Incredibly beautiful

This is our first time visiting a cave and Josh, our guide, made it a very pleasant and memorable one. He was funny and explained very clearly on the different formations… big plus was he took v pretty pictures for us. The sinkhole entry may seem daunting initially but there were a few sections to the stairs and hence a little a time allowed us to get accustomed . Once into the cave, its a whole new world - incredibly beautiful! There are a few caves in the area. This is apparently the most beautiful but deep - 62meters or 325 steps down.

Great tour

The guide was great with the introductory. Cave experience was good. Managed to capture plenty of photos. Location was easy to find with ample parking space

I think a cave not to be missed.

I have visited caves in the past and thought it may be interesting. However, it was much more than that with some truly magnificent formations as one went further into the cave - and more steps! The guide was very informative as well as making the tour interesting. There was also no restriction on taking photos so I came away feeling very pleased. I would certainly recommend this tour.

Enjoyed

One of a number of caves in the area, we joined the escorted tour of this cave. It is a lovely, single chamber cave which you traverse for 85m: there is water present in the cave and a considerable number of formations to view. The entrance is at the bottom of a large sinkhole which requires quite a few steps down stairs to access. Guides are knowledgeable and entertaining: admission is reasonably priced with seniors discounts applying.

It was absolutely mesmerising and amazing! The guide, Lily was incredible with her knowledge, friendliness and professionalism, also very patient.

Excellent cave to explore

Beautiful cave, lake full and stunning. Informative and interesting guide. 300+ steps into and out of cave, but can take time to navigate. Highly recommend

Spectacular, Amazing,Awesome.

The experience was spectacular, entering the cave was out of this world. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Lake Cave also very passionate. I would recommend this tour.

Lake cave experience

Amazing natural cave, great tour guide very informative answered all our questions. Very surreal at the end when the guide switched off all the lights and the tour experienced pitch black in the cave. Best part!

Cave with a lake view just stunning

The drive from Albany was well worth the 4 and a half hours to visit this beautiful cave. Although not the largest cave we have visited, this cave with a slow running stream (lake) was stunning. The suspended table of limestone was a feature but there were many stalagmites, stalactites, straws, shawls and columns that put on a stunning display. The journey down into the cave meant 700 steps down and back but it was well worth the effort. We’d highly recommend seeing this unique cave.

A Perfect Tour for Us

This was an educational and visibly stunning tour. The age of where we stood (or climbed down then up) was awe inspiring. The photos speak for themselves. Greg clearly knows his stuff and you have to be impressed that he and the other guides navigate those steps multiple times a day. The steps are quite manageable though. The 1 hour length of the tour was perfect for us, and we appreciated the flexibility in shifting our tour time to an earlier hour since our flight to Busselton was almost an hour early. Great tour!

Stunning Lake Cave visit

What a great experience!!! The guide was very clear with her descriptions and the experience was well worth the visit. A stunning experience below ground with the lighting adding to the beauty.

Spectacular and interesting

Really interesting to go under the surface of the earth and witness the spectacular beauty of this cave. Tour guide was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Descend into Lake Cave for a treat!

Booked the 10.40am tour and headed along the Boranup Drive (beautiful!) from Margaret River which only took 20 minutes. We reported to the Reception desk who directed us to our guide, before heading along the walkways to the Cave entrance. For Lake Cave, you have to descend down 300 stairs, firstly on wooden platforms and then metal stairs/walkways as you enter the mouth of the cave. Note - tricky for people with mobility issues. The cave itself is stunning with huge stalagmites hanging from the ceiling. At the time of writing this review the water levels in the cave are currently the highest in decades which means that there are spectacular reflections of the stalagmites and straws in the water - bonus! There is also a unique Suspended Table of calcite which weighs several tonnes and seems to defy gravity as it hovers over the water level - where the cave floor used to be. The guide made sure that we all moved safely around the cave and was very helpful and informative. At the far end of the cave we could sit down whilst watching a light show and seeing the cave illuminated in various colours - very pretty. It took a few stops to climb back up the 300 stairs but there are resting points along the way. There is an amazing view coming out of the cave which they refer to as Nature's Window.

Amazing Experience

Fantastic tour & so fascinating to learn about the history of the cave. Our tour guide Digby was wonderful & made the tour so much more interesting with his fabulous jokes 🤣 loved seeing the water level so high in the lake & also the suspended table.

Just do it!

Excellent guide and a fantastic experience. Locals we spoke to recommended this cave over the others. Well worth it, bu be prepared for a 350 step climb back!

A lake cave to see!

Unique experience, informative, visually breathtaking, and fun.

