Amazing day in the Yarra Valley!

We had a wonderful experience with Sara from Hop it. Prior to our visit, I asked for recommendations . She came up with very nice suggestions. We went to: - Punt Road: they have a lot of Fujis and Gala Apple, so you can also taste their cider, not only the wines! - Chandon: I am not a big fan of sparkling but I really wanted to visit this commercial winery. Actually I wasn’t disappointed : the view is amazing and the place is very nice! A must in my opinion, even if it’s more crowded compared to other wineries. - Tokar estate: we had the wine x chocolate pairing, perfect after lunch at Chandon ! - Dominique Portet: we had the best tasting experience there, because the staff was really amazing ! They really take the time to explain and spend time with you. Thanks again Sara!

Awesome Hop It wine tour

Great selection of wineries in the Yarra Valley. I went to Coombe, Helen & Joey, Yarrawood(had lunch there) and Balgownie. Very well organised trip by Sara and Jon! Splendid weather on the day. Overall, a great day out!

A Great Day Out

We had a marvellous time on our Green Route trip of the wineries in the Yarra Valley . The instructions were clear and everything worked like clockwork . Our driver was fun and knowledgable about the different Cellar Doors we visited . Would definitely recommend .

A highly recommended day tour of the Yarra Valley

This is highly recommended. Jon and his wife have an excellent formula to visit Yarra Valley. It was well organized and professional and good value for money. We did the Green route and loved all four options we chose including 2 wine estates and a dairy and an apple farm. What a wonderful experience.

A Great Day Out

A great day out. Well organised, punctual and our guide/driver John was excellent. It’s a very easy way to explore the Yarra Valley, and surprisingly fit a lot in over the day. We visited 4 wineries and included lunch and the day is spaced out well. Thank you John and the team at Hop It.

The Only Way to Tour the Yarra Valley!

Wish I could give Hop It a 10* Score - they were so brilliant we traveled with them on back-to-back days! The trip to the Yarra Valley was the first. Very convenient/central pick-up location in Melbourne (@ Grand Hyatt); small group tour which is always a plus. Steve, our driver and host, was such an interesting person and kept us on time by communicating efficiently via text message (as well as happily stored our purchases). Sara was excellent at assisting us with recommendations and some of the bookings. She and her husband Jon run a top-notch operation. It is clear that they have invested a lot of time, effort, and thought into the wineries and distilleries they offer on this particular route, and it all results in a smooth decision process for the guest. Even if you have a car while visiting Melbourne, do yourself a favour and simply Hop to It with Jon and his crew - you will be so very glad you did!

SLAY

Steve and John were awesome guides. Made the trip super easy. We sent them the vineyards we wanted to go to and they gave us wine and nibble advice for all of them. They were right on time to drive us everywhere we needed and answered all of our Ps and Qs.

The only way to do it

We had a great time in the Yarra Valley on a beautiful sunny day. Sara was our driver/guide and was very helpful and friendly. We chose Coombe Estate for a tasting ( $15pp but if you bought a bottle of wine you got the tasting for free), Yarrawood Estate for a glass of wine and a cheeseboard out on the lawn with live music, Balgownie Estate for a wine and chocolate pairing tasting (extra $6pp for the chocolate - we bought a couple of bottles of wine and was only charged for one tasting instead of two). Final stop was De Bortoli where we had a glass wine each in the garden as couldn’t face another tasting and preferred to be outside and relaxed. Thoroughly recommend.

Fun trip

Great trip - friendly bunch on the bus with us which made it more fun. All the wineries we visited were very good. Big shout out to Bron at Oakridge - she was awesome. Jon was a great host!

Good Experience

Great service to try out wines in the Yarra Valley while not needing to drive. We opted for the Green Route and the locations as part of the route were great places to stop by. Sara, our driver, was friendly and helpful, and generous with details about the Yarra Valley. The van was clean and comfortable with complimentary bottled water.

Can’t recommend this tour enough

This is my third time on the Hop It tour, and I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough! First two times were with the owner and this time was with Mark and he was amazing! So knowledgeable of the region, very chatty and made us feel very welcome (not to mention a great driver). Great experience everytime!! 10/10

Awesome guide and fun tour

Very lucky to have John as our guide around Yarra Valley. He was so passionate about his job and kept us in very high spirit the whole trip. We visited some vineyards, a dairy farm and a chocolaterie. Overall a highly recommended way to visit Yarra Valley.

