Lakefront city with something for everyone

Lucerne is a very pleasant Swiss city, complete with views, lakefront promenade, a terrific museum, and engrossing old town with luxury shopping and phenomenal food options. The bustling central train station is minutes away from the lake, historic old town and high-end shopping. Great base to work from with day trips to surrounding mountains, lake cruises, or exploring the local history. The Verkehrhaus museum can take up a whole day with its planetarium, big screen theater and displays of all aspects of Swiss engineering and industry. The Ameron Luzern Hotel Flora is a modern, comfortable hotel situated a few minutes walk from the central train station, adjacent to the river and close to the old town and lakefront.

A full packed day in Switzerland

This private tour with Chris allowed us to see as much as we possibly could with such a short time in Switzerland and with the unexpected cold/rainy weather. Chris tailors the day to you and your interests specifically. I work in the arts and was looking for a Switzerland country side experience. We had an itinerary of waterfalls, gorges, lakes, gardens and surprised with added cultural stops such as speaking with a wood carving student and visiting a glass blowing exhibit. You can tell that Chris has lots of connections to help make the most unique experience out of our tour. Our day did have to be cut short with us having to transfer to our cruise ship at 4pm, so I wish the price had been modified for that. I will say, Chris picked us up earlier in attempt to get us the most out of our day and he kept us very punctual. Overall, I’d highly recommend this tour due to the irreplaceable tailoring of the day and access to unique experiences through connections!

Best Two Days in Switzerland 🇨🇭

We had the best experience for our first time to Switzerland. We heard Chris on a Swiss podcast and looked him up to see if he’d be free for our trip. He was very responsive and contacted us ahead of time to get an idea of what we were looking for in our trip. We only had two days in Lucerne so we had him plan a two day tour which was so nice to pass the planning over to him. We just showed up and everything was planned. He picked us up from the airport and we started our first day tour from there. We packed in so much beauty and experiences in a short time. Chris is really good at stopping at places long enough to snap a beautiful picture and surprising you around each corner with Switzerland beauty. He knows all the best spots. Day two was a trip up into the mountains. It was absolutely stunning. We ended both days with our favorite dinners of the trip at a local places Chris recommended. The first night the two of us sat for over 3 hours as the menu was set with courses coming out all through the night. It was off the beaten path so out of the tourist area. We were the only English speakers which was nice to dine like the locals. The two days with Chris started our trip off so well that we were able to relax a little for the rest of the trip knowing we had checked so many Swiss travel boxes. If your planning a trip my biggest suggestion would be to pass a couple days off to Chris and let him do the planning. It was so nice to turn our brains off and just enjoy the beauty. It was such an efficient way to see Switzerland. 🇨🇭 Thank you Chris for such a wonderful experience!!!

A Full Day that was a Great Job! Kudos to Chris Wilson!

Our tour was perfect and exactly what we wanted! Chris Wilson understands Customer Service and did a great job showing us around the Bernese Oberlands Region and allowed us to set the pace. Chris was informative and very helpful. Our family loved the day and Chris did a great job. We also enjoyed the conversation and music while traveling from place to place.

Outstanding Tour!

Chris is a brilliant tour guide. He thoroughly discussed tour options prior to the trip, and continued to send photos and recommendations throughout our travels. Chris accommodated our interests and worked with us to tailor the tour. He took us on several adventures, the highlight of our trip! We built Swiss Army knives, decorated chocolate bars at a chocolate factory, and blew glass at a glass factory. He then drove us into the spectacular Bernese mountains and Lauterbrunnen/Interlaken area. I highly recommend Chris for an outstanding tour!

Chris gave us one of the best days of our lives!

