A first class experience

I can not fault anything about my trip. It was truly amazing. The hotels were absolute luxury, the staff everywhere were polite, helpful, and so attentive. The places I went were exactly what I was hoping for and some of the places I will be returning to, as I would like to spend more time. Two of these being the Folk Museum and time on a houseboat again. I have already recommended this company to friends. In particular George who organised my trip and Mr. Lalan who was my driver and guide.

Great memorable family vacation trip

It was great and memorable family trip. Our vacation started from Cochin-Munnar-tekkedey-allepey house boat stay-kovakam and Trivandrum, it was a 8 days trip, Iris staff took care of our early check-in at Cochin and Driver Saju was very helpful and needful in all ways. Drove us round safely giving us some tidbits about the area. And took good restaurants as per our need and on time. Kerala experience.

Fantastic holiday touring around Kerala with our driver Mr Lalan. The tour was organised by George and tailored to suit us. Great communication both before and during the trip. Visited tea plantation and museum in the hills, Thekaddy lake and nature reserve, Kovalam beach area and Kochi. But the highlight has to be the houseboat cruising the backwaters. Great value for money.

Awesome Honeymoon

This review has been long overdue. We used Iris Holidays to plan our honeymoon in May 2019/June 2019. We travelled from Canada to India for the very first time. Our travel advisor Saranya went above and beyond in answering all our questions and making changes to hotels and places to visit as we preferred without any hesitancy. When things did not go as wr planned at one of the resorts, Saranya was there to listen to our concerns and immediately responded by upgrading us to a much better resort. Overall, it was a very well planned out honeymoon. They also helped us to book out resort and flights to Maldives, as an extension of our honeymoon.

Solo trip Kerala

From the pick-up at the airport and drop-off at the Kochi railway station everything was wel organized. All the booked hotels were very nice and the sight seeing well choosen. Tour organiser give you confidence to book with this company

We discovered Iris Holidays quite by chance when researching our independent travel to India. We had a response to our first email from Arun Dev. Arun is an excellent communicator his response times are really good. We had many questions he was always patient came up with ideas and suggestions. We designed a tour together and with his excellent skills as a tour organiser he gave us the confidence to book with Iris. We had a hiccup trying to pay the deposit he was there to assist. He kept in continual contact throughout. He always gave good clear instruction. We were provided with a WhatsApp number too should there be any problems. Certainly would recommend this guy . We saw some fabulous scenery and have great memories of places we saw and the people we met He also arrange taxis for us after our tour ended. He provided full details of the drivers checked they were arriving on time and that our journeys were completed. It was a pleasure to travel with both drivers we enjoyed both trips. Whilst dealing with Arun we felt in very safe hands. We wish Arun all the very best and hope that his career goes from strength to Strength. Arun thank you. However our driver \ guide Lalan we would NOT recommend for UK tourists. His car was always very well presented and he was always on time His driving was absolutely dreadful. We travelled around Munnar doing a maximum of 20 mph in second gear the whole day. He called every car to pass us it was painful going up the hills really it would have been quicker to walk. Things didn't really improve for the rest of the time with him. On more open roads we went up a gear or two but he kept veering off to the left hitting the cats eyes and jerking back into the lane. We should have contacted Arun for help. Hindsight is wonderful His English was basic and we felt he played this to his advantage. Some days he would have lots of information to share but if we asked a question we could not really get a reply.. He wasn't prepared to explain what we would see day to day he would only say I take you. We asked several times to go to Echo Point and Matupetty dam but he kept ignoring us. We never got there. Some days he would take us from hotel to hotel and expect to go at lunchtime and see us next morning. So if you get this guy do your homework speak to the staff at the hotels who were extremely helpful to us and make sure as we had to to tell him where you want to go. We were very disappointed with him. Sadly to say he wasn't always courteous or polite either We should also add several of the comfort stops he made were of poor standard when we asked could we fine another we got yes yes but he didn't stop!! The final straw was when he dropped us at our final hotel. He insisted we complete a questionnaire and made a complete nuisance of himself at reception. He would NOT leave. We asked the staff to speak with him to explain the form was not compulsory and it was not convenient right then. But he still would not leave it really was embarrassing.

