Not worth the $$$$$$$

We found the whole experience overly rated and overly expensive when coming with little children. Firstly we arrived and went to the petting farm, on arrival we were told the little ones could not interact with the rabbit ,Guinea pigs etc as it was Monday and not enough staff. Then we went to goats and donkeys where you can touch but being very careful with donkeys and not to mention goats who actually started chewing and ruined my dress, staff member didn’t seem to care. We then went to birds which is not really toddler friendly, and except for gardens that’s about it for kids. The whole experience which was initiated as a kids experience cost $187.00 and the biggest waste of $$$$$ I have spent as a kids day.would not go again and would not recommend to anyone with toddlers as an experience

Perfect - Don’t change

A weekend away and decided to finally come and visit, and it was everything and more. I had hand raised a concure, and to participate in the aviary/bird show tour, and have such friendly birds of all varieties, free interact with us, was superb. The knowledgeable tour guide was a delight to have us guide us thru the different habitats and know all the birds by name was amazing. All I can say is please don’t change, and become like Australia zoo, commercialised and hand out for every little thing. This place you have developed is perfect and wouldn’t change it for the world. Thankyou to all the absolutely fantastic staff.

Beautiful Botanic Gardens in Maleny along with Great Aviary Experience

Really fun experience located in gorgeous Maleny with picturesque views and beautiful botanic gardens. We really enjoyed walking through the aviary, and seeing lots of different birds, that all appeared healthy and happy. The food was okay, but wasn't the attraction in the first place.

Friendliest birds we've ever seen

Amazing experience - we were blown away by how friendly the birds were. They came and sat on us and others and were really charming. An unforgettable experience. The miniature farm animals were really cute and friendly too. And the gardens has stunning views of the Glasshouse mountains. A day well spent!

Excellent day trip

Everyone who worked here was lovely! The bird tour was great and the views are amazing. I’d definitely recommend hiring a golf cart to get around if you want to see all of the gardens.

Must do list

I went to this place 10yrs ago. The gardens were small. Today the gardens are fantastic. Views are superb. Set up for anyone. Golf carts available for the ones who find walking a challenge. Bird aviaries well set out and the birds are outstanding. Recommend this on anybody's must do list. Stephen.

This is NOT a Botanical Garden

We were excited to tour the Botanical Gardens. $22.00 per person plus $45.00 for 1 hour buggy hire (we were told it was hilly). There are no gardens, we were shocked, it looks like they might have begun to develop gardens but stopped and it is now overgrown, covered in weeds with a few dirty ponds with water lillies. When we returned to reception I asked where the gardens were in case we had missed a turn, I said I expected to see garden beds with labelled plants and trees for our education but was told "anything can be called a botanical garden". This is not a Botanical Garden and they should be ashamed to be taking people's money. We did not tour the bird aviary.

a beautiful gem of the Sunshine Coast

This place is simply amazing!!! I travel to this park all the way from the Gold Coast because I like it so much!!!! You can immediately see how much resources, time, and care have been invested into this park! The views and beauty of this place are breathtaking; you can see the Glass House Mountains from any point in the park. So many flowers, shrubs, native wildlife - I'm just thrilled! I've been going to this park for 2 years now, and every time I leave for home - with a bunch of lasting impressions and great photos! I highly recommend this park - a beautiful gem of the Sunshine Coast.

Family day

It was a beautiful day and our family had a great time. We really enjoyed the birds such vibrant colours and more importantly the birds are well looked after as are all the animals. We hire golf buggies which I would recommend. The food was delicious. We met the owner Frank and his dog Shadow. Lovely man and dog. All in all a great day.

Maleny's hidden gem...worth the find.

Sadly, council does not provide easy to find, sign posts to this iconic place. It is certainly worth the visit. Buggies are available for the aged or impaired who are unable to manage the walk back up the hill, it is rather steep. Spectacular views all round. Also, unfortunately, it costs to get in. But it's worth it. Lush sub tropical vegetation along with wild life. The bird sanctuary is part of the experience...an extra cost. A well stocked cafe/shop is a welcome come-back-to, when the walk is over.

Flying dream

The place is awesome and the birds are beautiful. The playground is very fun! WE Loved it! I found my favourite bird !!!!!

Had a wonderful experience loved the birds, the location, the views, the staff, the free animal farm, the chickens mini donkeys and other farm animals.

