After a great day across and around the city, my pregnant wife and dog had the great pleasure of riding with Jim on Saturday evening of May 25th as he was the most delightful and hospitable host we could have had. From not only taking the time to engage with a curious young boy on the route, but he also made sure my 8-month pregnant wife had the safest and easiest ride. Thank you, Jim, as that was only day one of our two-day pass. We hope to see you again tomorrow!

Edinburgh City tour

Our ticket was for two separate tours - one of which went to the Britannia at Leith. We had a good time but some of the headphone sockets were broken so we had to change seats.

Edinburgh Tour. A bit confusing

The tour was good but getting to the start point and understanding how to get on and off was unclear. A map was provided but the stops were not clearly marked.

Seeing the Sights

We did the city and Brittania tours over two days. This was a good way to get an overview of the city with earphones for the informative narration, and get off/on places you want to visit. The Brittania tour is only once an hour so timing matters. There’s very irritating music playing whenever the narration stops. They should either have silence or consider changing it to classical music.

We did the two tours- good variety and lots to see as you sit and watch the world go by. Well organised, on time, friendly drivers and street staff.

What a brilliant way of seeing the sights of Edinburgh on the sight seeing buses .Hop of and on as you wish getting plenty of information from the guides .Really good value for money.Staff are very polite and helpful

Amazing Tours & Service

We had our honeymoon in Edinburgh and used the hop-on-hop-bus the whole time. On the first day of visiting the lovely lady explained about the week pass as we was there for 4 days. It was great and saved us so much money. All the staff where so friendly. Will be back to Edinburgh and with use the service again. X

Great day out for locals or tourists

Day out with family it was great fun, kids loved it we done both tours and then went back on the city tour and used this to stop at places we wanted to visit the next day tickets were used to get us to dynamic earth and then up to the museum. Was well worth it the driver we got the first day was fab im sure it was Jim we actually got him on both tours which was funny. We will be using this again even though we are from the area we seen things we hadn’t before and it was an adventure for the kids who never get to go on a bus !!

Go and find other bus tour

The bus tour was well routed however found the commentary disengaging. We fell asleep with the audio on.

Very convenient way to see a lot of different places while in Edinburgh the commentary provided had lots of facts about Edinburgh.

Make sure bus will come back to get you!

Left us stranded. Took tour to Britannia and when we came out found out no bus would be coming. No warning. Afraid to take it again the next day. Will say we got a full refund, buy would have preferred to not be left to figure out return trip in an unfamiliar country on our own.

It’s lovely tour.. we really enjoyed 48hr hop on hop off tour in Edinburgh to see various sights of this historic city! Buses were mostly empty, safe and were running on time.

Best bus tour in Edinburgh

This is definitely the best bus tour in Edinburgh! Two routes which get you most places you want to go in Edinburgh. Staff were really friendly and helpful.. really good value for money!

We had a short stay in Edinburgh & the hop on hop off bus is the ideal way to see the sights & attractions of the city. The staff very friendly & helpful !!

Great way to see the many historic sights of Edinburgh in a few hours at an economical price. Two routes, with one going directly to the cruise ship tenders dock at Newhaven. Both routes go to the Edinburgh Castle. We had no long waits for buses

Edinburgh Hop On/Off Buses

We booked a two day Hop on, Hop off tour package. On day one we had a 12:30 access to Edinburg Castle… we did the audio tour and were done in about one hour. We then caught the bus to Holyrood Palace, the other end of the Royal Mile. This is still an active royal palace. The audio tour was excellent. We saw Queen Mary’s bedchamber where her Italian tudor and confidant was murdered before her eyes by ruffians hired by her husband. He was later murdered as well. We were flagging by 2:30 so we stopped for a break and a late lunch at the very old TollHouse Pub. The steak pie/fish n’ chips were very tasty as were the drinks. On day two our first stop was the Botanical Gardens… we had a peaceful stroll through this beautiful park. We then travelled to the docks on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth where the retired HMS Brittania is docked. The self guided tour was excellent and we saw most of this very important historical ship, crew areas as well as the Queen’s living spaces and the reception areas for VIPs. We later toured the National Museum… free and an excellent display of Scottish artifacts. These buses gave us access to most of the city and wait times were typically under 15 minutes. They were an excellent means to sightsee at our own pace.

The commentary was very...

The commentary was very good. I would have liked a map on the booking site as I didn't need the Brittania part as we only wanted the city centre and we had to change bus when we realised. The driver did not stop at Johnson Terrace even though I asked him to and it was No 6 stop. We had to walk back to our coach which was hard on the cobbles.

We enjoyed both tours as they provided information and history about the city. Gave a broader appreciation of location of section of the city

Useless for cruise ship passengers

This bus tour should not be offered to cruise passengers. The bus goes only once an hour to New Haven so if you miss it you miss your ship tender. Also it says you can walk to Britannia to catch it which is at least half a mile from where you get off the tender. We waited 1/2 an hour or more at the bus stop and ended up purchasing tickets at the bus stop for a different on off bus that went every ten or so minutes.

What a find and such great value!

What a find! Although we knew most of Edinburgh would be walkable for us we didn't want to miss anything and also wanted to pop out to beautiful Leith so the joint tour & bus access to get our bearings, plus hop on & off for us was perfect. The on bus route information was engaging and informative and the drivers were always happy to assist with any additional questions. The 48hours to use the tour meant we didn't have to cram everything into one day and with purchasing mid day effectively gave us a '3day' span of time. Value for money was spot on as the joint tour was better value than anything else we could find for even a 24hr pass as we just wanted travel and not some of the extra add ons that others slide into the price for activities and site tours. If you're wanting to get about town, but stay independent on arrival and happy to find your own meals, drinks and activity this is without doubt the bus tour I'd recommend. Only tiny slip up by us was we wanted to start with the Britannia Tour which runs hourly, and one had just left, if we'd been a tad more savvy we'd have bought the ticket an hour later but it was no great loss and we went and bought a coffee to sit in the sunshine and wait for the next one :)

A must see!