Great way to visit Kerala

we booked a ten day tour with Iris holidays - The organisation of the holiday with George was amazing. the quality of the hotels was great always securing us with large suites and private bungalows. Our driver was great and gave us a hassle free tour of the area.

Fantastic and stress-free holiday

I can highly recommend this company for organizing a tour around Kerala. During planning and throughout the trip, Arun Dev, the trip designer, was extremely attentive, answering questions quickly and checking in regularly. The driver, Vipin, was fantastic! He was knowledgeable about the areas, had excellent recommendations for activities and was very friendly. But most importantly, he was an expert driver! Five star experience with Iris Holidays

If you want to get to know the wonders that Kerala has to offer then look no further than Iris Holidays. Myself, a British sixty seven year old recently retired teacher and my French friend had long cherished a dream to go to India and we eventually made the decision to go. From the moment of booking and then arriving at the very eco friendly solar powered Cochin airport to being met and then taken to our driver, Shajeer, we knew we were in safe hands. We had come with so many hopes of seeing so many things and these were all put into an 11 day package for us, staying in very comfortable 3* hotels. What made the difference though between a busy sightseeing holiday in this beautiful land and an unforgettable experience was our driver and guide for the week - Shajeer. He is totally respectful, understanding and delightfully funny and he takes his responsibility to look after us very seriously. He also listened to our suggestions as to what we may want to do and was able to take us to a local flower market, show us how coconuts are recycled and more things than I can possibly list. I am writing this on our last night in Kerala where we are spending the night on a houseboat. Tomorrow we head back to Cochin to fly to Delhi and from then back to the UK. Before we go we are going to see Shajeer’s wife at his home which is just the sort of personal touch Shajeer adds to this amazing holiday. He is a very happy and modest man, an excellent and very experienced driver and he has really made what was a wonderful holiday, really unforgettable.

Fantastic experience and excellent value for money

First of all, the booking With Iris holidays is very simple and you get a tour that is tailored according to your wishes. Mr Joseph made us feel very safe and sure that we'll get the most out of Our holiday. Iris holidays is a very serious tour operator. The advance payment felt secure and we got all confirmations we needed. He also followed up during the tour to make sure everything went as expected, which it did.In fact, it exceeded Our expectations. We met Our driver/guide Mr Shajeer at the airport. He is a very Nice person With lots of knowledge about the region and he showed us to several attractions we did not know of. He is also a very good driver who made us feel safe in the sometimes very dense Indian traffic. We can give Our best recomendation to Iris Holidays and a special appreciation of both Mr Joseph and Mr Shajeer. One thing to consider, though: if you like something Nice to drink in the Kerala region, make sure you buy it in a store. The hotels and restaurants normally don't serve beer and wine and this can get a bit awkward.

Wonderful, great way to see the area

Booking through Iris holidays took all the stress out of our holiday, and meant we had a very well organised and wonderful trip. Our driver Benny was very competent in the somewhat challenging Indian traffic, and a source of great knowledge on the various places on our route. All of his recommendations were spot-on. The booking process was very smooth and efficient, although we are seasoned travellers we did not speak the local language and found it very helpful to have everything organised for us. The payment was simple by credit card or cash, and Iris holidays checked in a few times during our trip to make sure everything was okay. We chose to stay in more local, Indian owned family businesses rather than chain hotels and we are very glad that we did so. We met some lovely and charming hosts, and also some other interesting travellers.

We have visited kerala in Jan 2020. We had good fun in Kerala. Driver Manoj was very nice, polite and helpful. His car and driving was very comfortable & Safe, specially on hilly areas .

Excellent company in every way

Communication was prompt and helpful, itinerary and hotels superb, plus we had an excellent driver in a spacious Toyota. Three family members, ages 79,74,and 56 enjoyed Kerala immensely. We upgraded to 4-star hotels and they were lovely with attentive staff. Tea plantations, houseboat stay, lovely beach, it was all absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend Iris Holidays.

