Excellent hiking experience with Benji

Excellent service, great food (vegetarian options too and snacks). The entire trip was very comfortable- they provide everything literally. Benji was awesome. He took care of everything we needed and made sure that our hike was completely safe. He was also singing Bollywood songs to entertain us (as we are from India). We really had a lot of fun. Highly recommend taking this trip with benji and jou trekking.

amazing experience ( 2D1N Senaru Crater )

Before arriving, the communication via WhatsApp was very good. Upon our arrival at Bangsal port in Lombok, our driver was waiting to take us to our hotel in Senaru (we decided to spend the night before the trek near Mount Rinjani. The next day, we have breakfast and head to Crater Rim. We recommend that you be in good shape as it requires a lot of physical effort. We stopped, and every time we had our guide, Adi, who was great as a person and a professional. We don't have enough words of gratitude for the operators, who besides cooking delicious food, also do intense work. We arrived at Crater Rim and they quickly set up camp enjoying the view, we had dinner and the next day we had breakfast and headed down. When we arrived in Senaru, they gave us our backpacks (previously stored while we were trekking) and gave us a room so we could shower before taking us to Kuta. We highly recommend this experience with them, we felt very comfortable and we are very sad to say goodbye to them. They also play a super important role in the environment by always collecting any rubbish they find along the road. Thank you Jou Trekking, we will definitely repeat!!

Rinjani summit trek!

I did this trek with my guide Eddie and 3 other travellers and it was a fantastic experience. Not for the faint hearted but if you're willing to put some effort in, it's loads of fun. The porters are terrific and they really ensure you are filled up with food, water and sugary drinks. You will not go malnourished. They meals are delicious and the porters and the guides friendliness even more outstanding. The staff at the joutrekking office were very helpful making sure I had everything I needed and then made sure I made it to my next stop (Bangsal) safe and sound. In their words: "It is our responsibility to get you there safe". If you're going to climb Rinjani do it with Joutrekking!

Tour guide were incredible!

Jou Trekking team picked us up on time at Bangsal port. Our guide, Lim, was very nice and spoke good English. The food was really delicious (and in large quantities!!!), the tents/beds/mattresses were clean and comfortable, we didn't feel cold!! Props also to the porters who did the impossible job, don't forget to give them a good tip! We spent 2 days 1 night from Senaru to basecamp. Very valuable experience! I am very happy with my experience with Jou Trekking! Thank you, Lim!!

Excellent trekking trip. VERY helpful guide

Thank you to the entire Jou Rinjani team! Perfect organization, including transfers from Gili T, food, climbing, etc. Everything was absolutely perfect! Thank you very much! Our guide, Lim, was very friendly and even picked up trash along the way. It's unfortunate that not all tour operators share the same commitment. The climb to the crater was a great experience. The porters were amazing and did everything they could to give us unforgettable memories.

Big thanks to Jou Trekking for an incredible adventure! We opted for the 2-day, 1-night crater rim package, and it was fantastic. It was my first time camping, and it exceeded my expectations. The tents and sleeping bags were comfortable, and our guide Aton and porter Har and Li were exceptional. We had a wonderful 2 days  hiking experience with Jou Trekking. Our guide Ris was absolutely delightful, and he made our trip enjoyable.  The porters are legends who carry very heavy loads.  The friendliest group on the mountain, we got along well with them.  Made fun trip. This company is a little more expensive than most companies, but you get a much better experience. I would gladly choose them again for their fantastic guides and porters.

amazing experience, best tour operator

We completed the challenging two-day and one-night climb with Anton as our guide and Naska and Lapi as porters. Throughout the journey, we received exceptional care and attention. Despite the difficulty of the climb, it was incredibly rewarding and left us with lasting memories. If we return, we'll definitely choose Jou Trekking again. One helpful tip we learned was to pack our belongings in plastic bags to prevent them from getting wet, as we had to borrow clothes from Anton and Lapi for the summit. We are grateful to Jou, Anton, and the entire team at Jou Trekking for an unforgettable Trekking experience!

Best trek ever

We went on the 2-day, 1-night tour! It was a tough journey, but the stunning scenery made it all worthwhile. Lim and the porters provided invaluable support, and their hospitality was exceptional. The food was also fantastic! Huge thanks to Lim and the porters - we couldn't have done it without you!

