Edinburgh Terror Tour is well worth doing

Darren, the tour guide, presented the tour in a very lively and interactive way. He teased some tour members which added to the fun. The torture museum and the room with the Wiccan stones particularly stand out in my memory. Whether the vaults are haunted or not is a matter of imagination but they certainly stand as a reminder to a dark - and sad - period of Edinburgh's history.

An absolute necessity for any person who likes history and/or paranormal experience

Darren took our tour and was incredibly informative and was a great laugh and kept things light while telling us the history of the vaults. It was a great tour and would 1000000% recommend to anyone and hopefully they get Darren because he was so down to earth

Best tour in town

Me and my partner went on the terror tour at 9pm. The guide, Dom, was entertaining, charismatic and informative. If you wanna see the vaults and get a bit scared Id definitely recommend. Cracking way too spend the evening 10/10

Terror tour-tastic

We took the Terror tour in April as part of a weekend away for my husband's birthday. Jordan led the tour and was very knowledgeable. He set exactly the right tone and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience

Underground vault terror tour experience

Chris did an amazing job sharing fun and spooky facts about Edinburgh and the underground vaults! Definitely spooked me and my friends out after hearing the first stories😂 Great job Chris!

Really enjoyable tour. Our guide James was brilliant and very charismatic. Some great stories and a really great way to spend a night in Edinburgh.

Vault Waking Tour

We had a different experience in Edinburgh going through the Vaults hearing all the mysteries stories. Jordan made it fun and scary at the same time. If you have the chance take this tour. You will enjoy it!

A good mix of history and terror!

Jordan, our tour guide, was an excellent raconteur with lots of cringeworthy facts about old Edinburgh and the vaults. We did the last evening tour that added to the spooky atmosphere in the vaults.

Terror tours with Darren

Darren was impeccable his attention to detail with historic facts and jump scares made the whole tour terrific!! He was funny and knowledgeable and a great tour guide!

Fun and different

Our tour started rather wet with a huge hailstorm but was still worth it. Really interest learning about the vaults and the history of the place. Our tour guide Ally was great, very clear and knowledgeable and she dealt very well with the fairly big group with the added tipsy women! Well worth the money and something a bit different . We really enjoyed it 😀

A spooky, gruesome and amazing tour!!

This tour is an absolute MUST if you are into the spooky but very real side of old Edinburgh. We did the late-night underground vaults terror tour, that starts at 10PM and finishes at 11:15PM, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Our tour guide Stewart was amazing and kept everyone completely immersed throughout. He was so detailed with every explanation and it truly felt like we were being taken back in time to a very dark and gruesome period in Edinburgh’s history. It wasn’t just a story telling experience, it was a genuine walk through of day to day life in the vaults. Before going into the vaults, you are taken into a dark room full of old age torture methods and tools on the walls. We were able to walk around the room looking at the tools and reading the descriptions beneath each one. Even though you could find humour in some, they definitely weren’t humorous back then. The iron mask (scold’s bridle) being one. Stewart threw some humour into the tour, when appropriate, and a jump scare towards the end which scared us all half to death!! I could not recommend this tour enough, if you like scary adventures but are also a nerd for history then this is 100% for you!!

This was such a good tour! James led an unforgettable Terror Vaults experience. His captivating storytelling and theatrical flair immersed us in Edinburgh's dark history. A perfect blend of history with spine-chilling tales of the paranormal. A thrilling, spine-tingling adventure that left us both fascinated and at times a little frightened (in a good way!)! Highly recommend for those seeking a memorable and eerie Edinburgh excursion.

Great fun, great guide, really knows his job. Explained every detail of information on each stop we made, and did a good job "scaring" everyone down in the vaults.

Brilliant

Was fantastic and tour guid ally was lovely and had a lot of knowledge however there were some very ignorant people on the tour that we had to tell to shut up quite a few times I have added a picture of my friend I took in the vaults whilst standing still and her face is distorted and looks like a man I also posted a picture I took of the witches circle and it looks as tho the inside is moving

Awesome, fun, spooky, warning: Jump scares. ;)

The tour was SO fun. James took care of us and it was lovely to be shown around the underground by someone so knowledgeable and interested in spooky things. Standing in the dark with our tour group and hearing about the banshee was one of my favorite parts.

A definite evening highlight to our visit to Edinburgh!

Laid some ghost to rest!!

We attended the 10pm tour lead by Darren, a fantastic tour guide with great knowledge mixed with fantastic humour, fantastic experience all round… highly recommend and will definitely be attending again when where next in Edinbrough.

A must do for fans of dark history!

Really excellent. The weather was awful, but our guide, Jordan, was good about keeping us under cover and getting us into the vaults asap. The whole tour was fun and informative, whilst also being spooky! Lots of dark history and ghost information about the royal mile and the vaults, and was entirely entertaining.

Great terror tour

A great tour with a great guide ( Fraser ), who had great knowledge of the vaults and made it fun at the same time, it was over to soon, didn't realise we had been out for over an hour, comes highly recommended

Underground terror tour

Sid was a great guide, he was really informative, friendly and funny. He made the tour entertaining while still sharing historic stories and information about the conditions of the vaults. You spend most of the time in the vaults which is what we wanted after not doing in a previous tour we did! Would recommend! And thank you to Sid for being a great tour guide!

We had a great evening, Darren was such a good tour, he was a bit of craic but also told the story and history so well, he didn't frighten the living life out of us either but my heart rate was definitely racing after it all!! Highly recommend going on the late night tour!! 10 out of 10 from me 😁

We had a great time with Major Weir. Told us a lot about the old ways of the Scottish. Personal highlight of the tour, Greyfriars Kirkyard. Unfortunately no sightings or other experiences this night.

Amazing experience

Myself and my partner did this tour a couple of years ago, we loved it! So this time we came with family and thought we'd book it again and they also loved it! Darren was our guide, so much knowledge of Edinburgh, captivates his audience and you come away knowing a little bit more about the city. The whole experience is first class, can't fault it. Fun, eerie, educational, an absolute must if you're visiting Edinburgh

Fascinating Tour

Our experience on this tour was excellent. The main reason for this was James our tour guide. He was extremely competent in dealing with such a large crowd, always maintain an upbeat demeanour. His knowledge of his home town was Exemplary, he was a credit to his company.

Darren was an engaging guide with a good mix of dark facts and humor. The vaults were suitably creepy, and the stories told were fascinating. Highly recommend but wear sensible shoes.

Fabulous!!!

I done this tour with a good friend, both of us believe there is more. We both LOVED the tour. Darren our guide was brilliant, so much history was learnt from the tour and we had a great time too. Decided to do the 10pm Terror Tour to The Vaults with a friend. So glad we did. Ally, our guide, was very informative and fun. The tour is an eye opener to just a small part of Edinburghs troubled and terrifying history. Thank you Ally for making this tour a memorable part of our trip.

Haunted Vaults Tour

Amazing tour! Very affordable and such a fun thing to do in Edinburgh. I recommend going at night it makes it a lot more fun. You get to go inside the vaults under the south bridge, a bridge you barely can see since building have sprung up all around it. Darren was an excellent tour guide 10/10. He gave us quite a few jump scares and was very witty with his remarks.
