The best tour we have ever taken

Excellent tour! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He presented very interesting detailed information in a very clear and articulate manner. Overall, he did an outstanding job and was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had!

Very worthwhile tour

Excellent guide who loved his Madrid and gave us a great synopsis of the history of this magical place He made sure all the group were at ease and was happy to answer queries and give helpful suggestions Really enjoyed his questions at the art as it made me really look at the picture and think about it The churros and chocolate were next level delish

I was not picked up at site. No tour. Guide fid not respond to my message at 10:09z. Tour was to be 10;30

Exceptional Tour

Alfredo was wonderful guide. His love of the art and history of Madrid was palpable. He made our experience come alive! We felt very grateful for his knowledge and dynamic sharing of that knowledge!

WONDERFUL TOUR!

Unbelievable. The palace tour was fantastic—we’ve toured in multiple countries but the opulence and artistry on display here is hard to fathom. Museum tour was great as well. Be prepared for plenty of walking between the palace and museum. Beyond that, it was definitely a trip highlight!

Guide who clearly loves his job!

David was an excellent guide, so knowledgable and friendly. Great to have a local person guiding us, his English was great and it was clear he loved his job.

Excellent walking tour of Madrid

Ana, our guide, was fantastic. Palace tour, old town, plaza mayor, puerto del sol, the prada. A great overview of places to explore on our own. Ana was fantastic.

Well worth the investment!

Skip-the-line benefit is totally worth it! A good tour through the royal palace and the Prado. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable as she guided our group from our meeting place to the palace. On our way to the Prado, we stopped at a chocolate shop and had churros. In the Prado, we had a good overview of some of the masterpieces in the museum. Good use of time on our first full day in Madrid.

Ernesto was our guide and was outstanding!! His passion and enthusiasm was infectious! The Royal Palace is huge and he very expertly maneuvered our large group around explaining and pointing out highlights and fun facts. We walked to the Prado enjoying historic sights along the way and hot chocolate and churros for a mid afternoon pick me up. Ernesto had an art history background and brought the Prado to life! Fantastic tour selecting the most important and renowned art pieces sharing the meaning and messages the artist was trying to convey in each painting. I think you would miss on a self guided tour! So happy we did this tour!

Perfect Palace and Prado Presentation

Our tour guide, Jose, so well shared his love of Madrid’s art and history with us all. The day spent at the palace and Prado museum was just the right amount of detail so that we could absorb the culture and beauty of it all.

What an amazing tour! Our guide, Alfonso, was so knowledgeable about the history of both the Royal Palace and the Prado. He also interspersed our tour with cultural tidbits which made our tour even more enjoyable. And the break for hot chocolate and churros was perfect!

Absolutely worth it!!!

The Royal Palace has a very rich & interesting history. DEFINITELY worth a visit! The PRADO Museum has an impressive collection & is a beautiful museum. Also worth a visit. In fact, we both agreed that without a guide, we would have spent 3 hours there wandering around & looking at probably most everything. With a tour guide, we were taken to the must-see pieces of art & given the history of each piece. A tour guide of the PRADO is absolutely the way to go. Our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, informative & good about keeping us all together on a very crowded afternoon. (I do not remember her name, but I posted a pix of her.)

Tour guide Carmen

Carmen did an excellent job. She had vast knowledge of the history of the palace and the Prada museum. Carmen was very attentive and answered our questions very clearly and patiently. Highly recommend this tour and Carmen.

Pretty good tour but rushed

Lola was very knowledgeable . There was not enough time in the Prado museum- by the time we got there and thru security we only had 1 hr of this 5 hr tour in the museum

Truly excellent tour!

Such a fantastic day with Ernesto! So informative about the history, art, politics, and architecture, and gems of information you can get only from a lifelong Madridian.

