遅く危ないので、宿泊先のホテルまで送るので当日ドライバーへ申し出るようにと言われたため、申し込みを行いましたが、道が狭いためホテルまで送ることはできないと当日、ドライバーに言われました。結局、ドライバーと話し合いを行い、ホテルまで送り届けていただけましたが、ツアー中の日本人女性ガイドの態度に非常に不愉快な思いをしました。 基本は英語ツアーですが、オプションで日本人ガイドを追加できるようです。参加者は５０名程度、そのうち１５名程度が日本人でした。1組の日本人参加者の方が日本人ガイドオプションを手配されていたようで、その１組のみ、イヤホンが渡され日本人女性ガイドが同時通訳されていました。 日本人ガイドは当然、オプションをつけられた１組を気に掛けられていましたが、夕食時はオプションなしの日本人参加者と一緒に食事され、日本語で歓談。また他のオプションなしの日本人参加者への集合時間のアナウンスも日本語でされていました。 通常ならいない日本人ガイドですが、オプションなしの日本人とも日本語で話されてましたので、ホテルのドロップオフの件はよくあることなのか聞いてみようと日本人ガイドへ日本語で話しかけた瞬間、こちらが何の話をしようとしているのか一切確認もせず、「英語ガイドツアーの方はドライバーと話してください。」と真顔で答えられ、とりつくしまもありませんでした。ガイド自身がサービスで日本語で話しかけるのはOK、日本人が日本語で話しかけるのはNGという決まり事をご自身の中でされていらっしゃるのでしょうか。 オプションをつけていないので、当たり前といえば当たり前なのかもしれませんが、非常に不愉快な気持ちになりました。 １週間のパース旅行で１番不愉快な態度で接され、１番不愉快な思いをしたのは、まさかの現地日本人女性ガイドによるものでした。 非常に残念ですが、この日本人女性ガイドが参加するツアーには二度と参加したい気持ちにはなれません。

it went really fast, too...

it went really fast, too fast, seeing koalas and kangaroos, eating dinner and seeing Pinnacles Dessert. I could have liked the time to walk the one mile round trip. The stargazing was fantastic. The guide was really good at telling.

Stunning stargazing night

It is a nice trip although the driving time was about 5 hours up and down but the time spent at the Pinnacles for the stargazing is worthwhile for the long travel. I’ve never seen stars full of the sky and they are absolutely gorgeous.

Best to drive and do yourself

Complete waste of money when you could drive yourself for a fraction of cost and not worry about time nor food , we did seperate trip next day and had a better experience plus covered more places including caves, sanddunes etc for a fraction...

The night sky at the pinnacles is absolutely breathtaking and a must to visit! A great tour!

The night sky was absolutely incredible! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative, I learnt so much! Both guides were extremely friendly and helpful and made the trip a lot of fun. The were only two minor negatives and that was my being a bit uncomfortable in my seat due to a very full bus putting people in a very close proximity and the 'screaming banshee' at the restaurant , that young woman needs a lesson in customer service.The atmosphere and food were great but she really spoilt it with her screaming out insteuctions like we were a herd of cattle and being so rude to the tourists. But truly apart from that the tour itself was brilliant! Great way to spend new years eve!

Excellent

Very fun and interesting tour. Zaki our guide was really friendly and gave great commentary on the drive, and was knowledgable about the stars. Keith our driver was great and really accommodating. Well organised and would definitely recommend.

Out of this World

It was a great experience- the pinnacles are out of this world! Thanks to Evan and Rose for making it a memorable trip!

The bus driver made it worthwhile

Luke the driver ruined us. By that I mean HE was the highlight of the trip. I wouldn’t want to have a Pinnacles tour without him! The sights were beautiful to see and the night stars were amazing to see. But Luke the driver added another dimension to the trip.

Solo Tour Experience!

