Excellent overview of the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

This is an excellent way to get an overview of Edinburgh. An in-person guide on a microphone gives you the history of the city and points out major attractions. It was a cold day, rainy off and on so we feel that we would not have had seen anywhere close to as much of the city as we did without this experience. With getting off and on we had 4 different tour guides and some were better than others as is always the case.

Good tour

Pretty typical HO/HO bus tour, got to see the highlights of the city. They give you new (sealed in package) earbuds to listen to the tour, which was nice (every seat has a audio jack. We organized and staff was friendly.

How to see Edinburgh!

Great way to see all of Edinburgh in a day! Plenty of time to hop on and hop off at all the major attractions. Very easy to navigate.

No flexibility

I’m very upset because I’ve been booking with Viator on all my trips. This is not the first time it happened. I didn’t make it to the bus so I didn’t use my tickets and I asked about if I could just change it for another day and they said no. So no refund no change of dates no nothing. In another trip happened in Italy I came in 2 minutes late and there was another tour in the next half hour and again did not let me change or refund. Had to pay again for the tour.

Decent Ride

Good way to get around the city but I wish the audio tape had more detail and information. There was a lot of dead air space that could have been used to talk about the city and its history.

1st day in Edinburgh

We were quite jet-lagged, so being able to sit down & get a comprehensive overview of Edinburgh was great! Buses are easy to find. The recorded narration was informative, interesting and not cheesy.

Not hop on hop off as advertised

Just OK. Drivers are friendly, helpful and patient. They spend a lot of time waiting (upwards of 20 minutes) at stops to recruit people from the street to join the tour. This isn’t fair to those of us who paid in advance for the “hop on hop off” convenience. We wasted a lot of time just sitting at stops when we could’ve walked to the next stop. I do not recommend.

A taste of Edinburg

Easy to get on. We took the green bus, which had live commentary. Very good. I had been to Edinburgh before but was traveling with family and this was a great way to get a taste of the city.

Edinburgh hop on hop off

The tour was ok. We felt the Glasgow tour was better. The headphones kept cutting out so we missed some of the history of Edinburgh. Other members on the tour did not have headphones and just talked all the way round. We got on right near the tram stop which was very useful because one of our party has issues with walking.

Solo travel

Travelling alone this made moving around the city easy. Drivers were friendly and commentary was very good

Enjoyable and Convenient

This was a convenient way to see a lot of the city in a short period of time. There were a few stops we wanted to get off on, but we weren't near enough to the 'stop' button and weren't able to get off. Edinburgh is a walkable city, but this was a nice tour.

Ok but not a must do.

If you are reasonably fit and healthy, you could walk the loop of the Red Tour route. It only covers about 3kms across town. The commentary is interesting but lacks an overall cohesive narrative. It’s an easy thing to do for an hour but probably a bit over priced for two adults. Perhaps a good value if you’re one paying adult with 3 children riding free!

Awesome!!

Purchased the Royal Edinburgh Ticket which gave us 48 hour access to three different routes that took us all over the city, plus paid admission to three main attractions including the Edinburgh Castle which often is sold out. Started our first trip on the green bus which had a live narration of the sights/history of Edinburgh. Best way to start our tour of the city. Plus on the blue/red lines they provided headphones for us to listen to. Our 8 year daughter really enjoyed it. She would often speak up and tell us what she heard. We believe we got our moneys worth! Really appreciated the accessible to the various parts of the city on this tour without us having to drive/fight for a parking spot. A MUST DO if you are visiting Edinburgh.

Great way to see the city. Great commentary. Buses run every 12 minutes. Definitely worth it to see Edinburgh . Hop on and off at your leisure

Very fun to explore the city with narration. Was a beautiful day and we upgraded to go on a 3 lines.

Perfect tour

If you have limited time in Edinburgh or would just like a quick overview. This is perfect. The buses run regularly and the pre recorded commentary is excellent.

Nice views of Edinburgh

A nice tour of the key parts of Edinburgh. We got off at a stop with a number of restaurants , ate at the Bee Hive, the hopped back on to our BNB.

Good experience once you find the stop

This is a typical city HoHo experience giving you the opportunity to see what is available in the city before you get off and explore. Our only real gripe was finding the nearest stop when we came out of Waverley station (we turned right toward the Scott memorial when the nearest stop would have been to the right. Beware there is another similar company (Brights) using red buses and it is very easy to confuse them. The stop for the castle is quite a walk from the entrance and when we got there all tickets for the day had been sold so don't rely on Natural Scotland (or English Heritage who have a reciprocal agreement) to get you in on the day.

