Versailles Small Group Guided Tour with tranportation from Paris

Tour guide not our cup of tea

Our tour guide was a very nice man, but we felt like we were getting a history lesson and being quizzed along the way. He didn’t read the group well, and wasted a lot of time talking about things that weren’t necessarily relevant to where we were. It just wasn’t what we were looking for in a guide, we would have preferred to see more and hear more specifics stories of Versailles. He repeated himself over and over again about random things(like wigs). The tour itself felt a little rushed, and I wished we had another hour there, but we knew it would be a quick trip, and we were glad to be able to fit it in at all. The company was well organized, we left on time, and returned on time.

Awe Inspiring Tour! BRING YOUR CAMERA!

The palace was as impressive on the outside as it was on the inside! As we approached the palace, we knew that we were in for an incredible day. Our tour guide met us at the office and 8 of us most comfortably jumped into a new Mercedes tour van. The ride from the office to the Versailles palace took 45 minutes maximum. We parked right outside the main gate and from there our formal tour began. Just walking thru the main gates was breath taking. But, to hear the details of the palace, chapel, stables and gardens from our dedicated guide (whose name I have rudely forgotten) set the stage for our day. The line of people to get into the palace was enough for me to do an about face and head back to Paris. If it weren't for the 'skip the line' feature of this tour, I would have done just that. We got into the palace and left that long line of people behind us. Whew! The palace was beautiful! The architecture was glorious. The size and richness of the rooms that we toured thru was extraordinary. The Hall of Mirrors was everything that I've read about. In short...the palace inside and outside was magnificent. If I had one comment to make on a negative side...I wish that we had more time to visit the breath taking gardens that sat behind the Palace. We were given 30 minutes to see the gardens. But realizing the sheer size of the Palace grounds and not wanting to be late for the van's departure back to Paris, we had but a few minutes to see a small portion of the gardens before we had to head back to the van. Another 30 - 45 minutes to walk through the gardens would have been perfect. Please consider taking this tour if you are coming from Paris. Having a private tour guide explaining the inner secrets of the palace along with being transported from Paris and being able to skip that mind numbing line of people waiting to get into the palace is well worth your investment of time and resources. We met up with our tour guide in Paris at 8 AM and we were dropped off at the same location in Paris that we met up with the tour guide. We were back at the tour office around 1 PM. Fabulous half day of touring and a wonderful experience.

Versailles 5 star

We had a wonderful guide, Michelle,who was very informed and we zipped right thru the line. The bus was right on time both directions. A magnificent experience. I highly recommend it.

Takes Versailles Up a Notch

Oliver was an excellent guide that absolutely enriched this experience for us. I have been to Versailles before, but reading the descriptions in each room did not place the palace in context from a human, historic, or political point of view. Oliver’s tour did all of this in an engaging, never lecturing way. Versailles is always extravagant and eye-popping, but with Oliver’s expert guidance it was also fascinating.

Incredible!

The Paintings, History, Architecture, Beauty, and Gardens were incredible! The palace was enormous and had a story to tell with each and every room.

Not worth the price

Was not worth the money. essentially was a taxi ride to Versailles with a very short tour of the palace and then you are left on your own for to wander around the gardens for an hour. I would recommend getting yourself to Versailles and then hiring an experienced Tour Guide there.

Must See

Micheal was very knowledgeable about Versailles , they took us there in comfortable van with only a small group . He also got us in first , before the line with no guide , it is so overwhelming seeing all the paintings and other collections. Then get to see the enormous gardens , its a must see with this Tour Operator. Thank You

History of Versailles

Michèle, our guide made this experience. I was really wanted to see Versailles but was nervous about the crowds. Michèle gave us a brief history of the palace on our way to Versailles, (as well as pointing out other places of interest). We found ourselves well prepared to view the Palace. We were expertly guided through the rooms and halls we barely noticed the crowds. I highly recommend Michèle and the tour.

Expert tour of an amazing feat of architecture and artistry

Our guide for this tour was absolutely amazing. She fit so much insight and many great stories into the tour - by far the best tour I’ve taken, and she had thoughtful and entertaining answers to all our questions. I’d highly recommend! I’d have liked a little longer to wander round the gardens, but overall a 10/10 experience.