Great experience

We went on a 2-day tour with Jou Trekking, and the tour provider was excellent! Our guide, Rody, was very friendly throughout the entire hike, cooking delicious meals for us and providing snacks. He even made us hot chocolate and coffee at the top and brought them upstairs - no one else had them! The thing that we found a bit alarming was the amount of litter on the mountain, but Jou Trekking also makes an effort to address this issue by consistently removing more litter than they generate themselves. Overall, it was a brilliant tour and we highly recommend it!

The best experience

Truly an amazing experience, everthing from start til the end was 10/10. Our guide was super nice and english speaking. The food was soo delicious, authentic and for every meal there was more than enough food and drinks. Additionally, the company was so generous and helpful. They borrowed us backpacks, headlamps and gloves, and drove us 3.5h to our hotel after the hike without any extra charges. Couldn’t be more happy with Jou Trekking! Finally, I recommend everyone to visit mount Rinjani. It was challenging but such a rewarding experience!

Very well organised and helpful trekking company

The trek was so well organised, with transfer from our hostel to Jou trekking and back, and even to the port the next day! They provided us with shoes to rent, and lots of snacks and great food throughout. The views from the top were amazing, and although the trek was challenging it was definitely rewarding. Would really recommend booking your trek through Jou trekking!

2D1N trip with team Anthon - Ajis - Dan

We did the 2 days and 1 night trip. Initially my wife and I booked to join a group but we were the only 2 hikers on this trip. We were guided by Anthon together with his two porters Ajis and Dan. Anthon was really friendly and helpfull. He is great at feeling the right walking pace and knows everything about mount Rinjani and the surroundings. Ajis and Dan made the most incredible food on the mountains. They set up our tent at the best spot on the crater rim. (We were one of the first to reach the crater summet that day. To summarise; great experience and if you have the chance to get the team Anthon - Ahis - Dan. Don’t hesitate!

Fantastic short trip!

Fantastic view, comfortable tent, nice meals and great guide. It would be too tough trip for people who don’t exercise well in daily life or are family with small kids.

Nice trek with reliable and well organized trekking company

We have booked 3D2N private trek initially (for two of us), but had to change our plans just a few days before the start of our trek, because of the old injury. I was pleasantly surprised how easy Jou was able to adjust the arrangements. (I ended up going solo on 2D1N Senary crater rim trek). Everything was organized very well. My guide and a porter/cook both did excellent job. Food was plentiful and delicious. Equipment was all good. Even the weather was cooperating :-). Overall I would highly recommend Jou trekking for your Rinjani adventure regardless of which route you decide to take. Well organized and accommodating to your needs. I would also recommend the Senaru rim trek if you go for the views. You will spend the entire evening and the next morning enjoying the best views around if the weather is right.

Awesome trek to Rinjani Crater Rim

We had an awesome time trekking Rinjani crater rim with our guide Gul. We were well looked after with plenty of yummy food and good equipment. Also included transfers and lovely accomodation the night before. Definitely recommend!

Beautifull, well arranged trekking with Jou

The Rinjani trekking with Jou was very well organized. They were exactly on time for pick up (all the way in Kuta) and when they dropped us off in the harbour and learned that there was no ferry to gili air anymore, they arranged a private boat for us free of charge!! Just outstanding service. The accomodation the night before the trek also looked nice and the people where friendly there. During the trek, our guide Anton was very friendly and he helped us where ever he could. He waited for us and held my hand on the scary/steep parts of the hike. We also have so much respect for the porters who carried all the camping gear and food up and down hill (this is so unbelievably heavy). The food that they cooked was also very nice and more than enough. With Jou, all you have to think about is walking, they arrange everything else!

Rinjani Crater Rim Reflection

My partner and I booked the 2 day, 1 night crater rim tour with Jou and his team. It was organised excellently from start to finish. Our guide, Sultan and porters/chefs, Satar and Helik looked after us impeccably throughout the trek. Sultan guided us seamlessly to the 2nd summit in the dark of early morning, for sunrise. Watching the porters fly up and down the mountain with all the gear was a pretty awe-inspiring sight. These blokes are seriously impressive. Our drivers for pick up and drop off were also punctual, even early. To top off the trek package, we were treated to a Bintang in an icy-cold glass.

Amazing Team for great Trekking Experience

We booked a 2D1N to the crater rim with Jou Treeking and couldnt be happier. The whole team is super friendly and Jou is an amazing and caring organizer that really has your care and the care of the mountain at heart. "Ah-ouey" (sorry) our guide secured one of the best spot for the night and the two awesome porters cooked us diverse and great food. We were lucky enough to get different type of weather once at the crater rim - even a rainbow! We would definetly recommend going with Jou for the trek.

