Great Sailing Trip

Great sailing trip! Our captain, Vag, and cook, Mario were great hosts who answered all our questions and were great to interact with. The food was amazing and the amount of time we were able to spend at Dia Island was a good amount! Would highly recommend

Incredible experience!

We loved everything from the trip, the swim part and the food. Really well organized experience ! Well recommanded. Can be a good experience for children too, but not too young.

Lovely small group sail in a proper sail boat !!!

It was a lovely day out - the 2 crew members were very friendly and helpful. Was a little nervous of the sailing aspect (sails up and tilting !) at first but soon got into swing of things ! We had a nice lunch prepared for us with some wine. We dont swim but the others did - water was refreshing !! It's nice that its a small group . If I was to add some feedback for the company /sail - it would have been really nice to have had some relaxing greek music playing while we were chilling out/dining on board at Dia - just a suggestion . I have to say that the sailing company were very helpful and clear with booking and meeting instructions etc .

Private sail to Dia Island

It was very easy booking and communication was easy using WhatsApp to organise transfers and give them details of our party. Sailors on our boat were great, Alexis and Spiros, very informative, great host’s and just good guys in general - up for a laugh. Lunch was not included but we were supplied with soft drinks and fresh fruit for snacks. Only 1 downer was that when booking online, it said that snorkels and paddle boards were included but we didn’t have the paddle boards which was disappointing.

Is a must do adventure for your holiday

This trip was amazing and I would recommend to everyone, the sights, the sunset with the food and the opportunity to drive and snorkel in the sea. The staff were very friendly and made it 10/10

Great vibes

Wow! What an amazing sailing experience. The best part was the skipper allowing me to drive the boat for a few minutes and he told us an Ancient Greek myth on our ride back. The water was so blue, beautiful and refreshing! A bit cold in April but after a few minutes you adjust. There wasn’t much marine life to see snorkeling but still an amazing experience. The food they prepared for us was delicious. 10/10 highly recommend!

First timer sailing, nervous about feeling sea sick. Exhilarating experience!

Bring a costume and a towel - if you want to walk up to the church bring swim/sandals like tevas or wetsuit boots to walk on gravel when you swim ashore. The crew were sensational - really put you at ease about being on a yacht for the first time - clear explanations in English on safety and behaviour. Tips on how to manage sea sickness that genuinely worked for me. It was sensational to see the sails unfurl. Lunch was absolutely delicious as was the wine. I really didn't want to do this trip because of my motion sickness. It was absolutely fine, I enjoyed it and can't wait to set sail again. Thank you for giving me the confidence to set sail again!

Absolutely brilliant trip, friendly staff, great views, nice dinner and plenty of wine, the best trip we did by far, would defo recommend to anyone thinking of booking

Beautiful Dia

Zoe and George were fantastic! They were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. The boat was beautiful. Zoe and George always made sure everyone on board was comfortable. They made suggestions for the best place to sit of people were feeling uneasy and always made sure refreshments were available. The lunch was delicious, all fresh ingredients, and the wine was yummy and always topped up. Dia is a beautiful island and the waters around it was stunning. We had a great time snorkeling. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Crete.

Perfect!

From start to finish we had an amazing time! Nikos welcomed us aboard and was easy and friendly to talk to. We had an exciting sail out in some slightly choppy waters, then had a perfect amount of time to go snorkelling next to Dia island. Dinner was prepped whilst we snorkelled, which was a good veggie salad and roasted vegetables (we chose veggie, other choices available.) we then set sail back and had some awesome photo opportunities as the sun went down. Perfect trip!

Simply the best !

Professional from start to finish - as nervous sailors we felt in safe hands with Captain Zoe and George! On arrival at Dia we plunged into the Agean sea with our snorkels (supplied by the yacht) whilst George prepared a tasty lunch with a glass of Cretan Wine - would thoroughly recommend! Altersail great tour

Had a fantastic time out with Zoe & George on the morning Dia Island sailing trip today. Really great, friendly team. Just a small group of 10 of us on the tour from various hotels, a lovely smooth ride out before jumping in the water for about an or so. Lunch was provided with a glass or 2 of wine before jumping in the water again, plenty of time to relax and enjoy.

Loved the Sunset semi-private trip

Excellent trip! Nice fellow passengers, we had great food onboard, went snorkling in the bay and had very friendly and skilled sailing staff. I would recommend it to everybody visiting Crete.

It was a nice trip. Zoe and Antony were very nice and kind. The food was very good. The time on the island was a little bit short.

lifetime adventure

We sailed to a beautiful beach in south Crete where we stopped to go snorkeling and eating a delicious greek meal. While we sailed there, the crew (Eleni&Harry), who was very friendly, funny and open for our questions, told us many interesting information about the sea life around Crete. The break where we went snorkeling was amazing since we saw many fishes and riffs. After our stop near the beach we went back to the port and on this way we had the chance to see the stunning sunset all the time in the back of the boat. For us, it was an absolutely recommendable sailing trip which needs to be on you bucket list when ou visit south crete ;)

A perfect way to celebrate our silver wedding with beautiful pictures in the sunset on our way home. Nice and friendly crew and really a relaxing and special way of experiencing Crete. We loved it!