The whole tour was an excellent experience. Michael, our guide, was quite knowledgeable of the history and expressed the knowledge with intimate detail along with being very engaging, thoughtful, courteous and professional. Give that guy a promotion!

Versailles Tour

Our guide was very knowledgeable about Versailles, its history and French history generally. She explained the architecture, paintings, furniture and attire in a very fulsome way.

Worth the extra for this

Excellent guide, nice mini bus made for a great tour. She really knew her stuff. Driver was able to avoid the traffic jams, got us there quicker than others and we beat some of the crowds.

Poor pre trip experience

Please contact me for direct feedback. Very disappointed missed our trip due to being 12 minutes late due to an Uber car accident.

Tour good, transport not so much

The tour part itself was good, prior to the tour the guide had us walking back and forth across the cobblestone, it seemed like he was killing time. Then we go to the entrance and he had us wait outside for 10 minutes while he went in and got the tickets..couldn’t that have been done while we were scouting the exits? (Seriously he showed us how to exit repeatedly) when it was time to go we spent 20 minutes past our departure time sitting in the hot minibus (it was blowing warm air) while the driver and tour guide chatted with people outside. Even worse, the air conditioning was not working for most of the trip back and it was very warm, I was physically ill by the time we got off the hot bus.

Fabulous tour guide for Versailles and the Louvre

We were fortunate to have Oliver as our guide for Versailles and the Louvre. Having a guide with an MA degree from the Sorbonne and 28 years as a guide, was a wonderful experience. His knowledge of European art and history made for two fabulous days of learning for my wife and I. Peter and Deirdre McGregor

Terrible customer service

We had a medical emergency the morning of our trip and had to go to the local hospital. We asked the tour operator to move our tour to the next day and showed proof of medical emergency. All we got was the “not within 24 hours”. Unacceptable customer servicd

Disappointed

Our tour guide was very hard to understand when he spoke English, did not provide many facts or anecdotal stories about the palace or the royals. Terribly disappointed.

Time saver and hassle free

Honestly this is a great way to see Versailles if you want a hassle free experience because it includes transportation from Paris and back. We met the tour guide at their travel office near the Eiffel Tower at 8:45 a.m. We then got in a luxury van straight to Versailles and did a short tour of approx 2 hours then back to Paris by 12:30. Perfect if you just want to get the highlights with minimal walking and trying to figure things out. Versailles is beautiful and totally worth it. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging.

Versailles

The tour guide was very knowledgeable. I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because it seemed hurried through the first part of the tour. We did hit the main parts. The second part of the tour was free time -- which I liked -- in the gardens for about 45 minutes. All in all the tour, not including travel time, was less than 2 hours. We only had 6 in our group which was excellent. The gardens were beautiful, and we probably could have spent another hour or two just roaming the grounds. I'm not the type of person who needs to see every nook and cranny of places. So if you are, a longer tour may be better for you, but I definitely liked the convenience of having transportation provided. The directions for pickup/drop-off were precise and easy to find. The small bus clean and the driver and guide polite.

Beautiful and historical

The views are amazing! Steph, our tour guild did a wonderful job of covering the history while keeping it entertaining and interesting! The gardens are beautiful, however it was April and chilly therefore Fountains were not yet on.

Great day at Versailles

Michelle, tour guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job taking the group to less crowded areas for discussions of each hall or room.

My experience with this tour!

I booked the ticket to Versailles on Saturday 13:15. First I had a taxi drove me to the meeting point at the travel office in Paris. From the office the driver drove me from the office to Versailles in 45 minutes. That time was 2 o’clock. The driver told me he will meet me at the parking lot at 16:30. I met a guy who showed me to the group of people who were there with the live- guided. The live-guided super nice and he took us passed the security gate. We reached the entrance and that was 14:30. At. 15:15 I finished the tour. The tickets included the garden, total cost is €22. I paid $181 for the tour In 3 hours 15 minutes from Paris to Versailles. Ended up I called the Uber driver to get me back to Paris. I really couldn’t do it from 13:15-16:30! Can you do it, please??? Would you think it’s worth it please ??? I’ll leave this answer to you all!!! By the way, one star for tourist front desk, one for the driver and one for the tourist guide! Thank you guys!!

