Penang International Airport Plaza Premium Lounge

Not many choices

Not really sure but I think this is the only lounge available at Penang international airport. We used this lounge prior to us flying back to Singapore. It was really busy when we visited and we had some issues finding seats in the crowded lounge. Food was ok, nothing worth mentioning except that there was a live cooking station offering curry noodles when I was there.

Only beer available

Food was ok, but barely warm. Wanted a glass of soda or water but none in the fridge but fizzy soft drinks. Bar only offered beer unless you paid.

Average

Compact lounge which appeared to have been recently refurbished. Very busy in the morning, food quality average but good enough if you are hungry. Alcohol must be paid for. Both sinks were out of order which is unacceptable in terms of hygiene.

Worst lounge I ever come across

Was here on 24 July at around 7pm. The food is limited and bad. It is also very unhygiene. Saw a lot of flies around the coffee machine and some came to our food. The plates come with stain. Food fall all over the buffet and no one bother to clear. The guy at the reception walked around without informing ground staff and even took a coke for himself which is meant for lounge guest.

Chill and Cozy

It's always a nice and cozy relaxing lounge while waiting for the plane/travels. Assortment of food, snack and beverages always able to cater and satisfy my picky family.

Great manager

I am a member of the lounge, so I have visited many lounges before. Even due to lockdown I was surprised that this place was open. Due to the restrictions they now come and serve you at the table rather than you go up and order at the counter or self service which is not a problem. I was particularly impressed with Melvin who was the manager there. He was so polite, charming with a great sense of humour, which is definitely needed in times like this, and totally professional. What a fantastic manager. I just wish all lounges had lovely happy staff like him. I cannot praise him enough.

Hospitality while on Tansit.

Hospitality and service was excellent despite being lean on staff strength. Beverages and snacks good quality. A big shout out to Melvin in charge of the lounge.

Great morning

I am writing to compliment excellent service during my visit in Plaza Premium Lounge (Domestic Departures) in Penang International Airport on August 13. I had a great birthday morning while greeting by a pretty lady Ms. Nur Hanisah and served delicious meal by Chef Shahidi. Thanks to both friendly service and sweet smile cheer my day!

Pleasant experience

I visited Plaza Premium Lounge in Penang International Airport recently. I had a pleasant experience in the lounge. The staff was friendly, polite, efficient and no fuss. I would to compliment Melvin Kor for his superb service. The food was tasty, I like particularly the chicken rice which has a well balanced flavourful chilli sauce. Well done to the team!

Excellent coconut rice and teh tarik

Excellent food and service, Chef Oh, Chef Hafiz and Hao introduction coconut rice and teh tarik very delicious.

Top Chef Oh

The food was excellent. The electric staircase was broken, and the luggage was heavy, Chef Oh was very helpful for my walk in experience, Chef Oh bring my heavy luggage to board gate, thank Chef Oh.

Very friendly and helpful staffs

Great staff! Greeted me from the start and served politely! Better than a lot of other lounges that I've went.

Women's day

Haha gave my wife a cupcake for women's day, it's nice. It's a pleasant surprise, love it while waiting for our flight.

Plaza premium lounge pg

Very good vegetarian cutlet dished food served by Chef Oh, we are welcomed by a friendly Ritz and Xin Rou, nice staff name oh,hao, Bob, fikry, and nabil. Very yummy white curry noodle good taste.i very enjoy be in this lounge.

me and my wife enjoy lounge experience ,very quiet and excellent service from chef shahdi , very yummy taste curry noodle ever i had.. keep it up.. also from other chef give a very nice smile and welcome us ..i feel very enjoy and while waiting my flight for vacation .. highly recommend place .

Great Lounge!

My first impression toward the lounge is luxury and would not dare to go in until i noticed it is a benefit and it is worth the experience to try. The front staff was very friendly to explain everything to me and even guided me to my seat. Really enjoyed the lounge as the manager showed me the buffet area as well. Food was good and with many choices. Would definitely dropby again if i do visit Penang International Airport with now that i know that i can enjoy the lounge with my Citibank credit card.

Nice Place To Hangout before flight

Everything is fine, very friendly staff (Fabain who speaks hokkien dialect with me to make sure I've what I need here, food and drinks) thanks!

Fluctuating standards

Used to be an okay lounge, but they have deproved significantly. They used to have a rather acceptable menu with about 5 items you can order which they would prepare for you, which they changed to a buffet afterward. The buffet was a nightmare with always empty food trays. Then they reverted into a smaller a la carte menu for a short while. Now, they have a very short lunch / dinner period where they serve 3 options of actual food, though microwaved and dry, still edible. It is served in tiny tiny portions, and the wait is long. So now, if you miss lunchtime, you only get warm and cold drinks, buttered toast you have to queue for, and if you want beer, you have to ask for it, and you will receive your ration. The staff are very friendly, but from what I see, it's clearly management cost cutting. It has something to do with them managing 2 lounges now. The one next door is also managed by them, but not accessible by priority pass. It's a cathay lounge. Furnishing is already in need of replacement from overuse, and fabric of the lounge chairs are stained from use. Table tops are worn down from use, and staff frustrated from customers complaining.

