A great tour! The guide, Jordan did a really good job at making it both interesting and engaging. He addressed dark and difficult topics with good humour and consideration. Really worth booking!

Historical not haunted

Average to disappointed. This is not a haunted tour. Our guide didn’t believe in that nonsense. Why call it a haunted tour if you won’t discuss it? This should have been called a historical tour. Also, when you have over 35 people in a tour, it becomes too much. I missed at least half of what he said.

Spooky Walk

This was a fun and scary tour! The guide, Jason I think, was full of energy and information. I would definitely recommend the tour.

A fun tour

Fun and interesting tour into the darker side of Edinburgh’s history. Our tour guide Ally was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Informative and funny with a few jumps on the way.

Dark and Creepy, full of History

Jordan led an amazing tour through the Greyfriars and vaults. heard some great stories with threads of the supernatural and history - the Covenanters, Bloody Mackenzie and even more modern related stories. The vaults were totally creepy and even though I did not step in the stone circle, the curse followed me the next day and messed up my travel! now thats a full experience. its a great tour and will truly take you to the dark side of Edinburgh!

Best Tourguide of 2024

Ally was absolutely amazing, great humor even with her lack of love for dogs 🤣🥰 We had a great time, my boyfriend who’s usually not a huge fan of ‘history’ was highly entertained throughout the whole experience! Even with the rainy weather it still felt like a sunny day thanks to Ally ❤️ (Not at all saying this to prevent any paranormal activity from happening to us after the tour even though it was said that writing a review would prevent all activity from occuring) Jokes aside we loved the tour and we loved Ally

Unique night of history, hauntings and horror

Our guide James was an absolute delight. Enthusiastic, entertaining and filled with great stories and history of Scotland. My favorite part was when James singled out my boyfriend as a “witch” much to my delight. The tour was absolutely enjoyable and I didn’t want it to end

Tour guide Darren was excellent very informative and made the tour fun. Really enjoyed the evening and would definitely recommend going

Entertaining and informative

Really enjoyed this tour of the graveyard and vaults and learning more about Edinburgh history. The vaults aren't something you can see on your own - and even if you could they wouldn't be near as interesting without the guide. Darrin was excellent and struck the right tone of entertaining/informative; highly recommended.

Grave yard tour

A great hour and a half , the tour of the grave yard was very interesting. The under ground vaults were also fantastic. A lot of history.

Great tour and great guide!

This was a great tour. Our guide, Jordan, was very informative and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn a bit about Scottish history with a humorous twist. 10/10!

A great way to see more off the royal mile

James was a funny and engaging guide and we felt safe and well organized. My only complaint was that I wanted to hear more details about everything- I guess I wanted more history. The vaults were cool but I guess I missed why they were there in the first place? the cemetery was much more interesting, could have listened about Burke and hare all night.

Highly Recommend

Really good mix of history and scare factor! Jordan was a lovely guide and gave us plenty of opportunities to get a good look at some of the paranormal spots. Definitely sent more than a few shivers down my spine!

Haunted Vaults and Graveyard.

We went on the graveyard and haunted vault tour with James as the guide. He was great, very entertaining. He had a lot of great stories and he made the tour fun.

Wild, witty, never boring

Our tour guide, Darren, gave a wild and witty history of Edinburgh. We loved it! The tour was just the right length of time with the walking and stops and description of the history and shenanigans. It was never boring. We would certainly recommend this tour and the guide, Darren - and look forward to returning for another tour!

We had a great time and would recommend this to anyone looking for a vaults tour. Our guide James was incredibly engaging and enthusiastic, his storytelling brought Edinburgh's past to life!

Great tour and tour guide Fraser was an excellent storyteller. Just scary enough without actual scares and a nice mix of actual history and folklore. Highly recommend!

The perfect mix

There are so many options available for ghost walks and tours in Edinburgh but we feel we made the right choice. We wanted something with a mix of the supernatural and history of the city which we definitely got here. Fraser was an excellent guide, very easy to hear, personable, knowledgeable and funny, getting the balance just right for us. If you want purely history or purely ghost stories, maybe look elsewhere but if you want an entertaining mix of the two, go for this.

Fun, interesting, just a little spooky.

James was an amazing tour guide. Such great energy and storytelling. We especially loved the stories of Greyfriars Bobby.

If you could mash up enthusiasm, passion and knowledge and mould it into human form, you would get James! Well done mate!

It's just okay for "haunted" tour.

While our guide James was very enthusiastic, the tour itself was a bit bland and kitschy, especially the Underground portion. James mentioned that the different tour companies have dibs on certain areas of the underground. That makes the tour more curated to the experiences of that particular tour company and not necessarily to more historically accurate information.