An amazing - and tough - experience

We had a tough (the trip) but amazing experience with our guide Nas from Jou Trekking. The trip was well organized, starting in a nice hotel in Senaru. The next day we started with the trip. It was a hard climb to all the 4 different POS and to Base camp. But we enjoyed a good lunch and got enough water and snacks from the guide Nas. The second night/day was a tough but amazing experience to the summit with spectacular views. We also had enough water and good meals that day. The walking took up to 5 hours the first day and 10 hours the second day. The sore legs afterwards are definitely worth it. We would certainly recommend a trekking with Jou. Especially because he supports the whole local community with his trips! We did the private tour which took 2 days and one night.

Excellent 2D1N Trek

Nas was our guide for 2D1N crater rim trek. He is incredibly kind, patient and supportive throughout the whole trek. He got us up the mountain in 7 hours, at our own pace with breaks and a lunch stop. Nas made sure every single thing we needed was accounted for - great hospitality! Trekking with Jou trekking was a very professional experience from start to finish, the porters are exceptional from carrying equipment, setting up camp and toilet facilities, food catering - there was so much food we had to ask for less! Transfers to and from accommodation before and after the trek & all the camping equipment was in perfect condition. Thankyou Nas! (Nas bagus!)

An amazing jungle & mountain experience

Very good trek ! :-) We did this adventure between sisters and we would do it again! The road was changing from the jungle to the moutain slope, surrounded by monkeys, it was very sportive but not impossible. The food was varied and the tour was well organised. Beautiful sunset at the top but careful it's cold. A big thank to our guide Sultan for his smile and little attentions. Also a word for the carryiers who are very brave and carried our food and tents. We hope they are well paid in regard to the immense effort. We wish you best, Anasthassia & Alexandra

Excellent company!

We booked the 2day/1night tour from Senaru with Jou Trekking and it was the best decision ever. Owner, Jou, is very approachable and he made all the necessary arrangements so transfers, overnight at hotel etc went smoothly. Our trek guide, meng, is an energetic and humorous chap who speaks excellent English. He made the challenging trek a lot easier with his never-ending jokes.Trash was a major problem at the crater rim. I saw many other porters dumping trash behind bushes. But not Jou Trekking! Our trek guide and porters bagged all our trash and brought them back down from the mountain! Jou Trekking took great care of us and the environment! Highly recommended! Thank you Jou Trekking for a great trek!

I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone, especially if you have Awe as your guide. The view was breathtaking, and the sunrise and sunsets were just as impressive. Mount Rinjani

We climbed Rinjani 2D1N Crater Rim with Jou Trekking and had a very wonderful trip. The gear was very good, the food was excellent but the best was our guide, Lim and the porters. They did an excellent job and we were very well looked after. I would highly recommend these guys. Lim speaks great english and worked especially hard for our group. He took excellent care of our group and acted very professionally in all aspects of the trip. Thanks Lim and Jou Trekking for this unforgettable trek. I'll definitely be back!

A memorable experience in safe, supportive hands

Beautiful forest and savannah on the way up, cute macaques, very professional, empathetic, well equipped and kind local guide - we felt safe at all times and he seemed to know when we needed help. Amazing porters/cooks who prepared plenty of good food. Cozy tent, comfy sleeping bags and mattresses. Amazing views of the active volcano, lake, peak and sunset in the opposite direction. Good weather on the way up, stormy overnight and raining most of the way down so slow and slippery, but all part of a rain forest experience and the guide was patient and helpful with our descent. We were also grateful for our homestay at the bottom and a subsequent relaxing trip to Gili Air. Wouldn't have wanted to miss any of it (well, maybe less rain 😉). Don't hesitate to try this if you enjoy hill walking. Footwear with good grip is essential and at least 1 walking pole advisable, especially on the way down. Also a fleece and light waterproof/poncho at the top - our guide produced a poncho for each of us on the way down and also a couple of poles, though I had taken my own because I use them at home.

Amazing experience in Indonesia - must try!

We had an excellent experience with Jou Trekking! The food, campsite, and camp amenities were spectacular. Jou’s team did a really amazing job setting everything so we’d have lunch and a comfy campsite set up by the time we arrived at each destination. Our guide Jule and porters did a great job to every detail and accommodated our schedule. Jou helped us find shoes and provided walking sticks, water and other useful items. The trek itself is very well-maintained. It’s a great entry experience for beginner trekkers who are venturing into longer hikes. The scenery is beautiful! 5/5 experience

What an experience!