Chris is a wonderful private tour guide! He spent an awesome 9 hours with my daughter and I (it was our first time ever hiring a private guide so I was a little apprehensive) but Chris put me right at ease. Chris is friendly, knowledgeable, funny and took us on a great trip all around Switzerland. He picked us up right on time from our hotel and we got to see a little more of gorgeous Lucerne, breathtaking Bernese Oberland region, Lake Brienz, Lauterbrunnen and so much more! He even took us a all the way to Zurich to drop me off at my next hotel. He communicated effectively and promptly upon booking the reserve and planned our day based on what I liked and knew I wanted to see, he added in some places he knew I would like after getting to know me during multiple conversations prior to meeting and he even had fun surprises along the way! The weather put a little damper in our original plans and he went with it and still made the day awesome. 5 Star service all the way! We are already planning our next trip back to gorgeous Switzerland next year to see more of it and plan on hiring Chris again, this time probably for a multiple day tour because we loved it THAT much! :-)

Wonderful Day in the Bernese Oberlands

Spent a wonderful day with Chris touring the Bernese Oberlands. The trip was well planned with a strong focus on our areas of interest, Pace was perfect and accommodating - not rushed at all. We saw a great variety of sights and places and had a wonderful lunch at at beautiful historic hotel in the region. Chris has a great sense of humor - we felt like we ended our day as lifelong friends. I highly recommend Chris and his service for anyone wishing to explore Switzerland!

Our private tour was excellent! Chris is very accommodating. He wants to know what interest you in order for the day to be perfect. The things we saw and did were amazing. The scenery is incredible! Highlight our Switzerland trip

Chris was the highlight of our 10-day trip through Switzerland! The day was absolute perfection, and the places he took us where all out of a dream. From the time you book your trip (I recommend doing it directly through his company, Typically Swiss Tours), Chris begins to get to know his clients and their preferences. Chris knew which were the "musts" I had to see, but then sprinkled in a few extras of his own that I would not have been able to find doing my own research. The sites in Switzerland sell themselves. But do yourself a favor and enjoy the company and knowledge of Chris while he takes you around. I really enjoyed seeing Chris interact with all the locals. It's clear he cares for his community and the local well-being. I also appreciated the conversations my husband and I had with Chris. Our conversations ranged from the general tourist questions, to our personal lives, relevant topics from each other's cultures/countries, and humor. Thank you, Chris, for everything and the unforgettable memories. I feel like I can now say I have a friend that lives in Switzerland.

Truly the best!

Chris was amazing. He took us to so many beautiful places throughout the region, and gave us fantastic information about each place. We have been to 2 other countries on this trip, prior to arriving in Switzerland, but this was our favorite day by far. Chris is full of knowledge about the region and the country, which provided insight for us. We would recommend him highly to any of our friends or family that may visit this area in the future. Personalized tour with a variety of destinations!

We booked a whole day with Chris Wilson, the owner of TST. His information and photo sharing before the trip helped us determine what we would want to see. He took us places no one would know to go to, as well as many other photogenic and activity stops. Lake Lucerne, Interlaken, both a wood carving and glass blowing venue, and great stories! If you are going to Switzerland and have the time, I would recommend Typically Swish Tours and More be at the top of your list! Excellent.

Best of Bernese Oberlands with Chris Wilson!

Barb & I with friends Harold & Dianna enjoyed a wonderful tailor-made day long excursion to the Bernese Oberlands with Chris! One of the very best tours ever filled with scenery and insight from Chris that would be impossible on our own. Highlights were the Aareschlucht Canyon trail hike, a personalized wood carving experience in Brienz, and a boat ride across the lake from Brienz to the Grandhotel Giessbach that included a short funicular railway ride. Truly a day in the Swiss countryside that is impossible to repeat without Chris!

A great customized day in Switzerland

We had a great experience with Chris. Communication ahead of our day was excellent. He tailored our activities to our interests and the weather and was very flexible. We ended up spending much of the day at the jungfraujoch which was wonderful. It would have been a shame had we went on a different day with bad weather. Chris let us stay as long or as short a time as we wanted at various places, gave us advance notice as to scheduling for places that had transportation schedules, and took copious pictures even to satisfy the whims of my 17 year old. The private and customized tour experience was great. November is shoulder season so a number of things were closed but we still had a great time. Particularly if you are short of time or don’t want to travel in a group, this is an excellent choice. Would highly recommend

Best Day in Switzerland Thanks to Typically Swiss Tours!!!!

