Fantastic tour of the Prado with an expert who gave a historical perspective to that fine art.

Both my partner and I have advanced degrees in art and have taken several art history courses. Our tour guide Sean delivered the highest level of art history experience. He wove art and history together. He picked us up at our hotel and shepherded us seamlessly into the Prado. He was very knowledgable, enthusiastic and interesting. The Prado is a big place but his tour touched on all the highlights. His stories gave a lot of context to those great works of art. A highlight of our visit to Madrid.

Excellent guide for the Prado

Our group had a fantastic experience with our guide Enrique…he was super knowledgeable, charismatic and focused. He provided excellent context for viewing the treasures of the Prado by giving us a background on the development of perspective by Van der Weyden and then symbolism used by Bosch before launching the group into the masters of Italian renaissance and mannerist schools and finally the cream of the crop of brilliant Spanish masters. His discussion of the works of El Greco, Velasquez, Ribera and others was poignant. He covered so much ground and gave us all a more keen appreciation for the development of Spanish art.

Great tour

Enrique is great. He is so knowledgeable about art history and the Prado. We did a walking tour to the museum and learned a lot of Madrid history.

Best tour guide ever!

Our tour guide, Enrique, was waiting for at our hotel in Madrid. The tour began immediately out of the hotel lobby, enroute to the Prado Museum. The Prado is magnificent. I've never seen so many brilliantly glowing works of art. Whomever cleans the paintings deserves 5 stars. Our guide, Enrique's excitement and knowledge about the art was absolutely spellbinding. Paintings we would have walked past with just a glance, were explained, highlighted, and shown from different angles to see hidden gems. When we left, after 3 mesmerizing hours, my husband and I were just as thrilled by the Prado's exquisite art as we were by our wonderful guide Enrique.

Our guide, Eva, was fantastic! She made the paintings come alive. The 3 hours just flew by. We had a teenager in our group and she thought this tour was the highlight of the trip.

Knowledgeable Guide

Excellent private tour of the Prado Museum. Enrique, our guide, met us at our hotel & as we walked to the museum gave us a mini tour of Madrid. At the museum, he spent quality time with us in explaining the important pieces of the museum. Many times, he suggested we view a piece of art from several angles. We learned a lot.

An excellent experience something I haven’t done before but we’ll worth it and will done it again. I learnt, I observed, I laughter and throughly enjoyed spending that time with my host.

Amazing view of Goya’s artistic progression, life and famous works. Our guide Eva was very knowledgeable, bright and well-spoken. We learned much of Spanish history, culture and art. This is a great introduction to the Prado.

Private tour of the Prado

My wife and I have been on a lot of tours and our experience with Angel was among the best ever. He was informative, engaging and funny. It was like visiting the Prado with a really smart friend with a great sense of humor.

Our guide, Angel, was excellent. The feature to skip to the front of the line was well worth it. The Prado is too large to see in its entirety. Angel knew which pieces to focus on. It was a great afternoon.

We had a wonderful time visiting the Prado with Eva. We were in Madrid on a national holiday weekend but she knew how to weave us through and find spots that made us feel like we had the museum to ourselves. She was very knowledgable and we loved the information she had to share as well as her appreciation of the art which we felt. We would definitely recommend this tour!

Our guide was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and gave us an incredible tour! We felt like we saw a lot of the museum. It was a chronological tour which made a lot of sense.

A magical morning at the Prado

Our morning with Sara was educational and lots of fun. She picked us up at our hotel and we walked to the Prado. Along the way, we learned a great deal about Madrid and when we entered the museum, she was a font of knowledge about the main artists and masterpieces in the galleries. Had we gone alone we wouldn't have had any idea what we were looking at. The Prado is very crowded and being with a private guide was a much better way to navigate. Sara's English is great.

The Prado was excellent as usual but what made this visit most memorable was our OUTSTANDING tour guide, Angel, who brought the whole exhibit and each individual painting and piece to life with his detailed descriptions and in-depth knowledge of the art.

Eva was absolutely wonderful! She was extremely knowledgeable about the painting and had all kinds of interesting facts to add about the technique and perspective of the pieces. I truly enjoyed my day! She was so personable too!

Prado experience

Enrique was exceptional what a terrific experience he was so knowledgeable of the art and allowed us to wonder what the artist was thinking about when creating the piece. He offered such rich historical accounts of each of the time periods. Very engaging. However there was so much information it was difficult to digest it all

Highly recommended for those interested in a 3 hour class.

