Bruny Island Food, Sightseeing, Guided Lighthouse Tour & Lunch

What a fantastic day!

Our tour guide Rick was an absolute wealth of knowledge. We were picked up on time and were given a great commentary the whole day. The Oysters and cheeses in the morning were among the best I’ve tasted, the guided light house tour was brilliant and lunch at the Bruny Hotel was amazing (including the mulled cider). Rick, who was friendly and approachable could not do enough to make sure our day was memorable. He also had great local knowledge of Bruny which added to the experience. I would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone!

It was a great trip excellent food and commentary

The guide Grant was excellent full of information with great stops all along Bruny island . The food was great with stops at a honey shop and chocolate store and Lunch at the only pub on the island.

Great food tour!

The food tour was great, Rick was a wonderful guide that knew almost everything and everyone on the island. The food was really good, my favourite was definitely the cheese. The fish and chips at the Hotel Bruny were a bit too oily and not salty enough, which is strange cause other dishes were a bit too salty. All in all, it was a great tour to do for a chill day! Loved the stories about the island the most!

Must take trip

Our tour was very well planned. There were ample stops for the people to sightsee the beauty of Bruny island. Interesting facts were shared by our tour guide and he was quite accommodating with the tour group. A hearty lunch was planned after a long day which was truly an experience. We had a lot of fun!

Great day out

Such a good day out. Grant was a super tour guide and an absolute wealth of knowledge. Going up the lighthouse was a great experience. Honey tasting, Morning tea, lunch and Chocolate tasting were a great part of this Bruny Island experience.

We had a great day. this is the second time we have done this tour. Rick the guide was on time for pickup, full of interesting info about the area, and happy to assist to make the day great. The trip to the Light House was the highlight. Morning tea of cheese, bread stick, and oysters was to look forward to. Lunch at the Bruny Hotel (included) was a seafood platter for two. And a visit to a Chocolate then, Honey outlet, rounded the day off. Not to mention the lovely country side and beaches. It was winter, but all well worth it. A full day tour, but nothing strenuous you have to do. Highly recommend.

Excellent tour

Amazing view and delicious food! The morning tea that we had was lovely our lunch was one of the best foods I've had in Tassie. The chocolate and honey shops were really great too and we all had a lot of fun. Weather was quite chilly at the lighthouse so I'd recommend others to get rugged up! Shoutout to Grant for being such a wonderful guide and thank you!

A Delicious day at Bruny Island

Top marks to our driver and tour guide Dave. The weather on our day trip wasn't the best but Dave's knowledge of the island, it's weather patterns and its locations made it a truly enjoyable day. Such are the joys of taking a Bruny Island Safari in the middle of winter in southern Tasmania. We started of our tour at Bruny Island Honey tasting the local honeys and purchasing some of the delights to enjoy at home. Our small group then became close friends as we huddled under a covered picnic area watching the rain. Our comradery grew as we feasted on (Get Shucked) oysters plucked fresh from the sea only hours before as well as a selection of Bruny island cheeses and crusty bread. While Tea and Coffee were on offer, I chose a piping hot chocolate to warm myself against the cold. After this wonderful repass, we enjoyed a leisurely drive around the island as Dave pointed out the highlights, spoke of the history and practiced his dad jokes. The highlights for me were The Neck Lookout and the Bruny Island Lighthouse, though be aware that both of these require a moderate level of fitness to ascend and enjoy the full experience. Of course, the food was amazing, with a hearty lunch at Hotel Bruny, tastings at The Bruny Island Cheese and Beer Co, and Bruny Island Chocolates and Fudge. If you go home hungry after this tour you only have yourself to blame. Highly recommended regardless of the weather.

A Great Day Out on a Perfect Day.

The lighthouse views were seen on simply the best, dry, clear and sunshiny day. Good commentary by our guides, top oysters, and a tasty seafood chowder for lunch. It comes well recommended.

Relaxing 1 day tour at the Bruny Island (Food, Sightseeing, Guided Lighthouse Tour & Lunch)

Lee was our tour guide cum driver. He is very knowledgeable and has a good sense of humour. The day trip was very well planned, and Lee even offered to add extra sightseeing since we finished the itinerary earlier than what was scheduled. I enjoyed all the food tasting and the easy walk to the sightseeing. Side note: I had 6 oysters as there were 4 vegetarians in our group. I highly recommend this tour package.

Wonderful day out on Bruny!

I absolutely loved the day on Bruny! Our guide, Dave, was very kind and knowledgeable- he shared lots of insider information on the island and its history, and took us to various interesting spots. We got to taste so many delicious foods from makers around the island and saw four white wallabies (and many more traditional wallabies)! I’m not sure I’ve ever been to another place so beautiful before nor taken so many photos- Bruny is incredibly serene and breathtaking. I highly recommend this experience.

