Great views but expect large groups on this tour

Lovely tour, but surprised by the scale of this opLarge groups and poor soueration. Expecting a smallish group but at peak season there are multiple boats of 60 people arriving and departing simultaneously at the transfer points just up the gorge. Arrive early at main carpark but allow another 400m walk to jetty check in point. Commentary was good but sound quality over microphone and speakers was distorted and boomey on the first outbound boat, so much that you could not understand any of the briefing and maybe a quarter of what was said on that first section upstream. Up the front is best view, but there even bow ripples compete with sound of commentary. An upgrade is needed.

Beautiful Gorge Under Whelming Tour

The gorge itself is stunning. The tour was difficult because we could not hear what the guide was saying. A word here and there was all we could pick out. We missed out on all the cultural and traditional history 😞 A very under whelming experience. We missed out on seeing an area because we had to wait on a person who walked very slowly with a walking stick, this made our tour late.

Stunning gorge

We had a lovely time on the 2 gorges tour. It was informative and enjoyable for the kids and parents. Stunning landscape. There’s a short walk between gorge one and two. Good to know: The overflow car park for extra cars and caravans is a 5 minute walk from the boat ramp at Nitmiluk Tours Visitor Centre

Katherine Gorge always on my to do list and never disappoints. Did the 3 gorge tour including a swim (although a little chilly). Well organised, knowledgeable crew. Great day out.

Beautiful

We did the 3 gorge tour but could have done the 2 as once you have done one you aren’t really seeing much more. Is very nice scenery and history with the aboriginal people. Good cruise up the river.

Katherine Gorge tour

We did the 3 hour gorge boat tour today. What an amazing day and the guide Jamie was full of knowledge which made the day so interesting. We highly recommend doing this tour. Thank you Jamie for a wonderful day.

Very good scenery

Beautiful scenery good commentary from our guide but the price is very overpriced. Cruised down one waterway then walk to another boat to do the same does not feel good value for $238 for two people.

Absolutely Stunning Scenery

Had an amazing time on the two gorge tour with my family, Russell was our guide and he was fantastic, funny and knowledgeable. Highly recommend, the gorge is absolutely stunning, we did the first one in the morning and it was simply stunning.

My wife and I were the only ones on the tour. Kevin made it really special for us. Managed to see lots of crocodiles. The wildlife was amazing and Kevin was so knowledgeable. Many thanks.

My partner and I had an unreal experience on the Nitmiluk Katherine Gorge Cruise. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, passionate & humorous.

Fabulous cruise

Our guide Russell was awesome: so knowledgeable and highly entertaining! The process of getting us onto the boats and off to walk between the gorge was easy and the river ride was beautiful. We walked to the lookout after the trip and that was spectacular Highly recommended trip !

Good

The tour itself was amazing. However, the information provided before cruise was poor. We were were not told to get there early or that it takes 5 + minutes to walk to the boat. We were also told that no drinks or snacks were provided when they actually were. Boat operator was extremely rude as we were late which was due to no fault of our own as we did allow time to get their earlier and called them also to advise.

4 Hour Nimiluk 3 Gorge Cruise

The gorges are simply breathtaking, best to do the 3 gorge cruise if it fits your budget. There is some walking and stairs between gorges but that's made easier with man made pathways and railings to assist. Bring your bathers for the swim after Gorge #3 at the waterhole. We were given water and nibbles even though the details said no food provided, a nice touch. We visited 15 years ago and I still loved it the 2nd time.

Great cruise

Was a great cruise and very informative. We had a fantastic guide. A must do. The gorge was beautiful and the short walk between gorges was easy and allowed for some great photos

Katherine Gorge …. Do it!!

Great trip, relaxing …. Walks between gorges were very easy as was climb over to waterfall. Saw a few crocodiles thanks to the eagle eye of our guide.

Happy birthday tour

We have done this before but enjoyed it just as much as the first time with the exception that our kids weren’t with us. The only complaint is with TripAdvisor with whom I booked who gave us no information about swimming on the day,so unprepared.