The tour was smooth sailing and interesting. There was so much depth in information that was told during the trip which displayed the country and uniqueness. Had an amazing time with the kangaroos right in front of me at Yanchep. The pinnacles caught my eyes and it was beautiful and managed to capture a fantastic view of the sunset. The weather was chilly and although the stargazing was not as expected due to the cloudy weather but we managed to see a really bright full moon and few stars as clouds cleared slowly. The food was also splendid and delicious. In conclusion, it was a one of a kind experience and recommend trying it out with friends and family.

Suitable for elderly but not for families as this was quite a downer

Go see the Pinnacles.

It was a good trip worth doing . We didn’t get a sunset because of the weather but it sky cleared up and we saw lots of stars. Was a little disappointed in the fact they there were no telescopes which I was under the understanding that there would be. The dinner was good and worth upgrading to the lobster. The only thing that was a little hard was the coach driver talked a lot about himself and how wonderful he was.

Jonathon & Frank we’re a fountain of knowledge. They were very friendly and drove well. The pinnacles were pictures & the dinner was yummy.

Fabulous stargazing

We went for one of these tours with a different company a few years back and enjoyed it enough to do another one with Pinnacle Tours and very glad we did as this was definitely better than the first one. Being a Monday in winter the group was fairly small - around 20 so lots of room on the bus. Driver/guide Glenn was excellent a very detailed commentary on the drive up, but humorous at the same time - I know fair bit about WA history and the Dutch East India company etc but definitely learned some more. We had a good hour at the Pinnacles with sunset - definitely longer than last time and allowed us to venture further. Dinner in Cervantes was good, we paid for the lobster upgrade. Stargazing back in the desert (or more accurately the car park next to the desert, but it's very dark and you are looking at the sky) was awesome. A fabulous night for it and Glenn came into his own pointing out planets, constellations, stellar dust clouds etc with a clear enthusiasm for what he was doing. Overall a great experience.

An opportunity to get a real feeling for this extraordinary landscape

A brilliant day but also a long day which was perfect from my perspective. Meeting the coach at the agreed location was easy and messages via Viator were easy and responded to quickly. The Coach and Tour Guides commentary and assistance was very good throughout. The trip began with a visit to a wildlife park to see Koala Bears sleeping high in the eucalyptus trees. We also saw a female kangaroo and her baby. On arrival at the Pinnacle Dessert our return time at the coach was made clear and we were all encouraged not to wander far from the path and to walk to the Desert viewing platform and back. I am an experienced adventure traveller but must insist that this is very good advice as disorientation in the Pinnacle Dessert is easy, making navigation difficult. You can get a real feeling for this extraordinary landscape without wandering far afield. After approximately an hour in the desert we then drove to a restaurant for dinner included in the price of the excursion (alcoholic drinks may be purchased). I am a vegan was very happy with my meal. Boarding the coach as the sun set we returned to the Pinnacle Desert car park to gaze at the amazing stars. Great for me to see the Southern Cross and a sky full of stars and the Milky Way! An incredible evening! The coach driver was kind enough to drop me back to my accommodation as it was so late.

Great photo opportunities

Arriving by Australian Pinnacles Tour bus the first impression walking down into the valley was a sight I will not forget. A beautiful sunny day with some clouds. The sunset was glorious and the story the guide could tell us about the stars we were gazing at later in the tour was very impressive.

Great experience overall, with a few unfortunate encounters.