A very happy tourist

Overall a very pleasant experience. The Guide is so friendly & caring. Like the way he told us to do an introduction of ourselves so we know who we are travelling with. Thank you for preparing the simple but good breakfast with oyster, cheese & bread. A very experienced guide who know the surrounding very well. We have enjoyed the whole trip. Also like to mention the guide at the light house. He sharing was amazing, love his passion. Will definitely share this with my friends. Good job! A good recommendation by the recep at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Fun and enjoyable tour

Very well organised tour, jam packed and got to see Bruny Island in a day! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and all of the snacks and lunch were delicious. We even got to see the white wallaby! Our tour guide James was friendly and funny, thanks for keeping us safe! I highly recommend this tour, everything was included in the costs so we didn’t need to worry about anything.

Fantastic Day

Rick was a fantastic guide, it was a small group of only 5 being a cold Monday. the food was great ...made my husband and I converted to loving the oysters 'Get Shucked oysters are Amazing on Bruny Island...we saw so many white wallabies and the tour of the lighthouse was unbelievable so beautiful thank you so much. The lunch at Hotel Bruny was 5star

One day tour with a mix of everything

My guide Leigh has a great sense of humour, knowledgeable, and friendly. Well fed with delicious cheese, especially 1792, oysters, honey, lunch, and chocolate. Leigh recommended the Bruny Island cider (not included in the tour) and it’s divine. I wanted to have it again the day after but couldn’t find it anywhere in Hobart, regret not buying more of it while I was on the island. The scenery along the way was beautiful. The highlight were The Neck and the lighthouse. It’s one of the greatest day in Tasmania. Som

Great way to see Bruny Island.

We had a great day. The lunch at the Pub was great. The cheeses were very tasty. The chocolate and the honey stops were very good.

Breathtaking Bruny has it all!

What a wonderful adventure on Bruny Island. Our tour guide picked us up around the corner from our hotel. He was a local with a fabulous insight and humour into The Island history, its flora fauna, the local Palawa woman legendary Trugannini. We enjoyed local delicacies of Bruny Oysters, The Chocolate Company Honeycomb and sampled creamy local cheeses. Our pub meal didn’t disappoint served with The famous Bruny Island Cherry cider. The small tour of 12, was a perfect number. We were treated to the most spectacular views with every turn, caught a glimpse of a White Wallaby and Palemelon and climbed The second oldest lighthouse in Australia with the most dramatic coastline as its backdrop. We will return in the future. We had a fantastic experience on Bruny Island it was a perfect way to spend our 30th Wedding Anniversary I would highly recommend it.

Couples Day Trip to Bruny

Our first trip to Tassie and we were very excited to visit Bruny Island for the day. Our guide Rick was extremely informative and obviously is very passionate about what he does. Nothing was too much trouble and he catered for all of the different personalities on board. We loved the lighthouse tour, our yummy lunch at the pub and trying all of the different foods and treats that Bruny has to offer. A wonderful and especially scenic day. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience with in depth history.

Bruny island is one special place that everyone should go in their lifetime. Dave was an awesome guide that went above and beyond in providing niche insights into Bruny history and sights.

Overall a very worthwhile experience; however some logistics issues prevent it being an excellent one unless resolved.

Our very knowledgeable and energetic driver/guide, Rick worked tirelessly and effectively to ensure an enjoyable and informative day for participants. However there are three serious flaws: 1. the seat backs in the vehicle are too high and seriously impair & restrict visibility for several participants esp towards the back; 2. a small number of seats are totally unacceptably uncomfortable as guests are contorted due to the intrusion of the wheel wells into their leg space; and 3. there should be a pre-determined and advertised swap over of seating positions at least once during the day - the same people were always the first off and others always the last at each of the several stops over the day and also some people suffered the impact of the flaws in 1 & 2 above all day while the privileged few wouldn’t even be aware that these serious problems exist. In summary I rated the trip highly based on the concept and, especially on the efforts and performance of Rick the driver/guide BUT I would (sadly) advise others to think very carefully about whether to sign up unless they can assure themselves that the 3 logistical issues above are resolved.

Must do in Hobart

It was a great day out despite the weather. All the stops were nicely timed. Lunch at Hotel Bruny was yummy. Tour at lighthouse was informative. My kid appreciated all of Dave's puns and jokes. She loves the stress ball signed by Dave :)

Wonderful experience.