The Queen’s Yacht, it was like they had just stepped off the boat. It was so beautiful. It was almost like you could hear their voices.

Nice way to see the city

A round around takes about an hour and a half. Take the ticket for the three buses, red, green and majestic (purple). Gets you everywhere. Friendly service and drivers. Absolutely worth the money.

Great afternoon spent on Bright Bus tours in Edinburgh

My wife and I were fortunate to travel on both the City and Britannia tours in Edinburgh today, Monday, 4th September 2023. Mike C was driving the City Tour bus and Jim drove the Britannia tour. Both of these guys were exceptionally friendly and helpful during the tours. Meeting and talking to these two lovely gentlemen was a highlight of the excellent day we had in Edinburgh. And the commentary we heard during the tours was also great. Very informative and amusing in all the right places

Not enough information provided!!

It was very confusing figuring out where to redeem the voucher for the HOHO bus. It was not clear that the voucher could be redeemed at any of the stops. Also, the frequency of the bus stops was not evident. We did not know that we would have to wait one hour for the next bus!!! We ended up taking the tram in Edinburgh.

Recommend for the first-time visitor to Edinburgh.

Bus routes take you past many locations and provide an excellent orientation to the city. The narration is informative with just the right amount of detail.

Excellent city and Britannia tours

The audio commentary was interesting and the stories gave life to the sights. It was easy to hear and very clear.

Communication

We purchased the 2 bus trip and were confused from the start. This is meant to be for tourists so it said it started at Waverley station but not exactly where it was and it was hard to find the bus. Finally we found staff in the bright orange They may have been helpful if we knew where we were going and if we did we wouldn’t have needed to ask. I would like to suggest that when a tourist asks for help and directions it would be good if you pulled out the map and showed them instead of just rattling off names of places we have never heard of. Anyway after much frustration we got on the bus. The driver was friendly and the tour tape was information. It would be good if on the map, where it has the stops, it might be nice to put a few hints on what there is too see, not everyone as access to the internet when traveling overseas.

Great journey to see the city

Great value for money, £19 for the two tours, tickets can be used over a 48hr period. Staff very helpful. Such a great way to see Edinburgh as it goes to all the main sights. If you sit upstairs as it’s an open top bus have your rain gear handy and something to wipe the seats if it has been raining.

Enjoyed going all around the city and hearing the stories. We never made it to the Britannia but enjoyed everything else.

Good option

We opted for the two route package and used it over two days. The easiest/best way to see the city in a short time. Well worth it and recommend both routes.

Ok bus ride letdown by poor communication and service.

Got on bus at St Andrwws Square that said City tour. The bus destination was changed without any communication and became Britannica tour. Ruined city dinner plans. Very disappointed with communication and service.

Double the enjoyment

My friends and I opted to take the Britannia city tour and the additional one to the retired Britannia which is a distant part of the city, on the Firth of Forth, and docked near a large mall. The tours were interesting and well worth the price to see so much of the city and history. The audio tour was fine, but I would change the music that comes in between the commentary. The music should be Celtic, not typical elevator music.

The most welcoming and helpful drivers ever!

The friendliest drivers ever. We used them for 2days+ and they went above and beyond to help, make us feel welcomed and enjoy our stay in Edinburgh. The drivers were not only great ambassadors to their company, but also great ambassadors to this lovely city, which with one exception, felt so welcoming and friendly to us. Thank you for driving us around, thanking for going above and beyond to take us home, on a rainy day! That really stood out. The gentlemen driving the last Bretania on the 12th of July, is truly an asset to this company and city. We can not recommend this tour highly enough, based on the attitude of their drivers and fairness in price and offering (GBP 15 for 48 hours.... )

This is a reasonable and good way to get an overview of the city. Sometimes a plug in for the headphones was wonky. Drivers pleasant.

Great Staff, Excellent tours and value for money

Both tours were brilliant, All the staff we came into contact with on the tours and ticket staff went above and beyond. A very special shout out and Thank you to both Mari and Morph (Jim) My husband and I both have disabilities but they shared advice, information and support with us and went above and beyond to ensure we got the best out of the trips, They made sure the drivers were aware of us and were happy to offer help when required. Mari answered numerous questions from me in the respect of getting the mobility scooter on ad off. My husband has breathing difficulties and was struggling to get up to the bus so Morph told us to stay where we were and he asked the driver to come to us. I highly recommend this company and I hope they appreciate their staff and give them the praise they deserve. We will be back to visit this amazing city again

Excellent tour

The bus tours (both city and britannia) were excellent. Given that our time in Edinborough was limited since it was just a cruise ship port of call, this was an excellent way to get an overview of the city. The audio worked fine, and was perfectly synced to where we were.

Worth a try and every bid as goos as the incumbant.

A good alternative to the established company. Value for money and access to some parts I haven't seen before. Good quality sound system and informative script. Staff were helpful and knowledgable.

Good value, great introduction to Edinburgh

Good overview of central Edinburgh. Very friendly and kind staff and drivers. Lots of buses coming regularly. The 48 hour option including the Britannia stop was a very good value.