Good small group tour

The guide was knowledgeable and eager to answer questions or provide information. The tour pacing was a little odd. Sine things were slow while others quite quick. The head sets are ok but some in our group struggled with them which impacted pacing. Overall a good experience and would recommend.

Wonderful day in Madrid

The palace was the most beautiful and well preserved palace I’ve ever seen. It is truly remarkable. Our guide, David was outstanding. He was warm, knowledgeable, and loved sharing his knowledge of art and history. After the palace we walked around a historic section of Madrid stop for delicious churros. We continued walking to the Prado Museum. It is amazing and absolutely packed with world renowned art. David’s knowledge of art further enhanced our visit. We had headphones during the tour so we had David’s guidance and commentary throughout the day. The tour ended at the museum. I stayed to take in a little more art then went over to El Retiro Parque for a stroll and a late lunch. It was a wonderful day.

Informative and fun!

Great overview by our guide (Anna?). She was very knowledgeable and friendly. Churros and chocolate was a nice touch.

Royal Palace and Prado museum tour

Our tour guide, Alfonso, was wonderful and so incredibly knowledgeable about Madrid. Unfortunately, the royal palace was unexpectedly closed the day of our tour. However, our guide took us to the cathedral instead where we got stunning views of the city along with views of the royal palace. Highly recommend our tour guide!

Wonderful experience

This was our best excursion so far. Alfonso was very knowledgeable and made it a fun day. We learned a lot.

Incredible Tour!!

This was a great way to visit the Palace and Prado museum. Our guide was wonderful! He was extremely knowledgable, professional, and personable. Our guide did a fantastic job of providing all of the history and background of Madrid, the Palace, and the Prado. Wear confortable shoes. Highly recommend!!

Must do tour

This tour is 6 hour tour and we have a 12 year old whom we thought will revolt within a few hours. Surprisingly she didn’t and quite enjoyed the tour. Ana was a great guide and patiently explained all tidbits. We had a great time and highly recommend this tour.

Great experience

It was great experience. I really enjoy this tour. The royal palace is awesome. The Prado museum is amazing the paintings from Goya.

Outstanding Tour of Madrid

Outstanding and well organized tour. Our tour guide David was professional, knowledgeable of the history, friendly and provided clear explanations. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Madrid for the first time.

Excellent Guide, Worth the $$$

We had a great time with Sean our tour guide. He was very knowledgable and answered so many questions from the group. The churros were a good break in between. The guided tour of the Prado was exceptional, it gave us a fresh perspective and a newfound appreciation for Spanish art and history.

Wonderful madrid tour

Very comprehensive tour. Our guide Maria was very knowledgeable and energetic . The guide took us to the highlights of the museums. We also enjoyed the churros.

Great introduction tour to Madrid

Our guide Ana was great. We love the story and background explanations to the paintings and such. The stop for chocolate and churro was wonderful.

Excellent

Our tour guide was excellent. He knew his subject and conveyed the history of the Palace and the Prado in a way everyone could understand. He also had a great sense of humor.

Headsetd

Both guides Ana and Cassie were excellent. My only complaint was in the Prada museum we did not have headsets and I couldn’t hear and understand Cassie most of the time

not worth the money

We were asked to come 15 min earlier to redeem the tickets.. which was not necessary... and while the guide came later than the start of the tour. She was very nice, but was not engaging and did not have much to say about the Royal Palace... we spent around 1h in café eating churros, in my opinion wasting time which we could have spend in Prado. Also there the approach of a guide was strange ..focusing on first two pieces for 20 min and then chosen ones, not really elaborating on the collections, main pieces, etc. And skip the line ticket is useless if you have 50 tours with skip the line...

Not recommended

This trip does mot make sense. It should be either the palace or Prado. Both, with an hour break for churros do not make sense as eventually you do not really se as much as you could. Moreover, the information given is rather limited, especially in the Palace and while walking. If you want to combine both, skip the churros and dedicate more time to some sort of presentations in the palace and Prado. The only thing I remember is that Charles III had a big nose. Not worth 90 Euros.