Good tour for those wanting to dig into the art's symbolism, painting textures/methods and historical progression. Our animated guide obviously loved his job and was well qualified.

Sara was our guide to the Pardo, and we recommend her highly. She is extremely knowledgeable and makes the the experience very personal, enjoyable and was able to tailor the museum to expand our art appreciation…. Just Wonderful!

Great tour , long walk

Our guide Angel was prompt to pick us up at our hotel and was very knowledgeable and passionate about the art and history. The only complaint I have is that the “hotel pickup “ was not fully explained when I booked. Our hotel was a full 1-hr walk to the museum- I assumed that we would be using a taxi or even public transportation. Angel did offer to get us a taxi at about the mid-point of the walk but at that time we decided to just continue the walk. Overall the tour was very good and I would highly recommend it.

The Prado Tour is a Field of Delights

This was our first trip to Spain and we had limited knowledge of the artistic history - this private tour built a foundation for us in a very captivating chronological manner. The narrative tied together influences over the centuries. Many paintings are amazing -- but much more interesting with guidance. Although we all need to have our own interpretation about an artist's meaning it certainly helps to have that historical context! Our guide Gonzalo provided the information needed to better appreciate a museum that could not be fully appreciated in one lifetime. Hopefully we can return someday!

El Prado Private Tour Extraordinaire!

Marta was our guide. She is such a nice person and so knowledgeable about Spanish history as well as art history. El Prado is sensory overload but Marta made it easy and interesting and fun— it appealed to me and my 22 and 20 year olds. I highly recommend Mad Snail and Marta specifically!

Can’t recommend it enough! Our guide Sara was so nice, and so knowledgeable. She knew all the relevant movements, the painters, and she provided such wonderful context on the history of Spain and how each painting we discussed could be seen in that context. We wouldn’t visit the museum any other way in the future, we learned so much and Sara was the best!

Understand the evolution of 15th Century Art

Enrique’s tour of Prado waljs you through the evolution of the artists of the 15th century particularly the use of perspective techniques. Add in the story being told by each masterpiece , you walk away with a new appreciation of these treasures. The guide was very passionate in his presentation, covering a lot if ground in the 3 hour experience. I could have listened to him another 3 hours

Perfectly presented Prado

Marta was excellent. Her tour was memorable as it was presented as a story of the artistic development coupled with the cultural and historical time periods. Great for a first visit or follow up. Marta was personable, knowledgeable and passionate. Recommended for either a first time visit or a follow up tour for more of the hidden treasures. We were inspired to return the next day during the evening to revisit and explore. We will definitely go on the tour again on a return visit to Madrid.

Tour guide Marta was amazing! Super knowledgeable, full of fascinating information, and - even for me with a shorter attention span - the three hour tour flew by. The tour was fun, we covered a lot of ground at the Prado, and were able to customize the tour to what we wanted to see. Marta is passionate about art, excitable, and was able to tell the interesting stories behind the art. All in all, a wonderful diversion. Highly recommend.

Amazing Prado and food tour

Enrique was recommended to us by another guide in another city as one of the best guides in Madrid and the tour with Enrique was more than excellent. Enrique's knowledge and passion for art and history made the tour come alive for us. If you want to really know about art and history, he is your guide and you will want to book with him as soon as you can. Afterwards we booked a food tour and again Enrique surpassed our expectations. Enrique showed us great restaurants (restaurants where the local's eat) along with an education about Madrid food and wines. He also made sure I could get gluten free food which really helped!

Completely unique experience

Visiting the museum with Angel was a completely unique experience. His knowledge of art and history and background stories made all the difference ! Could not have had the same appreciation or understanding of pieces without him. Wish we could have his expertise on all of our travels! Thank you!!!!

Highly Recommend - Only way to see the Prado

We had Sara as our tour guide. She had an amazing understanding of all of the pieces of Art and took us on an extremely fascinating tour of El Prado. From El Bosco, Rubens, Goya, Diego Velasquez and beyond it was just an incredible experience and so much better by having such a knowledgeable and capable guide.

Angel wove the artworks and their historical context into a vivid political history of Spain

Angel gave a fascinating tour of the Prada. An art historian, he not only provided deep insight into the artistry of the key works on exhibit, but also put them in historical context, weaving the artworks and the lives of their artists and patrons into a political history of Spain. Definitely one of the best museum tours we’ve experienced.
