City Sightseeing Glasgow Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour

Highly recommend

I’d highly recommend the hop on hop off bus tour. The buses run regularly from Georges Square and stops along the way. The staff are all so helpful and friendly. Our tour guide Tracey made the experience for us, she was clearly spoken, very informative, friendly and witty. I originate from just outside Glasgow, but learned many things and visited parts of the city I’ve never visited before. Well worth the price, I’d certainly do it again when I have more time to “hop on and hop off”.

Great tour of Glasgow

Really interesting walk around the sights and history of Gkasgow. Sarah our guide was excellent, she made the history come alive and showed us places that we would not found ourselves. A very worthwhile experience. Thanks to Sarah!

Well worth the price.

We like to do the hop on/hop off bus tours in any city we visit, if available. This one was a good one, not great, but very good. Commentary was good and we learned a lot about Glasgow, which was the whole point. You see a good bit of the downtown areas and it was great to get our bearings before venturing out on our own on foot. Well worth the price and, to be honest, the price is quite affordable, considering what you get. Would recommend!

Fabulous introduction to the city

The bus tour is extremely interesting covering a range of fabulous Glasgow buildings, attractions and highlights. It’s a really useful way of helping you decide what you would like to spend time on. Donna, our guide, was exceptional.. She was well informed, spoke in an interesting way, friendly and passionate about her own city. I remember nearly everything she said.

Great overview of Glasgow

Great hop on hop off bus tour. We had only one full day in Glasgow and this was just perfect. The buses ran frequently and the commentary was either pre-recorded or live.

Lack of communication

No communication with the tour company and viator. We had a problem with the tour operator and there was no way to get ahold of viator.com

Best Way to Learn a City!

I enjoy these hop on hop off tours because you get to see the main sights and get a feel for the city layout. The other benefit is the audio tour of the city which makes it even more informative.

The Hop On Hop Off experience is always informative and helpful to get bearings in a city and see an overview of key sights. Take time to get off when you’d like and visit iconic places along the way. Definitely worth it in Glasgow.

Convenient and friendly guides

Great way to see the city and surrounding areas, very friendly guides and nice to have the audio information.

Glasgow highlights in 90 minutes

Our tour guide Ross and driver Doogie, were fantastic! Riding the bus around Glasgow was the best way to see the city at a 90 minute glance, then figure out where to spend more time exploring. Ross was full of historical stories of the buildings and sites around Glasgow.

Excellent trip

Absolutely excellent experience, took the yellow tour which is new, and goes through also the east end and southside of the city. Was good to see this as a Glaswegian

Waited at Bus Stop for Hours!

Extremely disappointed with your organization! First trip to Glasglow on May 19 with a prepaid ticket for the Hop on and Hop off bus to see Glasgow. Only to find out there would be no bus service that Sunday! There was no sign at the stop indicating no bus service. We waited for an hour and a half. Don't you think you could have notified those with pre ordered tickets? Bad business for tours! Very disappointed!

BAD TOUR YELLOW BUS

We took the yellow bus tour today ay 29 2024. It was the biggest waste of money. Cost 18 GBP each so 36GBP, about 44.50 US dollars. Save your money folks. There was not one interesting thing to see. The guide tape is in English only. We have taken the Red bus and that is great but this is a waste of time and money. We rang the bell to get off at Glasgow Cathedral and the driver kept going. I was half way in the rar of bus and heard the buzzer or tone ring. I told him he would have to take us back he was not happy about that. JUST DON'T GO YELLOW

Great value!

Hop on hop off bus is the best way to see the city of Glasgow. The guide was very knowledgeable and it made the trip enjoyable

Everything was good but the weather!!

Loved the tour as it was hop on hop off we could see the whole city kids liked the open roof before it started raining driver was nice and i personally liked the live tour guide

The Live Tour was Excellent.

We had a brilliant time on the Live Hop-on-Hop-Off Tour in Glasgow. Graham and Stewart were excellent. The dialogue was funny and very informative. Highly recommend.

Excellent way to get your bearings and learn a little of the history and local legends.