Destination: 1) 😀The scenery and sunset was amazing! 2) ☹️The trail markers were confusing though, especially for beginners like us. They were wooden poles positioned at irregular intervals, with some partially hidden by shrubs. The direction signs are designed like a bird foot, but with 2 on each pole, pointing in different direction (for different routes). There's no word or colour to help us identify which is the correct direction to go for the route we want. Tour operator: 1) ☹️We were informed of the pick up point and time in advance. However, about 45min before the scheduled time, they notified us that the pick up was shifted earlier and the bus had already departed half an hour ago. 😀The service recovery was good - they suggested various alternatives, and we settled on joining another tour that was scheduled to depart from a location about 6km away, 15min later. They reimbursed our taxi fare and informed the bus driver to wait for us. 2) ☹️Due to some confusion over the trail markers, we were delayed in getting back to the tour bus. Reaching 9 minutes after the time set by the tour guide, we were shocked to discover that the bus had departed without us! The sky was rapidly getting dark and we only had about 200ml of water and 2 small packs of peas between the 2 of us. We did not have the contacts of the tour guide or bus driver. We called the tour operator hotline but they were closed for the day. We called the police, but was told by the officer on the line that they will not be able to pick us up. She further questioned what we expected the police to do. It was devastating to realise that our situation was not considered to be sufficiently urgent for the police to take action! She eventually assured us that she would try to reach out to the tour bus for us and told us to call back in 15 minutes. We sure appreciate Singapore's security services a lot more after! Fortunately for us, a friendly traveller, Amy, overheard our call with the police and approached to offer help. She gave us a ride to the dinner destination at Cervantes, 19km away. Along the way, we called the police hotline, and was attended to by a different officer. He was not able to trace our earlier conversation but was able to help us call the restaurant to inform them we were on the way. Around this time, a tour office staff who I had messaged for help responded and notified our bus driver to wait for us. When we finally arrived at the restaurant, the driver apologised profusely and explained that he had asked his co-driver to check the headcount 3 times before they drove off. We wish the said co-driver had taken the time and effort to explain what had gone wrong, so we could understand the situation better. 😀Again, there was good service recovery. We were given a 50% reimbursement on our day tour, along with more apologies from the manager and staff on duty the next day at the tour office. The manager also asked questions to understand the circumstances of our encounter for their review of their processes. 3) 😀The tour guide was very knowledgeable. This was especially evident during the stargazing segment, where he, along with the bus driver, were able to point out the various stars and constellation with accuracy (we tracked using a stargazing app). Dinner (at Cervantes Bar and Bistro): 😐I topped up $20 for lobster, while my wife opted for fish and chips. The lobster was hard to remove from the shell and the fish was dry. But the fries were great! Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and we believe our unfortunate experiences were likely to be exceptions to the norm.

Full of information, lots of natural beauty... a fair amount of driving too

The tour was a great way to spend an afternoon and evening. There was a lot of sitting on the coach but it was worth it! The stop at the wildlife area was great as it was our first chance at seeing wild kangaroos and several koala's too. All natural and on their terms - the best way to see animals. Had a mini "afternoon tea" before setting of - tea & biscuits in the car park (Might have been nice if we could have parked near to some benches or grass to sit on?) The drive to the Pinnacles did take some time, but I had my book, husband had earphones & my mum had a sleep! I think we may have been a bit delayed in arriving at the Pinnacles as it felt like we had a very hurried 20 minutes to wander down before being told we would miss the sunset otherwise - I didn't want to miss the sunset (which ended up being too cloudy for anyway!) so we didn't explore all the formations as much as I would have liked. We went about 20 minutes down the road for dinner. The place was busy and clearly popular - they didn't seem overly great at dealing with a large coach party AND their normal clients - only 1 person serving at the bar, long waits for food (& ours had been pre-booked!) I'd love to say the food was good, but as a vegetarian I was given a cold salad (half hour after EVERYONE else on the tour had received theirs, despite asking staff 3 times where mine was!) I ended up buying a dessert just to have some substance, and even then had to hurry it down as the bus was leaving. After dinner we went back to the Pinnacles area, but stayed in the car park area (despite having been told we would be going to a seated area away from the car park) The stargazing and information provided by Grant was amazing, he clearly loves his job and talking about the stars - he was so factual without being boring! I could have stayed out there much longer listening to him describing and pointing things out! The drive back to the hotels took about 2.5 hours, but all went smoothly with no issues. Thank you to the driver (sorry I forgot his name!) and Grant for being friendly and helpful throughout. Had a lovely chat with the driver after dinner too. The only dampener was the food, my husband who was a meat eater said that his was really good!