Amazing 10/10 recommend

Super friendly and helpful driver Sarah made sure everyone got where they wanted to go and had the best experience possible. A nice small group so we didn’t crowd the stops we went to and overall a fabulous and lovely day even travelling solo I met some lovely people and as a backpacker this allowed me to spend less than on the full arranged tours.

Great experience, highly recommend

I recently explored the Yarra Valley (Green Route) with Hop It, and would highly recommend using them if you are interested in exploring this region at your own pace and without the hassle of driving. As someone who enjoys wine, but was also keen to see other things in the area, the Green Route was perfect me. I was able to visit wineries along with the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Dairy, and because of the hop-on hop-off system, I was able to plan my schedule in advance and make sure nothing felt rushed. All in all a great experience, made even better by Sara who was super friendly and accomodating:)

Great day in the Yarra Valley

Sara was a fantastic host. She drove us safely, was friendly, courteous and informative. We got to have four great stops of our choosing. We stopped at 3 wineries and the chocolaterie. This was a great, easy and inexpensive way to visit the Yarra Valley in a day trip from Melbourne.

Great Yarra Valley Tour

Yarra Valley is a great place to visit, and this tour is a great option for people who want some freedom on their itinerary but are unable to self-drive. Jon was friendly and funny and had a lot of information and recommendations on the various wineries/locations. Was a great experience and would recommend it to friends

Must Do!

Everything about this adventure and day was PERFECT! From the booking experience, the ongoing communications, the easy pick up in the city, the winery options, the duration of time at each winery, and the advice from our guide Jon made this such a great experience. The winery options are fantastic and the tasting rooms have a great relationship with Hop On Hop Off. Definitely something to do when in Melbourne. Value for $ can’t be beat.

Amazing experience!

Hop It was such a great way to spend the day! We saw 4 stunning wineries in the Yarra Valley and spent at least an hour at each. Sara and John were perfect hosts, they were so nice and had lots of information to provide about the valley and things to do/places to see in Melbourne for tourists on the bus. Couldn't recommend it more highly!

Very highly recommend!

Me and my friend had a fantastic day travelling with John visiting 4 wineries part of Shedfest! We visited Yering Farms, Fin, Sutherland Estate and Steel's Gate. It was a very personalised service and from the get-go John made sure he knew where we wanted to go and see. We also loved that he knew lots of information about the wineries from the history to the best wines to try! It was a super easy way to get around the Yarra Valley and you had about an hour at each place which was a good amount of time to do a tasting and have a snack if you choose. We never felt rushed. We had the return to CBD drop off with Sarah driving who was also really lovely (and didn't mind us having a little nap on our way into the city). I'd very highly recommend using Hop It, and their outstanding customer service was definitely a huge part of making our day at Shedfest great!

Best Day Out

The whole day was amazing, Sarah was our driver and made everything feel relaxed and super easy. Not only were we always on time for all our bookings but she also offered to pick us up early or let her know if there is anything else we need! Will definately be booking again.

Great Yarra Valley experience

The tour has well curated stops to suit the preferences of a broad range of wine-lovers and travellers, making it very suitable for my family which wants to experience what the region has to offer. We chose a chocolaterie , an established large winery where we had a nice set lunch, and a boutique winery where we had the good fortune of being hosted by the owner himself for a wine tasting session. Jon, our driver and guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wineries and the region, and provided lots of interesting nuggets of information on Yarra Valley. A very enjoyable and educational trip!

Everything about hop it was amazing. They make it so easy for you during the day, all we had to worry about was having fun! Good price for what you get and Jon even let us turn the ride home into a karaoke, which made the ride back so quick! Friendly service, I would use again .

A brilliant service!

Hop It is such an outstanding service. It's half the price of most other wine tours, with exponentially more flexibility. Jon and Sara are wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable, and treat their guests with the utmost care. I've hopped on the bus several times now, and I'm going to continue to do so. It's a cost-effective way to explore a wine region in depth (if you return multiple times) or develop your own bespoke wine tour (if you visit just once). I would - and have - recommend Hop It to anyone even the tiniest bit interested in wine. (And if you're not interested in wine? Because of the flexibility, you could go to the chocolaterie or the gin distillery or any number of places. There are so many options and you truly can design the trip you want.)