Worth a day trip from Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast

Really loved our 3-4 hours spent here. The drive up is scenic and ample opportunites for photos of the glass mountains in the park itself. The bird experience was the highlight where all of our party got to hold several birds each. Food and coffee was ok. We enjoyed our walk around the many levelled gardens.

Animals loved my husband!

We had a great few hours, the birds in bird tour were all friendly, the black cockatoo was super friendly.

Fun and different day out

Loved seeing all the different colourful birds and learning abt their personalities and quirks and having the experience of them landing on our heads and shoulders . Can be hard to hear the tour leader at times . Was a rainy day but still enjoyed the views and coffee in the rotunda and driving around the gardens in the buggy

Beautiful views

Views were amazing. Well set out - lots of walking, you can hire a buggy if you don't want to walk the steep hills. Loved the birds. Cafe food is okay - reasonable price

Best place for teenagers to enjoy interaction with wonderful birds!

Most beautiful birds garden!!! They will land on your shoulder. Do not wear earrings and clothes with buttons. The birds will eat the buttons off your clothes!!

A gem just an hour away from Brissie

Had such a fun time at the guided experience through the aviary! Lots of laughter, pics and memories. The gardens were beautiful and not to mention the views of the glasshouse mountains

Beautiful garden and not so good bird world experience

The gardens are amazing, but the bird world tour was very boring, and the angry lady who was representing the birds was there to disclipline us not to wecome the visitors. She made me and my two little boys feel bad with the was she talked to us.

Early rather than Later in the day as it was warming up by elevenish and we liked to walk it

Unexpectedly found a member of our group had a phobia about birds landing on her, however the guide was great and the feather duster an excellent idea. Early days for roses and those weeds were popping up. We would have liked better labelling other than the shop tag which becomes unreadable. Scones were nice and fluffy

Great family morning out.

Great morning out with the family. Staff were excellent. We’ve been twice now in the last 2 years. First time no petting zoo. This time they have a petting zoo which is great for the kids. Hiring the golf buggy for a hr to drive around to look at the gardens saved walking up the hills with tired kids.

The birds were great would be better if we could also feed the birds to so that the birds want to interact with us as well as the tour guide obviously not the really big birds. But still a good experience.

We thought this was fantastic the girl that informed us about the birds was great but we thought she should have some kind of loudspeaker because if you were at the back you could hardly hear her

A Totally Birdalicious and Plantastic Oasis

Saw it on trip advisor and thought this looks fun…. And it was👏🥳. My partner and I took my parents for the day, Dad being almost 95, we found the venue accessible and the staff helpful and welcoming. The parrot aviaries being the highlight, so many stopped by to say hello and frisk us for snacks or buttons😱😂🤣. Afterwards we hired a buggy and toured the gardens which were both extensive and impressive all with these scenic backdrop of the glasshouse mountains. I would definitely recommend visiting this totally Birdalicious and plantastic oasis.

Visit during the week rather than a weekend

I visited here on a Sunday and with hindsight visiting during the week when the schools are not on holiday would be better. You have to book a timed slot for the aviary and it all felt very rushed. And crowded. You have to have a timed guided tour through the aviary and unfortunately the person leading the tour was more interested in fooling around putting birds on people’s heads than giving information about the birds. The aviary contains many Australian birds, but also parrots and macaws from Africa and South America. Some are rescues as people realise they don’t make great pets. I would have liked to find out more information about the Australian birds rather than take selfies with one sitting on my head. It’s the reason I don’t like zoos really. However the gardens themselves are fantastic. I rented a buggy as they are set on quite a steep hillside. From the top of the hill where the reception and cafe is you can see the Glass Mountains. The plants and ponds are great, someone has obviously gone to great lengths to build the gardens up. Even though it was winter, it was easy to see how much work had gone into the gardens, and the magnolia trees were in bloom and fantastic. I was surprised to read that they were only opened in 2012 having been started in 2005. Right at the bottom of the hill are a couple of interesting rock formations. There is also a petting zoo for anyone who has children with them, containing domesticated animals such as donkeys, goats and guinea pigs. The cafe is also quite good. If I go back it will be a week day.

Fun Family Adventure

An amazing day out that would suit all people, children, adults & elders folks as well. We loved being able to access the gardens in buggy’s on extremely well set out paths. The gardens were gorgeous with beautiful views overlooking valleys and mountains. We found the aviary experience to be a lot of fun and it was such a treat to be up close and personal with the exotic birds. The guide was very informative and made sure everyone had a photo with the birds. I would recommend allowing a whole day here as there is a lot to see and there are options for morning tea or lunch available. Well worth the visit and great value for money.