Michaela and Craig were the highlight of the tour. They were both so friendly, and I loved the stories and anecdotes. It was a great way to see the highlights of the city in 1.5 hours. We're coming back to Glasgow at the end of the trip and now know which sites we want to focus on.

Donna’s Historic Glasgow

The guide, Donna with red hair, was absolutely amazing. She was so knowledgeable and had great stories about so many places. Mark was the bus driver and he did an excellent job as well. The weather was perfect so we got to ride an uncrowded bus on the top and had a great time.

Overall good, timing, crowding, and guides hit-or-miss

Overall would do again, but the guides were kind of hit-or-miss throughout the day. There were several times that large groups prevented us (party of 2) from boarding, but we just walked the city when that happened. Most beneficial when trying to get to a different part of the city for walking.

Easy to locate,...

Easy to locate, knowledgeable guides. Not clear that every other bus was without a live guide, and we didn't have headphones, so exited and waited for the next one in the rain.

Perfect trip for a short Glasgow stay

We had a half day in Glasgow and decided the only way to get an idea of the city on a rainy day would be the hop on hop off bus. We decided to hop on and stay on for the full 21 stops . There are buses that give you headphones and tell you about Walmart you pass which we started off that way. Then at one stop they told us it would be stopped for 15 minutes but the bus in front was leaving and had a live guide so we changed buses. The guide was lovely. Funny and chatty and explained very well everything we saw. We bought our ticket when we boarded the bus. If you have a half day, it’s a great way to see the city.

Best Hop on Hop Off bus we have been on.

We've been on hop on hop off across the world because they are a good way to know what you want to explore on a city and see what you wouldn't see otherwise. Glasgow is one of the best, for quality of sound by earphone or microphone, for cleanliness and freshness, and for USB charging at every seat. It is not strictly continuous/circular because at stop no 1 there is a brief wait, or change bus. Definitely the best Hop on Hop off we have been on. Thank you Gkasgow.

Great way to see Glasgow

The sightseeing bus was excellent. We went at 10am on Monday. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative. The bus makes it easy to navigate all the main sightseeing places around Glasgow. Very enjoyable.

Great introduction to Glasgow

Did this hop on/off tour on my second day in Glasgow as a bit of an introduction to this city (eventhough I have been before) and an easy way of getting around to the places I really wanted to see. I ended up doing it again 2 days later to visit the places I saw on the first trip but never got to see. 1st stop: Glasgow University (mainly for the cloisters). 2nd stop: Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (I missed this on my previous visit to glasgow so was determined to get there this time). 3rd stop: Tenement House. 4th stop: Glasgow Cathedral/Provands Lordship. Overall the staff and drivers were very friendly and knowledgable (the live guides were fantastic and told great stories). The staff at the 1st stop in george square were also very friendly. This is an ideal way to get around a city to see the major sites.

Recommend

Good way to get a general understanding of the city. Would recommend the one day ticket as a two day does not appear to apply to this city.

Tour of Glasgow Hotels!

Glasgow is a beautiful city with beautiful architecture and history. We had a wonderful weekend exploring, enjoying what the city had to offer. But the redline tour seemed to point out more of the large chain hotels than anything else. Whether this was to fill the times as at least 3 stops were missed due to a football celebration. But this is my lasting memory of the tour, will stick to walking next time.

Mind the guides

nice and informative trip through town. Busses are crowded, but the recorded informations are clear and good understandable. Route is clever choosen so it does make sense to hop-off and hop-on again at various locations. But as soon as a guide enters the bus forget about learning anything. The brutal scottish accent is not understandable for anyone who learned oxford-english at school.

Great way to see Glasgow

Gorgeous views from the top of the bus. Best way to see the whole city. Our tour guide David, on the red line, was very funny and informative.

Good

Good intro to Glasgow. It's quite a long circuit, sometimes it doesn't really work to get where you need to go if you don't want to go the long way around. So pay attention to what direction the bus goes to plan your stops.

Hard to hear the guide due to noisy passengers

A very interesting tour and a great introduction to the city. Our tour was marred by some very noisy children who made it almost impossible to hear the commentary. I think there could be more done to ensure that people who wish to learn about a new city can hear the guide.

