Dubai Super Saver: Desert Camp Experience by 4x4 and Dhow Dinner Cruise

Waiting 1 hour, Left at Hotel, No refund, Did exactly what we were told to do.

Let me tell you in great detail my experience with Alpha Tours. First of all, my friend and I were on a 20-hour Emirates layover and thought it would be nice to go on a desert safari tour. We found Alpha Desert Safari Tours, they had decent ratings, so we booked them. They sent us an email which told us to wait in the lobby of our hotel and someone would pick us up between 3 and 3:30pm and asked what our preferred method of communication was, which I responded email. So naturally at 2:50pm I was waiting in the hotel lobby for somebody associated with alpha tours to show up. When it got to 3:30 and I had not seen anybody in the lobby looking for us or asking us if we were waiting on the Alpha Safari Tour, I assumed that they were running a little late and we were okay with that, although we were getting anxious and continued to wait at the very front of the lobby. At 4pm when I hadn’t seen anyone, received an email, or heard our names announced, I asked the concierge to call the office number for me. When I spoke to the Alpha Safari front office, they said that their driver was Mohammed Salin and he was indeed at the hotel. They said he left a message with the cashier and called my hotel room. This made no sense to me because first off we were told to wait IN THE LOBBY and secondly I indicated email as my preferred form of communication and I was constantly checking for an email from them while I was in the lobby. But most surprising was why the driver had not said anything to us while we were there. We were the two guys staring at the door waiting for anyone who was looking for someone for OVER AN HOUR! When speaking to the Alpha Desert Safari I let them know exactly what had happened, and the first thing the man on the phone said was that we were not there, which was in fact a lie. We were in the front of the lobby the whole time because we didn’t want to accidentally miss our trip, which is ironic. Then he told us he called our rooms, which I had to remind him of our instructions to let him know that it did not make sense. He then tried to blame the front desk for not working with their company which was also a lie, the man running the concierge was the most helpful person to me in the situation and even defended Alpha Tours. Despite me explaining to him that we were leaving at 3am that very night the only thing he offered was to let us on tomorrows tour which was 12 hours after our flight leaves Dubai. We asked if they could simply send another driver and they refused. This was a waste of a lot of money that I will never see again. While at the Copthorne Hotel I saw they had their own Desert Safari Tour Company that very distinctively dressed. If I could do it again, I would take my business to these people. I am sure they are better at their jobs than these people.

<p>As with all the tours we booked, we were picked up on time by a Toyota Landcruiser 4x4, it took approximately 45 minutes to our destination the sand dunes, we waited until all 4x4 arrived about 17in total, we then spent about 30 minutes racing around the dunes in convoy, which was great fun and very exiting. We were then taken to the nearby desert camp where we experienced a nice meal with free soft drinks and entertainment, to be returned safely to our hotel.<br/> The Dhow dinner cruise was a pleasant experience the following evening, which included transport to and from the Dubai Creek and a river cruise with a good dinner and free soft drinks, as we noticed everywhere,alcohol is very expensive in Dubai.<br/> On this holiday we planned and booked 5 trips with Viator in 3 different countries, all were value for money, we were picked up on time on each occasion, planning and booking ahead certainly takes the hassle and stress out of the holiday, and I suspect to is cheaper than waiting until you reach your destination. I will use Viator again in the future.</p>

<p>This was a great experience. Just a warning, it's a bit of a car ride out to the desert site. Be prepared for an hour or more drive - once you finally get there, it's a lot of fun. </p> <p>The dinner was very nice, but again, a warning, the boat cruises the creek, not the bay. If you're looking for amazing city views, then you are in the wrong part of the city! Still, it was a nice night out and the food was very good.</p>

We loved both the Desert Camp...

<p>We loved both the Desert Camp Experience and the Dhow Dinner Cruise. I really don't think that anyone should leave Dubai without experiencing both of these activities. The Desert Camp Experience was great. The 4x4 ride is a bit wild but really fun. The dinner and entertainment was authentic and enjoyable. The Dhow Dinner Cruise was lovely. A really nice activity - especially if you are looking for a quiet relaxed evening.</p>

This trip could have been better if...

<p>This trip could have been better if we had a good driver. Ours was obnoxious from the get-go, he was fussy with bringing my things in his suv. When we reached the desert, the other drivers were bashing the dunes more than our driver, ours was very subtle and was no fun.<br/> He also charged more for dropping us back to another part of the city while the tour includes a drop off at a point of our choice. Also, when we had booked for this package we had a dinner cruise, was that a waste of money or what. The cruise was a joke, the food was bad, service was terrible. Overall this package was not worth what we had paid for. There are better companies out there, so try them.</p>

<p>We used the tour on 2 days - first Dinner Cruise and next day 4x4 tour.<br/> The Dinner Cruice was slightly below expectations. The ship was nice, however we did not get the chance to choose our seating and we had to share tables with strangers and had to sit inside. Because it was dark and reflections on windows, we didn't see nothing outside. But as the cruise was fully on the river, there was not much to be seen outside also. We expected to see some panoramic view of the city, but this was not possible on the river. However the food was very good. <br/> The 4x4 tour however was excellent. Because we were staying in an apartment, they didn't agree to pick us up there and we had to walk to a nearby hotel, but this was not much of a problem. The driver was very nice, spoke fluent english and was very adventurous in the desert. The drive was fun and exciting. The dinner was also very delicious and the bellydance beautiful. <br/> As the total price of 2 tours was very good, I still recommend the tour if you like river cruises and fun ride in the desert.</p>

4x4 experience over the dunes is...