Cold, loud and lack of food/drink choice

One of only 2 lounges in a good 1st location by Gate A2. Indifferent service in a 1980s retro lounge with cramped seating and lack of privacy, loud muzak and cold air conditioning. Very disappointing non-Asian food. Unless you are in lounge before 11am you are limited to toast, cereal or sad looking water melon. They charge for Coke, Fanta or Soda and there’s no wine/beer. Toilets are disgusting and in need of refurbishment.

Great service

Good extended service by the plaza crew. They even asked if we wanted a refill without us asking. Food is fresh and variety can be further improved

Cozy Lounge

Love the staff service Fabian Watson @ Ah Long.. surprised he could speaks various dialects👍🏽👍🏽. He’s hard working guy. Greeted almost all passengers he met and served them well too. The soup noodles was delicious just plain and simple. I just love it. Hope to visit here again

Time at the Plaza Lounge

Very good local food served by Fabian Watson. Will use the lounge more often in the future. The atmosphere is very pleasant, really good to use before our departure. Thank you.

Excellent and great service!!!!

As a 5 star hotel chef, the food in lounge was good but there more rooms for improvement, and would like to take this opportunity to thank "Melvin" for his wonderful hospitality services. Kudos to the team!!!! For sure will visiting again in near future.

Worst lounge, terrible food. McD serves better food, serious!

The lounge has gone from bad to worst. Ala-carte food is served cold. Buffet spread is miserable, salad looks like they are buying vege which Tesco is about to discard. There are flies on the food. Health department should visit this place. Not worth the price you are paying, you are better off seating at the waiting area which is bright, airy and has a view of the airplanes.

Family trip

Great service, good choices of food and friendly staff especially Syafizah, Yohesh and chef Shahidi.

Nice place to chill

Fairly small lounge but acceptable given size of airport. As Penang airport did not have a lot of places for young families to settle down, this was a good choice. Food was limited but there were sufficient snacks to occupy younger kids. The WIFI and toilet facilities were useful for families too.

Very poor

Like many Premium Plaza lounges you get the impression it's all about cost cutting. Hardly any food selection and then then it's poorly presented, cheap bites. Luke warm coffee.

Convinient & enjoying

Gratefully I found that Plaza Premium Lounge in Penang Airport is comfortable and relax place that u can hang around while waiting for your flight, there are some food and beverage served, all staff there are very kind.The food is nice and served very fast with quality, my table cleared in a few minutes after i hv done my meal.I enjoyed being there for your service, Keep it up

Woeful

Worst lounge we’ve visited. More people admitted than chairs available; only drinks available were coke or orange juice - no soft drinks, bottled water, beer etc - fridges were empty; no glasses - just one cup, which was hastily snatched up by people in front of us. We didn’t see any staff cleaning away used plates/rubbish from previous guests at all in the time we were in the lounge (around an hour plus). Showers are advertised on the website for this lounge - they do not exist!

Very basic lounge

We had to wait our flight for a quite a while here. Lounge is located just after exiting the security check. This is a small and bit worn out lounge. Service is not really friendly. In KL we had no issues for our party to enter the Golden lounge. This Penang lounge had some “local rules” complicating matters. I think they want to charge customers too eagerly even when that should NOT be the case. Food selection is limited. Same can be said of beverage selection. We had couple of fish ball noodle soups and nasi lemak. Noodles were average for an airport lounge. Nasi lemak was bland. I enclose a picture of their food selection. The lady chef was friendly. We had some soft drinks and few beers. Beer is the only alcohol beverage I saw and that I had to ask separately from the kitchen. Several local ladies were emptying many soft drink cans into their own larger bottles (local habit I assume) before they left the lounge. To sum it up: 2.5 stars for this lounge. Lounge was pretty similar as many basic lounges are in China. If you do NOT have a free lounge access then no point getting here.

Poor service

I have been using both Plaza Premium Lounges in Penang Intl Airport regularly on my Priority Pass card. Let me share the experience this morning: - tables were not cleared after guests left for flights and the place was not busy (I was one of 2 guests). - I asked for my table (one of few not to have uncleared tablewares) and she gave me the “attitude”. - staff members (kitchen staff and housekeeping lady) were happily chatting at the top of their voices. How unprofessional! I cannot say anything about another guest doing a telecon but staff is not supposed to add to the din. Felt like a warung kopi in town. I gave feedback to the nice receptionist and she hushed them up (peace returned). But these people made sure that I know their displeasure at being hushed. Management, do some training please.