We booked this trip online at home, but because of some bad luck we tried to change the date in a rush, two days before the new date. Jou was very flexible and kind. The pick-up and drop-off went very smooth and the hotel they brought us to was actually beautiful (in the middle of the jungle). Maybe you have time to see the beautiful waterfalls nearby like us. Jou arranged that for us without hesitation! The next day we started the climb with our guide Lim, who was thoughtful, knowledgable and kind. We loved the conversations and he was always making sure everything was at our pace or our liking. The climb was really tough, but so worth it! We felt spoiled the entire time. We got good sleeping equipment (even pillows), they set up our tent, made a toilet, gave us an overload of good and warm food. Water was plentyful (even some cold sodas and snacks!). And they even dragged camping chairs and table to the top! We are still amazed at how amazing it was. So worth it!

Amazing experience

Absolute must do on Lombok! Jou Trekking is very professional. Our guide, Jou, made sure we were okay all the time. Enough drinking water, snacks and the food was just amazing. The porters prepared the best food, set up our camp at an amazing spot with view on the crater. They even provided a pretty decent matress and pillow. When I twisted my knee on the way back, we went down at a very easy pace and Jou even carried my backpack and arranged a car for the last part. We saw other camps with much less food, no table and chair, no matresses, walking sticks, toilet tents and so on. So allow yourself a good trip and book with Jou Trekking!

Amazing Trek company

(Mount Rinjani Tour LOMBOK) We have just returned from our trip and can honestly say that it was one of the best experiences we have had! We had a great group and our guides Lim and Jule were excellent! They went above and beyond to ensure that the trip was special for everyone! The porters provided us with lots of tasty food, a nice tent and an unexpectedaly necessary walking stick. They were very mindful of our trash, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be the case with some other hikers/companies. Overall a great experience, highly recommended!!

Trip of a lifetime

Totally recommend a trip with Jou Trekking. Lim, our guide, was really nice and helpful, because I got some cramps in my legs at the end of the climb and he carried my bag for me and also massaged me legs! He helped us in every way he could do. The climb was hard, but it was also fun.The porters were absolutely amazing too! Hey carry everything to the top, they prepare our food and do the clean up, set up the tents, take them down, etc. The food was surprisingly delicious! They offered a wide variety of meals: from rice and soup to spaghetti with meat and tomatoe sauce to sandwiches to popcorn to chicken, etc. I highly recommend Jou's company and also Lim and his team!

Don’t book with anyone else!

So glad we booked though Jou. The booking process was super easy and the transfers to anywhere on the island was such a bonus. The food was amazing, we were never hungry and the other climbers were jealous of all the food and snacks that we had! The tent and set up was great and everything was clean and of great quality. The best thing was the quality of our guides Sultan and Josie, they allowed us to go at our own pace on the way up and provided so much motivation getting down with a sore knee. Can’t recommend enough!

2D1N Crater Rim

We chose the 2D1N trip to the crater rim because it is most suitable for beginners. Took us 7 hours starting from the gate to reach the crater rim, where we camped at night and started descending the next day which took us 6 hours. This view is definitely worth it! This company really cares about the enviroment, for instance, they will give us discount if we help them bring the trashes down. They also provided us delicious foods and comfortable beds. I really recommend you do your trek with this company

Amazing Rinjani

We had a memorable 2 day one night trip up to the Rinjani crater rim with Jou Trekking. What an amazing experience and made possible by Jou and his team. Our guide Ronnie looked after us from start to finish and our two awesome porters cooked us 3 delicious meal and the best banana fritters. Waking up in our tent overlooking the Rinjani lake on one side and the east coast of Lombok and the Gilis on the other made the climb up and down worthwhile. Our legs ache today, the day after but we still have smiles on our faces. A big thanks to Jou and his team.

Incredible experience, professionally organised

We had an amazing time on our trek with Jou Trekking. Jou contacted us beforehand to arrange pick up from Bangsal Harbour to Senaru. Accommodation is provided the evening before the trek, which has everything you need. We also were able to get a bonus guided tour of the nearby waterfalls, which were incredible. The trek itself is very well organised, me and my wife had a personal guide who was fantastic and went at our pace so we could make it to the crater rim. Also, provided are porters who take food, tents etc. to make the experience more comfortable. You get a lot of great food on this trek considering you are eating on a mountain! The views at the crater rim are phenomenal and well worth the effort. If you are considering taking on the challenge of mount Rinjani I would 100% recommend using Jou Trekking. You won’t be dissapointed.