Love the 'suspended table' and other beautiful formations, and the drip, drip, drip sound - especially when the lights were turned off to experience the cave in almost total darkness. The guide was kind and knowledgeable. Also, hearing about how the cave was initially discovered and explored left me in awe. Thanks to the team there. :)

Spectacular Cave

This is our third cave in Margaret River and would have to be the most spectacular. 325 stairs up and down but as a couple in our 60s we didn’t have any problems. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would highly recommend a visit to this cave

I really enjoyed this tour. The guide was knowledgeable and it was really good to hear the history of the cave and it was very beautiful when we were down there. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic Experience

300 or so steps into cave. But worth the effort. What a wonderful exhibition of nature at its best. The only cave with water in it. Active cave. Brilliant display of cave features. Smallest cave but worth the visit. Have done multiple caves in the region and it’s breathtaking. Knowledgeable guide.

Wow! Awesome cave!

Cave was amazing! So incredible to see! A lot of steps down into the cave but well worth it to see the beautiful lake, stalactites and stalagmites! Guide was very knowledgeable and informative and very open to questions too. So glad we visited!

Well worth a visit if you’re in the area. Spectacular cave.

Definitely worth a visit if you have a spare hour or two and are looking for a change from wine tasting . There’s a small museum at the surface and a fairly steep descent into the cave . Guide was very informative and the cave spectacular with awesome lighting. Great photos and a welcome respite from the heat at the surface . Natural air conditioning! Well priced at $24 pp for just over 1 hr visit. Plenty of people visiting so my only suggestion would be they need a small cafe as you need a break after the steep climb back up .

Cool in the cave!

This is a great tour to do if the weather is especially hot as it's very cool down there. The tour guide was great and you have an opportunity to ask questions. There were plenty of times available to take the tour but booking in advance is probably best. Also, this cave has lots of stairs and small entrances to walk through so if your mobility is not great this one is not for you.

Geographical Wonder - A beauty enahnced by lighting

Decided to travel south to escape the summer heat in January. Reached the place around 12:00 PM. The guided tours are the only options and announced every 40 minutes. The tour takes 60 minutes including briefing and climbing up +100 steps. The old caves are maintained and managed well with lighting effects that truly enhances the experience along with scientific explanations by tour guides. Good for children and students.

Must See Cave

This is my favorite cave I've visited. It was beautiful as the water level was higher than its been in a long time. Our tour guide was friendly and able to answer all of our questions! Would definitely recommend visiting this cave.

Magical underground cave lake

Wonderful informative tour. The entrance was pretty impressive. The underground lake was really cool and offered a fresh perspective on caves.

A Cool South West Experience

Fantastic cave a must to visit.

The views inside the cave were great and the experience was made even better with the great lighting. Our guide was knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. You will need to be reasonably fit though as there are 350 steps down and off course 350 up

Amazing experience.

This cave is only small, but still spectacular. Our guide Sally was very informative and the hour went quickly. Lots of stairs so not good for anyone with knee issues. Would definitely recommend. Very happy with Capes Foundation and the ease of booking.

It’s a looooong way down!

The guide was excellent, the cave was stunning. Did take me a bit to get back up the stairs. Loved when it was pitch black and you could hear the drips into the lake.

Amazing cave experience

Amazing 1 hour cave experience well worth doing! It’s easy for fit, young people but there were some older people and those that aren’t as fit that managed fine. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept it interesting. Plenty of time for photos at the end

Lake Cave Beauty

The tour guide was very informative and was very patient with our large group of people. Be prepared to do stairs as there was quite a lot! The cave itself was stunning with many beautiful features to see. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Magical experience

Magicical experience to learn about the caves here in Australia, however do take note that you'll need to climb down and up a fleet of steps (approximately 14 storeys high) just to get to the cave! A word of advice is not to bring any bags along with you so you don't tire yourself even more.

Amazing

Went to Lake Cave today with some friends, I have been here before, but currently the water level in the cave is at its highest level in nearly 70 years. On arrival we were greeted by Johdi who organised our tickets and gave us a quick rundown on the cave and what to expect, 325 stairs each way up and down…. Tour kicked off right on time and our fantastic and thoroughly entertaining guide Digby introduced himself and got us on our way.. with lots of information to share before we even got into the cave. The cave has new lighting since my last visit, all used to great effect 😎 seeing the lake so high was a joy and I encourage you to get there while the level remains high. 10/10 to both Johdi and Digby

Great

I have visited this cave several years ago but wanted the family to have a cave experience and given this is the most popular we picked this one. Our family, 3 small children included, throughly enjoyed the cave. Note that the walk down/up is tiresome if walking is an issue.

The cave was an amazing sight to behold. It was a rather steep climb down and challenging climb back up. But all worth it.

Very interesting

Really enjoyed the cave tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and I found the whole experience very interesting. It was raining the day we went so it was actually a good activity to do on a rainy day

Lake cave with an actual lake!

Loved all the information given on the tour and having the jam packed features/formation of the cave was amazing. Having the lake was an even better bonus