Terrible experience

Tour Guide never showed! Never did tour. Asking for refund. Called facility and only got a notice that the call could not be put through.

Good way to see the city.

Hold tour. Saw a lot of Edinburgh. Driver stopped at a couple of stops or a looong time. Great way to see the city. The headphone are better than the live guide, they put too much of a spin on things and are hard to hear sometimes.

Not your best option for city tour options unless going to the outskirts!

Positive: Good trip around town and overview of what to see Bus frequency was pretty decent Opportunity: Spent to long trying to fill bus up - we watched people go up and come back down stairs for 4 minutes 25 second from when I started timing so actually longer and yet they continued to let people on without saying top was full. This felt like such a waste of time. We eventually left and only one additional person ended up getting on based on seats available. At one stop a family of 7 with kids joined and they didn't all have seats. Not the businesses fault the parents weren't watching them but they all should have had a seat and not running around. They kicked my water over and spilt a water onto the floor making my bag wet. We got off and didn't get back on so only used the total tour for half of it as that was such a poor experience and the next stop we tried to get on the line was massive. As a result we bought 4 adult tickets used for 11 stops - not even the full experience. I have done other hop on hop off and liked - this one would never recommend!

Just what we needed

Just what we needed after we came into Port without an excursion planned. Easy, helpfull and went everywhere we needed to go in one day. Highly recommend it.

Everything downtown Edinburgh

Good overview of the High Points in Edinburgh. Rainy day, so the bus was pretty crowded, some difficulty seeing the audio screen, after the rain overall fun

should do for every new city

I strongly encourage all travelers to buy this bus pass for the first two days in any new city. I have done this in London, New York, and now Edinburgh. It is convenient and gives geographical perspective of navigating around a new city. The bus pass in Edinburgh is no exception. Good information and carefully curated stops and points of interest. Highly recommend

Great way to see the city!

Great value for price! We used all three lines over a few days. Buses were very regular and stops easy to find. Drivers were all very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the green line with live guides! Highly recommended!

Comfortable seats, good...

Comfortable seats, good stops selection, good audio and audio narrative through provided ear buds. Upstairs in the open in a double decker was breezy and refreshing. Excellent driver in very busy city streets. Easy to get on and off.

Time consuming

I liked the history the bus gave but it was a bit behind due to traffic. It’s a good way to see the city without walking but it is very time consuming.

It was great to be able to ride the whole route and then pick and choose which locations to spend time at. The narration was also very helpful and entertaining.

Loved the Hop-On-Hop-Off tour of Edinburgh

Edinburgh is an absolutely amazing city!! So much to see and do. The Hop-On-Hop-Off bus tour was a great way to see and learn about the history of the city while allowing us to get off and visit the sights that most interested us. The busses also ran quite timely so you could always count on the next bus coming soon.

Better map needed

The trip covers the main parts of both Old Town and New Town and has a good audio guide. One problem is the map that is provided doesn’t show the streets making it difficult to find the exact locations of the bus stops.

Sightseeing all around town!

It was wonderful that we were able to see the highlights of Edinburgh within 24 hours. The buses come frequently and we got free earbud sin our own language, to listen to a bit of background of each stop. We could get off and on at any of the stops. The price was just right!!!

Great city.

The city hop on off busses are a great way to get around and decide where you want to visit--restaurants, shops, museums, etc. Ride around more than once. There's some steep hills in Edinburgh.

Good overview

Great way to see city sites in short time. The only thing to be aware is the 20 min lag time from 1st and last bus. You must change buses if you don't want the lag time

Tour Bus in Edinburgh

It is the first time that we have been to Edinburgh and we always like to get a tour bus around the area to be able to see where everything is. This tour allowed us to see how beautiful the city of Edinburgh is. Well worth the visit.

Great way to see all of Edinburgh!

We only had two days in Edinburgh, so decided to get tickets to this hop on hop off bus. This was a great purchase! We were able to see all that we wanted and there were plenty of buses coming at all times. I love the headphones and being able to tune in when you’d like and then just quietly view the sites if you weren’t interested in listening. Would definitely purchase this tour again – if you’re thinking of visiting Edinburgh, I highly recommend this tour bus company!

Best Way to See the City

As good as having a personal tour guide. Hit all the places of interest and gave the ability to visit longer at our leisure. I would recommend.

Really can't say anything because we didn't have time to do it. It said it was closed at 4pm but then, we were still seeing busses around. It was confusing.
