Emirati Authentic Cooking Classes at Al Khayma Heritage House

A great experience

A memorable time making the best chicken and rice I have had for a long time. Not to my merit, I must admit, but to detailed preparation and instructions by Chef Lamin who was kind, patient and with a big smile. Al Khayma Heritage House is also a very special place to visit.

Valuable experience!

It was very nice to attend the authentic Arabian breakfast lessons by chef LAMIN. I could experience the real cooking activity really enjoyed. One thing to add is would hv been better if I could get some resume so that I could get to know the name of the dish! It was a bit hard to memorize the name of the dish. Besides that I really enjoyed it

Excellent cooking class

Wonderful experience with Chef Lamin who taught how to cook beyond the actual recipe. You will cook plentiful so you will be able to enjoy it the day after as well :)

Best cooking class experience

My wife and I do cooking classes in every country that we visit. This was the best experience so far! The chef was very knowledgeable of the culture and local cuisine making this a very authentic experience!

The cooking class was a great way to learn about Emirati food and culture and to taste some signature dishes. Lamin was an excellent teacher. He was patient and explained everything very clearly and i look forward to trying some of the dishes at home.

Too notch cooking class, great atmosphere

I always take a cooking class, when I travel, but this was one of the best. Led by Chef Lamin, it was not just learning how to cook an Emirati food, but actually skills that would improve me as a cook altogether. And the food was fantastic...and should make clear you prepare more than a meal, it lasted me for 3 days. Great vibe in the restaurant,atmospheric and super friendly staff.

Great Experience!

I really enjoyed the Emirati authentic cooking class! Chef Lamin was extremely friendly and made the class so informative and fun. He even took the extra time to teach me how to chop and dice properly and made sure to take plenty of photos for me. I had so much fun and will definitely book another class if I ever come back to Dubai. Highly recommend!!

Very informative and enjoyable. All of us get same experience . Each and individual did the same and not felt left out . We enjoy the food . Everyone was so nice .

A must do cooking experience with the best chef

Chef Lamin provided us with a spectacular experience that made us feel like family as we prepared our individual meals. His patience and delightful attitude allowed us to take pride in our cooking abilities while he gracefully guided us through the special Emarati meal we were preparing. The three course meal was savory and decadent. I have not made a better meal in my life and it could not have been done without his expertise. I would give this a 6 star review if I could.

Cooking

No meeting area or introductions. Making the appetizer was unique but took way too long. Making the main course was informative but in a small tight room. Each person had their own workstation and equipment which was very good. Chef was very knowledgeable and helpful. All the main ingredients were prepared ahead of time. It was worthwhile learning to cook. After main course you went to the outside and eat your food. The desert was watching someone make, it would have been better if at least you could try. Other recommendation was no recipes were provided, would have been good to ge this info or offered to purchase a cooking book, so you can make at a later stage.

Well where do I start! 1 thing, we loved Chef Lamin! The whole vibe and history of the Al Khayma is truly beautiful and the cooking class we had was both insightful and fun. We had the breakfast class which included learning and cooking 4 different Emirati dishes, really getting the authentic experience of how the Emiratis did it in the olden days. Michelin staff and chef, we really got a good experience! They were attentive and Chef Lamin was a great teacher and we connected well with him.

Best cooking class ever!

We had the best rooftop cooking class in Old Dubai with Chef Basun! The food and atmosphere was beautiful and Chef Basun was professional, patient and educated us on food and culture in Dubai! Yassin and Ahmed was very helpful! One of the best way to learn about different cultures is through cooking and food. The girls and my honey bunny loved dinner class!

Awesome, incredible, memorial. One of the best activities to do in Dubai. The chef is very welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. We had a lot of fun there and would go again.

A little something to go on…

I really enjoyed the Emirati Authentic Cooking class at Al Khayma. Chef Datsun, was extremely patient and professional. I appreciated this the most. It was a nice event to do for the day. I learned that this dish is a little saucier than the Saudi Kansa that I love so much. The biggest thing that I took away from this class was Chef Dasun’s knowledge and emphasis on food safety. I would recommend for a person looking to gain cultural knowledge or just looking for an event to do while visiting the beautiful Emirates. 10/10

Amazing Experience

Had the pleasure of joining the cooking class held by Michelin Star Chef, Chef Lamin. From entering I was greeted and seated by helpful staff who made me feel welcome. Chef Lamin introduced himself and what we would go over during the class and got us acquainted. The class started with Ahmed Luquaimat who showed us how to cook ragag, he was engaging and very talented and it was an amazing insight, truly thank you to him. We then moved to the roof top where Chef Lamin showed us his true passion and skills. The class was easy to follow, full of advise, tips and laughter, Chef Lamin made us feel very comfortable and confident and you could see how clearly he cared about his guests and their experience. We made a beautiful salad and Machboos, I was genuinly surprised tasting the food and cannot believe I made it!! I cant wait to cook the meal taught for family and friends. Thank you so much Chef Lamin for giving me confidence. For being so kind and patient also. I can hands down recommend this class to anyone visiting Dubai or residents who want to really learn how to cook Emirati food from the best! thank you again.

best cooking class i ever attended around the world😁 thank you Chef Lamin&cook staff😁chef Lamin made this emirati cooking experience so fun & , i love that its hands-on supervised by chef Lamin & cook helpers, the menu recipes are so delicious, & super cool that the delicious foods i cooked were served to me like a VIP in this michelin star rated restaurant,Al-Khayma😁 i highly recommend this cooking class.

