Visit to Old Cairo, Churches & Citadel

We had a lovely morning with Raafat. We booked a driver and car (no guide) as we just wanted to spend about 3hrs to look at Old Cairo and the Citadel. Raafat dropped us at the street where all the churches were and we were able to wander along on our own before meeting back at the drop point. He then took us to the Citadel where we again wandered around for about an hour before he took us back to our hotel. He did try to suggest taking us to shops as we had time but after we insisted we only wanted to go see old buildings, churches and the Citadel then that was what he stuck to. He was kind enough to get us a cold water & some lovely dessert snacks after our first stop which was appreciated. He was very nice and polite and our 3hr journey with him was exactly what we were after. Thank you!

Tour of the Mosque , Churches and Market

The places we wanted to go and visit were great. Kareem the Egyptianiolgist was knowledgeable of the sites he took us to. He also took us to places we were not really wanting to go like the perfumery , art gallery , clothing and spice places. As a tourist be aware that Egyptians guides work with different places that they take you to for your exposure however I’m not sure what’s their gain.

I learnt a lot!!

Solo female traveler here!! I took the tour of old Cairo with Karim and it was a wonderful day. Karim was an excellent guide, he seems passionate about what he does and about Egyptian history, he explains everything in detail and with great patience. We visited a lot of beautiful places around Old Cairo except Khan El Khalili since I was super tired by that time. All in all, it was one of my favorite days in Egypt, and the passion with which Karim talks about Egyptian history is simply amazing. I recommend it 100%. A tip: If you don't want to go to the papyrus or perfume stores, let the guides know from the beginning since they will definitely take you to those stores during the trip. (I did visit the stores and they were very nice)

Coptic and Islamic cairo

Kereem was an amazing guide. He is very knowledgeable and took pictures the whole time which was nice since I’m solo traveling. Mohammad was an awesome driver! He’s the Egyptian Vin Diseal. I felt safe and taken care of the whole time. I highly recommend them for your Cairo travels!

Great overview of old Cairo

Had a great time exploring old Cairo with our brilliant guide Kareem & excellent driver Mohamed. They were both so polite & friendly and did everything they could to make this a really good experience. Kareem was very knowledgeable and gave us loads of information and answered all our questions. Quick tour of Coptic Cairo

It was a great tour and my wife and I enjoyed it very much. I recommend it highly if you have only half a day on your Egypt schedule.

Great tour, strongly recommended

Mohamed gave us an amazing tour of the Salahuddin Citadel, Coptic churches and Khan el Khalil. He also pointed us to good places to eat and shops with fixed prices in nooks and crannies of Khan el Khalil which we would not have found ourselves. We strongly recommend taking this tour if you want to learn history, want peace of mind while going through the the chaos of the city and want to find some hidden shopping spots.

Simon was an excellent tour guide! She showed me all around the citadel, church, the marketplace, we went to different shops, and I had an excellent lunch! Fascinating tour of Egypt’s cultural and religious history.

We had a great tour of Coptic Cairo and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali was awesome. We learned a lot about the cultural and religious history of Egypt from Bisho, our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and helped us take good pictures. The felucca ride at the end capped off a fun day.

Great overview of Churches/ Mosques in Cairo

Brilliant depth of knowledge and got to see all the sights of both Islamist and Christian churches. Highlight was the Mohammad Ali Mosque, incredibly beautiful and historical.

Great guide, great tour

A great tour. We especially enjoyed the mosque and the incredible view of the city and pyramids in the distance. We couldn’t praise our guide, Mohammad, highly enough. He was happy to answer ‘off script’ questions as well as being extremely knowledgable about Egyptian history. Very enjoyable day.

Awesome tour of church and mosque

On-time pickup, Jon navigated the Cairo traffic masterfully. Guide was fantastic. I'm kinda limited physically but he adapted and made sure I was okay and not rushed. The churches were amazing and his deep knowledge of the history was interesting. Egyptian history is not covered in US schools...to bad. Much to learn.. thank you all for a great time.

History and more

Great communication from tour operator and guide, and the driver was punctual. Our tour guide, Bishoy, shared lots of history, and we also discussed politics, history, culture, and the weather! Our driver, Jalal, even used a translator to communicate clearly with us. They were both friendly and respectful. The mosque was magnificent both inside and out, and the Coptic and cavern churches were something I enjoyed as well. I did not have an opportunity to visit the Khan el-Khalili marketplace.

Great Cairo

Bishoy was knowledgeable and took us around to the difference sights. We did end up going to some papyrus / spice / perfume stores that give you a demonstration and try to sell you stuff. It wasn't quite clear that we would be going to these places, so we eventually said to not take us to anymore stores.

Mohamed provided detailed explanations about the history of Old Cairo and its culture. Despite my slow pace due to fatigue, he was patient and even took pictures. Great day trip!

Went for the day trip to Coptic churches, old Cairo, citadel. The entire experience was great, thanks for Marsil! She accommodated a last minute visit to the museum of Egyptian civilisation and the oldest mosque in Africa ( not originally part of the tour). She was kind and attentive, and the perfect companion when travelling solo! Also, want to send a shout out to our driver Waleed, who was so patient through the process! Loved it! Highly recommend booking this.

Great history of Coptic and Islamic Cairo

This is our second time with Hesham Egypt Tour guide.We are glad that Karim was our tour guide today.As usual he explained very well the history of both.It was surreal going to the mosque,synagogue,hanging church and most of it all seeing where the Blessed Mary,Joseph and baby Jesus stayed for over 3 months just to escape King Herod’s cruelty.Our driver Mohammed Al Sayed was kind and took us to places safely.We enjoyed our lunch in the Nile…..It’s worth coming back to Egypt to explore more of its history.