Our customized Bernese Oberland tour with Chris from Typically Swiss Tours was absolutely our BEST DAY in Switzerland. The places Chris took us far overdelivered in every single way. The walk through the gorge, the fabulous lunch location, the epic chocolate factory tour - and Chris himself is MADE guiding people to have memorable, educational, relaxing experiences. He's funny, kind, thoughtful and very informative. He was incredible with my 2 year old Stella - and she still recalls "Mr. Chris" from time to time - and the gummy bears he introduce her to - which she had never had, but so enjoyed as a special treat. We cannot recommend this tour and this family owned company enough.

Spectacular

Amazing Switzerland made even more amazing by Chris and TST!

Our first communication with Chris was about a contest in his TST newsletter. We actually won a Freddie tour and entry to Chillon Castle, both in Montreux. In the year before our trip, we had many emails, iMessages, and even video chats with Chris. He really wanted to get to know us in order to personalize our tour days for our greatest enjoyment. WOW! They were all fantastic! He picked us up from the airport in Zurich and we toured all day, starting with Rheinfall, and then checked in at our home base hotel in Luzern. Jet lag? Not a problem! We had a total of four days with Chris. He was careful not to include things we could easily do on our own (like Pilatus), and showed us more sights than we could have imagined! Awesome places of great natural beauty along with chocolate, cheese, cookies, and history were all part of our itinerary. And we even got to zip line for our first time ever! Chris was also super helpful with the rest of our planning for our time in Switzerland. He helped us to understand the Swiss railroad system (buying tickets and actually getting from place to place) as well as helping us figure out how to organize our time there. He is funny, personable, knowledgeable, trustworthy, a great driver, and filled with enthusiasm that we got totally swept up in! If, someday, we get the chance to return to Switzerland, we will contact Chris immediately!

Awesome Trip from Luzern to Montreux!

Our experience with Chris (personal guide/driver) started in Luzern with a full day of touring on the way to Interlaken. We made a stop at Lungern Lake, walked through Aare Gorge (Aareschlucht), visited the town of Brienz (wood carvers), cruised across Lake Brienz on a steam paddleboat (MS Loetschberg) to meet our guide at Giessbach Hotel for lunch. Hiked up to a beautiful waterfall. On to Isenfluh and a cable car ride to Sulwald Stubli a small mountain restaurant with amazing views of Eiger, Monch & Jungfrau. Our second day with Chris started in Interlaken with a full day of touring on the way to Montreux. First stop was Lauterbrunnen with stunning and picturesque views. On to the city of Gruyere and our first fondue for lunch! We then visited a Gruyere cheese and Cailler chocolate factory, respectively. The cheese and Swiss chocolates were delicious. If you are looking for a Switzerland guide/driver look no more! We highly recommend Chris Wilson. Prior to our travel, Chris setup a zoom call to listen thoughtfully to our requests and presented an oral outline of what he would plan out with flexibility due to inclement weather. He is a great driver, patient, knowledgeable, with a pleasant and funny personality.

Amazing day!

What a day! We got to see the best of Switzerland in one day. I still can't believe the sights we saw. Mountains, waterfalls, lakes, alpine villages, and more. We were so grateful for such a well planned itinerary from Chris, and his knowledge on the beatiful country of Switzerland! Definitely one of the highlights of our 10-day trip.