<p>4x4 experience over the dunes is exhilarating tho not for the faint hearted. The food is good and there's a variety if things to do. Belly dancer is just OK seen alot better, traditiobal dacer is good. Place with its facilities is very clean. However, on the way there, after approx 1hour drive, all the vehicles stop at a station where they need to release air from tyres before driving onto sand dunes. You are asked to get out and invite you to use toilet facilities through a pokey old shop......DON'T the toilets are absolutely disgusting and the shop assistants PUSH you to wear bedowin headgear then you to pay, when seeing this I bluntly refused. <br/> Our driver hardly spoke to us and when we left we were unfortunate to get stuck in sand. After a long wait we eventually got going again and stopped at perimeter to reinflate tyres. This procedure took nearly an hour, for whatever reason? He didn't speak to us throughout the whole ordeal. We were just unlucky, otherwise we did enjoy the evening.</p>

Would highly recommend the desert...

<p>Would highly recommend the desert safari. My kids were extatic. It's a worthwhile experience. Very well organized. Experienced and skilled driver but not hospitable. The camp dinner was a good layout too. Though the camel ride was rushed over. The Dhow dinner cruise I would not recommend, had to wait over an hour on the boat for all others and kids were hungry. Guest Pick up could have been organized to coincide. The food was regular nothing special in my opinion but well prepared. I suggest it's better to do other Dhow cruises offering entertainment and not just food.</p>

<p>The Desert Camp Experience by 4x4 is fantastic tour to take for young and old!<br/> I participated with my family of 8 with ages ranging from 18 to 83 and we all enjoyed every aspect of the experience. Great fun and excellent value.<br/> The Dinner Cruise is a bit subdued but the food was very good. Recommend taking your starter first and then returning to the buffet for your main. There was plenty of food even though some of the guests thought that 'All you can eat' was a challenge and not just an offer o</p>

<p>Dhow dinner cruise was a journey through interesting scenery on a lovely balmy evening, with a tasty buffet. Only problem was that the dinner music loudspeaker was right next to our ears; be a bit careful where you sit.</p>

<p>The desert tour was great; however, I would suggest no more than 4 riders in the suv, 6 is to crowded. Should add entertainment or a historian to the Dow cruise. You see the sights but have no idea what u are looking at. Should probably glitz it up a little more. It was to casual 4 a night cruise.</p>

<p>I did the safari tour during the summer and it was far more enjoyable. We got stuck in the back seat and my boyfriend is tall so it was a squeeze. There was a girl in the front seat with a backbrace on so the driver couldn't tackle the dunes like he normally would. Dow cruise was chilly, food was ok</p>

<p>Never miss this tour if you are planning to Dubai. Picked up and dropped on time. My only advice would be to make sure you are comfortable with mountain type ride with ups and down. Its a thrilling experience with relaxing time in desert. The dinner is pretty decent. Enjoyed the belly dancing.</p>

The desert camp experience was 5/5...

<p>The desert camp experience was 5/5, everything was just right. Our driver was lovely, informative and friendly. The whole, part of this trip was great. The only downside of it was the stops to let the tyre pressures down, and to re-inflate the tyres. You are hounded by the local shop keepers, whose goods are priced extortionally. I'm sure the tyres could be sorted just before or just after the sand dunes. <br/> The dhoiw cruise for us was not good. As we were staying in the Marina area, it took about 1.5 hours to get to the dhow due to the traffic. Also as the dhow was late to leave due to late arrival of a bus party, it meant we spent about 3.5 hours travelling and waiting and about 2 hours on the dhow. For us, it was nothing special. If we go back to Dubai, we would do the desert camp for sure, but 100% not the dhow dinner cruise.</p>

Motorista grosseiro acabou com o nosso passeio

Eu e meus pais fizemos o desert safari com jantar beduino no dia 30/12/2019. Saimos do hotel Number one tower suites (financial center) e mais um casal (canadense) estava em nosso carro. O passeio tinha tudo para ser sensacional, se não fosse pelo motorista. Um moleque mal educado, estúpido, arrumou confusão com todos do carro, não pediu desculpas em nenhum momento e ainda, para piorar, DEPOIS do jantar ficou derrapando na areia propositalmente, para provocar. Sem falar na velocidade em que dirigiu o carro. Não levou em conta que estavamos em 6 pessoas (sendo 4 idosos, acima de 60 anos). Nos sentimos em perigo durante o trajeto. Não recomendo essa empresa, pois deveriam selecionar melhor seus funcionários. Horrível! (O motorista é o magro que está ao fundo)

Im Jeep durch die Sand-Dünen zu fahren war ein tolles Erlebnis und hat viel Spaß gemacht.<br/> Der Abend im Camp war sehr schön.<br/> Die Bootsfahrt mit der Dhow war ebenfalls sehr schön. Bei gemütlicher Abend-Stimmung konnten wir während der Bootsfahrt<br/> ein gutes Essen genießen. Die vielen Lichter der beleuchteten Stadt und die schön beleuchteten Boote... eine besondere Atmosphäre!<br/> Vielen Dank, Gerne wieder.</p>

<p>Super Trip, hat alles gut geklappt. Wir wurden abgeholt mit kleiner Verspätung aber hatten genug Zeit zu dem Dessert Camp zu fahren. Waren total 6 Fahrzeuge a 6 Personen und hatten sehr viel Spass gehabt bei der Show am Abend. Das Essen war sehr gut und die Show der Tänzer fantastisch. Die Bootsfahrt an nächsten Abend war auch sehr schön, 2 Stunden Bootsfahrt. Das Essen war nicht so speziell aber die Atmosphäre war gut.</p>