Fascinating day with a great guide

What a fantastic day we have had with Karim and Magut today. We have thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Coptic Cairo and the Mosque and Citadel with a trip to the spice shop and great lunch also. Karim was a brilliant guide and informative guide who answered all our questions and provided expert knowledge. Magut our driver was excellent also. We are two very happy British tourists who feel we have got to know a fascinating side of Cairo we would not have discovered without our excellent tour guide Karim.

Good time in Cairo

The guide was so experienced and was kind to show us around famous places of Cairo. We visited mosk, churches and local shops. The driver waited for us to come out the airport becauae the flight was delayed and the meeting time was delayed.

Wonderful Day in Cairo

We had a wonderful day doing a private tour of the Alabaster Islamic Mosque and Coptic Cairo. Our guide Mohammed was great. He has so much knowledge of the places we visited, full of information about the history and periods in Egyptian time and culture. Mohammed was with us the whole time which made us feel very comfortable. Our driver was also very good as he drove us from place to place safely Besides going to all the historical places, Mohammed also took us to genuine local shops to see and buy real Egyptian products If you are interested in learning about the history and culture of Cairo and Egypt then we highly recommend you do this tour with Mohammed you will really enjoy it!

Fantastic day with Bisho and Remoo

Bisho and Remoo were the perfect pair to take my sister and I around Cairo. Very welcoming and informative about all the things we wanted to see and do. The history of Egypt is fascinating and vast but we were able to cover a bit of it throughout our day. Plenty of much loved souvenirs acquired also. I hope I can visit Egypt again in the future and see more of this beautiful country. 🙏🏻

An introduction to Cairo with friends

The old Cairo and Coptic Cairo sites were full of interest, history, and welcome. The papyrus, scents, and spices shopping experiences were really good and enjoyable. The Citadel and Mosque experiences provided an expansive view of Cairo. Bis-Hoo is a great guide to spend quality time with for an introduction to Cairo.

A wonderful day in Cairo

Our guide Bishoo was excellent. He was very informative and patient and kind. He answered all our questions and was a great introduction to Cairo. Our driver Islam was a master at negotiating the traffic. We felt very safe with both of them guiding us around Cairo.

Please be aware

My driver was Eslam and my guide Ehab. The driver come to pick me up and then the guide joined us a little bit later on our way to our first stop: the Coptic Cairo. Ehab was very knowledgeable and helpful. Most of the time I felt like he was throwing a lot of information at me but in a rush way. We went to the Hanging Church, St. George's Church, and the underground church of the holy family. After that he took me to a place where they sell clothes but he presented the place to me as a Egyptian cotton place where they would explain me about Egyptian cotton. Sadly it was just a clothing store. Didn't get any information about Egyptian cotton. He also asked me if I had interest in visiting a papyrus making store, a spices store and an aromatherapy place. All places not mentioned on the original tour. Luckily I've said to him that I've visited this places before or I would ended up going to more stores where people try to push you to buy stuff. Next stop was the citadel and the Alabaster mosque. No visit to any of the museums in the area. Only the mosque. (Please be aware that the guide will ask you which mosque do you want to visit on the tour and only one). After that we went to the Bazaar or Kan el Khalili. As we were approaching the market I was informed that the same is closed or partially closed on Saturdays so we only ended up visiting a shot part of it. There, the guide bought me a date fruit drink which was nice. On total I spent around 3 hours to complete the tour. As a private tour, me only, I ended up paying £80 (sterling) for it. Do I recommend this after my experience and the price I paid? Definitely no. Too pricey for just 3 hours with an awkward experience in between. Anyway thank you to Eslam and Ehab for showing me around. Be aware that Hesham (owner of the company) will try to sell you more tours after you book this or any other tours from "Hesham Egypt". Also he is going to make pressure on you to make the review as soon as possible and to be kind with them. As a matter of principle, I like to be impartial on my reviews and try to detail as much as possible my experience and I don't like to feel pressured. So please be aware of this situation too.

The Islamic mosque and Coptic Cairo

We had a wonderful tour of Coptic Cairo, the mosque, Coptic church , synagogue and old Cairo city. Our guide, Abraham and driver, Islam were both excellent : warm, friendly informative. Abraham made the history of the different religions and buildings vibrant and interesting. We could not have had a better experience.

Good tour covering Egyptian Museum, Coptic and Islamic Cairo (Citadel). The guide Ehab knows very well the city and its history as well all the relevant sites in Egypt.

Marsil was a professional guide, she knew her stuff; history, stories behind attractions, where to find the best views, she has extensive knowledge of the history of Egypt and that is massive. A lot of these tours involved a couple of stops that people who may not be interested maay consider it a turn off but I understood how things work in Egypt. She was very accommodating, and she's an excellent photographer! Marsil is highly recommended!

Great tour experience with Ehab

We had an excellent tour hosted by Ehab and our driver Moaz - despite only booking the tour the night before! Moaz picked us up promptly and communicated his timings well via WhatsApp. Ehab is an excellent guide and definitely recommend him, he was extremely knowledgeable (even answering questions beyond the scope of the tour that we were on), attentive, and well natured. Also, he was generous with his time (with the tour extending beyond 4 hours). When you book this tour, make sure to request Ehab! Only negative from me is that the tour operator themselves were pushy and curt with their messaging on WhatsApp - ignore this and enjoy the tour with Ehab!

Wife's Must Sees

My wife booked this tour for us on our last day in Cairo, these things were on her bucket list. We enjoyed it immensely, the views from the Citadel and Mosque were amazing and the churches were beautiful. Bishoo, our guide was very helpful in explaining all the details.
