I was not sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! We chose this option because we didn't want to be tied down by a scheduled tour. We downloaded the tour beforehand and were able to click play whenever we wanted. The app itself is super cool and I will certainly be looking for tours like this in other destinations. It was also super informative and wasn't overboard on Harry Potter. There was a greater focus on the history of the city and how it informed or influenced the books. We learned so much about the hidden and often dark histories of some of Edinburgh's most iconic landmarks.

Seeing the books on Harry Potter come alive

Since we knew we would becoming in later afternoon to Edinburgh, this tour was great for us to do on our own at our own time. The audio tour gave very good instructions and we enjoyed learning more about places in Edinburgh that influenced JK Rowling's books about Harry Potter. Victoria Street is awesome!

It was an overall...

It was an overall excellent tour, the cemetery was the best part aswell as Diagonal Alley with attached shops.

Poor directions and map

It was tricky to use as no road names in the map. We got lost a lot and gave up Not useful to help navigate

Lovely little HP tour at my OWN PACE

What a fabulous and flexible way to do a walking tour! I love love loved that I could go at my own pace and that it was a specialized tour, for a tailored topic!! HARRY POTTER FANS UNITE!! not to mention.....it was SO MUCH CHEAPER than a walking tour :)

We absolutely loved this self-guided tour! The insider information, little tid-bits, and narration are fantastic! Great for adults and children; I highly recommend!

Very interesting until I got lost

It was very interesting until I got lost 15 min into the tour. It didn't matter how many times I rewound, read the map and listened to the recording, I could not make sense of where to go after visiting the writer's museum and emerging from the alley. Being completely new to Edinburgh may not have helped.

Crowds Not finding the spots The speaker was in the wrong language and I couldn’t get it switched to the right language I did find text to read but that made it difficult when walking and very slow I only got through half of the sights in two hours . I wasn’t able to finish the tour

I was a bit worried about this tour as I am not that tech savvy, but we found it really easy to use and because of having 48hrs there's no rush.

Love the autonomy

This tour gave liberty to explore the city at our own pace, to learn really interesting facts and it lead us to see more than we thought!

Self-guided audio tour-Learn some background regarding JK Rowling's possible inspiration re: Harry Potter

My son (age 23) and I did not want to do group tours. We had done the audio tour of Edinburgh Castle and then found this audio tour. You begin right at the castle. Fun information regarding what may have inspired JK Rowling (names in graveyard and shops). Easy walk and you are able to stop the audio and explore shops, have ice cream or lunch and then continue. I highly recommend.

Fun Self-Paced Harry Potter Tour

This was perfect for our family! We love Harry Potter and found it easier to explore at our own pace vs a guided tour.

Not Worth the Hassle

We did everything we were supposed to do, but only 1 of the guides purchased actually downloaded, we waited over 3 hours in hopes that the other would download with no luck so we had to share. While walking around it was very finicky with the location, and wouldn’t allow you to play any audio unless you were right on the spot. Overall, the technical issues far outweighed the actual content of the tour and I’d never purchase another audio tour through this company.

Great on-your-own tour

Good overview of Harry Potter sites. Good stories and it felt very up-to-date. The mechanics of the tour worked very well - it knows where you are and gives the relevant information.

See the sites at your own pace

The app worked well and I only got lost a few times. App helpful to get me righted again. If going in summer 2022 be aware of the construction at theBank of Scotland -you need to go through the wooden temporary pathway. Good to be able to stop and start at my own pace. Fun stories if Harry Potter back story. I would do another audio tour with this app. Recommend downloading the app (use Wi-Fi) and instructions to your start place ahead of time.

Highly recommend this tour.

I enjoyed the tour. It was a wealth of information. I learned so much. One thing I did. It understand is why walk to the top of Candlemaker Row to go through the main entrance of the cemetery. Then walk down to the other gate (that we just passed), just to stand and look around. Then walk back up the hill to start the tour. Too much up and down for an overweight person. Also, Elephant house is closed due to fire. But will reopen and they saved the actual table JK wrote out. Stay tuned.

To the point & informative HP Edinburgh tour

Great tour - very easy to follow & very informative. May need an update as a hand full of the locations are now closed/different as described in the tour. Also the blind praise of JK Rowling without mentioning any of her current controversies felt a little off? A little uncomfortable to hear as a Queer person.

Worth the money :)

I really enjoyed the mix between history of the city and how it related to Harry Potter. The app is easy to use, and even though the guide has got a Scottish accent, it’s very understandable for most English levels.

Excellent audio tour

Excellent audio tour, interesting mix of history and Harry Potter trivia around Edinburgh. Graveyard section very cool, wouldn't have found spots without the audio tour guide.

Was okay, wouldn’t pay for it again.

Tour wasn’t that good. You’ll see all of the spots just walking around Edinburgh. The app that gave the tour was okay, still would have preferred someone in real life to give it. It was dull and most of the attractions were not confirmed to have any Potter connections.

Fun tour

It was a great experience. We felt like we were playing some kind of hunt on the streets of Edinburgh. It was so fun to be in the graveyard on All Hallows Day (Halloween) :). We will try for sure another similar experience.

Amazing! A definite must do for any Harry Potter fan. It also includes some extra bits history/legends from Edinburgh as well!

Worth the money!

I really enjoyed this tour. It was simple to download and good value for money. It has a lot of detailed information which we were unaware of and helped to follow the trail and stop/start at each section.

Nice and easy

Wonderfully relaxed and well done. Not too much and not too little. English spoken in an understandable way, which is not always the case.

Hat Spaß gemacht

Wir hatten Spaß. Die Technik hat gut funktioniert. Wir fanden es besser in unserem eigenen Tempo zu laufen ind zu schauen, und nicht in einer großen Gruppe. Außerdem haben wir zwei Tage später noch einiges angeschaut, was wegen der Dunkelheit nicht möglich war.

Entertaining and easy to understand

Great tour. Just download it and off you go. It's virtually impossible to get lost and the mix of Joanna K. Rowling, Harry Potter and history is entertaining and entertaining.

Mit unseren deutschen Mobiltelefonen (Datenrooming!) konnten wir die Tour nicht machen.Ich hätte mir die Tour zum Nachlesen und Nachlaufen ohne Handy gewünscht.

Overraskende god oplevelse

Virkelig god, rar og interessant oplevelse. Det fungerer utroligt godt at gå selv rundt med en guide i ørerne.