Best Pinnacle tour - Sunset and Stargazing

It was the best decision that I have made in Perth, with Australian Pinnacle Tours. I have been to the Pinnacle before but this tour was really different! Needless to mention how fabulous Pinnacle view has always been. We did not manage to catch the sunset due to the cloud, but the stargazing part was the highlight of the whole tour. We were late for at the pick up for our Morning Pinnacle Trip (my bad, i know) and Australian Pinnacle Tours managed to put us in the Sunset and Stargazing (Trillion Thank You) and it was amazing! The bus tour was comfortable, you have wifi and charging station on the go. The foods at dinner were yummy and they even served Hot tea and coffee at night after the stargazing in the cold weather. Tour Guide is really knowledgeable, he answered everything on point. and shared all the interesting stories and fun facts. Love them both! Gordon the driver was really funny, he has made our tour so relaxing and chill.

Night out

On the pickup, the bus was running late, but the office contacted me to let me know this. I totally appreciated this communication! We were on a full bus. There were 20 to 30 people in this group. They were having technical difficulties with the microphone on the bus the entire time. And since we were sitting in the back of the bus, we did not hear any of the commentary, which was disappointing. When we got to Yanchep National Park. Our guide did not wait for everyone to get off the bus before he went into the park and basically just left us. When we got to the rest of the group, we had to ask what we were looking at, as our guide was not paying attention to his group. We did see koalas but never did see any kangaroos. Next, we went to Pinnacles. This place was very cool to walk around! Enjoyed our time here. Then we went to a local restaurant. I did one lobster upgrade and one fish and chips. I totally recommend the lobster, as it was delicious! The fish and chips were ok. Then we went back to the Pinnacles and looked at the stars 🌟. We got to see the Southern Cross and the Milky Way. Was way worth it if you had never seen the Southern sky. We got back late to Perth - around 11pm. But the bus driver was so great and dropped us off at our hotel. That was greatly appreciated!!! It was a good night even with the difficulties that we had.

We loved The Pinnacles!

What a fabulous day! The Pinnacles are otherworldly. It was super fun to walk around them in daylight and then watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean. Also enjoyed the stop at the park to see koalas and kangaroos. Dinner was good. We opted for the lobster and it was worth the extra $20. Although there were clouds, there were lots of stars and Grant gave some super interesting commentary and pointed out various stars and constellations. The bus is comfy and Gordon is a terrific driver, so it didn’t seem too long. Highly recommended.

More rocks

It is a long bus ride for some rocks in the ground. The weather was terrible- rain and clouds. No sunset. The dinner was good. The sky cleared for the star gazing.

Cancelled Tour

Tour started then cancelled while we were at Yanchep National Park. Bus broke down. We waitied about an hour and a half for a 2nd bus to pick us up. We lost so much time that we missed the sunset at the pinnacles and pinnacles themself. Not sure why their bus isn't regularly maintained. Very disappointing! Driver Luke did not give any updates regularly, group of 20 passengers just standing around wondering....group had to ask him what's going on. Since we lost so much time majority of group wanted to cancel. It seems the driver was still going to continue the tour still. That would've been a pretty expensive Dinner Only Tour. Drivers response...."It is what it is" to a group of people on vacation. This could've definitely been avoided if this tour company maintain their buses. I guess with an attitude of "it is what it is" shows what type of tour company this is

A memorable trip to Pinnacles

The sunset view from Pinnacles was wonderful! Nice weather and cool breeze. The stargazing experience was amazing with the milky way clearly visible.

great adventure

all was great The Park with the Kanguroos and Koalas. Was a little bit pity that we have had no more time. The Pinnacles a great to see and the meal was very good. The stars at the sky was wonderful to see and our Guide explainted it very good

Amazing time all the way around

Driver and Grant were amazing! Your was much better than we expected and we would strongly suggest!!! It did not disappoint in any way. Sights were amazing and explanations were very clear. Stopped for dinner and tea/cookies after star gazing.

Lovely Tour!

It was a nice evening trip! Nice bus/coach they take you on. Was great to stop and see tome wildlife on the way and enjoy a lovely sunset at the Pinnacles. Dinner was enjoyable and it’s so great being able to see the stars away from light pollution! Would recommend!

Awesome one time trip.

Sunset was very cool. The stars, mars and moon. Make sure go on night with out full moon if possible. Kangaroos and wildlife. It was a cheap trip with lots to see. Definitely recommend.