Fun way to see the coty

Close to our hotel. Informative and fun experience. Not crowded and always able to find a spot. Guides that we had were good.

Convenient and gives us the gist of Glasgow

A comprehensive tour, providing a good guide to the character of this remarkable riverside city and its architecture - together with excellent, well-informed commentaries from guides who are clearly enthusiastic about their home city. Don't forget to get off at the Transport Museum for a couple of hours. The price, at 18 pounds per person, is reasonable.

Confusing Glasgow hop on off Tour.

Very confusing tour. The bus does not leave from port for tour. You have to purchase a bus ticket to bus station in Glasgow THEN you hop on off begins on another bus. Very crowded and could not get off at any stop for fear we would not get a seat to get back on.

Total Disappointment. If you hop off, you may not get picked back up.

We got off the bus to walk around and when we went back to the next bus stop and flagged the driver down, he made eye contact, shook his head, and kept driving. We jogged up to the next stop and he still wouldn’t let us on- wouldn’t open the door and talk to us. He and the other employee on the bus were actually pointing and laughing at us. We jogged again to the next stop and he drove off again. We finally hailed a taxi to get back to our hotel. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Nice way to see the sites

If you have a choice, choose a narrated bus. We first got on with a canned narration, and when we got back on the bus we got a narrator. Much better. They say it takes about an hour and a half if you stay on the bus, but it was closer to two hours. Definitely lots to see in Glasgow, if you have the opportunity, you need two days.

Easy and fun

Easy way to see a lot of the city. It did take us a minute to figure out that the city bus stops were also the sightseeing bus stops - sightseeing signs were on the bottom at the same stop.

Horrible experience!

We got off at Kelvingrove Park and walked to Botanic Gardens. We waited over an hour at the bus stop to get back on and one finally came but he shook his head and kept on driving. Apparently, they don’t have enough buses on the route. It caused us to miss Glasgow Cathedral, and we had to buy another bus ticket to get back to our area. Total waste of money. I would just use the public transportation to go to sites.

Good tour round lovely city.

Very comprehensive tour with good "live" commentary. Prior to booking I questioned the age range listed (59 and 64) on two different sites. The booking agent could not comment so I booked anyway! We really enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the cheerful agents who kept us company while we waited for the bus to arrive at Stand 1.

Very Helpful

The hop on hop off bus is a great way to be introduced to an area for your visit. They are interesting and informative. It lets you learn about the history of the area, things to do without the stress of having to drive in an unfamiliar place.

The Incredible Glasgow

I enjoyed the tour around the cathedral and the People's palace. I loved how educative the information in the People's palace is. This is in regard to crime and punishment and alcohol abuse. It's a pity it was pouring outside and very cold, so I had to cut my tour short because I am Asthmatic.

Hip hop

Our guide is so good and she explained everything fantastic. We get down at museum and after a hour took another hip hop. Recommended for short term city tour

The personnel at Hop-On Hop-Off offered a nice experience, and were always professional and friendly.

Pleasantly surprised

Had a bad experience with a City Bus Hop on Hop tour in Oslo last year so have tended to avoid them, however got talked into this one by my better half. And have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. The bus was clean and on time, with a knowledgeable and entertaining guide giving an excellent tour around the city, pointing out places of interest and good anecdotes. We actually did this on the last day of a three day trip but we should have done it on our arrival in the city. Can highly recommend.

Handy overview of the city but few stops are worthwhile

It’s a handy way to get around the city, but there’s only a few things you’re likely to want to get off to see. If you do get off, be mindful it’s generally a 30min wait for the next bus, so you want to be sure you have enough to see at the location you get off at. I’d start early in the day so you can take your time and not be bothered by the wait for the next bus if you’re planning to get off at every stop.

Getting familiar with Glasgow, in under 2 hours

I really enjoyed seeing Glasgow, from a refreshing, open-air, top deck of the double decker bus, while listening to lovely music by Eddi Reader, and Neil Oliver describe current and historical facts about this fascinating city. It is so convenient to be able to exit or enter the bus at one of the many interesting stops.
