Excellent return trip from Rottnest Island

Great ferry trip from Rottnest to Fremantle. The boat was quiet, comfortable and on time despite being full. Very capable crew.

Quick and easy

Headed over to Rottnest Island with family and friends. The ride over was a quick half hour but can get quite choppy. If you get sea sick I suggest you sit downstairs in the middle seat. Staff were friendly and it was easy to get on and off.

Exciting boat trips on a windy day

We considered both the Rottnest Express and Sealink but settled on Sealink because we were staying at Fremantle and we could get a ferry which left from and returned there. The Rottnest Express leaves from Perth and returns there with stopovers at Freo. Reviews had mentioned that, on busy days, people getting on the Rottnest Express at Freo sometimes had difficulty finding a seat on an already packed ferry. So, we booked for a Monday 10am departure and there was plenty of room on our ferry with window seats also plentiful. We noted that there was an enormous queue for the Rottnest Express which left just before us and that it was already pretty full when it arrived. We were staying at BeFremantle at the marina so the walk to the ferry stop was a very pleasant 20 minutes along the coast and through the port historical area. On the walk back, we took a different route through the city past some bars and galleries. The day was sunny but quite windy and the 30-minute ferry trip was exciting with spray covering the windows of the lower deck. We don't normally have a problem with seasickness but I was beginning to feel a bit queasy by the time we docked. We'd made the mistake of sitting with our backs to the bow of the ferry. On the return trip, the wind had really blown up and the spray was coming up over the windows of the upper deck. We'd made sure of facing the bow this time and had no problems with queasiness but I noticed that several passengers were looking crook and were anxiously clutching their paper bags. We had a booking for the 90-minute Rottnest Express boat tour which departs at 11.15am from the ferry dock and our punctual arrival at the island gave us time to wander around a bit and get our bearings before embarking on that exhilarating but somewhat frightening trip in rough sea. Knowing that we'd be pretty worn out after the 3 boat trips and quite a bit of walking, we'd booked for the 2.30pm return ferry and were very glad we did. At the time of booking, I was concerned that we might be leaving the island too early but, nothing felt rushed, including our lunch at The Lane Cafe. By the time we got back to our apartment, we were ready for a rest before heading off for our 6.15 dinner booking at Char Char.

Great service

We couldn’t make the ferry to Rottnest island and SeaLink allowed us to change dates without any penalty. We had an awesome time

Great service. Easy to manage reservations. Bike rental was fine. Decent quality bikes. Very nice staff. Rottnest is gorgeous!

What a day! A unique experience that has something for everyone. History, wildlife, relaxation, active adventures. Great food and stunning scenery. We took the first ferry over, rented e-bikes, and enjoyed a full day of snorkelling, touring, swimming, eating, learning and bonding.

Comfortable and informative trip

Our Sealink trip was very good. Easy boarding, polite staff, clean vessel and informative commentary. Nice sitting on the upper deck to appreciate the views of the Swan River. Would certainly recommend

Great staff

Terrific staff and really impressed with the whole service. We arrived in time to catch the earlier ferry and literally jumped on and headed over to Rottnest Island. So easy and really comfortable

Not great customer service

The website says one price (for 4pm return, 7am start) but doesn’t work and the phone team don’t honour it = false advertising and I was told I was wrong despite screenshots. Female phone team pretty sassy and managed to get my email wrong without confirming, the result was a charge and no ticket. On the day I had to run around because I wasn’t emailed a ticket and at the office I was printed a ticket and told I would now get them emailed- instead I got two welcome to Rottnest maps and no tickets. Overall pretty poor customer service.

Excellent service

Great trip to and from Rotto. All our suite cases and other items where delivered and picked up on our departure from our villa.

Great first trip

I had an excellent time at Rottnest on my first visit. I enjoyed the food on offer. The cycling experience was great. The island has a good vibe and is clean. Also nice to see the Quokkas; they are very friendly.

Chasing the Quokka’s

It was so easy to book and a nice smooth trip to the Island, Such an awesome place to see , The Quokka’s are so use to humans that they just sit around and mingle with everyone, the beaches are absolutely beautiful, we only went for the day, needed more time here

Actually sitting down on the boat. After been moved 3 times to the right waiting area to catch the boat. No signage.

To Rottnest and back by ferry

We were completely satisfied with our roundtrip ferry experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the ferry was comfortable with lots of good seating and wonderful views. We would definitely recommend this trip to Rottnest.

Service was good and the best thing was the punctually we departed! The way back the staff provided little ice lollipops and that was great! Also, the conditions of the ferry were excellent! Very recommended

An idyllic place for a day trip or longer stay .

A must see for those visiting Perth . Rottnest Island is just idyllic. We caught the ferry over and walked around seeing Quokkas within minutes . We opted for a snorkel and went on the hop on hop off bus. The fish were plentiful and the water pristine. We had a delicious pizza at Hotel Rottnest and tried the local bakery for a good croissant and coffee .

We rode all around the island hopping on and off our bikes and swimming in the beautiful water was a memorable day

We had a great day on the Island, perfect weather. Seen Quokkas, Dolphins, Seals & the native Dugite snake. Amazing vistas at every turn, well worth the trip & highly recommended.

Worthwhile

A clean and comfortable ferry to an amazing place. The ferry has a well stocked bar. Rottnest has everything you need for either a day trip or a linger stay.

Good choice

This was the first time I’d gone to Rottnest with Sealink. Boarding with my bike was easy. The crew were friendly and efficient. Trip across and back was comfortable even with a reasonable swell on the return journey. And I enjoyed a beautiful day at Rottnest.