The Best of the Best

Chris is an awesome tour guide . . . from the preplanning stages to the onsite personal attention to detail (and a little humor too) . . . he's the BEST!!! We had such a great time visiting the most beautiful and breathtaking natural wonders of Switzerland. From a spectacular gorge, to a stately grand hotel on a fairytale lake to a local pub up the mountainside with a view of Jungfrau and Eiger . . . and much much more. Our only regret was not starting in Switzerland FIRST before our river cruise. Chris had so many fun, interesting and unique things planned and places to visit, but we were so exhausted we cut our tours short. We'll definitely be back to take it all in again with Chris as our guide.

Trip from Zurich to Lauterbrunnen

Our guide Chris drove us from Zurich to Lauterbrunnen with many sightseeing stops along the way. He took us to some beautiful, amazing places where the views were spectacular. He was very informative in all things Switzerland and we really enjoyed his company and learning all about this beautiful country. When we go back to Switzerland and if we need a tour guide I definitely will call Chris. I highly recommend him. He was knowledgeable about all the places where we stopped and besides being our driver and guide he was our photographer capturing memories of our day. We had a wonderful day with Chris and look forward to seeing him again so he can show us some more Switzerland sights!

Best day ever!

Chris is an exceptional tour guide! He is very knowledgeable and amazing at what he does. From the moment we booked this tour, Chris was immediately in contact with us to go over all the detail and any requests we might have. Traveling with children (11 and 18 years old), I wanted to make sure we had a safe driver that could take us to see places that we wouldn't have been able to get to on our own without renting a car. Once in lifetime opportunity

Despite the rain, this tour was still extremely memorable, adventurous, and fun. Chris took us to every beautiful destination that we wanted to see and was determined to make sure we had a good time by accommodating all of our needs including waiting for us when we took almost an infinite amount of pictures and giving us options of what we wanted to do. He was not only patient, but he informed us of a lot of very interesting facts about the area that we really appreciated. The stops that we made were so beautiful and unique even with the rain. Chris is a very funny, entertaining, and passionate tour guide who we would recommend to our friends and anyone else interested in visiting Switzerland.

Chris took us to everything we wanted , and completely customized it for us. I love that he took the time to do a video call with us beforehand to discuss what we wanted to see, and what we didn’t. One of the best trip I’ve ever had , Specially bcoz of Chris , He was so gentle helpful full of interlaken best interest sights , Clean comfy cold car , What about the lunch that we had by waterfall , and no waiting , also bcoz of him , What about a million picture he took for us , The best 9-10 hours , he was never tired of us , Last but not least his friend at the mountain the coffee shop owner with his angry face , nice coffee nice view ,

Wonderful tour. Chris was the perfect guide. Views were stunning and he took time to adjust the pace to our group's needs. Trip was a combination of "touristy" places and off the beaten track gems. Would definitely recommend.

Like Walking in a Fairytale

This tour is something you shouldn't skip. Chris is unlike most tour guides. He introduced himself and began communicating with me to gauge my interests well before our tour date. I told him I love cheese so he worked very hard to find a cheese producer that would give my husband and I an educational tour. In addition to that he showed us more waterfalls and beauty that I thought possible. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the tour including having lunch with Chris. He's an engaging, funny man that is enjoyable to be around and one who also takes great pictures (bonus)!! Thanks again Chris. At the end of our recent river cruise we had the privilege of spending two full days with Chris Wilson of Typically Swiss Tours. Chris is an amazing, witty guide who can customize your tour prior to your arrival to whatever you would like to do or see. He included so many different experiences from a chocolate factory tour, to the Aare Gorge, to many gorgeous waterfalls, a boat ride on Lake Brienz, tour of Zurich, the Rhine Falls, and many other stops along the way. A Perfect Day

This tour made our trip to Switzerland perfect. I wanted to see the beauty of Switzerland and Chris showed us more than we could imagine. Chris is personable, fun and professional. We had a comfortable ride for the long day and he added personal touches to make each experience special. We saw areas of Switzerland we would've never been able to see on our own and will cherish always. Chris ensured we had plenty of family photos to go home with also. I can't recommend him more and hope we get back one day to some of his other tours.