Wow, what a great experience! The trip is amazing, very hard but it’s worth it. The company is well organised and they do a great job. We had an amazing guide, Lim. Very experienced, always smiling, good conversations and very helpfull at the bad moments during the trip. The equipment, food and drinks are more than enough and very good. Also very respectful for the mountains, they grab all the garbage what they find on their way. Good to see how they work to keep the nature clean. I can really recommend this company and especially the guide and porters! Be prepared and go! This will be an amazing journey😃🌋

Great Trekking Experience With 63 y/o Dad

Choose Jou Trekking. Their level of professionalism is really high and the team knows exactly how to make your holiday and unforgettable one. Easy climb? Not exactly. Worth the effort? Most definitely! My dad and I had a great time trekking up to the crater rim. Our guide, Su and our porters did an excellent job in leading the way up to the rim. Especially Su, who's English is fantastic, took his time in explaining us about local flora and fauna and he always acted upon our requests immediately. Our meals were freshly prepared and catered to our needs. Your guides will make sure that you are never hungry. Should you attempt this trek if you've never climbed a mountain before? Yes, you could. However, expect a grueling 7-hour climb and 5-hour descent. So make sure you've got a reasonable fitness level. Not recommended for children. Thank you Su for and amazing time. You'll see us back when the summit reopens!

Highlight of our trip!

Of the many things we experienced during our two week trip around Lombok, the trek on Mount Rinjani was the highlight of our trip. We organized our trek through Jou Trekking, and Jou was incredibly flexible and accommodating of our schedule. We were able to make a detour to see additional waterfalls during our arranged pick up from Kuta, start our trek at a later time, and schedule our night of included accommodation after the trek. Jou was very professional and responsive, and was kind enough to help us facilitate additional things after our trek, including drivers and other guided hikes. It’s clear he cares about helping to preserve the mountain for future visitors to enjoy. The trek itself was incredible. All the camping equipment, meals, and water was carried by our guide and porters up and down the mountain, so we were only responsible for our personal belongings. Our porters, Zaen and Hill, took great care of us, making delicious meals (we particularly enjoyed the fried bananas with chocolate sauce & cheese - sounds like a strange flavor combination, but so tasty!) and setting up our camp in the best spot on the mountain. They also packed out all our garbage and even collected garbage that had been left behind by previous visitors. It was humbling to watch them effortlessly carry everything balanced on their shoulders up and down the mountain, and in flip flops no less. Our guide, Josi, was excellent. He was a clear communicator who kept us entertained with stories about his life experiences and his hundreds of treks up and down the mountain and answered our many questions about the local culture and lifestyle. We enjoyed his company so much that he lead us on a tour of the nearby waterfalls and on a sunrise hike we’d been planning to do the morning following the trek. While we are both fairly experienced hikers, it was comforting to have someone with local knowledge and experience to guide us. We highly recommend booking with Jou Trekking!

Just perfect

We did the 2 day one night Mt. rinjani trek with Jou trekking. Everything from start to finish was amazing. Jou and team are professional and very well organised catering with first class professionalism every detail from the quality tents, sleeping bags, mattresses to the amazing food. Who would expect a steak on a mountain climb. The guides were amazing, explaining everything and always ready to help out. The porters and camp crew catered to our every needs, setting up our very comfortable camp. Overall, we're so glad that we chose Jou Trekking and would recommend to everyone if they want to embark on a Rinjani journey!

AMAZING!

Jou Trekking was amazing from beginning to end! The communication and transport setup was easy and the trek was AMAZING!!!! On the morning of our hike we were met with a pick up from our accommodation by our guide Josi. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Josi and the two porters serves us amazing food, as well and even did vegan options for my vegan girlfriend, too. Overall we had some of the most delicious food on our travel through Bali and Lombok served by the Jou trekking. Josi and the porters really care about the environment, too, We highly recommend doing this track and booking it with Jou!

We booked the 2D1N to senaru crater. They collected us from bangsal port and drive us to Rinjani Light House hotel which is beautiful and clean. The entire trek was very well-planned. The guides and porters were fantastic and it was so impressive to see the 3 course meals that they could cook on a mountain. The view is spectacular both at night and during sunrise. We used Jou Trekking and they were fantastic!

Jou trekking is the best

We had the best experience with this trekking company. Fantastic!

Jou trekking is a wonderful company. The service we were given was outstanding! Our guide kario was extremely caring and giving, taking special care of us throughout our trip. He and the porters cooked the most amazing food and my tent was at the best camping site as the volcano is just right in front of my tent!