Lovely sailing trip to the island of Dia.

A really lovely sail to the island of Dia where you have a few relaxed hours to swim, snorkel and relax on board. Beautifully prepared lunch and we were well Looked after at every opportunity- drinks and making sure we were ok. There was a family with young children on board and the crew were great at entertaining and pacifying them. Great to be out on a yacht again, I miss it so much!

The sailing boat was nice and comfortable, with just 10 total guests and 2 crew. The crew was nice and knowledgeable. It was fun swimming, snorkeling and exploring around the sail boat in dia island. If you get sea sick, maybe sailing isn’t the best option. We loved it - had a great day!

Wondefull trip overall

The sailing trip was great in every aspect. We had a great day with exceptionally wonderful guides. Transfer, the sailing back and forth, the snorkelling and the food were better then we expected. We had the chance to see a wonderful sunset from the best place there is: from the sea looking over the island of Crete.

Best trip of Crete

I cannot describe how amazing this trip was. The crew was amazing we had a young captain and he did a good job they took really good care of us and made sure we were comfortable. Also got the best diner with white wine. It was just us and another couple. After sailing and snorkeling in beautiful water we sailed right into the sunset. It was beautiful and would recomend this to everyone visiting Crete.

A great afternoon

We had a great afternoon on the water with Antonis and Marino. They both made a great effort to answer all the questions my son (aged 8) asked about sailing, the boat and Dia island. The sunset sail back to Heraklion was stunning and even a little problem with the boat couldn’t spoil the trip.

A lovely way to spend an evening.

Excellent trip. Took the family with two teenagers. Only small criticism was that that the meet seemed a bit hit and miss. When I called the office they didn't seem to know what was going on. So better organisation at the start would be good. The trip itself was excellent. Boat was in good shape. Skipper (Vagio??) and crew Helena knowledgeable competent and friendly. Dia is a protected area and very barren so we didn't go ashore. But swimming, snorkeling and general messing about in the water was fun followed by an excellent meal prepared by Helena. I have to mention the very good Feta! A lovely way to spend an evening.

Worst Equipment, late on time, not much to See under water but nice water. Look if it is worth it for yourself.

- Captain and staff including pick up driver were really nice - water is really clear - boat is clean - captain brought a sea urchin to show to everyone. That was cute. BUT - the Equipment is the worst snorkeling Equipment We ever had on such a trip - at first they just had 8 snorkels for 12 ppl. So the Captain handed me his private one. That one was good. Later he found some more and said i have to change. Then i had to Deal with the rubish everyone had. Water came with EVERY breath. I didnt make it 2 meters of the boat on second attempt. - 20 Euros/Person for Pickups more Than 10km away. - without any traffic jam and every couple being on time at their pickup, we were 35 minutes late at boat - we saw some small fish and sea urchin. Not more. - for every drink We had to run down or ask. Just a small Glas they filled every single time. With one sip the glass was empty. Dont know why they dont give you the small bottle. So. It was nice driving to dia, swimming in clear water. No comparism to snorkeling in Indonesia, UAE or somewehere else. And the bad-equipment killed it for me. Not worth 110€/person for me.

Great day out

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Dia Island. It was a windy day, so made for an exciting sail. We moored in a beautiful cove, and swam and snorkelled while George and Harry cooked us a traditional Greek lunch. They were both very friendly and helpful, but also fun. There were 8 of us on the trip, which is the maximum, so not too crowded. Lovely day out - highly recommend.

Amazing experience

Wow where do I start.. We went on a sunsettrip for with Captain George, best captain! He is kind and passionate about his job/hobby sailing. He looks after the people on his boat. Dia Sunset Sailing - Great Experience

We dis the Dia Island Sunset Trip and ir was an amazing experience Our skippers Harry and George were super and made the whole trip very enjoyable. We were the only boat when we anchored at the island. Very relaxing experience therefore. Food was great as well. The sailing boats returning to the port in the sunset was such a beautiful sight

Captain George was great! And Alexandro was amazing! Really enjoyed our trip on the 18th July! The lunch was good and treated so well! My husband also got involved with helping out…the sea was quite choppy but we were in safe hands of George

Amazing Sailing Experience

We had an amazing time on this trip. We sailed with Vasili and Demetrius, who were professional, knowledgeable, and very friendly. They made sure we knew everything about the boat in order to stay safe and have good time. We sailed for about an hour to the island, where we got off and snorkeled for an hour and a half. The water was about 40 ft deep in the cove and crystal clear. After that the crew made a delicious lunch, and we swam for another hour before leaving. Altersail was very accommodating and responsive throughout the booking process, allowing us to book for the next morning (after finding out there was no same day availability) while quickly confirming times and meetup location. This was our favorite part of our trip to Crete and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in sailing, snorkeling, or just looking to get out on the water. Conditions were a little rough the day we went with strong winds and 5 foot swells, so just be cognizant of the weather if you tend to get seasick.

