A Fabulous Experience!!!

Walking through the old city of Madrid with our guide, Jorge, was a magical experience! He was personable, extremely knowledgeable about his city, its people, its daily life, and, most importantly, its food. At each stop we experienced delicious, traditional food (some unknown to us), and with Jorge as our guide, along with our small international English-speaking group, we had a most enjoyable and memorable time in this great city! I recommend Jorge and Secret Food Tours of Madrid highly!

Fantastic tour!

This was such a great tour. Our tour guide "Joe" (Maria Jose) was fantastic. She coordinated things so well. She gave us just the right amount of history and culture with each stop. I also love that she took us to local places that we may not have known about (the calamari sandwich spot was my favorite). And after the tour, she even took the time to give each us personal recommendations on places go to in Madrid. She also emailed us all the spots we visited and what we ate, so we didn't forget. I would recommend this to everyone!

Fantastic food tour with Jorge!

We loved this experience! In addition to eating great food, we learned about the history of the shops we visited, the background of the food we ate, and even got tips about what to see and avoid in the city. Jorge has fun and welcoming energy and took great care of the group, including accommodating me as a vegetarian. We’ll be recommending this tour to all our friends who come to Madrid. Great tour of Madrid!

We really enjoyed this tour! Jorge is a true local and very knowledgeable about everything Madrid! We learned a lot about the history of Madrid which was very interesting. We also visited bars that we wouldn't have known about if it weren't for this tour. Lots of yummy food and we were very full by the end. We would highly recommend this tour!

We wish we could have done this twice!

The highlight of our trip to Madrid. Our guide, Jorge, was absolutely delightful and full of knowledge. We did this tour on our last day in Madrid and we regret not doing it on our first day, given all the information and tips that Jorge gave to us. We've done food tours before in other cities but this one had a special feel to it. He was fantastic with our two children, 8 and 11, and included them as much as possible. From the street food to the comfort food, this tour had a little bit of everything. And plenty of cocktails. Five stars!

“George” was entertaining knowledgeable and friendly. I ate food I probably wouldn’t have come across and also got the history. Ended up stuffed with food and the drinks were great and varied as well.

One of the best highlights of our trip!

One of the best food tours I've ever been on! Jorge was very informative and entertaining. We learned about the history and culture of Madrid as well as the food. The food stops were all different and very tasty. I highly recommend this tour.

Delightful foodie tour on foot in Madrid

Jorge Ortega was the greatest guide, knowledgeable, considerate, articulate, affable, competent. The group (of 8) melded nicely, everyone got along and kept chatting (even as waitress at last stop started giving us dirty looks), and the food/beverage samples were super--and more than generous. Glorious weather, wonderful experience.

Wonderful way to get to know Madrid

This was a fantastic tour. Jorge was friendly and knowledgeable. The history he presented added wonderful depth to the tour. Great food and every stop was worthwhile. Definitely recommend this especially for first timers in Madrid as we were.

Jorge was a great tour guide for our walking food tour. He was very knowledgeable not just about the food but also about Madrid itself. He shared great tips about the city and shared interesting facts as we walked. I think the tour is great even for people who can’t walk a lot as the food spots were all very close to each other. Overall great tour and Jorge was fun, knowledgeable and very engaging. Highly recommend.

Delicious, interesting and fun!

We booked a private food tour with Jorge - my husband and I and three 20-somethings (2 sons + girlfriend of one). We had a blast. The food was delicious and plentiful! All complemented by the wonderful stories, history and details provided by Jorge. He was wonderful. Each stop was meaningful and we learned so much. Don't plan to eat for hours afterwards :)

Food, history, and fun

The food on this tour was great, all the local cuisine, in addition to traditional food that 'must be eaten to say you went to Madrid.' We loved our tour guide Jo, in addition to the food we learned about history, centuries of political strife, and funny stories about ironic things that have happened in Madrid. Additionally the drinks were great, especially the shots and the vermouth, my partner got a bit tipsy, lol.

Great way to tour Madrid and learn about the food and the city

We had a wonderful tour with Maria Jose. The food (and drink) were plentiful and we learned a great deal about Madrid and the food of the city. The pacing of the tour was wonderful. The highlight of the tour though was our guide (Joe). She was extremely accommodating and made the tour. We have done many food tours and this was one of the best.