A fun, tasty and filling cooking class of traditional Emirati breakfast dishes

Great breakfast cooking class including Ragag (a very thin crispy flatbread with cream cheese) , Shakshuka (Poached eggs in a tomato sauce with onions and bell peppers) , Balaleet (a sweet vermicelli and omelette dish) and Luqaimat (deep fried dough balls with date syrup and sesame seeds) with lovely and entertaining chefs Ahmed, Dasun and Lamin! Great fun and located in a beautiful restaurant in historic Bastakiya. Interested in doing also the lunch and dinner classes!

The best experience in Dubai

The best experience in Dubai by far. Chef Modou Lamin is a superstar guiding you through a 3 course cooking experience at a gentle pace explaining every step then the best bit is eating what you have prepared in this Michelin rated restaurant. Just a small group of us which makes it great fun to find out about the other “chefs”.

Amazing cooking class experience!

Fantastic experience. Love that it was held mostly outdoors and we got to not only cook, but also make traditional bread and dessert. Chef was attentive and very friendly. Best of all, the food felt authentic and was delicious. I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting or local to Dubai to experience it.

A burst of flavors not to be missed

One of the highlights of my visit to Dubai was this cooking class. It was in a Michelin restaurant. We made bread, chicken, rice Multiple spices and a wonderful Chef to teach us. This is a must on your trip. To know this county you must taste their cuisine. Can’t wait to do another cooking experience again

My best Dubai experience and meal!!!!

This was an amazing experience. I'm not one for touring around however, when it comes to cooking and eating a nice meal, I'm in! I highly recommend this experience with Chef Sanjaya. I was the only one in the class and the one-on-one experience was perfect. We cooked what I would call an Emiratis Jambalaya or Biryani; however, it was not spicy, more on the sweeter side, Machboose. Delicious! I learned a few more spices to add to my repertoire, use fresh spices for the "masala" and how to get my Basmati Rice just right. Next trip to Dubai and I will be there for another class. Thank you Chef and all the wonderful staff at Al Khayma Heritage House.

The best hands-on experience!

I walked into this with no expectations, and what I learned from this Emeriti cuisine cooking class was definitely the highlight of my trip. The technique of making Regag bread - the appetizer, Chicken Machboos - the main course using many different and interesting savory spices, and Luqaimat- the traditional Emirati dessert. Master Chef Sanjay was very good with guiding instructions and generous with sharing cooking tips! He and his staff were genuinely wonderful! Beautiful smiles, energy, hospitality, ambience, and attentiveness. Congratulations! Recipient of the Prestigious Michelin Bin Gourmand Award 2022!

Great experience - highly recommended!

We were unsure what to expect not having attended cooking classes previously. From the get go we were made to feel comfortable and looked after by Chef Sanjara and his team (who made sure we were given water and delicious mint and lemon drinks). We cooked three courses including machbous, an emirati rice based dish. We really enjoyed the experience and felt relaxed throughout - it was apparent that Chef Sanjara was not clock watching and has a genuine love for food! It was interesting hearing about his time as a chef in the UAE. Given Chef Sanjara’s experience and his delivery of the class - the cooking class would be suitable for people at both ends of the spectrum - people with little or no experience or advanced chefs looking to hone their skills. We had a fantastic evening and would highly recommend this experience.

10/10 Must do experience in Dubai

This cooking class was at the top of my list of things to do in Dubai and it did not disappoint. I turned up at 5pm at the restaurant and I was introduced to Chef Sanjara. Chef has many years of experience in lots of different cuisines including Sri Lankan, Japanese, French and Indian. He is dedicated to his profession and has a wealth of experience running kitchens in several high end hotels in Sri Lanka, Dubai and the Royal Palace. I enjoyed my experience immensely, I was lucky to have my session 1-2-1. I was shown ingredients I’ve never seen or used before and I tried different cooking techniques. From start to finish the cooking/ dining experience was complimented by lots of hot & cold refreshments in a cool traditional local restaurant. The cooking classes are held in a purpose built area at the back of the restaurant and all the spices are set up for you, chef talks you through each ingredient and explains each dish and it’s origins, Machboos (main course with chicken) Regag bread and Luqaimat (dessert). If you have never tried anything like this before either as an individual or in a group, you should as it would be a highlight for anyone visiting Dubai and you get to eat your dishes or take them home. Thank you Chef and his team. 10/10.

The Best Cultural & Culinary experience in Dubai

This is the best cultural & culinary experience in Dubai. I felt welcome right from the start & had an amazing time with Chef Sanjaya & his team, learning to cook three local dishes including chicken majboos, which was then served to me in the main restaurant. The courtyard kitchen is well set up & despite the temperature outside, I was able to keep cool with a delicious lime & mint drink & cool water, all part of the experience. Whether you have limited time in Dubai or plenty of time to spare this activity is an ideal way to learn about the culture & enjoy a fantastic meal.

I would give 10 stars, Chief Laman is simply the best, good humored and funny, the cooking class takes place on the roof outdoors, wonderful.