Amazing Kerala Vacation

We had a great family vacation in Munnar, Kochi and Allepay. All the arrangements were world class and the we had an amazing time with our family of 8. The hotels were great and comfortable. Munnar was very scenic with its tea gardens, waterfalls and farms. Houseboat experience was very unique to experience the backwaters of Kerala and cherish the Kerala hospitality as well as the Karimeen fish. Best and most convenient part of the trip was to have a minivan with its driver and guide with us for the whole trip. Our driver/guide Rithesh was the best and became part of our extended family. He was always eager to make sure we were comfortable and he was able to customize our daily plan based on our needs and at the same time we did not miss any key highlights. Best trip ever!

We had the most amazing time. Booking was very easy with Arun, who checked in with us throughout the trip. The hotels were fantastic and excursions were so interesting. We did everything from tea plantations, houseboats, surfing in Varkala, animal sanctuary and so much more! Can’t say enough amazing things about our fantastic driver and friend, Manoj. He took very good care of us and was always on hand to recommend a place to stop and visit. He navigated complicated roads with ease and was always friendly and pleasant. Highlight of the drive!! Christmas in Kerala

We had a great time . Our guide and companion Babu was simply the best, so good the kids renamed him the legend! Babu enhanced the holiday due to his knowledge and sense of humour. He always had our safety high on his priority list. The tour was fabulous, much better than going it alone IMO

Excellent service and felt very comfortable during our stay. Manoj has looked after us all along the trip from buying coconuts to taking us to shopping malls. We visited Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey, Marari and Kochi. We enjoyed thoroughly and would like to come back to India next year with Iris Holidays. Has to be the best way to visit Kerala

My wife and I took our belated honeymoon in Kerala and this tour exceeded our expectations. Our tour manager, George, was great, giving us an upgrade on a hotel when the prior night's stay was not perfect (not the fault of Iris holidays). We also were able to craft the tour to our taste and budget (we upgraded to 4/5 stars for most of the trip and the hotels were largely great). The highlights for us were Munnar (tea fields) and Allepey (backwaters/canal boat stay) but we also had a great time in Fort Kochi and finishing on the beach in Varkala. Also, special thank you to our excellent driver (and photographer/food guide and all round great guy), Ansu. We were on the road together for 8 days and really got to know each other well and had a great time. I'd highly recommend Iris Holidays and Ansu in particular.

Excellent Tour

This tour package was Awesome, Unparalleled & Unprecedented.Driver Mr. Shijo Kurion is a very amicable & helping natured person. Madam Saranya Prakas & Mr.Vijeesh are also very responsible as well as very prompt attending persons. Awesome vacation

My wife and I recently took a trip with Iris Holidays and we loved everything about it. From the beginning Arun Dev , our tour planner, made excellent suggestions and was flexible when it came to making changes. He met us at the airport and explained everything and then introduced us to our wonderful driver Afsal. The properties we stayed at were all as described but the highlight of the trip was Afsal. He was not only a wonderful driver but spoke excellent English and was a great guide. When my wife had a fall Iris Holidays found us a hospital to get her checked out. Here Afsal proved invaluable when navigating the Indian medical system. Iris Holidays quickly reorganized the houseboat time so we didn’t miss anything. I would certainly book again with Iris holidays when I return to Kerala and recommend them to all my friends.

Munnar/ house boat.

Just completed 5 night 6 day trip with iris to Munnar/tekkady/alleppy and overnight house boat. Everything was arranged perfectly. Shajeer was the driver. Great guy. Felt safe with his driving. Especially important in india if you wanna be relaxed while driving around. Showed us around. On time. Easy to contact with “what’s app”. Definitely recommend iris and Shajeer. Helped me find the beer stores in Kerala. Which is a pain.

