We had a lot of fun learning about Madrid and exploring the charms on Spanish street with Ari. She is a very passionate food tour guide with a fun personality to bring out the best in you. Highly recommend Ari to travellers wanting to experience Madrid like the locals.

Fun and delicious way to see Madrid

Ari was engaging and full of interesting facts about Madrid and the history of the foods we tried. She clearly loves her city and food and it made for a very fun and engaging experience. Would definitely recommend!

A superb tour

This tour was superb. Julian is a very personable guy who took us to places we would never have known about including a superb historic tavern that makes its own Vermouth. Investing for three hours with him was absolutely value for money.

Worst food, guide and tour ever

This was the Worst tour ever! Do not waste your money. Be aware this starts in the alternative section of Madrid, there are 6 ft penis posters. For 4 people we were only given 2 small drinks (3oz) during the tour- 4 stops , we had to ask/pay for water. The “tasting” were small plates, 8 total in 3 spots. All but 2 were terrible- one was pig blood sausage- the last stop was a fast food tapas place- the guide was terrible. No personality, she didn’t eat or drink and lectured about alcohol and sugary food- she even went off about how she hated “fat people” this tour was not fun- one stop was a church for homeless and addicts- which is sweet- but not on a Taste of Madrid Tour. Please do not book this tour- it is not worth it!

Tasty tour!

Madrid is a beautiful city where its history is showcased with the food they serve. We had an amazing tour learning about the food, why the various dishes were so popular while getting to try a multitude of new flavors! We had an absolute blast!

Recommend but take it early.

Tour guide was very good. But he was late and a number of the places were closed. 330 is to late for this tour.

Disappointing. Not worth the money.

The Vermouth stop was interesting. The second stop was basic local food. The last stop was very disappointing. Cold French fries with sauces. The tour guide did not give detailed descriptions of food, did not seem to be passionate about food. Did not know the wines that were available. She spoke to individuals but not the group. Been on great food tours, this was not one of them. Disappointed.

A GREAT Food tour!

Ariadna is a great tour guide. She walked us around the palace and cathedral and then we started the food tour.She had lots of great stories as we walked, and took us to amazing local places. The food was marvelous! She also sent me a list of all the places we went to so we could revisit later. That was really helpful! all in all, it was a great time. Thank you, Ariadna!

Great local intro

Mateo was a lovely young man. Both friendly and knowledgeable. He took us to for some great local for classic tapas and steered us away from tourist traps.

Our guide, Mateo, was excellent. Very knowledgeable and brought us to some of the best spots in Madrid we were hoping to experience.

Our guide never showed up. We waited an hour. She did not answer her phone. Viator was zero help and it took 45 mins on the phone with them to get a promised refund - which better actually come through. No explanation or apology. Ruined our day.

Pleasant walk and food tour

It was a great experience to have a tour of some local food spots in Madrid. Patricia was very accommodating and had some great insights on the history, and cultural aspects of the Iberian society. Her personal experiences were added to contextualize the areas we were walking through and she knew how long each place was owned and if it was a traditional operation.

Most undelicious rip off

This was a bit of a rip off. Instead of 6 sites we were only taken to 4. Only 2 egg dishes and two samplings of olives. Plus we had to walk what seemed like a mile between a couple of places. When I complained about there being only 4 « dishes » the young man said: well one of them was big (he ate a portion as large as ours) and one had wine. It was in no way worth the cost of $198.

3 bad tastings, not 6-10 tastings as advertised

I've taken multiple Viator Food Tours in the past all over the world - all have been exceptional.......This one WAS AWFUL!!! The title of the tour specifically says "6-10 Tastings" Our 6 PM tour had THREE pathetic stops. For three people and over $300, our guide might have spent a TOTAL of $20 on food for ALL three of us. The first stop was a market, where we got some ham and cheese. The second stop was a place where we got some meatball appetizers. The final stop was a bar where we got one beer each and the bar threw in some appetizers for free!!! We had to stop for a real dinner afterwards

Great value food tour

Ricardo pitched the evening perfectly, taking us to different venues but always with great food and charm. Ricardo was easy company and very knowledgeable on food and wine. I would recommend you spend time with Ricardo on the 10 tasting food tour.

Great tasting tour with Ari!

Many daughter and I really enjoyed our tour with Ari. As others said, it was like being out with a friend. Ari took us to various establishments with authentic Madrid cuisines to try traditional foods and drinks true to Madrid and Spain and not tourist traps. She also took us to various sites and provided some history, but not too much. She provided additional suggestions for dinner and sites/activities to see/do. We highly recommend a tour with Ari. Ari, thank you for sharing your insights on your hometown with us. It was truly an enjoyable time with you.