Great job, melva

This place and it's grounds are amazing. I found Melva refreshing as she puts the animals and their welfare first. It's so great to see that when so often animals are mistreated. Can't wait to come back.

Thoroughly enjoyable morning

We walked the gardens, visited the minuture farm animals, and took the aviary tour. Everyone working was friendly and pleasant. Aviary : Amazing experience. We booked the 9.30 session and were a group of 5. The guide through the aviary was friendly, knowledgeable, and had a lovely way with the birds. Overall, it was an incredible experience that I'd definitely do again. I will note the group after us (the 10.00 session was noticeably larger). Farm : Just cute. So cute. Gardens : Visiting during winter, it was still visually stunning (the rose garden was amazing). There are lots of nice shady spots to picnic in.

Best kept animal experience just north of Brisbane

This is my second visit to the gardens and bird aviaries. When I visited a few years ago, the bird aviaries were great but I was disappointed with the gardens. It is clearly under better management because this time, the gardens were just fantastic - such an improvement in a few short years. The birds were just as great with a couple of new experiences thrown in - a small bird experience outside the large aviaries and a petting zoo with very cute goats and miniature donkeys.

A Wonderful Experience Worth Repeating!

A wonderful experience worth repeating! A rare opportunity to be so close to some fabulous birds, some of which are now rare in the wild. Our guide Melva was marvelous, teaching us about the birds, making sure both the people and birds stayed safe and ensured everyone the opportunity of having a bird on their head. Melva evidently overheard that is was my daughter's birthday, as she perched 3 Macaws onto her, announced it was her birthday and had all sing happy birthday, making for an exceptional (and embarrasing!) moment which my daughter will well remember! This was a beautiful gesture from Melva, which I am sure is beyond the normal expectations of her role. The farms animals are also worth a visit, along with wandering and resting amongst the beautiful gardens and taking in the expansive view from the lookout. Buggys are available to hire for driving around the gardens if walking is not appealing. Reasonably priced souvenirs plus food and drinks are also available. We will certainly be back to visit again.

Bird sanctuary

Lots of different birds with friendly interactions. Chris was a great guide, full of fun, energy and knowledgable. Highly recommend.

Great way to spend 2-3hrs

Def worth a trip bk to Maleny to do this-super friendly & helpful staff, well laid out gardens with great map to accompany👍. Very kid-friendly with a petting farmyard with mainly people friendly animals-super cute.

A relaxing way to spend a few hours...

Nice to have a walk around gardens, some steep parts, but you can hire electric buggies. There are large bird enclosures where you walk thru with a guide. Birds are very noisy, so it was hard to hear the guide. Many birds come and sit on your shoulder or head. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Not sure if I would want to go during the weekend or school holiday time, would be too busy for me.

Worth the price for the Aviary visit.

The Aviary tour was the highlight. The birds are impressive and will sit on your arm and sometimes your head so be prepared. The gardens are nice to walk around.

Amazing - highly recommend

Had the most lovely experience. The two girls that led us through the aviary (in particular the lovely one with the nose piercing) were incredibly informative. I’m very scared of birds but they made me feel incredibly safe and were so encouraging. The gardens were beautiful and the hot choc was yummy. Loved scratching the belly of the pig. Anyway highly recommend

A great place to visit in Maleny

This place is amazing for a day out with kids or young teens. I highly recommend doing the tour of the aviary. It is really informative and you get the chance to hold amazing birds. My small one loved it. The farm is also a must have donkey ponies rabbits all super friendly.

A must do experience

We did the aviary tour in a very small group of 5. It was amazing. Great experience being so close to such an array of beautiful birds. The guide was very informative. The birds were very inquisitive and most were happy to land on you. A wonderful experience that will definitely leave you smiling

A must to do on the Sunshine Coast.

The botanical garden is wonderful but surpassing this is the enormous Avery. Our guide was fantastic and to actually stand amongst all the birds was truly incredible. Lunch was excellent and for us the hire of a golf buggy to go round the gardens was a high spot. The gardens are amaying with incredible views of the Glasshouse Mountains. They are situated on a steep slope so the buggy is a wonderful way to get around.

Such an amazing experience! Definitely recommend going into the aviary! The guide we had (Jess) was so good and really made sure every single person in there got to hold birds and made sure no one missed out. Would recommend so much!
