Great tour worth doing small group size

The tour guide was very informative and explaining things in detail. He was a pleasant person and enjoyable to listen to. I did the museum as an add on to the tour and that was worth visiting. Didn't realise the museum carried on to outside exhibits. Very intersting

Definitely need to take this tour on board!

What an experience. I definitely recommend this one. The impact Darwin had in protecting our Country during WW11 was remarkable. Our host David was sensational; extremely knowledgeable. Not to mention the WW11 Truck you travel in which makes the experience more authentic. Great value for money.

A must do on your itinerary in Darwin

Thank you for a wonderful tour. Our guide had a wealth of knowledge and the tour was conducted at a leisurely pace. Coupled with 2 hours at the Darwin Military Museum made for an amazing experience. A must do for everyone visiting Darwin.

I recommend this tour to anyone! The authentic genuine World War 2 truck adds to the wealth of knowledge and information shared throughout the tour. The timing of information perfectly coincides with places that are passed, at a pace that is easy to follow and take in all of the knowledge. The guide was approachable, and knowledgable and shared his enthusiasm of the history of Darwin! 10/10

The hour and 1/2 visit felt like 5 minutes

I doubt anyone knows more about Darwin and the war !!!! My father served in the AIF in Darwin in the 40’s and he would have learnt a lot. Even 42 studibaker was a genuine article and the crash gearbox driven to perfection. What could I add to the experience? Don’t miss it !!!

An experience rich with insights

The driver, truck owner had an amazingly fluent interesting commentary, very well informed with general and lesser known facts. It was varied occasionally with historic voice recordings. Very well worth while

History lesson you never got at school

Totally stoked with the information we received regarding the history of Darwin during the war and Cyclone Tracy. Driving around in the old war truck was not only comfortable, but helped transport you back in time while you saw the actual aftermath of time gone by. We did the tour which included the drop off at the War Museum. This place is huge and needs lots of time to explore it properly, so I'd recommend just doing the truck tour and going to the museum in your own time.

Wonderful history

My mother and grandfather were army personnel in transport, who helped with the evacuation of Darwin during the bombing in 1942. It was nice to think I was learning what they went through as neither spoke in length about it. Thank you

Really great Good info on wartime Darwin

I found the information about the loss of shipping in Darwin Harbour really interesting. The whole trip was great and I fully intend to recommend to others as a great trip.

Worthwhile, guide was fantastic

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the information we were given was interesting and covered a lot. The truck is great to look at but just beware it is a little fumey and a little noisy but that’s to be expected with such an old beauty. We both really enjoyed hearing about Darwin’s war experiences and so much more. I’d love to sit and listed to the guide over dinner!

Excellent commentation! Suggest you do this tour as soon as you arrive in Darwin. It gives you lots of information on Darwin and its History. Well worth it!

Very informative tour...

Very informative tour about wartime Darwin. Great way to have a look around the city too with lots of information about the various sites. So the tour is not only about wartime Darwin it would be of interest to anyone.

Historical tour a must for War history buffs.

Great one man tour. The restored and upgraded seating in the Studebaker was comfortable. The driver was very knowledgeable on the war history of Darwin. A good tour around Darwin. Very informative..

Excellent tour

An excellent tour - the guide is both knowledgeable and engaging. He details a ton of interesting history about Darwin. The WWII era truck is very cool and it was comfortable to ride in even during the hottest part of the day. If you do one tour of Darwin, make it this one!

Must do in Darwin!

This is a must do tour of Darwin. Do it early in your trip so you can revisit places of interest. Our tour guide was amazing - knowledgeable, entertaining and efficient. Fascinating view of Darwin.

Great way to learn about Darwin and it’s history

This was such a novel way to experience Darwin and learn about its wartime history. The open truck allowed the breeze to flow through on a very hot and humid day. Dave, the driver and guide, was so knowledgeable and easy to listen to. We chose the option that allowed us to be dropped off at the Military Museum for a good hour and then rejoin the truck for the rest of the Darwin tour. Would highly recommend.