Choose your own adventure

Excellent way to go wine (or beer and/or gin) tasting in the Yarra Valley without having to worry about your sober driver, leaving conveniently from the central city. Sara was a friendly and reliable driver. Loads of great vineyards and other places to stop for food, drinks and art along the way - as long as you book in advance! We’ll definitely do this again.

Outstanding!

The flexibility of this relaxed tour is excellent. You get provided with a timetable ahead of the day so you can plan the route to your tastes. Jon is a fun and interactive guide - we especially liked his nuggets of information regarding the local area and his knowledge of the history behind the venues we attended. We went as a couple to the Yarra Valley, visiting Coombe Estate, Mandala Wines (great pizza), Steel's Gate, Payton & Jones and Watts River Brewery, all of which were great. It's worth mentioning we also went as a group on the Mornington Peninsula trip, which was fantastic - there's a reason we went back and did it again! Can't recommend this trip enough.

Fab service, amazing value

Took the Hop It bus around the Yarra Valley when my parents were visiting from the U.K, definitely picked the best one! Great communication, organisation and spot on choice of stop offs. We will back onboard as soon as this crazy life is over! Karly & Martin :-)

This was the best day! Jon was a fantastic guide, love that we weren’t stuck with wineries we weren’t interested in, we could make our own decisions and Jon gave great advice. Friendly, informative and no pressure guide. Loved it and would definitely recommend to everyone. Thanks guys

The wine

We had a great day today with Jon showing us around the Yarra Valley. We had decided on our stops prior to attending however we’re keen to see some of the smaller wineries so Jon gave us some great recommendations. Such a good way to see this area of Victoria and I love that everyone can have a drink and still safely get home!! Amazing job guys :)

Yarra Valley Tour de Force

This is truly a premier experience. Jon, the Welsh head honcho of Hop It Melbourne, has created a fantastic immersive experience of the Yarra valley and his intimate knowledge of the area proves that he is a bonafide Melbournian now! He guided us geographically and spiritually through our day out. The wines and food were delicious and he was extremely accommodating; I would recommend this to any locals and holiday-makers Down Under and to Victoria - it will be one of the best days of your vacation! wow! we had an amazing day in the Yarra Valley. I received a phone call during the week to see which stops we would like to stop at, I was unable to decide between two wineries and they provided additional information to help make the decision. Sarah and Jon are very knowledgeable about the local wineries and are the excellent tour guides. Jon collected us in the city and from the off he was entertaining and an superb host. We met lovely people on the bus, the group is nice and small, very personal. The tour was punctual and well organised. Service and friendly banter from Jon made the day and I will definitely book another hop-it tour and recommend them to a friend.

Great Day in the Yarra Valley!

We had such an awesome day with Hop It! The service from Jon was out of this world. He has extensive knowledge of the area and is happy to help and make suggestions for you. Convenient pick up from CBD and amazing stops in the Yarra Valley. It was an extremely hot day when we went and even though we didn’t mind walking to/from a few stops in Healesville, Jon kept checking up on us and making sure we were fine and willing to come And pick us up whenever we needed. Can’t wait to do this again.

The best Hop On service in Melbourne!

What a great day!! Jon took us to the Mornington Peninsula for a wine/beer/rum tour and it was amazing! Jon and Sara are lovely and they gave us A+ customer service with a side of really bad dad-jokes #Jon He gave us many tips and information about stops that would suit us I can't recommend this tour enough, you will love it and it's totally worth it.

Lovely couple and local service!

I was expecting a very commercialised hop on/off service like the ones in the city, so I was very surprised with the amount of character and personalisation this service offered. The bus can only hold 15 passengers, so you should book early (as they are always full) and you don’t have to deal with noisy and loud tourists. Jon and Sara (the owners) are such a lovely couple! We’ve had the pleasure of having them as our drivers on separate occasions. We love their service so much that we had them for 3 days! Jon even gave us extra time on one stop when he noticed the food service was slow. Very initiative and thoughtful! We will definitely use their service when we are back in town, the price is definitely worth it. Both Jon and Sara are very entertaining, good drivers and they take care of your wellbeing. Rest assured you’re going to have a good time with them!

Would give Hop-It 6 stars but Trip Advisor won't let me...

The Hop-It experience was honestly the best! Jon was so lovely, friendly and super easy to get along with. He gave us great recommendations to maximise our winery experience and did not let us down. Will definitely be back on the Hop-It bus in the future.