The missed tour

We did not make it to the correct meeting point for the tour and we were there 30 minutes early....we had the address on the voucher that we put on our GPS(phone) and we were at the wrong location....we reached out to tour company but we could not find where the Queen Isabella statue was....we gave up. On our way back to the hotel we found the statue....just 600 ft from our hotel....can't blame anyone....we were there early at the address on the voucher. The GPS may have been messed up as many roads were closed due to the Madrid Marathon

Excellent experience.

Fabulous tour with Ana M. She was very knowledgeable on the history but she really shone showing us her enthusiasm for art. Highly recommended but be prepared for a lot of walking.

A must!

This tour was amazing thanks to Anna. She knew so much history and great recommendations for food. She was funny and upbeat. She is also knows her art very well which made the Prado Museum that much more enjoyable. I’d give more stars if I could because of her.

Great snapshot of history

Ana was amazing, so informative and passionate about Madrid and the history here. And at both the Palace and the Prado we truly skipped the huge lines which allowed us more time to enjoy both venues.

Royal Palace, churro tasting and Prado!

We spent the day with David, first the royal palace over 3,000 rooms, beautiful architecture, frescoes and history! Next churro tasting (highly recommend) and last the prado museum. David was very knowledgeable of all the paintings, great tour guide!

Outstanding guide and experience!

David, our guide was outstanding. he gave a depth of knowledge that he shared coherently and “connected the dots” among the experiences of the day. He was friendly and courteous. It was a long day, and not truly “skipped the line” because we waited for about 30 minutes or so, but very worthwhile.

Must do tour!

I highly recommend anyone visiting Madrid to sign up for this tour. Alfonso was an amazing tour guide - very passionate, engaging, and knowledgeable about Spanish history. This tour is a great way to see and learn about Madrid.

Great tour

We really enjoyed Ana R! She was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. We also enjoyed her passion for the city, history, and art. We learned so much and got to make the most of our one day in Madrid

Maria was outstanding. Very knowledgeable did a great job with the history of Madrid. She was very personable and professional. She was outstanding with the tour of the Prado. Wonderful experience. Worth every euro.

A Royally great time

Our tour guide, David, was a wealth of knowledge - a true story teller. We ended up having to stand in line for the royal palace tour due to large crowds. David regaled us with history about the cathedral and the royal family while we waited to pass the time. In the Prado, he tied the stories he shared in the royal palace with the paintings we viewed of El Gato and Goya. A great 5 hours.

Great guide, beautiful palace, big crowd

David was an outstanding guide - friendly, great knowledge and very good English. However, even the skip the lines tours took nearly an hour to get in, due to prior day closures. Without the extra crowds and delays this would have been a 5 star tour.

An awesome introduction to Spain and Madrid

Alfonso is very knowledgeable and patient guide and me and my wife truly enjoyed this 5hrs walking tour covering the Royal Palace and Prado museum. With provided whispers, we were able to capture all the details from the beginning to the end. Please remember wearing comfortable walking shoes since the tour involves extensive walking sometimes up and down the stairs.

A Perfect Day in Madrid

From start to finish our tour with Ernesto was fantastic! Ernesto's energy and enthusiasm is contagious and his knowledge of Madrid was expansive. His love for art and the beauty of Madrid was abundant as we made our way through the city to each of our destinations. We loved hearing about his own personal experiences living in Huertas. Madrid is a beautiful city and we were so happy to have experienced it with Ernesto. We have now toured three times with Walks & Devour Tours (Madrid and Paris) and every time has been terrific! Do not hesitate to tour Madrid with Walks and Ernesto if you have the opportunity.

Wonderful experience!

Beatrice was phenomenal. She was a wealth of knowledge, got us to be the first tour group into the royal place when the crowds were at an all time low, and her art history knowledge made visiting the Prado Museum a unique experience.