Beautiful scenery with great tour guides

We did the 2 gorge (2 hour) tour which had a little walk to change boats. The path had some steps but was mostly paved. Those with mobility issues will struggle, but there’s a shaded spot to rest and wait. It’s a lot of money to spend to miss out on the full experience. The tour guides were a wealth of knowledge and had an obvious passion for what they do. Would recommend to do.

Beautiful landscape

Location is spectacular. It would have been nice for a welcome to country or acknowledgement before setting off on cruise.

Excellent way to spend the afternoon

Great 2pm cruise. Landon was great informative and a natural. Lovely way to spend the afternoon and learn about Indigenous culture and natural habitat. Bonus of seeing 3 crocs.

Katherine 2 Gorge tour

Excellent tour of Katherine Gorge, we did the 2 gorge tour as that was operating at this time of year in April 2024. The guide was excellent and very knowledgable. Worth doing and highly recommend.

The water falls were beautiful with a lot of water going through them. The tour guide was very informative and funny with a good knowledge of the places we visited. He also kept us inform about how long we will be driving to the next site. The tour bus was very comfortable. When the water is high, I would remove the hot spring from the itinerary since there is nothing to see.

Waterfall swimming at its best

Our guide Russell was very informative and engaging with some good humor thrown in as well. Our swim at the rock hole was amazing but unfortunately my husband (due to a legacy of football injuries) was unable to do the trek over the many rocks to the hole.

Jamie's introduction to country!

Wet season, wet wet season, dry season any season at all Nitmiluk/Jamie and the crew have got a tour for you. Just Spectacular

Had the most amazing tour along Katherine Gorge our tour guide James gave heaps of facts and information as we travelled along the gorges. The views are spectacular. We had a swim in one of the watering holes and can say what a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

James (our guide) fantastic! Magical scenery. Walk btw gorge 1&2 challenging in parts for a senior with a bad knee. Take it easy - definitely worth it.

Very good tour!

Was a very good tour! Eloise (our tour guide) was very informative and funny. It was good to learn about the Indigenous history of the land. Saw a Freshwater Crocodile too. Was nice to be able to have a swim in the water (in the area that crocs can't access).

Beautiful Cruise

Did the two gorge tour and even though there isn't a lot of difference, it was good to see both. The two gorges are separated by about 200 meters of flat paths but you can wait for the ride back if you decide not to walk to the 2nd gorge. Keep an eye out for freshwater crocs and maybe even fish. Our guide was a very knowledgeable local.

Spectacular gorge knowledgeable guide but need to streamline systems for departure

Spectacular gorge knowledgeable guide and well worth doing the cruise. We did the 2 gorges cruise as we'd done the 3 gorge cruise a couple of times. The views along the 2 gorges are spectacular and the guide provided interesting commentary about the landscape, wildlife and indigenous and European history. My one complaint was the fiasco at the dock prior to the cruise. Given its been running for years and run multiple times a day everyday you'd expect they would have some system in place. No signage to instruct people to line up and none to define 2 and 3 gorge cruise lines so that we could board the different boats in an orderly fashion. A manual system of ticking off each passenger from a printed list and only 1 person doing that job for multiple tour buses and individual toursts all departing at the same time!

Life highlights

Russell’s commentary and humour kept us entertained- beautiful views of the gorge- Adams skill cooking on the boat was captivating- meals and presentation was 6 star - the attendants were extremely proficient and accommodating- thanks Dan Max and Silvana - best meal I’ve eaten in years- crocodile and kangaroo and barramundi and rib fillet and the sides were delicious

Outstanding experience - views, commentary and food.

I’d originally planned to do the dawn cruise, but there wasn’t availability on my date, so I booked the dinner cruise the evening before. Serendipitous choice. The cruise itself was extremely enjoyable - I’d been wanting to visit the gorge for many years and the cruise, and commentary from our guide, were both excellent. What was a surprise however was the quality of the dinner - outstanding, cooked on board, in a pretty small kitchen. One of the best meals I had in Australia (and there were a lot of really good meals - so strong competition). I had the barramundi - which was delicious - the best barramundi I’ve ever had.