Fun in Madrid

We loved our tour with Eva! She took us to some fun places and we tried different tapas. She also took us to popular places in the city and had great knowledge of history. Great tour! Learned a lot and saw things we would have missed on our own.

Extremely bad

This was a complete rip-off. Was taken to two horrible places - 1 glass of wine and bread, bread, bread! No small plates! Horrible! Pass on this one!

Excellent casual food tour

10 tastes with Ariadna was an excellent experience that I highly recommend. It was just Ari, me, and one friend. She took us to a bunch of different spots, and had some great tips on other spots that we passed. I really liked almost everything that we tried, and thought we got a good feeling for the most popular and easy Spanish foods. Ari was very warm and easy to talk to, but she didn't talk your ear off about history or the city, she didn't go on and on about herself, or make a ton of small talk like "where are you from, what's your job, etc." It was nice and relaxed like hanging out with a friend. We were very happy to meet her and would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Madrid.

Delicious tastes of Madrid

We had a wonderful evening with Patricia as our guide. She took us to several different local spots to sample local eats. The variety of dishes was very much appreciated, and the history she provided along the way added to the experience. She was friendly and knowledgeable and moved at the pace of our group. This was a great tour for a first time in Spain And was a great way to learn history, culture, and local food

A great time

Ricardo (the fun chef) was warm and welcoming. He definitely knew all about food and took me to a variety of places to show case the local Spanish food. Along the tour he pointed out the history and fun facts about the areas. Such a lovely person passionate about food and Madrid.

Taking this tour with Ricardo was a pleasure. We wanted to experience the food of Madrid but were finding it hard without speaking Spanish. Ricardo took us to great places to try honest, good-quality food. His culinary knowledge made him a stand-out guide for us, as he told us about the produce and the origins of the food throughout the tour. Taking this tour with Ricardo will make you feel at ease about going to new places and allow you to enjoy the food and experience true local cuisine. He even sent us recommendations for the rest of our time in Spain. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a fun guide who knows his food!

Great family experience

My family and I had a great experience with Julian. We were able to walk through the city and experience stories and extraordinary tapas and beverages along the way. We travelled with senior members of the family but Julian made it confortable for them, even with the long walks. Appreciate the details and experience, thank you Julian!

I could not recommend this tour enough. Our guide, Ariadna, was knowledgeable and friendly. She took us to some great spots and recommended even more places that we visited (and thoroughly enjoyed) later in our stay here. We learned more about Madrid and her cuisine at every stop. Thanks, Ari!!

Beautiful night in Madrid

It was just my wife and I with guide Patricia, who was a lifelong resident of Madrid, I believe. She really knew Central Madrid well and gave us a great overview. Very recommended! Had more food than we could eat and plenty to drink. Great choices all around and a fantastic way to start our stay in Madrid.

Marianissa is a delightful guide. By the end if the tour I felt like we were friends & I wanted to put her in my suitcase & take her with me. This was a perfect evening for a solo traveler to experience a bit of bar/tapas hopping that is so popular in Madrid. I learned so much about the tapas of Spain, ate cheeses, ham, tortillas, croquets & drank some wonderful wine, Vermut, & Sangria. Great job!

Excellent Food Tasting Tour

Patricia showed us an excellent time in downtown Madrid. She took us to multiple historic restaurants and told us about their history while we ate their food. We were 30 minutes late to our booking but Patricia was very patient with us.

Ariadna gave us an insight into her Madrid, where she was born, raised and now lives. On her tour she shared the treats of her home town. Ariadna is knowledgeable, thoughtful with a sense of humour.

Ariadna was a great tour guide. She is fun, knowledgeable, flexible and speaks excellent English. We had to re-arrange the date due to the infamous Madrid downpour of 19 October. We enjoyed the history and culture parts of the tour as well. Food was delicious. Would highly recommend the tour and especially our brilliant guide.

Delicious tour, local experience

What a fun way to experience Madrid! Patricia - our local guide - was wonderful. She had lived in Madrid many years and picked restaurants / bars that were so authentic. It was great to be able to hear about her life and experience in Madrid, and at times it felt like we were getting food with an old friend! We were able to try lots of different Spanish tapas and walk around the vibrant Chueca neighborhood. The tour is set in only 1 neighborhood, so it is not too much walking. Patricia picked all of the spots and it was a great mix of old and new. We had a great time and loved Patricia!