Tapas as it supposed to be ! AMAZING

This is defenitive a tour you must do if you have some time free. Food was as i expected and the guide very friendly and talked to us all the time. Places we visit were right on spot and it helps to come a bit hungry. History was else something very interesting in this tour, thanks to our guide for such a lovely experience.

Must-do Madrid Foodie experience!

Diego was an amazing guide. He gave us just enough historical tidbits to make us feel like we learned something on the tour, but we weren't overwhelmed! The places he took us were top notch, non-touristy restaurants/bars/stores that totally gave us an authentic feeling for the city and its fantastic cuisine. He was super friendly, upbeat and the perfect tour guide!

Truly wonderful tapas tour!

Diego was a fantastic tour guide! We had so much fun and the food was phenomenal. This was an incredible tapas tour, but it was also a very rich historical and cultural guide expertly hosted by Diego. I urge you not to eat breakfast first as you’ll want to start on an empty stomach. You may also want to forego dinner plans after as no one will leave hungry!

Brilliant guide to the food, flavours & drinks of Madrid

A great food and drink experience. The unique eateries & food providores are great show case for the local authentic cuisine. Joe, our guide, was very engaging and enthusiastic in explaining the culinary, cultural & historical points of her Madrid. Would definitely recommend her trip, as you will not find these places by yourself. All tastings very generous and interesting. Recommendation: Don’t eat breakfast & try the shots!

Very good and fun tour fits all ages

We took the tour with Maria Jose (Joe) and we had the best time. Joe was knowledgeable, patient and friendly! Our tour was on Monday morning and places were not too packed. Our group had me in my 40's my daughter in her teens (16) and my mom in her 60's We all enjoyed it! Loved the information given and the food I would highly recommend

Exceptional tour guide

My tour guide was fantastic. "Joe" (short for Maria Jose) was knowledgeable, her English was excellent and she is a sommelier, so her wine knowledge about the Spanish wines was exceptional. All of the stops offered different but traditional Spanish tapas and foods. Every one we delicious and unique. I could tell the bar/restaurants she took us appreciated her and took extremely good care of her and therefore us. A wonderful experience I highly recommend to everyone.

Was solo (female)...

Was solo (female) traveler in town for work. Had a free weekend and wanted a food tour of local spots. Jo was a fabulous guide and made sure I was not left out of the group. The spots she treated us to were great hidden gems I never would have been confident enough to go in alone since I do not speak Spanish. However, everyone was lovely and accommodating. Ask for Jo’s tour if you plan to do this!

Great value and great host

Awesome tour! The food was delicious, and we learned lots of interesting facts about Madrid. A great way to avoid tourist traps. I definitely felt like I got my money’s worth, because we were provided with so much food and drink! Maria José was the perfect host. She made everyone feel right at ease, and was super informative and funny. 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic Secret Food Tour with Jorge

Jorge was an incredible guide and each of the stops was a jewel. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole tour. We were 11 travelers and the last stop was a wonderful opportunity to connect and recap our experience with Jorge. Jorge did a great job of accommodating my dietary restriction. He always had something for me when the regular item didn’t work. We loved his learning and discovery moments especially pouring cider, teaching is about the brass plaques. We definitely recommend this tour. We will continue to choose Secret Food Tours wherever we travel and recommend it to others.

A 5-star Walk, Talk and Eat

Cate and I scheduled our tour for our first day in Madrid. Jorge was our guide. He is an affable young man, well versed in both Spanish and local culinary history. Our group of six visited five well-chosen places (some historic). We had generous samples of local foods and information about their origins and preparation. Jorge likes what he does and it shows in his presentation and enthusiasm. It was a very pleasant (and filling) three and a half hours, well worth its price. Thanks Jorge!

Wonderful, authentic Spanish food

I would highly recommend this tour. We were in Madrid for a week and the food tour was one of our favorite experiences. The meeting point is a large and busy square. So make sure you know what color umbrella your tour guide will be holding. Somehow we missed the fact that our guide would be holding an orange umbrella. We were there, 10 minutes early but still had a hard time finding our guide, this seemed to irritate him. I felt terrible that we possibly held the tour up.