An amazing experience

The pinnacles were far more impressive than I had expected and covered a much bigger area. I also enjoyed learning a great deal about the sky at night in the Southern Hemisphere.

Fantastic Trip

Great trip with excellent guides who were very knowledge. The Pinnicales is a beautiful place. Stargazing amazing. It is a long coach trip but well worth the effort. Be prepared for late return to the city.

Anton made the trip more interesting!

We enjoyed the star gazing tour even though the sky was full of clouds. Nevertheless it was interesting and unique. Our tour guide, Anton was excellent! He was so informative and seemed to have an encyclopaedia full of historical knowledge as well as telling some interesting stories. Anton was very mindful about the possibility of kangaroos being on the road and took great care with driving the bus. We left Perth city at 2:15pm and got back at 11:15pm. We went to Yanchep National Park first, which is where we had afternoon tea. From there we went to the Pinnacles and then to Cervantes hotel for dinner. We returned to the pinnacles to do star gazing but unfortunately the sky was covered in clouds so not many stars to be seen. The seats on the bus were very comfortable.

Great trip, Luke was full of knowledge and Pete was a great assistant. The Pinnacles are fantastic and the night sky was amazing, highly recommend it. Dinner was great I had the lobster and my partner had the chicken burger.

Best Tour

My daughter and I joined the tour just a couple of days ago. This is the next tour I’ve had. The driver and guide were extremely professional, friendly and super knowledgeable. The views along the way were incredible. We ended up in the Pinnacles Desert twice - once just before sunset and then back there after dinner for star gazing. Highly recommended!!!

fun night out

Had a great time at the pinnacles and stargazing after the sun went down. I was thinking it would be more out a guided stargazing experience, but it we sort of just looked at the stars ourselves pointing out Mars and the Southern Cross. Despite that I still had a really fantastic time and Evan the bus driver was lovely. I especially appreciated him pointing out how to get out of the desert because I almost got lost!

Great experience 👌

Thoroughly enjoyed the day/evening. Lots of local information as well as general facts about Australia 🇦🇺 our guide, Evan, had a good sense of humour and our driver Le was excellent 👍. Evan did admit he was not up on the stargazing bit of the tour but he recommended an app and also plenty of others on the tour were happy to provide info, so all in all a very enjoyable sociable experience 👌

Overall a disappointing tour

A good trip but some disappointing aspects - the bus was late to pick us up (with no communication), the commentary was overly detailed, to the point of being boring, with factual inaccuracies. The stop at Yanchep to see wildlife was a misuse of time, to see one koala and then wait around for half an hour. The promised afternoon tea was not served until directly after dinner, when we really didn’t need it. It was unfortunate that the cloud cover was so dense, we couldn’t see any stars. We also didn’t expect to be stargazing from a carpark. At the time of booking, we were told we would be back around 11pm. Once on the bus, we were told it would actually be 1am, which caused some anxiety. This was eventually resolved, but the situation was managed poorly. We were very warmly greeted by Evan and he continued to be of great assistance. Lee was a great driver and we felt safe at all times. It was great to see the Pinnacles, but we would find it difficult to recommend this tour.

Simply Stunning!

Evan and Anton were lovely tour guides. They provided a lot of knowledge regarding WA during the ride up to The Pinnacles. The bus did have an issue with the microphone, but they overcome that obstacle! Yanchep National Park was lovely. Saw one Koala & several Kangaroos! The Pinnacles are stunning. It seems like another planet. Dinner was very good. My husband an I both had the Chicken Burger & chips. The final amazing scene was the stargazing! Absolutely breathtaking! We haven’t seen a night sky like that since 1995! No light pollution! We even saw a shooting star! I would recommend this trip to all!

Beautiful starry night

The night we were there was moonless and clear. The guides were excellent in pointing out the stars and planets. They had 2 large telescopes and many binocullars. The pinacles are a ver interesting geological formation covering a large area. Guides served a nice, hot picnic dinner. On the way there we surfed down sand dunes. It was fun
