Jewish History Walking Tour

We took a fabulous Jewish history walking tour yesterday with Hugo. He was extremely knowledgeable! A walking encyclopedia of the history of France, in particular, the French Revolution. He was patient and took the time to really answer all of our questions. He even let us stop along the way at a famed meringue shop in the Marais. I highly recommend both this tour and our guide, Hugo.

Excellent Tour of Marais District

Our tour guide Tamar was very knowledgeable about history, art and architecture in the Marais District. She also tempted us by pointing out the best food places - we went for the best eclaire ever. Tamar gave us a very pleasant learning experience, a lovely person.

Must do in Paris and ask for Hugo!

You absolutely have to do this walking tour in Paris. It may not be as famous as the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower, but I cannot stress enough how amazing it was. We were fortunate enough to have Hugo as our guide for the second time, and his knowledge was truly impressive. It was such a intellectually enlightening experience. Huge shoutout to Hugo and Babylon for a fantastic job! If you're planning a trip to Paris, you have to go with Babylon as your tour company.

Michele was an excellent tour guide who showed us hidden treasures and beautiful places as he taught us the history and culture of the Marais. He was easy going, funny, and very knowledgeable. We would re immense this tour highly!

Interesting new area of Paris to discover

Hugo was a great guide. The tour was comprehensive and Hugo put the history of the Marais and of Parisian Jews in very good historical perspective. I would definitely recommend Hugo as a guide and Babylon Tours in general.

Not tourist districts of Paris but still should be seen

Amazing tour. Agustina was so knowledgeable and shared this so openly- we learnt a lot. Helped that had done French Revolution tour prior as so much linked in. The 3 areas just flowed so well and for a history buff this tour is a must.

We began our journey in the heart of La Marias district, where Matthieu introduced us to the rich history of the area. We strolled through narrow, cobblestone streets, surrounded by charming old buildings. Matthieu's historical anecdotes and architectural insights brought the district to life. Next, we ventured into the Jewish quarter, a place steeped in culture and history. Matthieu's deep understanding of the Jewish heritage in this area was truly impressive. Marais

Our guide gave us lots of great information and was very good. However, we were very interested in the Jewish portion and there wasn’t that much to see.

Francois was an easy to talk to, very informative, very knowledgeable tour guide. He is a wealth of knowledge not just about the area, the buildings and the culture but he knows the history and political landscape of how things came to be the way they are. We would 100% tour with him again.

Le Marais Private tour

Had a lovely morning out in Le Marais with our guide Tamari. She was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the area and Paris in general. We visited many little gems which was off the beaten track. Tamari really immersed us in the history of Paris which made the experience alive for us. It was my wife’s birthday and she made it extra special with even a gift. Would highly recommend this.

Marais and it’s hidden treasures

Loved each of the districts we went to and learned so much! Need to go back and revisit a lot of what we saw as it was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful morning!

No better way to learn about Le Marais than from a real Parisian - Francois was the best

How lucky we were to have Francois showing us around Le Marais. Having a real Parisian walk you around is incredibly special. Francois was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun. We learned so much about Le Marais and his stories made everything so memorable. We enjoyed seeing the Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis, the remnants of the 1190 Philippe Auguste Wall that once surround Paris, and Mémorial de la Shoah, plus all the neighborhoods and sites. He even took us to a boulangerie and taught us how to tell a good one from a not-so-good one. We had a great time with Francois and would love to have him show us around the next time we are back in Paris. Merci Francois.

We were expecting a little more on the Jewish quarter, but it was enjoyable with lots of historical background.

The beauty of Le Marais

What an amazing experience we had in the Marais! Rene’ was an exceptional tour guide and really was the reason why it was so amazing. We learned so much about the history, culture, politics, food… we were able to get a true taste of this district and how it’s plays such an important role in Parisian culture.