Amazing Tour Guide

The guide was exceptional. Understood Art history and history. (2 of us were history majors!). Well paced, kept us moving through the crowds and free time in the gardens. Amazing. No lines. Have been in 3 tours of versailles. This was the best by far!!!

A great excursion.

Gardens very disappointing

The gardens were very disappointing and the description regarding the garden tour needs to be greatly revised. The gardens currently are totally ripped up and under heavy renovation so there isn't anything to see. There should be a discounted price because of this. None of the fountains were on. The king's chamber is also under renovation so you aren't able to view any of that so that needs to be revised. Our tour operator was excellent and did a great job describing different things to look at in the castle.

Excellent value

We’ll run outfit. Very organized and prompt. Ricardo was very personable and knowledgeable. Would definitely book again. Only issue was not enough time. Book the all-day tour.

Well worth it for more info and a hassle-free trip

It was lovely having a private guided tour of Versailles. I have been in the past with larger groups and not having to wait at all was outstanding. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and it was very nice hearing history in addition to being able to tour some of the main areas.

The best way to go!

Loved our tour guide. Very informative. Front row parking and skip the line access. We left Paris from convenient meeting spot. The van was comfortable. Only 4 people on the tour

Wonderful guided experience at Versailles.

Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. It was my 14 year old son and I and another couple. We went on the 8:15 am tour which I recommend because the palace was not so crowded when we first got there. Though it quickly got crowded but the tour guide was able to easily manuver us through the crowds. Well worth the money and a must see if you've never visited Versailles.

Worker strike prevented this from being great

Our guide was great. Unfortunately the workers at Versailles went on strike. We had to wait longer than expected. Then we had to rush through the presentation. Seeing the building was amazing but due to the strike it was a rushed visit. Our guide allowed us to visit the town for about an hour before we went to th castle.

Great morning at Versailles

We opted for the small group, skip the lines, tour of Versailles with transportation from Paris. There were 8 of us and our guide, Olivier. I find I learn so much more and appreciate more what I'm seeing when touring with a guide. Olivier was great! He gave us a history lesson while keeping us interested by telling us stories of past royalty once living at Versialles that one might never hear. It was truly great fun!

The tour of the palace...

The tour of the palace was fine. We had a nice tour guide who showed us the highlights. Sadly the Chapel and King’s room were closed to visitors. Our disappointment was that the trip from Paris to Versailles is close to an hour and the time could have been well spent by the guide explaining the history of the Palace etc. The guide did not speak at all. Perhaps it is the policy of the company and he is not to blame.

Impressive Day at the Palace of Versailles

My family and I had a wonderful time learning about the history of the Palace of Versailles. He also incorporated information about US leaders who learned from France as they were building our country.

Over Extravagant living

The expanse and Opulence is breathtaking, but I always had a thought in the back of my mind, of those thousands of Souls that built it. Hope they were compensated accordingly.

Versailles Tour Guide makes all the difference!

Our guide was truly amazing. The lines were very long (even in February) so it was nice to skip. Versailles was beautiful but we would not have enjoyed it near as much without the history commentary.

Beautiful Versailles—

Jan visit - pouring rain/light snow but tour guide made it the BEST part of our visit to France. He was an art history major—- had more insight to the gorgeous palace than any self moderated tour. Smaller than the Louvre- more intimate and fascinating history. Loved this tour! Been to France multiple times but this tour was unsurpassed. Will bring back rest of family next year and book this first—— will try for spring!

Great Experience

The tour was awesome. Meet up was a breeze and it’s just short drive from the city. It was very, very cold when we went and skipping the line was much appreciated. We stayed with our guide the whole time and she did a wonderful job exposing all the rooms and the history behind the palace. We learned a lot and would definitely recommend to everyone!!!
