Very good fly over of the Prado. To navigate this museum alone would be overwhelming and difficult. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the artists and the historical context. Tour was quite large (30 people) and museum was crowded but we had earphones and were able to both hear and experience the works. Was good to do a late afternoon tour as we still had two hours to enjoy the rest of the museum on our own.

Fantastic art. Definitely a must to see. She was super knowledgeable about each piece. I wouldn’t have had such a great experience without her knowledge!

Great tour - Rocio is the best!

Rocio was amazing! She hit on all of the important points of the museum and paused for questions on the way. She was funny and informative throughout the 2 hours. The only thing I would say is the meeting point is confusing. The link to the specific meet up is incorrect and takes you to a place a few minutes away from the actual meeting point. We almost missed our tour because of this but were able to ask around and eventually catch up to the group. Other than that this tour was great!

Amanda, a masterful guide

Our guide Amanda was wonderful. So knowledgeable about art history, interpretation of an art piece, or how it was restored (well or not!) She was an excellent speaker and pulled everybody into her art stories, making us gasp or laugh at certain times. We loved Prado so much more with her guiding us.

Great experience

We loved the experience. Rocio, our guide, made an amazing job providing a lot of information in a very entertaining way. We had a great time, and learned a lot. A guided tour is worth it when you have a knowledgable guide. There are a lot of art and history details that you will miss if going on your own. Highly recommended

Educational and Enjoyable

The Prado Museum tour guide provides an enriching and well-organized experience, highlighting the museum's vast collection of European art. The pacing felt a little rushed due to time constraints but overall our guide was able to make the most of the tour. Overall, the tour guide greatly enhances the visit, making it both educational and enjoyable.

Missed out.

Due to airline delays we could not make our tour. We forfeited the money for the six of us. I understand the refund policy but a small refund would have been nice but rules are rules. I learned never to book something like this on a day when you travel.

Amazing Vanessa

Vanessa of the Amigo tours group was just amazing. She was on time, arranged our listening devices and answered all questions politely and professionally. But most importantly, was an expert in the art she chose to show. We went into various rooms and learned about the history of the artist, the time and the methods. I knew some of each of the pieces she chose but went away amazed at how much more there was to learn. Thank you Vanessa for an amazing day.

Private tour with Monroe at Prado

Met for our tour at 10am… if you can, go for an early slot before all the crowds fill in. I booked the small guided tour, and it was just us 4 which was great. Monroe made an excellent guide, very informative and interested in all the art and history. Well worth booking, and thank you Monroe

False Advertising

There was no skip the line, we had to wait in line for an hour in the rain like everyone else. And since the tour started late it was too late for the tapas. Total disaster of a tour.

A must see in Madrid!

Excellent tour guide with just enough detail and history of each featured artist. It would take a few days to truly take it all in.

Great guide and museum!...

Great guide and museum! The only issue was that the museum was extremely noisy and it made it very difficult to hear the guide even with earpiece on.

A basic "masterpiece" tour but done very well. The guide was knowledgable and friendly, showed enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to share her expertise.

No sense of Compassion

I am very much disappointed that after being a loyal Viator user for 10 years now, simple request could not be granted. My group of 12 was part of the unfortunate who have been stranded for 48 hours in Dubai airport due to their Severe Weather situation of Apr16/17, 2024 - thereby affecting my arrival to Madrid. Despite the emotional & physical trauma we were going thru in Dubai airport in-between re-bookings & finding a place to sleep inside the terminal, I was in contact with Operator trying to make arrangements. My main request was for my booking to be re-scheduled on a another date, when we successfully arrive at our destination. They would not re-consider. I find it quite insensitive and so much in bad taste for customer service.

Amazing Museum and Great Tour!

The museum is breathtaking - to see so many famous pieces under one roof is mindblowing. The guide and tour was great - my friend really enjoyed learning about the art history because she was unaware. I wish more artists were included in the tour, but understand there is a lot there and you can still see more on your own after the tour. All in all - this museum is a MUST for any and all art lovers!

Jose made this Prado tour exceptional

We did this tour yesterday with Jose and we’re so glad we did. Years ago we tried to do the Prado on our own and it is too overwhelming. Jose did a fantastic job of providing historical context to the period, various kings, conflicts and then explained how the paintings were created with the use of perspective, layers (for depth), and even gold and lapis for color. He was the best guide we’ve had for an art museum. This tour was well worth it and Jose made the experience exceptional. Highly recommend!

Perfect Prado Expérience

Amanda our guide was an amazing guide explaining the history of the painting and each artist she presented. Her expertise and explanation made the paintings come to life. I really enjoyed the tour and appreciate the art even more. The Museum is quite impressive and is easier to navigate with a tour guide.

Very informative

The knowledge of the guide was excellent. She wove a story through the ages that was engaging and information. She stayed calm with the slightly messy way the museum handles the entry and security and did exceptionally well. Highly recommended.

Lovely experience

Amanda was great! I loved the depth of discussion for each art piece that it was only an hour and a half with time to explore in our own afterwards. I learned a lot, and I have a greater appreciation for the art.

Informative Tour

Amanda shared her knowledge of the Prado museum and her love of the numerous works of art it contained. Very informative overview of the museum, but it would take a week to do it justice.