Beyond Expectations Tour of Lucerne Area!!

This tour was arranged by our US travel agent and it was spectacular! Chris’s communication is outstanding and started even before we left the US. He video-chatted with me to ensure that we would be provided a tailored experience. He checked in with us frequently after we arrived in Switzerland and arranged a privately-guided tour of a small cheese-making operation outside of Lucerne prior to starting our all-day tour around Interlaken and the surrounding sites. His humor was greatly appreciated and to be able to have a private guide who drove us to and from our hotel was the perfect situation. This tour will not disappoint and is so convenient in every way. We saw some of the most beautiful places in the world thanks to Chris. He arranged lunch in Interlaken and we also stopped for beer at a local pub with magnificent views in the afternoon. He also continued to check in with us after the tour while we were staying in Lucerne. Chris went to great lengths to provide us a day of our liking and we could not have enjoyed it more - it was absolutely delightful! Thank you Chris!

2 Day Tour

We had the pleasure of stumbling upon Chris by researching Swiss tours. I can honestly say it was the best part of our 2 week vacation in Europe. From an economical standpoint we were simply able to see at least 4 more sites than had we tried to plan this ourselves. But not only that, we wouldn’t have known about many of the places he showed us! Chris went above and beyond to tailor this trip to our taste, and we are forever grateful for the time and experiences we shared with him. If I could rate this 6 out 5 stars I would!

Wonderful experience

What a wonderful experience! The itinerary was carefully thought through and well balanced. It was a wonderfully organized trip with beautiful cruising, picturesque spots and fascinating lectures on the region and history. Chris is competent, funny and intuitive. Excellent service.

Overwhelming

I was very impressed by the Aareschlucht and the fantastic view from Isenfluh to Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. But also the way down to the amazing Griessbach falls with the delicious lunch at the Griessbach hotel was great! Thanks a lot for this overwhelming trip, Chris! Angelika

Wicked Awesome !!! ( as we from Massachusetts say )

My sis hired Chris to take us on a walking tour of Lucerne and we had so much fun that she hired him for 2 more tours, the Best of Bernese Oberland and the Rheinfalls , Stein am Rhein tour. We enjoyed every minute and learned so much about Switzerland. Chris made sure we were comfortable and taken care of. He learns what you like and customizes the trip for you. I love birds and he found a little out of the way park with some exotic birds to see like a snowy owl, my sis wanted to see a castle and he surprised us with a lunch reservation at a castle, which was amazing ! I loved the trip via cable car to an outdoor mountain bar for an end of day glass of wine with a view of The Eiger, The Monch, and The Jungfrau Mountains . Incredible !!!

Amazing time with Chris W. seriously the best Tour Guide ever!