Darwin Army truck museum experience

The driver didn't introduce himself. He was so very rude to us barking orders at my husband to open door, retract steps and move an E scooter that was in the way, while he sat in the truck cab. Made a big deal 3 times in a row that the scooter was now partially blocking a bullet hole in the fence....we were most uncomfortable. Later in the trip when I said how rude he had been, he replied I wasn't rude..I was abrupt!!. Felt very unwelcome. Would instead recommend hop on hop off bus and pop into war museum along the way. Saves money and much more pleasant. Big thumbs down to the driver

Excellent tour

This was a great tour. Travelling around Darwin in an old army truck and learning about some of the wartime events right where they happened. Loved it. Would highly reccommend it.

Great Wartime History experience

This trip was incredibly informative and Dave was amazing sharing his knowledge about all war facts. The museum was well worth the stop. It was fantastic venturing around in the open vehicle, and the additional sound of jets flying past in "Pitch Black" exercises that were being conducted at the time. The four of us loved it.

Found this tour near the information centre. Loved the Studebaker truck. Great experience. The tour information was very interesting and informative. I have a hearing issue and could hear clearly. The museum stop over is well worth it. We would recommend and do this again.

Informative and interesting

Very informative tour, David really knows his stuff and somehow barely takes a break talking about Darwin as he drives around. Service is also great, he thankfully changed our tour time twice without fuss when we had things pop up.

Darwin’s Wartime History

Our guide gave a most interesting and free-flowing narrative for the entire tour. He covered a range of different aspects of Darwin’s wartime history and the tour was perfect for us as we had only limited time in Darwin to see all these sites. A great experience.

Worthwhile Tour!

Really enjoyed this tour with David, highly recommended, we learnt a lot. The only downside delivery was a little too fast for some of the people on our tour to keep up. We did find the war history of darwin was getting a bit repetative towards the end of our trip, but this tour was great.

Tour Darwin in a Studebaker truck

Absolutely fantastic experience provided by our tour guide David. His in depth knowledge is outstanding. Not only did David provide us with in depth knowledge of Darwin’s wartime history but also gave us a lot of general information about Darwin. To top it off, being driven around in the Studebaker truck was in itself an awesome experience. The wartime museum is a must see for any visitor to Darwin. I’d recommend this tour to all.

Darwin touring with a difference.

A great tour around Darwin seeing it through a completely different perspective. The tour guide was fantastic. His Knowledge of Darwin was impeccable. I really enjoyed seeing different areas of Darwin that I may not have otherwise seen.

A must if interested in Darwin’s WW11 history

The tour operator Greg’s knowledge was outstanding. At first I thought we were listening to a recording until it was obvious Greg was talking verbatim I recommend taking one of the first two trips which enables visiting the museum and catching the 1940’s truck on its next run An excellent trip. Great Historical Tour of Darwin!

Doing the tour in a 1942 restored Studebaker 18 seat vehicle was unique. Our tour guide/driver David was amazing with his commentary of historical events of Darwin. The highlight of the tour for us was the visit to the Darwin Military Museum, well presented with outstanding exhibits. This tour was well worth the cost, and well organised. Thanks David

Open air touring in the old Studebaker.

Driving in an open vehicle, not in an air conditioned bus. The tour guide/driver was a wealth of information, a clear speaker and courteous. So much knowledge was inparted in such a short time, incredible.

Do it in your first days in Darwin!

I took my 10yo son on this tour and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Dave is an absolute encyclopaedia of knowledge. Would recommend doing this tour when you first get to Darwin so you can then explore all the hidden history that is explained during the tour. Highly recommend doing this tour! Was pretty fun driving around in the Studebaker too. We stopped at The Darwin Military Museum for 1.5hours and were pretty rushed, as my son is a history nut and wanted to see and experience everything there.