A wonderful whirlwind tour of stunning Kerala

Myself and my brother just spent a fantastic week in Kerala, driven by the very capable and friendly Baburaj. After having our itinerary finessed in the previous months by the very helpful Saranya, we were picked up and whisked around a variety of places, starting in Cochin, then on to Munnar for 2 nights, followed by 2 nights in Thekaddy (aka Kumily), and finishing with one night in Kumarakom. The food in all our hotels was exceptional, the places our driver took us to for lunch were also fantastic. Baburaj provided us with plenty of drinking water each day and the car was spacious (and full of chocolates). He also provided us with a wifi dongle for the duration of our trip which was really useful, and helped us organise tickets to Periyar National Park, took us to a Katakali show, helped us make appointments at the Santhigiri spa in Thekaddy (try the one-hour hot oil full-body massage 'Abhyanga'!), and ensured we had access to laundry facilities if needed. When we felt like opting out of one or two items on the itinerary he accommodated us appropriately. We felt in very safe hands at all times. Iris Holidays is a trustworthy company and I'd highly recommend them to any friends thinking of visiting Kerala (which is not the sort of place you want to do a 'self-drive' holiday! ;-)

Great way to sample the diversity of Kerala

Well-organised throughout with a reliable (and good) driver, Mr Bennie, this tour gave a good mixture of hill country, nature, Keralan culture and beach. Apart from the final stay in Kovalam, I would recommend the welcome, quality of service and quality of food in all of the hotels: they exceeded what I would expect from 3* accommodation. For anyone new to Kerala, be aware that road conditions mean slow progress in parts. Despite relatively poor service in the final stay in Kovalam, this did not detract from the tour as a whole which is why it deserves 5*s.

Well organised private tour of Kerala

We arranged an 8 day private tour of Kerala travelling to Cochin, Munnar, Thekaddy and a night on a houseboat in Alleppy. Arun at Iris holidays arranged this for us. I have been to Kerala before so knew what I wanted to book and Arun was brilliant at adapting the schedule, offering advice and getting back to me quickly. Our tour guide/driver was Aflas who was an absolute star. He was professional, courteous, informative, always had a smile and nothing was too much trouble. Without doubt he made our holiday. We would definitely recommend booking a holiday with Iris as they were incredibly professional and organised and we felt we were in safe hands. Of course the real star of the show is Kerala itself, a truly stunning part of the world that you must visit!

Wonderful Kerala

Just returned from our customised tour in Kerala which was wonderful and certainly amazing. All the people we met along the way especially those hotel staff where we stayed were extremely friendly, helpful and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our driver Shijo who was also our guide took us around to places of interest always made sure we were comfortable and anything we asked or wanted to do was not an issue for him. He was a safe driver with alot of experience in this area of work. Despite our initial hesitancy of booking with Iris Holidays, a tarvel agent in another country everything went smoothly from pickup at airport to departure back home so I would recommend Iris Holidays.

Wonderful, relaxing tour of a gorgeous country

We were initially a bit hesitant to book online with a company in a different country without any proof of where we were sending our money, but we're so glad we did! Our tour was completely tailor-made and we got 100% support from Arun right from our initial enquiry to the moment we stepped on the flight home. He and our driver, Mr Benny, made sure we were happy and comfortable at all times. Mr Benny stayed with us throughout and was both a good, safe driver and a charming travel companion. Our itinerary took us from Fort Kochi (Tissas Inn hotel)> Munnar (The Leaf Resort)> Lake Kumarakom (houseboat)> Marari beach (Marari Dreamz homestay) and finally Cherai beach (Blue Waters Cherai). All our hotels were good but the Leaf Resort and Marari Dreamz were really exceptional in terms of location, hospitality and just general loveliness. I'd totally recommend Iris to anyone visiting Kerala for the first time, and look forward to travelling with them again one day.

Our trip started with us being picked from the kochi airport and staying at a hotel nearby. Next day we moved to munnar where we were supposed to stay for two days. On the second day of our stay at munnar we requested for our guide to be changed and next day came Akhil bhaiya. We were two girls traveling alone for the first time so we were very concerned about security. With Akhil bhaiya we felt very safe and our trip became very comfortable.He took us to all the places and made sure we enjoyed our stay there.He made sure that we could buy coconut oil and chips before we leave Kerala and for that he asked the shop owner to open the shop early as we had an early flight. We are so thankful to him as well as Mr.George for assigning him for us. Thank you. We would like to trip with Iris Holidays again.