We were so happy to meet Marianissa for our tapas tour. Over our three hours together we lost track of how many tapa we consumed and we made a friend. Her unique input about the food and culture of Spain was enlightening and delightful. She introduced us to numerous bars, streets, foods and neighborhoods. My favorite was the Vermouth drink in Chueca and the garlic potato salad several stops later. I highly recommend a tour with Marianissa, she is a delightful person.

Top 10 is a Top 10 With Julian!

We had a fantastic gastronomic experience with Julian! We ate and drank so many wonderful things and visited so many historic places! Julian is a wealth of knowledge, fluent in English and very kind. Even though it basically monsooned for our entire tour he managed to keep us mostly dry and completely entertained. Lasting memories were definitely made!

The perfect guide

We had a great tour with Julian, visiting taverns with nice drinks and tapas along the way. Just enough history and visiting historical places to make the food tasting fun.

Patricia was an amazing tour guide she went out of her way to make sure I had an enjoyable time. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. I had a great time. The food and drinks were incredible. This is a tour I recommend to everyone coming to Madrid.

10 tastings of Madrid

The tour guide Julian was very good and provided us with plenty of history of the city that we visited. The food that we tasted was very authentic and well presented as was the accompanying drinks. The only criticism I have is that it is advertised as 10 tasting food tour but we only has 5 food stops and although they were great it is advertised incorrectly.

Tasting tour a disappointment

This tour did not match expectations. For what was provided, it was way overpriced. The description provided inferred multiple places but 95% of the tour was in Chueca, a very small area. We expected to have 10 tastings - meaning food and drinks in multiple places. We thought we would be tapa hopping in different old and interesting bars with food and drink. The first bar was interesting but other than that we were disappointed. We actually had 3 tapas in the Mercado (think Wegmans) in bright lights with no beverage until we asked for water. The information provided was very basic. It was a boring, expensive and disappointing experience. You would do better going by yourself to visit the cuevas tapa bars near the Playa Mayor.

Great person, poor match with tour.

This a very difficult review to write. Patricia is a very kind, helpful person. However several things did not go well, not all of which were her fault. I do not drink alcohol, however the description of the tour indicated that there would be several nonalcoholic options. While there were a couple, the fact that I didn’t drink through her off, especially since iI am diabetic and needed to minimize bread, potatoes, etc. When I explained that to her, she still offered several things that included both those items. Overall, the food choices were not good for me. She did give a different perspective of the history of Spain than I had previously heard due to her personal beliefs and that was very interesting. Overall, this tour was way too expensive for the food and tour I got, especially since I don’t drink. This was a poor match of my expectations and what I received.

Delicious food tour

We had an excellent food tour with Julian. He was very informative and also warm, engaging and a great sense of humor. He is a genuine foodie and we had a great time discussing food and wine. We enjoyed all our food tastings - a great tour.

Come Hungry!

Marianissa was a great guide. This is a private tour, just three of us and her. Be sure to come hungry, it is a lot of food. It was fun to try things from the great ham to the fast food sandwich from Oink. This is more focused on savory, only one sweet from the tastings, an almond “roof tile” cookie.

Excellent experience start to finish!

Julien was wonderful! He introduced us to many different local dishes but was also knowledgeable about history and as we moved from place to place he gave us the background on the building and their history as well and the origins of the foods and beverages we were tasting. FASTASTIC EXPERIENCE! Highly recommend!

Tastes of Madrid

Patricia took us around several local spots and introduced us to traditional tapas and drinks and gave us great information on when and how the locals in Madrid dine. Fresh cod served in a variety of ways, hams and cheeses, tortillas, and olives were a few of the delicacies from our afternoon. We enjoyed vermouth, standing, and a local ale in a cute bar/pub. She was very knowledgeable and interesting and we had a delightful afternoon. It was the perfect introduction to our sadly short visit to Madrid. I highly recommend her!!!

Patricia was a very good guide. She explained the foods and the history of the food very well. She took us to an area we might never have found without her help and gave us history about the area. She was very kind and helpful to our daughters who will be living in Madrid this summer. Patricia gave me information about other places to find local food as well!

Had a very nice time with Julian wandering the streets of Chueca for a history and food tour. Nice to both enjoy some history as well as get insight into the habits of Madrilenos in food and drink. Julian was also at the ready to offer advice for further travels in Spain but alas I was only passing through Madrid on the journey. A+++