Enjoyed our day. Different experiences. Tastings were great. Sights were amazing. The walk up to the lighthouse a little more strenuous than expected. Not for people with disabilities.

Best day out in Tasmania.

Bruny Island is a stunningly Beautiful place, our trip was made more enjoyable by having Rick, whom is a Bruny island local as our driver and guide with his knowledge and passion for the island gave us a small insight into life on Bruny. We took 3 different tours by 3 differing companies and this day trip was by far the best experience of our time visiting Tasmania. A big thank you from us to you. Tony and Mei

So much covered in a day!!!

The tour covered most of the itinerary in Bruny Island. Marina was our tour guide for the day who was well-versed with the island. However felt that it was a bit rushed as the focus was more of getting the group to all the retail shops stops along the way rather than enjoying the island’s beautiful nature. Would have been good if we were able to spend at bit more time at The Neck as only 25 mins allowed (to hike up to the lookout to enjoy the views with hardly any time to walk down boardwalk to the beach). Only a quick stop at Adventure Bay which included morning tea with Bruny Island oysters and cheese. The tour guide did not cover Mount Mangana Rainforests walk and plant tasting which was disappointing, however she drove us to find the white wallaby. Lighthouse tour was amazing it was unfortunate that our group could not walk out the lighthouse deck due to strong wind conditions (for safety reasons). Lunch at Hotel Bruny was good. The seafood on the menu is not available for solo travellers (this could have been easily catered for single servings). I managed to share it with another solo traveller in the group as we both wanted this option. We even managed to do a quick stop at the bread fridge 😊. It was an amazing day with everything covered especially if you do not want to self-drive!!!

A wonderful day exploring Bruny Island

Our day trip to Bruny Island was highly enjoyable. Highlights included sightings of seals, the famous white wallabies and many bird species; morning tea beside the beach and the wonderful views from The Neck and the Cape Bruny Lighthouse, and a delicious lunch at Bruny Hotel. Our guide, Leigh, was very knowledgeable, telling us the history of the island, and providing insights into modern life on the island. The trip was made more enjoyable by the company of our fellow travellers on this small group tour.

Great time at Bruny Island

Our guide, Rick, was very attentive and knowledgeable. Although we had rain in the morning, he managed to adjust the schedule and plan for the day so that we could have the best experience the day could provide. The food was also spectacular. If anyone is to explore Bruny Island, we would highly recommend Rick as your guide.

Light and relaxing day trip at Bruny Island

It was a light day at Bruny Island - checking the lighthouse, relaxing at the port, eating fresh produce (oysters, cheeses, honey, chocolates, seafood). Thanks to our guide's hospitality. Itinerary was well-planned and well-executed. The oysters and honey were exceptional!!!

Great day out

Great day out, from pick up to drop off. Rick, our driver, guide, comedian, caterer and time keeper made the day even better and provided so much info. So many highlights...the Neck, Get Shucked oysters, bread and cheese for morning tea, white wallabies, The Lighthouse, lunch, even a stop at the famous Bread Fridge, and picking up some cheese on the way home. I loved that we were on a schedule, not rushed but no waste of time hanging around. Top day!

Perfect day on Bruny Island

We had a great day on Bruny Island. Leigh was the perfect host, providing us with a background on all the sights. Matt took us to the top of the lighthouse which I highly recommend. The weather was also great! Thanks Leigh and Matt.

Fun day trip

We had a fun day with a great guide, Dave, and group of friendly people. The day had great scenery, delicious food, interesting facts and a laugh along the way. We would definitely recommend it if visiting Hobart.

Great tour format - but not food tour - it is a sightseeing tour with food.

This tour is great format and opportunity to see the island from Hobart. However if you are a foodie, I would not recommend this tour. Even though it says food tour, I found was not a food tour for food lovers. There is amazing food, but the guide I had was did not provide an experience I enjoyed or where I felt the appreciation was on the food eg im not going to read those cheese tasting notes as they are wanky. It was a sightseeing tour where the guide did share information about the island but mostly information about himself, rushed us alot and spoke about tour rules excessively.

Great day on Bruny Island

This day trip was a great day out. Grant our tour guide/driver was very knowledgeable about the island and took us to all the well known spots. Pick up and drop off was easy. Food throughout the day was delicious - especially the lunch at the Bruny Hotel. (The lamb was superb). Well organised trip - especially out to the lighthouse. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful Bruny

We had a fanTAStic day exploring Bruny Island with Grant. Beauty at every turn accompanied by delicious food including fresh oysters, cheese, chocolate and honey. Grant was extremely knowledgeable and there were plenty of opportunities to explore and take photos. A definite must do tour when visiting Hobart!