An excellent time at The Prado Museum!

The Prado tour was a great experience. The museum is absolutely beautiful and filled with amazing paintings from the 16th & 17th century. The museum does not permit photos and the staff was quick to address anyone caught trying to take pictures. Our guide, Alex, did a masterful job providing the popular interpretation and his personal opinions of the main attractions of the museum. His presentation was outstanding! The group was fully engaged and interactive. We spent over 2 hours in the museum and barely noticed the time passing. My favorite piece was the "Las Meninas" by Velazquez. Alex's explaination was captivating and very informative. His insights allowed the members of the group to view the paintings differently and truly appreciate the work of arts. I would highly recommend this tour!! We did skip the tapas options based on other previously listed reviews.

ALEX not only knows the art, he offers insight. All delivered with an expressive engaging style. He also adapted his commentary to reflect our own questions and comments.

Great tour with Aurora

Aurora is a great guide, the wait time to enter the museum flew by with her story telling in the queue. She is very knowledgeable and shared so many great stories bringing the famous families of Madrid and the Artists to life. Highly recommend this tour.

Our guide (I think it was Amanda) was brilliant, she was very knowledgeable and excited by her subject. The tour concentrated on 8-10 paintings and was very informative giving a global perspective and well as very interesting specifics. Totally recommend this tour.

Excellent Guided Tour

The guide was excellent. She showed and explained six or seven masterpieces. She also showed us where everything was located in the museum so that we could tour it after she was done.

Prado Museum guided tour

Our guide was soo amazing! His knowledge, passion for the artists as well as their works, and the infectious energy made it a great experience! He was very engaging, asking us questions, urging us to look deeper than the surface and surprising us with the trivia of the context behind the paintings. Even had some of us play muses which was both hilarious and entertaining. He would ask us to observe the paintings from various angles and the painting’s more deeper meaning stood out clear as day. How amazing is that! We learnt so much of the museum’s amazing artists and their best works within the 2 hours of the tour. I also couldn’t stop laughing at his witty jokes. Just a tip for anyone booking this tour - the meeting point is the Goya statue which is on the premises of the Prado museum. Don’t get lost like us and go wait at the wrong spot!

Absolutely wonderful tour, our guides English was excellent.

Our guide Rodrigo was so knowledgeable, so passionate about the art, and I learned so so much from him! We enjoyed every minute, and could have listened to him for several more hours!

Prado at its best

Well thought out, interesting and educational tour with a guide well versed in Art History. The highlights of the Prado and the history of the museum was discussed. An insight into Titian, Tintoretto and then Velasquez with Goya.

Don't schedule the tapas option!

First off, The Ptado portion was excellent. The guide was personable and knowledgeable. I learned a lot. If you just do this part, I would highly recommend it. If i only signed up for this it would be 5 stars. The tour ran from 1:30, 13:30, until 4pm, 16:00. The tapas tour starts at 3:30 and is a half hour away. Realistically you will need to leave the Prado at 2:45. Obviously you would have to leave extremely early in the tour to get in the second half of the tour, tapas tasting. I choose to complete the tour and take a taxi, arriving at the tour office meeting place to find it closed. No response from the operator. I contacted Viator immediately. I checked a few restaurants with no success. Viator is REFUSING A REFUND on the tapas portion. I will continue to fight, but am writing this after 2 appeals. This event is not well scheduled to make the tapas option work.

Great tour but

Our guide was knowledgeable and very nice. It was a great tour. Sadly though we did not get a notice about the tapas. We thought it was after the tour but found out we had missed it. There should have been a notice.

Museum tour is fine, DO NOT book tapas option or you will lose your money!

Do not purchase museum tour and tapas add-on combo! The tapas is not a real add-on to the museum tour, since it is in a far away location from the museum (at least 25 minutes walk) and you have to be at tapas before 3:30, prior to 4pm museum tour! How unreasonable the timing combo is! You think the tapas add-on would be a part of the museum tour and after the museum tour? Not at all! They are Very unclear in description and refused to refund unprovided service! Do not book with them!

Highlights of Prado

Our guide was very enthusiastic and humorous. Ishmael led us to all the highlights of Prado in an efficient way.

Ok! But not great!

Disappointed with the size of our group. 29 is way too many people in one group. The tour guide was hard to see where she was going as we couldn’t see her. She needed a flag or something we could see. Also, we thought we paid for tapas and no mention of it was made. The whispers volume was one level…couldn’t make it softer…it was so loud!!!

Great introduction to Prado museum

The tour concentrated on religious works. The tour showed a few non-religious works. Would have liked to have seen more works of Velasquez and Bosch. The headpieces did not fit well and they kept falling off our ears. Also do not buy any paintings of some sort . They will not let you in the museum regardless if you put them in your bag. No water and no photos. Our tour guide Martin was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He was friendly and very polite. Must do when in Madrid! Thank you.

We missed the tour...

We missed the tour because our GPS took us around and around. We had plenty of time and tried to contact the company but had the wrong # on our confirmation. We had no way to contact our guide or the company for help. We paid for another entry and attempted to locate our group to no avail. I love art history so I was very disappointed not to have the guided part of the experience.