Amazing experience, would highly recommend doing the sunset tour! Super friendly captain and crew, really enjoyed the trip :) Food and drinks were delicious and there are also vegetarian and vegan options!

Wow, Beautiful Fun!

Small group tour was amazing; our family of 3 and 2 friends we didn't know - perfect! George and Harry are super knowledgeable and great chefs, each always interacting with one of us. The island taken to was beautiful with the most crystal blue water and it was amazing to watch them direct the boat almost all the way to the beach around other boats anchored in the bay to get us the best spot. They even accommodated one of the girls birthday with a song, hats, and coordinated the surprise with the friend having the cake picked up and brought on board. Boat had plenty of shaded and sunny areas for sitting and a nice clean bathroom. Everything was on point - couldn't have been any better!

Sailing to Dia

Super sailing crew, very attentive to us, nice trip between the venitian castle and Dia. The snorkling in the hidden little bay, and then the lunch on the ship were so relaxant !

Great Sailing Trip with a wonderful sunset

The trip was amazing. Our skipper George and our hostess Zoi were very attentive, eager and friendly. It was a lot of fun sailing with them. The snorkelling in Dia Bay was very nice and the food was delicious. But the highlight was the sunset on the way back to Iraklio.

Wow!

Amazing day! We got married day before and it was a treat for the first day of marriage. The staff were great antonis and harris (sorry if spelling wrong) they explained everything about Dia island, made a incredible lunch and we swam in the bluest sea. The icing on the cake was the sunset! Wow! Just wow!

Beautifully and amazing experience

We had the tour yesterday. We had such an amazing and beautifull experience! We loved every moment of it! The crew was amazing! They told us all about the island and were true gentlemans. The food was delicious!

Would recommend!

Had a great time sailing to Dia Island with the guys of Altersail! Was a little busy, but managed to get a spot on the dock to explore a little of the island and snorkel over the seagrass from the beach. The guys were friendly & spoke great English. Enjoyed the tasty lunch & a little wine too 🥂 Was too early for the sunset, but great views, even on a cloudy day. Would recommend!

Fantastic sailing experience

Absolutely a great experience with Nikos and his other skipper. Great intro and what was gonna happen on the day. No drama, just nice and relaxed. When we got to the island and anchored it was so peaceful. Lovely boat and we were always told where to sit etc but very layed back and in line with being safe and comfy, it was like ‘make yourself at home, my boat is your boat’ perfect host. He told me to check a YouTube video about jacques Cousteau and the island with regards to a shipwreck ( think as I was the oldest by a long way no one else knew who Cousteau was 😂) The dinner they prepared was lovely, great chicken souvlaki and a great salad. They really looked after us drinks wise, everyone else had soft drinks but we had white wine. Great to dive in the sea, bit chilly but worthwhile. Great ride back with the sun going down. Absolutely cannot fault the afternoon and the hosts were amazing. I would definitely contact him again as it was a great sailing experience.

Beautiful views with not too many people

Very good experience. Was able to get picked up from out hotel (for a price since we were outside the 10km free range). very nice skippers and nice views. just wish we stayed at the island we visited for longer than we did. An hour and a half would be nice.

It was quite oké and the people were nice but not a must do. Especially if you are allergic to wasps it is a no go.

The guides were really nice and gave a lot of information. The boat was fine but not a lot of room to sit comfortably. We were a bit later picked up while the first guests got drinks and we didn’t. There was not enough wind to sail so we had to go on the motor with the sail a bit up for show. We went to a bay at the island Dia where we stayed to snorkel and swim. The bay had beautiful blue water. The gear provided for snorkling was quite old and worn out but it worked. There were not a lot of fish to see, only some small ones. There wasn’t much to see under water besides rocks and some grass.The lunch provided was a salad with chicken and was ok . Only there were a lot of wasps on the boat. So it really made it uncomfortable to eat and drink. Lemonade was really not an option because it attracted a lot of wasps and one had to pay attention when eating. Afterwards the guide sang a song on his guitar which was a nice finish. They provided us very well with wine and other drinks. The fruit salad was good too. Summarizing it was quite oké and the people were nice but not a must do. Especially if you are allergic to wasps it is a no go.

Beautiful, relaxing experience

Me and my wife decided to book a day trip to Dia island on our honeymoon. After looking at many different companies, we went with Altersail....and I am over the moon we did. From the moment we stepped foot on the boat till we docked back in Heraklion, we were made to feel very welcome. We stopped in 2 different locations to do abit of snorkelling. In between, we had some lunch, which was very tasty! It was a greek salad, with some BBQ kebabs served with a glass of wine. This was followed up with some fresh fruit and a little dessert, with some Ouzo (Yamas!) It was a beautiful experience and we would highly recommend to anyone!