Unwelcoming towards the disabled

I booked this tour for my family of five: three kids and two adults. I was warned on arrival that some of the historical tales could be scary, which I appreciated. What I didn't appreciate was how many cross looks and muttered comments I received from the guide when my eldest son (who has autism) would talk or make an excited exclamation. There was nothing in the description about it being inappropriate for an ambulatory 9 year old with autism. We were made to feel so uncomfortable that we left the tour after entering the underground's first room.

Do it!

James was tremendous. So lively and knowledgeable which genuinely enhanced the experience. Well worth the money. I had my EMF reader subtlety going out of sight and let me tell you, the lights were dancing across to red consistently. Educational but not for young kids to be sure.

James was a great tour guide! Hilarious and entertaining as well as a great storyteller! This tour is definitely a must do!

Good tour, learned a lot

Not sure why the tour couldn’t just meet at the Greyfriar Bobby’s statue. The initial walk wasn’t relevant to the tour. But the tour was grand and we enjoyed learning some of the history of the graveyard.

History with a little dark humor

We had a very nice tour with Diva. She told interesting stories about the graveyard and the vaults all with humor as well as with respect for the history. We really liked it!

Our tour guide was very enthusiastic, entertaining and tried to be sure everyone had an enjoyable time. He made sure everyone stayed together and were safe as well.

Horrible tour! One soft spoken guide and 34 tourists. 34 people trying to keep up with the guide! No history just ghost stories.

Stories from Churchyard and Vaults

I liked this tour because it was partly in the vaults and partly in the grayfriars churchyard. There were interesting stories in both, but I wouldn’t want to spend an entire hour in the vaults. On this tour, the time in each was just right. You get a sense of some important people and events in the city’s history, and the norms and values of various times. Stewart was a knowledgeable guide who spoke clearly and projected well. I gave four stars instead of five because 30 people on a tour is really too many. The guide needs to carry a flag so it is easier to spot him/her in the crowd. It wasn’t easy to keep an eye on him in crowded downtown with so many people not knowing who was in the group and who wasn’t. And then 30 people had to crowd around the guide to be able to hear.

It was a dark and stormy night . . .

Our guide, Jordan (aka Jonathan 😁) was great fun. He told good stories and spoke with passion. The vaults were nothing to get excited about, but it was a unique experience.

Unique, interesting perspective on Edinburgh

Super unique experience with Jordan, who was very passionate and energetic with his spooky, dark stories involving Edinburgh’s past. Would highly recommend this tour with Jordan for something different and interesting!

Spooky tour

Ally, our guide, was great! Interesting tour of Edinburgh's spooky history. The vaults were not what I was expecting and I really enjoyed them!

Average - not very engaging

The guide was not so good. Her accent was a bit muddy and she didn't seem very enthusiastic about the whole thing. Just a job kinda thing

A good mix of creepy and interesting!

Kieran was a great tour guide and got the right balance of keeping everyone engaged whilst not making it too cheesy or gimmicky. Would definitely recommend and will do another tour when we're back in Edinburgh!

Last minute tour!

Diva was a blast! Her subtle humor was so refreshing. It poured the entire walk but we had a wonderful time. I did wish that we spent just a bit more time in the graveyard but overall completely worth it.

Creepy fun!

Totally worth it! Ally was a fabulous guide - the perfect mix of facts and humor. She didn’t use gimmicks or get over-dramatic, instead letting the creepy tales and surroundings work their own magic. I appreciated that the tour happened despite the bad weather and relatively small group. All in all, a great way to see the darker sides of Edinburgh!

Great fun and insightful well done Kieran

Had an amazing tour guide named Kieran really insightful, great banter, and apart from the rain chucking it down, his storytelling and enthusiasm made up for it. Really great to see the dark and spooky side of Edinburgh. great thing to do whether you’re a tourist or an intrigued local like me. I would definitely bring family next time.

Jordan rules! Jonathan, not so much. Still a 10/10 experience!

Such an interesting and spooky tour, and Jordan was the perfect balance of informative, spooky, and funny which made the tour really special! Jonathan, however, tried to scare me in the vaults and told me I might be cursed and then something haunted happened in my hotel room later so that guy kinda sucks. I only went with a few friends from my trip, but I’d do the whole tour again with Jordan and the rest of our group if we could! There’s no tour guy like him (especially Jonathan, again he sucks😒). Give Jordan a raise!

James is the best

James, our tour guide, made the entire experience with his knowledge, energy, and wonderfully contagious joy. I could not ask for, nor imagine, a better tour guide. He is a rare breed and the tour was an absolute delight. Do not forget to bring cash - he is WELL worth the tip.

Fun spooky tour

Interesting and somewhat spooky tour. Would recommend for an interesting experience in Edinburgh. Good mixture of history and some eerie fun!