Words can't describe the beauty and laughter we experienced with Chris. He took us places that were unique with unparalleled beauty. He checked off every box we desired, from an Aviary (my sister loves birds) to see cows up close and numerous water falls. We enjoyed Lunch in a castle, took cable cars, funiculars, boats, and happy hour at a rustic mountain bar snow covered Mountain views. If you asked what I loved the most about Switzerland my answer would be our Guide because the beauty of Switzerland speaks for itself but Chris brought it to life! He genuinely cared about us and making sure we were comfortable. We enjoyed his fun loving sense of humor. He was extremely knowledgeable about Switzerland and it's history. Usually I visit a Country and say one and done. However I would go back and explore more of Switzerland and nearby Countries with Chris. He seriously is the best Tour Guide ever!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about typically Swiss tours and Chris. If you want to guarantee you get the most out of your trip and see the most beautiful places in Switzerland all while being constantly entertained by a lovely English man, book a tour through TST. My husband and I were on a delayed honeymoon and Chris picked us up from the airport in Zurich and then we embarked on a tour of Lucerne, exploring the town and an ancient clock tower, stopping by a delicious chocolate shop where we got to try several different chocolates, we had lunch by the water and ended our day by having cocktails at the beach bar at hotel Montana, which had stunning views. When chris dropped us off at our hotel, he had arranged for chocolate to be left in our room and a sweet note to kick off our honeymoon…so thoughtful! Everywhere we went, chris made sure we had the best experience possible, whether it was making sure we had the best seat with a view in a restaurant or him making a playlist of some of our favorite songs to listen to while we drove around on our tour…he literally thought of everything. I am a huge planner, OCD, perfectionist, and I couldn’t have even thought of everything Chris thought of. The next day we had an expansive tour of the Bernese Oberland. We started our day at a Swiss dairy farm and got to make authentic Swiss cheese and learn about the lifestyle of cheese makers and appreciate all the work that goes into creating “alp cheese.” We finished with a cheese tasting. Next we went to a beautiful area with mountains and waterfalls and went for a hike. Everywhere we went was absolutely breathtaking. Chris really made sure we didnt miss one single thing which we really appreciated. Chris was very flexible the entire time and was eager to please. He really created a customized tour of what interested us and was flexible if we want to see more or if we were tired and wanted to go back to our hotel. We had another wonderful lunch with a view at hotel geissbach which was stunning and overlooked lake brienz. We took a funicular down to the ferry and went over to the town of brienz which has so much character and a really cool wood working shop. I could go on and on about our time with chris. If you want to ensure you have an outstanding trip to Switzerland, hire chris!! You won’t regret it.

Exceptional Tour!

We had limited time in Switzerland and this was a great way to see some beautiful highlights. Starting from the initial contact to the drop-off back at our Hotel, Chris was exceptionally responsive. Although we covered a lot of ground, we never felt rushed and we would not have seen half as much had we gone on our own. Having a knowledgable guide gave much more depth to the experience and eliminated the logistical worries, allowing us really take in this unique part of the world. He was insightful, flexible, and easy to chat with - it made us feel like an old friend was showing us around. Great work, great day. I would highly recommend this tour.

Top notch customized tour.

Chris went out of his way to make sure we had a great visit while in Switzerland. He even did a Zoom call prior to our trip to help plan the best options based on our time and interests. We saw and did so much more than if we had tried to do on our own. The other plus was Chris has the transportation included which many other tour guides have to hire a driver separately. Chris was considerate in making sure our expectations were met throughout the two days we spent together.

Lovely Lucerne

This was an epic adventure with Chris! We loved every minute of this tour. Chris knows the land and where to take you. He is an expert on the beauty, amazing views and waterfalls, hikes, scenery, history, current information on the area, what it's like to live there, places of interest, good restaurants, etc. He is comfortable, fun and funny as well. We would not have known about the places he took us to without him as our guide. It was a very enjoyable day and excellent tour. Highly recommend Chris and Typically Swiss Tours. We would definitely book again with him. Thank you Chris! Lucerne is absolutely stunning! We want to go back and spend time there and explore other areas of Switzerland because we enjoyed it so much.

Beautiful Sights

We are so glad we did this tour. If you want to see Switzerland's postcard pictures of lakes, mountains, fields and waterfalls, book this trip. Very stunning views! Chris was great! He has a great sense of humor and made the trip fun! We all enjoyed the day trip and we would book tours with Chris again.

A fabulous 3 day tour of Switzerland

This is the second tour with Chris and Typical Swiss Tours and it was absolutely fantastic. Chris took the time to understand exactly what we wanted (I like mountains and views!!) and then tailored the tour perfectly. His vehicle has a lovely luxurious and spacious feel and Chris's company is first class. Little touches are also always there and that additional attention to detail is spot on. Highlights included Isenfluh / Sudwald / Pilatus / Axalp / Giessbach Falls. I couldn't recommend Typical Swiss Tours highly enough and if you haven't seen the magnificent country that is Switzerland then you have missed out. We also stayed at Chris's Air B&B which again is absolutely excellent so do ask him about it.
